We wanted lunch with a view... And we got it! This restaurant sits right along the Willamette River and has beautiful scenery of the river and trees. Very relaxing and a perfect spot for our family lunch. *We could do without all the aggressive bees, but that couldn't be helped. However, I'd sit inside if you're allergic because they do sit on your food and aren't afraid to take a nap on your arm or shoulder. My daughter ordered the cubano sandwich and she liked it, but it was a bit dry. My hubby had the smashburger, it was a little on the small side. I ordered the fish and chips, which was just ok, and I shared some with my hubby since I wasn't that hungry. It didn't look like the picture, but it was fine. Overall, I wouldn't come here expecting amazing food. I would come here for the amazing views, great atmosphere, and the friendly staff. read more

This place has a such a lovely ambiance! It's so elegant, but cozy! We got a patio table and had a great view of the lake and sunset. We ordered the meat and cheese board, and it was delicious and not too filling. Which was great, so I can enjoy my delicious entre. My husband ordered the half chicken plate, which was amazingly cooked and the Brussel sprouts were yummy! I ordered the salmon plate with carrots. The salmon was so soft and yummy! Our waitress, Aspen, was very warm and friendly. Overall, great experience! read more

Disappointed! I was excited to enjoy a nice meal with my kids. The ambience is beautiful and the evening started out perfect. The tempura asparagus appetizer is amazing. Note, this place is pricey but I heard good things about it. My kids ordered the duck and the steak, both which were wonderful. I decided to treat myself to the halibut which was $58. I have had halibut before it is such a buttery white fish. However, I was very disappointed by the lack of flavor- it was bland so I needed to add salt & pepper. It came on what appeared to be hummus with some nuts scattered over it and two small leaks cut down the middle and charred. Not what I expected for $58. Secondly, it was like someone boiled the fish- it was rubbery. This fish when cooked correctly is very moist and buttery. This one was not, and I mentioned it to our server. I said he needs to tell the chef that this is not a good representation of the dish. I thought I was going to be very excited about my meal but I was not. Our server said he would tell the chef. We paid and left. I noticed when we got home and I looked at the bill there was no consideration for my poor quality entree meal. Very disappointed that there was not a free dessert or anything compensation. This should not have been my experience on a $217 bill. Disappointed customer. read more

Sadly, this Mother's Day brunch was so different from the one Sweetwaters on the River presented last year. Not only was it $30 more than it was last year per person, the food and presentation was a shadow of what brunch was last year. Our server was great, but not one assistant manager or manager, stopped by our table to greet us at any time during our meal. Last year we had an assistant manager and a manager come over to our table and have an actual conversation with us and this year I felt we could've had the same experience at the Sizzler at a much cheaper price. They also suddenly discontinued their happy hour a few weeks ago, so I have no real motivation to come back to this location. read more

We were celebrating my Mother In-laws 80th with family and friends. Sweet Waters is known for its river view, excellent service and entrees. The dining area has great views of the river with ample seating for every party size. We had a party of about 8, we were seated a few rows back from the main windows. Our waitress was very friendly and quickly took our food orders. The Brunch menu offers a large variety of food options from Classic Breakfast dishes to Sandwiches and Burgers. To start a few enjoyed Mimosa's. We then ordered the Scramble, it is served with smoked bacon, piquillo pepper, green onions, cheddar, crisp gold potatoes and choice of toast, a fairly ample plate of food, our party also had the Classic Benedict, poached egg, English muffin, a good portion of shaved ham and a nice portion of hollandaise, a standout dish was the Crab Benedict, with a very generous portion of warmed crab, poached eggs, hollandaise and an amazing salad. All the food was well prepared and well presented, everyone enjoyed their meals. At the end of our meal my Mother In-law was presented a sweet treat, and we all sang Happy Birthday to her. We all had a great time socializing and taking in the views and the ambiance. I am not sure why the ratings are so low for Sweet Waters, we had an amazing time as a family. I look forward to our next visit. read more

Atmosphere was beautiful, our waitress Skylar was exceptional. Unfortunately the entrees we ordered were improperly cooked and underseasoned. Protein was at correct temp but vegetables were raw & bitter. My husband had the Roast Chicken & I had the Halibut. We were compensated for the discrepancy & got a free desert as well. Didn't feel the quality matched the expensive price. read more

What a great place to stop and eat. I had the most delicious lunch trio. Soup, salad, and a half sandwich. The freshest ingredients. All of it was super tasty and very fresh. I had the house salad , the perfect greens with cucumbers and sunflower seeds. The soup was tomato basil. I'm a soup snob and this was delicious! For my sandwich I had the French Dip. One of the best I've ever had. Caramelized onions and guyerre cheese , the beef was finely shaved and the au jus was fantastic. All of this yumminess while sitting next to the Willamette river was just what my soul needed! I will be back !! read more

