Came here to celebrate the nephew's birthday. I did not have a lot of experience with this style of steak house, so I was truly not sure what to expect. What a wonderful experience! With the food prepared in front of our rowdy group and the entertaining chef kept us in awe the whole time. Eggs flying, meat sizzling, aromas wafting it was dizzying to the senses, and fun. The flavors were amazing; I particularly enjoyed the scallops and the steak. The prices also were very fair. I love Japanese food. I always enjoy hibachi restaurants too... some are good, some are just barely ok. I have seen a lot of reviews of Fuji that are not that flattering... but the reviews are often for sushi, which is not really what most hibachi restaurants excel at. If I want sushi, I will go to a sushi specialty restaurant. Normally the kitchen menus are good (Katsu, Tempura, etc)... but the Hibachi based TeppanYaki is usually the best. So today at Fuji, I ordered the Filet Mignon Hibachi lunch special. Great price... so I figured why not? Service was very good... I was told that the minimum seating at a hibachi table was two. So I could either wait and see if someone else came in wanting that... or I could order two servings. Lol... hungry but not that hungry. I was also told that hibachi for one is available at the normal table (minus the chefs flinging knives and shrimp around)! I was seated, brought water... and my waitress was great. Cheerful and helpful without being obtrusive. She gave me an option of either French Onion soup or Miso soup... I went with the Miso. She brought a bowl out shortly and apologized it took so long (it didn't), stating that since I was the first one in, and they just opened... nothing was ready yet. So everything was made fresh. Miso was good... small cubes of tofu, some nori... and you could taste the hondashi it was made with... delicious. A bit salty, but that does happen... She brought my plate out and it was very nice to look at, with a great aroma. Nice portion of filet, veggies and fried rice (I chose the rice, instead of noodles). Very tasty, beef was so tender and cooked perfectly medium rare like I asked for. Veggies were crisp and delicious... and the fried rice (yakimeshi) was wonderful! Highly recommended... and I will need to go back and try dinner at the hibachi tables, and also order from the kitchen menu. If you think you'll be getting away from the noise of the mall by coming here for a "fine dining" experience you will be sorely mistaken. The music being played was irritating, and an employee was noisily stacking glasses near by. The sushi was very bland and disappointing after recently having great sushi at Tonton Sushi and Sushi Ya earlier this week. The seaweed in the miso soup was so oddly chewy I thought at first I had some octopus or gristle in my my soup. Wow! First impression walking through the door was excellent! My daughter made reservations and told them it was my birthday, which it was. We were all greeted as soon as we walked through the door. The mood in the restaurant was pleasant! I got the lobster and chicken, very well priced for the size of the lobster(which was cooked to perfection) and the sides were too. Your main protein comes with either rice or noodles, cooked veggies and soup and salad. If you've got someone with an allergy to fish or seafood I don't recommend this place as everything's cooked on the same grill. We had one in our party that's allergic to shellfish and none of us even thought about it. The food was great. It being my birthday I had to put in a huge pink plastic head while everyone sang happy birthday and I got 4 pieces of dessert. Very yummy. The service and atmosphere were fantastic. I've been to teppanyaki and it can be fun with a group; it isn't my favorite place to go. It's more for the fun than the food usually-but this was different. The restaurant is in the Valley River Center Mall. There's an entrance so you don't have to go into the full mall. The entrance is nice and the place is very big with the bar and dining area to the left and teppanyaki tables to the right. This place works a little differently. We were greeted by someone who goes by Cat. Her smiling face made me smile and happy to be there. You get there, are shown to a table and someone gives you a menu and drink order then comes back to get your order for dinner. They don't wait until a table is full to start a dinner. After your order is placed, your soup and salad-and any appetizers and drinks-and the chef shows up and starts the show. It was a little odd sitting there with just 2 at the table. But somewhere nice, too. It was all focused on you. The chef had a vibrant personality and she did a nice performance with things I haven't seen elsewhere. The food was really good. The fried rice excellent, shrimp & steak were cooked nicely and tasty and the lobster that I figured fired would be 1) chewy from the grill and 2) not tasteful was actually delicious. They didn't sauce it with things that would overshadow the flavor. It is something to definitely order. Service was excellent from when we entered to our table service and questions I asked when looking around the restaurant. Everyone was pleasant and knowledgeable and, seemed, happy to be there-which enhances the guest's experience. I would go back. read more

