Veggie roll, Salmon avocado roll

If you think you'll be getting away from the noise of the mall by coming here for a "fine dining" experience you will be sorely mistaken. The music being played was irritating, and an employee was noisily stacking glasses near by. The sushi was very bland and disappointing after recently having great sushi at Tonton Sushi and Sushi Ya earlier this week. The seaweed in the miso soup was so oddly chewy I thought at first I had some octopus or gristle in my my soup. The best part was the kind and apologetic server who seemed to understand that waiting 20+ minutes for two sushi rolls at lunch time was an eternity. Also the bathroom sinks were pretty.

I've been to teppanyaki and it can be fun with a group; it isn't my favorite place to go. It's more for the fun than the food usually-but this was different. The restaurant is in the Valley River Center Mall. There's an entrance so you don't have to go into the full mall. The entrance is nice and the place is very big with the bar and dining area to the left and teppanyaki tables to the right. This place works a little differently. We were greeted by someone who goes by Cat. Her smiling face made me smile and happy to be there. You get there, are shown to a table and someone gives you a menu and drink order then comes back to get your order for dinner. They don't wait until a table is full to start a dinner. After your order is placed, your soup and salad-and any appetizers and drinks-and the chef shows up and starts the show. It was a little odd sitting there with just 2 at the table. But somewhere nice, too. It was all focused on you. The chef had a vibrant personality and she did a nice performance with things I haven't seen elsewhere. The food was really good. The fried rice excellent, shrimp & steak were cooked nicely and tasty and the lobster that I figured fired would be 1) chewy from the grill and 2) not tasteful was actually delicious. They didn't sauce it with things that would overshadow the flavor. It is something to definitely order. Service was excellent from when we entered to our table service and questions I asked when looking around the restaurant. Everyone was pleasant and knowledgeable and, seemed, happy to be there-which enhances the guest's experience. I would go back.

I wasn't terribly impressed with the 'Dining Side' of Fuji. The staff were very cheerful and attentive but the food is very different compared to the Hibachi Side of the restaurant. The area is fairly dark with dark furniture. The lighting wasn't very bright making the dark background of the menu difficult to see. The Shrimp Pad Thai did not have the traditional peanut sauce, but came with a red sauce and ground peanuts to the side. I could not separate and identify what the red sauce was. It wasn't bad, actually fairly good, but there was distinctly no peanut flavor. There was some ground peanuts on the side to stir into the noodles. The noodles were cooked well and included cilantro, bell pepper slices and fresh crisp bean sprouts and some finely sliced carrot strings. There was a mysterious burnt flavor from one of the components of the Pad Thai. The shrimp was overcooked and tough. The Calamari came with tempura batter. It was very chewy and was strictly calamari rings. The dipping sauce has a mild spice flavor and was very nice. The Gyoza was absolutely fantastic though. It was cooked very well. The filling was very flavorful and abundant and the dipping sauce it came with was excellent.

The ambience and service were good. But, the really amazing thing was the food. My husband had Pineapple Fried Rice and it came in half of a pineapple. Beautiful presentation! I had Penang Shrimp Curry. Delicious! Our Long Island Iced Tea was not watered down like most restaurants do. We were pleasantly surprised.

Happy birthday masks and cake

Our family had a great time this evening FUJI Japanese Steakhouse it was my kiddos first time having hibachi. They were totally amused!!! Filet mignon and the fried rice were my son's fave. In his words "like butter". Staff were happy to be there and that makes a big difference. We will definitely celebrate more birthdays there in the future. They sang happy birthday to the kids and brought out drums and masks. The kid's filet mignon is a stellar price $15.95 includes vegetables, fried rice, soup and a salad.

Shrimp Tempura Roll and Salmon Cucumber Roll

This place was pretty mediocre. I had the shrimp tempura roll and the salmon cucumber roll. The salmon cucumber roll was nice and fresh but in my opinion too much cucumber. Something about the shrimp tempura roll was off and I didn't really enjoy it. The waiter also forgot the gyoza I ordered. However the service was otherwise really attentive! Nothing of note about the ambiance.

