Kids Miso Soup
Lauren W.

Our sushi bar experience with Chef Alan was excellent! Hamachi and salmon are our favorite and the onigiri were perfect! Kids meal was a very generous serving of yakisoba with a handful of nice crispy tofu on top. Kiddo loved the miso soup too. Great meal! Definitely recommend sitting at the sushi bar and having Alan make some sushi for you. Best sushi we've had aside from Akira!

Burnt katsu or not sure what it was meant to be actually

Ordered katsu ramen to go. The katsu was burnt and not even edible. The ramen broth was more like a miso than a ramen broth and couldn'teat that either. Waste of $

this place has amazing interior decor. cute little pockets of different vibes and the mood lighting is great. the miso soup was great as well. the fish was excellent quality, probably the best salmon i've had in a while. you could hear people singing karaoke next door but still an enjoyable scene. i've been thinking about the salmon since i went here and i will be back!

Beef Bento Box

Was craving some California rolls and always love the variety a bento box comes with. We got the beef one. Served over a bed of shredded cabbage. Side salad, rice, miso soup, 3 California rolls, & 2 pot stickers. I ordered for delivery and the food was still the perfect temperature! The soup was HOT, but at the point I could sip it comfortably. I was happy it wasn't cold upon arrival. I asked for no dressing on salad and it came just as I asked. Thank you! The California rolls were big, but they weren't sealed well so they wanted to unroll themselves so I had to pick them up and hold them together. But that's ok they were yummy and stuffed full. The rice was delicious with the beef and cabbage. The order came with a sauce in a small container- I assume for the potstickers? But unsure. Much lighter than the soy sauce. A single packet of soy sauce, chopsticks, and a couple napkins. Was perfect. The potstickers were really good. Not sure if it was pork or chicken inside- wish it had more info on what they used, but nonetheless they were good as well! The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because the beef had a little too much fat on nearly every piece. I get that it's used with a cheaper cut of beef, but I feel it always shows in the bento boxes unfortunately. Overall a good filling meal with leftovers, but definitely a bit disappointing to always see the flex and pieces of fat all over the meat. Luckily it wasn't chewy and had pretty good flavor. I like this restaurant and for $13 and some change for all this food I feel like it's pretty reasonable.

Spoonful of Miso Soup

Really sad to be giving this 1 star because this used to be my favorite sushi spot, but it has really gone downhill over the years. I ordered takeout via UberEats and was very disappointed with the quality of food that I received. First off, I got maybe two spoonfuls of miso soup (view attached photo for a very sad sight). Secondly, the sushi was probably the worst I have ever had in my life... Philly roll was missing smoked salmon. There's only 3 ingredients in a Philly roll and one was missing! Lastly, deep fried rolls were somehow stale and something just didn't taste right with them. Didn't even end up finishing everything. Really wanted some comfort food and ended up more uncomfortable than ever.

so awesome! music was so good from the second we walked in, bangers the whole time. lighting and bar area is cute and the "booth" seats are like old bus seats with seat belts?! so cute. food was so good by itself, didn't need much soy sauce. happy hour is $1 SAKE SHOTS?!! UNBEATABLE. dinner for 2 was less than $40 with more than a 20% tip! staff were so nice and both servers offered water and help! will be coming back for sure :)

No fancy bells, no whistle and just honest, no-frills service and fish so fresh you'd swear it still had stories to tell. The fish was fresh, cooked right, and full of flavor and none of that overworked nonsense, just straight-up tasty. If you're looking for glitz, keep wandering. But if you want a solid meal that feels like it came straight off the boat, this is your spot. I'd happily cast my line here again. My wife wanted soup or chowder so we tried Fisherman's Market in Eugene. Excellent choice! We shared a bowl of the clam chowder, a bowl of the seafood stew, and a couple pieces of fried salmon. Best decision ever. The stew was tomato based, lots of fish and just a bit of heat. The New England chowder was flavorful with lots of clams and potatoes. Salmon was equally good; the coating was light and their homemade tartar sauce very good. They offer 6 other sauces besides tarter and ketchup, which is a nice option. They have live fish and seafood, plus cases of whole crabs, fish filets and much more. Their cole slaw looked really good, but we had already eaten. Eugene is only 2 hours from home; we will be stopping there again.

Lunch is a good time to go cuz they have both lunch specials (for simpler meals if not craving a boil in a bag) & happy hour specials. Likely not as busy as weekend nights too. Can attest that ordering at the "dynamite" level of spiciness could be too hot for many diners. Food was delicious and the robot server is adorably polite. Only minor complaint were the portions of the corn, potatoes & sausage (basically a few slices of hot dog). Given the prices at this seafood restaurant, and the low cost of corn, potatoes & hot dog, why not increase the size of these items?! Star lost for portion size. Place isn't fancy but staff are friendly & prompt.

This isn't the place to bring a group. Inside is tight-there are two small low tables close by together and a narrow bar at one end with maybe 5 stools. There is an outdoor seating area but it was full today. Menu is fairly small. They have fish & chips, fish sandwiches, fish/shrimp salads and 3 types of grilled fish with rice. There are a few sides. There are also daily specials. We had a salmon sandwich with a side of fries and grilled yellowtail with rice which was the special for the day. The salmon sandwich (ordered no sauce or shredded cabbage) was good but nothing special. I'm sure the cabbage and tartar sauce would have given it a bit of zip. The fries were ok. The yellowtail didn't have much flavor until you out what tasted like a light teriyaki. It had brown rice which was nice & chewy and the sauce gave it flavor. You really have to cook fish with flavors like garlic, lemon or something to give it flavor. Service was really good. They were very willing to put things on the side or remove them. I don't think I'd go back. If it's nothing special, I'm not going to pay for a meal out.

The food was mediocre for the price back then.... HOWEVER, we decided to try it again because my son LOVED the lobster Mac n cheese. When we went back this time the food was fantastic!!! The fries as an appetizer were SO good! I ordered the long bone pork chop with arugula, and apple slaw, it was TO DIE FOR! Perfectly cooked and the pairing of fruits and veggies was amazing! I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and shared with my daughter. I've never really been a fan of main dishes not coming with at least one side but I did like that it was easy to share. 2 of my kids split a New York steak and it was the perfect amount of meat, it was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. Of course my other son ordered his old stand by of lobster Mac n cheese and loved it just as much. My husband had the seared ahi tuna. It was a lot smaller than we expected for the $$$. We are used to big Hawaii prices but with those prices you usually get a decent amount (I realize that it is easier to come by there). Our server was lovely and the atmosphere is very chic! It was disappointing, especially for the price of the meal. I came back a second time, thinking that maybe it was a fluke because I had sat at the bar. This time, the waitress was very kind, but the steak came out medium well. When you're paying $70+ for a steak and at a restaurant that claims to be a steakhouse, you expect the steak to be cooked right. Twice, months apart? I won't be back. The brussel sprouts were okay.

Ordered the Ikura onigiri and the Japanese Sweet Potato and the Agadashi Tofu. (I asked for miso butter on the side for me because I have found it overwhelms the potato which is seasoned really wonderfully). The Ikura Onirigi was simple and excellent. My favorite wishes that they would create an regular Onirigi Happy Hour where they are on discount so that those of us who just want to have half a dozen of those and a few drinks can come in and experience our heart's delight. My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second. The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!