I just had the most amazing date with my girlfriend! It was our 2 year anniversary and lovely server named grace helped us pick out the most delicious meal with the best drink to combo! Service was genuinely great and definitely one of the highlights of the visit. The phone at the table felt pretty average, nothing special. The edamame had lovely flavor but was undercooked, leaving the beans a bit firm. The onion soup didn't offer much beyond the dehydrated onions and felt more like a palate cleanser, and the salad had a very vinegary profile and was drenched, with lots of liquid left at the bottom. I was a little skeptical at first because the chipped paint on the plates made the presentation feel underwhelming. The steak, however, was perfectly cooked and excellent quality, while the chicken was just okay and needed more seasoning. I usually enjoy saucier rice and noodles, but these were still pretty decent. Would not recommend the Lemon Drop. Overall, a mixed experience with standout service and a few solid dishes. read more

I wasn't terribly impressed with the 'Dining Side' of Fuji. The staff were very cheerful and attentive but the food is very different compared to the Hibachi Side of the restaurant. The area is fairly dark with dark furniture. The lighting wasn't very bright making the dark background of the menu difficult to see. The Shrimp Pad Thai did not have the traditional peanut sauce, but came with a red sauce and ground peanuts to the side. I could not separate and identify what the red sauce was. It wasn't bad, actually fairly good, but there was distinctly no peanut flavor. There was some ground peanuts on the side to stir into the noodles. The noodles were cooked well and included cilantro, bell pepper slices and fresh crisp bean sprouts and some finely sliced carrot strings. There was a mysterious burnt flavor from one of the components of the Pad Thai. The shrimp was overcooked and tough. The Calamari came with tempura batter. It was very chewy and was strictly calamari rings. The dipping sauce has a mild spice flavor and was very nice. The Gyoza was absolutely fantastic though. It was cooked very well. The filling was very flavorful and abundant and the dipping sauce it came with was excellent. read more

Hey! So my mom wanted to come here for her birthday because it's her favorite place in town. She raved about it and was so excited. The night came and apparently they dont do anything for birthdays anymore? Like not even a scoop of ice cream with a candle? What a waste and honestly so disappointed. This place is horrible! Came here for a friend's bday dinner. The decorations were fancy and it appeared clean, but those are all of the good things I can say about it. It was a medium busy night and it was so horribly loud, we could barely hear the people 1-2 seats away from us. The service was sooo slow. She took our drink orders and appetizer orders after a reasonable duration, but it felt like 15-20 min before she returned for entree orders and then another 15 min before the appetizers came out. Then the hibachi took another 15 min to start. So we were there for nearly an hour before people even started eating their main course. The night started out with it taking me asking 2 times across 15 min to even get a water without ice (for health reasons). Also, when I had ordered a Ramuné, she said they were out of the original flavor, so I said I would have melon. After 10 min, she brought out orange and it took another 15 min to get it corrected. I had asked the waitress multiple times if a tofu salad was vegan and told her I was allergic to dairy and fish (I'm not, but I could tell this was the kind of place that might not take it that serious unless I used the A-word). I also ordered an avo roll. When the salad was brought out, it had a suspciously white dressing. I asked the lady who brought it out (not our waitress) to check if it was vegan. She was nice and left with the sauce to ask, but never returned after over 10 min. By this point, the hibachi had been done and everyone was almost done with their meals. I finally found our waitress and had her check if the sauce was vegan. She left and returned to report that it is usually vegan except for chicken powder. At this point, I was so starving and frustrated that I said I would just have my avo roll. I could tell by her face that she had forgotten about it entirely. Another 10 min later, they finally brought out the avo roll (6pcs). What a joke! These were so small! They were the size of a quarter in diameter and no taller than a large blueberry. It was so awkward sitting there for over an hour and then having to scarf these tiny sushi rolls before everyone left. We were here for 1h40m total. I will never come back here. Overall, the problem was not whether they had vegan options, it was 100% their service and communication. read more

