Just for the halibut!
Michael D.

Besides absolutely great fish and chips (and always a wide choice of fresh varieties) Newmans is the best choice for grilled seafood. Take out or eat in at this simple no frills Eugene highlight. The salmon is outrageously terrific as is the halibut and cod. Next time I will go for an oyster po boy. The fries are wonderful but today I decided to be healthier. So I chose Cole slaw and that was the best I've ever had. For a simple, healthy, great tasting meal you gotta love Newman's.

Another great visit! Ordering is quick and easy. Menu is displayed well. Lots of delicious options and specials offered. Fish always tastes fresh and flavorful. Very cozy and open spread out seating inside. Endless options of fish, seafood, cheese, oils, seasoning, pasta, wine, bread.. you name it they have it here for your pairing needs. I definitely need to come back and get some crab cakes and other options to take home next time. The staff seems well educated and kind. They even have recipe cards printed out on the counter for ideas. So smart. Our lunch was truly delicious and so filling! Cod fish & chips, Cajun shrimp, sauces. All so delicious!!

Halibut cheeks and chips

This was my first time to Newman's with the recommendation of both our van driver and a coworker who resides in Eugene. It will not be my last for certain. Both said Newmans had the best fish and chips. I decided before I went I was getting the Halibut and chips because it's something I always got in Anchorage and missed. Upon arriving I saw they had Halibut cheeks and chips as one of their specials. Cheeks are usually a local secret. Found them once in a restaurant in Anchorage. The man taking orders said they had some Cajun spice in the coating which completely sold me on getting them. Boy they did not disappoint! They were crispy, hot (temperature not spice) and delicious to the last bite along with the fries. I also ordered the Sweet Chili Shrimp salad, intending to eat it latter. After one bit to try it I couldn't stop. It's a blend of purple and green cabbage slaw with tiny bay shrimp and a sweet chili sauce on top. Very causal dining here, place your order at the window, eat in a covered open outdoor area. In the 20min I was there a man came out to empty the trash and wiped dirty tables and the counter against the wall. Parking is limited, so if busy would suggest you phone in your order and get it to go.

Eugene landmark that has the best fish and chips around . The fish is battered with a perfect amount of bread and it's not greasy. The clam chowder is spectacular. Love this place and a must when in Eugene. The service couldn't be more on point . Friendly , helpful and knowledgeable about fish. The place is clean and the outdoor seating is perfect .

Stopped over here on the way through town. I was suprised at how inexpensive things were until I got my food. The portions were small, but pretty appropriate to the price. The fries were cooked to a golden brown. The fried fish had a panko-like coating. The clam chowder tasted simple, and was pretty thin to be called a chowder. It also would've benefited from more seasoning and more richness. All in all, it was an acceptable meal, but I don't think I'd choose to stop here again. Parking was not easy and getting in and out of the lot was rough. Service was friendly. There is outdoor seating.

The best meal I had in Eugene and surely the best fish & chips I have had anywhere, this place is amazing! It was a lovely June day in Eugene that called for some fresh seafood and Newman's delivered. I got the Halibut Fish & Chips along with some fried shrimp and the sweet chili shrimp salad. It all was amazing, and the guys working the counter were great! I will surely go back if I am ever in Eugene, this is a cant miss spot!

3 Pieces Cod

What a gem in Eugene! Newman's is a seafood shop/market that also sells food. There's a window on the side of the shop where you order your meal and plenty of seating outdoors and indoors. I ordered a 3 piece fish and chips with cod and this was chef's kiss. The fish was so tender and so lightly breaded, it was perfect. Fries were also nicely crispy on the outside while still soft on the inside. What more can I ask for? AND this was just $11! You won't find prices this good anywhere else.

Fried Salmon with tartar dipping saice and coleslaw on the side.

I was very surprised to hear of such a great restaurant that served only seafood in Eugene, Oregon. A couple of my friends told me about the place and it did not disappoint. The po'boy was made perfectly with just the right amount of sauce to bring out the flavors in the fried oyster. The fried salmon is a classic done well, and their house made tartar sauce is a great option for pairing. I highly recommend this place if you want seafood classics done the right way. I look to visit this place again, regularly when I'm in the city. Also, their staff is very friendly. Go check them out today!