Terrible experience with the young lady waiter. Extremely snarky and was constantly rude towards my family. She needs an ego check.

Great place for lunch. The stir fry tables are fun and yummy, as is the their sushi. My go to place when I'm in the river valley mall area.

Nice interior, and was waited on quickly. My waitress brought water, and took my order for green tea. It came quickly, a full mug, and a lovely little cast iron teapot with a second serving. Good tea, too! I ordered the nine piece Hamachi sashimi (on a diet... no carbs, lol)! I was brought a six piece... and let the waitress know that. Told her the six piece would be fine for now. Lovely presentation, and the hamachi was beautiful. Fresh too, no fishy odor and the color was good. It was delicious. I would eat here again!

Today I went and got a 'Caterpillar' roll and 'Day Dreamer' roll. Let me break it down for you. Caterpillar roll: AMAZING 10/10. I love sushi and this is a go to roll for me NO MATTER WHAT. This roll is always good, but Sushi Pure makes it amazing, the taste, texture, and fulfillment it brings is unmatched. Day Dreamer roll: Very Solid 7.75/10. This roll had me in a chokehold for a second. That's neither bad or a good thing. The taste all around was very good, but the texture through me off (more personal problem, so many of you may love this). It was like soft, then crunchy, then popping due to the fish egg. All around I would recommend, but it may not be for everyone. The servers I've had both times have always been so kind, quick moving, and motivated so the service is unmatched as well. All in all, Sushi Pure is a must try with an amazing atmosphere!

Wasabi - like, real wasabi! I kept dabbing in my mouth never having tasted it before. It's both spicier on the front of your tongue and more luxurious on the back. I want more. The fried chicken bao was unfugging, unbelievably delicious. Can we say unfugging on Yelp? We got the Mrs V roll - spicy tuna topped with seared beef. Again, buttery with Rich beef and tuna that's actually spicy. Excellent roll This was an elegant, refined and completely delicious experience. We will definitely be back.

Our server didn't smile and seemed so impatient when we asked questions about the menu. He was going off the clock and flippantly said, if you need anything ask the other guy or the bartender, both of which seemed disinterested in filling in for him. When we asked about which tuna nigiri was which (several were on the plate) they had no clue and were not interested in finding out for us. Food wise, it was okay and I've certainly had better but the lackluster service tainted the entire night.

Ordered the Ikura onigiri and the Japanese Sweet Potato and the Agadashi Tofu. (I asked for miso butter on the side for me because I have found it overwhelms the potato which is seasoned really wonderfully). The Ikura Onirigi was simple and excellent. My favorite wishes that they would create an regular Onirigi Happy Hour where they are on discount so that those of us who just want to have half a dozen of those and a few drinks can come in and experience our heart's delight. My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second. Wednesdays are when they have two dollars off the ginger-based drinks and I didn't try it this time but I am keen to the next time because they appear to crush the ginger in house and make their own ginger concoction magic. The bar was thankfully not crowded. As an introvert it was nice to be finishing up and heading out just as more people were coming in.

The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

Despite the restaurant being mostly empty at 7:30 PM, the operational execution was incredibly poor. Service Delays: While a glass of wine arrived promptly, a single cocktail took 50 minutes to hit the table. Our appetizer required a 30-minute wait and lacked basic seasoning. Lack of Communication: The kitchen ran out of a core ingredient for one of our five sushi rolls. Instead of informing us, they unilaterally substituted a different roll, assuming we wouldn't notice. When addressed, staff insisted the replacement featured real crab, though the quality and texture indicated otherwise. Staff Inconsistency: Our primary server disappeared early in the evening, leaving us to track down other staff for updates. Because of the extreme structural delays, our food arrived just 30 minutes prior to closing, resulting in a rushed and uncomfortable conclusion to our meal. Had the restaurant been busy, lapses in timing might be understandable. Given the low volume of diners, this was simply poor management. I will not be returning.