Absolutely unacceptable. We chose Fuji because they usually put on a great show--that's the whole reason we brought our son and grandson. But this time? Total disaster. The staff was too busy catering to their two friends seated next to us, completely ignoring the rest of us. They gave them huge portions and left the rest of us with barely anything on our plates. It was obvious and honestly insulting. No show, no hospitality, just a bunch of employees hanging out and taking care of their buddies while paying customers got the bare minimum. Our family had a great time this evening FUJI Japanese Steakhouse it was my kiddos first time having hibachi. They were totally amused!!! Filet mignon and the fried rice were my son's fave. In his words "like butter". Staff were happy to be there and that makes a big difference. We will definitely celebrate more birthdays there in the future. 3 stars because it is mediocre. I was there with a large group and the chef was entertaining, but it was the same egg on a spatula and onion on fire that I saw when I was there 20 years ago. We were a party of about 12 and he didn't cook anything on the side where 4 of us were sitting. I passed on the soup and salad and opted for a sashimi scallop and yellowfin appetizer. It was the best part of the meal. The rice had frozen peas and carrots. I ordered the filet and lobster. Steak was tender, lobster was kid of pasty and both were flavorless. The bill for 2 of us was less than $100 including a small bottle of sake. I'm not complaining about the food quality for the price, it's great for a party. But if you want really good, fresh, flavorful and quality food- definitely pass up this place. It's the "Denny's" of Japanese cuisine. read more

Haven't been here before but enjoyed the hibachi grill. We came on a Sunday evening and had a fun experience. We did make reservations so we could sit at the hibachi grill which was fun. Ordered a drink at the bar that was advertised as having Grey Goose vodka in it...the bartender made it in front of me and used pinnacle vodka... I told him it said Grey Goose on the menu and he said "sorry" and handed it to me... I told him I'd still drink it but I don't want to pay full price. He still charged us full price. And my salad fruit fly. I was on a date and did my best to stomach it down without my wife realizing the bug issue. I didn't want to ruin date night. With kids we rarely get out alone. The waiter noticed i was unhappy with my food as I ate almost nothing. I asked him quietly to have his manager call me. I didn't want to alert my wife there was an issue and ruin her meal. We made a 6:30 reservation for 2 to celebrate a birthday. We got seated in the back with another party. It was almost 7:00 and no one had even taken our drink order. We had to call someone over. 15-20 min went by, still no drinks. I went up front and told the server we have been sitting with no service for 30 min. She brought my drink out about 7 min later but I learned that the other couple at our table never even got their drinks. We almost got up to leave then our cook arrived. Went in on a Friday for lunch with the husband and kiddo. We were sat at 1230pm and the chef came by at 1pm. We weren't in a rush, thus we didn't mind. Plus, there was another show at the table adjacent to us. So we had a little preview. I've been to other hibachi restaurants before and expected a little wait. Ordered some appetizers to mitigate any potential creeping hunger. The prices for lunch are super affordable! There are sushi specials. We got a salmon avocado roll and tuna avocado roll for $11. It came with a little side of seaweed. The temperature of the rolls was a little warm for my taste, but flavor was on point. Avocado was perfect and creamy. As for the hibachi, we got shrimp, chicken, and steak with noddles and fried rice. The portions are huge and the prices were only $10, $12, $15. We definitely got enough to take home for dinner. I'm pretty picky with fried rice, even Americanized versions. This place had came close to my mom's. It must have been the garlic. The noodles were also tasty, although this is the first time I've see this available at a hibachi restaurant. The chef was very personable and friendly. He put on a good show. We have been here twice now. We have never had to wait long like other people reported. In fact, this most recent trip, there was only the two of us at the table and they took care of us without waiting for more customers. We decided to try a sushi roll. We did that last time and weren't really happy. We will skip the sushi from now on. We had the dinner for two that included chicken, steak, shrimp and lobster. The steak and shrimp were delicious. The steak was very tender. The chicken was just ok and the lobster really isn't meant to be cooked on a cook top. Next time we will get just the steak and shrimp. They give you a salad and soup. The salad was very good, but they didn't drain the greens well and the bottom of the bowl was full of water. The soup had almost no flavor and might as well have been hot water. The show was fun. We will do it again, remembering what we learned. OH, BTW, I just saw someone elses one star review that somehow has todays date and they said they did an evening dinner, which isn't possible, but anyhow, they said they didn't do anything for birthdays anymore. Well, it was my birthday and they brought me some pieces of cake with a couple of candles and sang Happy Birthday for me. So, Not sure what happened with that person. read more