It's my sister's favorite butcher shop though, and when I'm going to make a pot roast I want to use the best meat, so we stopped by here. It was larger and more spacious than a lot of butchers which I appreciated--often they're super crowded. The area where you enter has a nice selection of cheese and wines as well as some other foods. The staff was friendly and helpful. ETA: Today when I started to make my pot roast, imagine my surprise when I found that I had two chuck steaks... not really super conducive to pot roast, and a little annoying since I asked for chuck roast. I've been to other butchers and asked for chuck roast and never been given bone-in chuck steak. This isn't something I could use because it wouldn't fit into the pot and I couldn't cut it with the bone in, so I had to go buy another $40 of meat at Albertson's. Not sure that I'll be returning to Long's. Hope my sister can use the meat so it won't be a total waste of the $30 I spent here.

It is abundantly clear the owner loves his business and will talk to you about basically anything, give tips, helpful recipes, and so much more. I'm a food blogger and so I love talking about recipes with him, but he is great with food styling too, and makes sure if I'm using whatever meat for a blog recipe that it's absolutely perfect. All I have to do is ask, and it's done. They run weekly specials, and it's always a great way to stock the freezer. The specials rotate too, so it is different each week. We also really love the ribeye steaks, which are perfect for a stay home date night meal. They also make food there like sandwiches and other things. Which I often forget, but the owner can absolutely cook. His baked beans are a favorite of mine, and I generally hate beans, which says something to me. Would I return? Absolutely. This is easily one of my favorite small local businesses to get behind and support. The customer service and product are always on point. You get some friendly advice, a little neighborhood gossip, and your meat nicely wrapped in brown paper. The great thing about Benedetti's is they also have a small lunch counter and grill offering up classic east coast deli sandwiches like chicken parmigiana, Reubens, and more. I stopped in for a quick lunch based on the recommendation of fellow Yelper Mark M., and I couldn't be more appreciative of his advice! The cook was super friendly and we chatted up a storm while he prepared my turkey club with bacon and avocado. He grilled the turkey, which came as a surprise to me... but I loved it! They don't have indoor dining at the moment, so I took my lunch to a nearby park and had an amazing time. If you find yourself in Springfield or Eugene, stop by Benedetti's for a little nostalgia and a full and happy belly!

No fancy bells, no whistle and just honest, no-frills service and fish so fresh you'd swear it still had stories to tell. The fish was fresh, cooked right, and full of flavor and none of that overworked nonsense, just straight-up tasty. If you're looking for glitz, keep wandering. My wife wanted soup or chowder so we tried Fisherman's Market in Eugene. Excellent choice! We shared a bowl of the clam chowder, a bowl of the seafood stew, and a couple pieces of fried salmon. Best decision ever. The stew was tomato based, lots of fish and just a bit of heat. The New England chowder was flavorful with lots of clams and potatoes. Salmon was equally good; the coating was light and their homemade tartar sauce very good. They offer 6 other sauces besides tarter and ketchup, which is a nice option. They have live fish and seafood, plus cases of whole crabs, fish filets and much more. Their cole slaw looked really good, but we had already eaten. I got the grilled cheese sandwich offering, but also decided to try their Dubai brownie and a pistachio hot chocolate. First, my only issue, it was a little confusing to order. There was a kiosk where you order yourself in one window, then in the next window there was a spot you could order with someone. I don't know if you could order the same things at both sections, I'd assume so. But this is a very minima thing. As soon as I was ordering an employee greeted me and if I hadn't figured it out I'm sure I could've asked. Now the good stuff- the sandwich was amazing. I believe it's just offered for this month, but I'd happily try their other offerings. The flavors were balanced, it was a good portion, it was hit, fresh ingredients. The Dubai brownie and hot chocolate were also excellent. Rich, chocolate Lu, everything you want. They make the pistachio sauce for the hot chocolate in house from what I was told, and i could taste it. Adding a couple nice espresso shots would make an amazing mocha too. They have a pretty extensive list of Dubai items, so if you haven't tried it or you love it they have a great selection from cookies and cheesecakes to strawberry cups and the hot chocolate. It's set in the 5th street public market, a couple chairs and tables around. When it's busy it might be hard to find a seat, but it's a neat location and easy to take to go.