Service and ambiance is fantastic. The food not. Not a lot of seasoning. This place could rock but the menu is very limited and the food is 2 and 3. This is our 3rd time here brunch lunch and dinner. The place deserves a great chef. read more

This is a return visit from seven months ago and wow, so much better! Harrison our waiter was excellent, he also indicated that there's a new chef now. Very apparent! The dungeness crab cake was absolutely amazing. The accompanying Sriracha Remoulade was just the right spice and made the dish.Along with the arugula. Enough for 2 or maybe 3 people to have a bite. I ordered the amazing cod beer battered fish and chips for only $20. They have a Halibut option for like $8 more, I like the cod. This fish and chips are the best I've ever had. Light and crispy, just like they serve in Ireland! Spot on. I ordered the fries extra crispy because last time I was here, the sring shoe ones were horrible, limp and over cooked. Not now, they've even changed to a larger flat French fry and a wonderful slightly spicy seasoning. My husband also liked his. Now the coleslaw is another issue, I told our waiter Harrison that they should leave it off the plate or get it right. Not only was it tasteless, but it looked like it was at its peak about five days ago was slightly browning edges. That's okay. The rest of it was awesome so I'll forgive the chef for that one, plus everyone else in our group loved the service and the food. Our son ordered the rigatoni and elk meatballs. He said it was an amazing dish, complimented by the arugula and pine nut salad. His partner ordered the beef and pork meatloaf with port wine brown glaze, garlic mashed potatoes and baby carrots. His comment was simply amazing. My husband ordered their roasted turkey BLT with fries. A winner!!! read more

So disappointing this is the third time this year we have eaten here .. I have always made a reservation this last time I requested outside it was a 88th birthday celebration which I let them know how special it was we arrived 5 min before our reservation .. they did NOT want us outside keep telling us how much longer we would have to wait outside of our reservation but they had a table inside right now set up for eight.. breakfast took over an hour to receive no one got there food at the same time it was cold it was not good and 200 + plus dollars later not a mention of our celebration I am done with this place !! read more

Well, what a difference a year makes. Huge disappointment this time around. Took my daughter there again, this time to celebrate a birthday. Failed on every point. I got the Caesar salad with the premium add-on of king salmon, requested medium rare. It came out hammered, with the albumen all oozing out and almost white throughout. $19 for this add on, uhm, no thank you. The dressing was so bland, too! No citrus, no anchovy, no salt. My daughter got the Cubano - stacked high with plain shredded meat, no pickle or mustard to speak of. When I mentioned my salmon disappointment, the server told me that "I should have said something earlier", though I had eaten less than 1/4 of the dish. No discount offered. Bummer. It had great potential, and was outstanding the previous two visits last year. read more

What a wonderful experience, starting with the food, but enhanced by the incredible service we received by Jeremy. He was so passionate when he was describing the specials, answered all of our questions with patience and grace, allowed me to make a substitution that ended up making my dinner divine. The New York, cooked exactly as ordered, with greens and garlic mashers was perfection. We will be sure to come back when I return to Oregon. read more

Service was nice. Felt a bit like we were kinda rushed. It was a Tuesday at around 6:30pm and the restaurant was not busy so I'm not sure why it felt like they wanted us to eat and drink our food fast. We ordered a couple of drinks and other than having bunch of appetizers, we got the salad with chicken as the entree. The food was good, it had a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed our time relaxing a little bit while looking at the river with the sun in our eyes. read more

Went here to have brunch with family . My daughter had called yesterday made reservations at 11 for outdoor seating knowing it was going to be a beautiful day . We got there they told would be 45 min. That was disappointing so we ending up eating inside was a little frustrating also because after sat down before we even ordered tables opened up outside I feel like they should of offered for us to move out there . Our waitress Dawn was really nice . The decor clean and comfortable. I orders the grilled chicken sandwich with no bun and the fries were the perfect crispness. It was juicy and I would order again that way again . My daughter got the same with bun hers was chewy but she said bun was good. My husband got the Cuban didn't have a lot of flavor and was missing more sauce or mustard. He did get the house tomato soup he loved it said it was really good. My other daughter got the burger she said it was alright. Her boyfriend got the huevos rancheros he said it was the bomb. It looked good. We will go back . Just disappointed we didn't get to sit outside since we did make reservations for that reason. read more

Amazing service! Great cocktails. Fabulous atmosphere. Love the location! Decent food. NY strip was underwhelming. Nice but very drunk guy hanging out at the hostess stand talking to patrons as they enter, which was unprofessional. If he was the owner of the place, he shouldn't be inebriated while at the host stand. read more

Eugene's favorite on the river restaurant has been reborn. Redecorated its new bright, clean, modern and comfortable atmosphere is most welcoming. The full service bar terrific and you can't beat the tables on the deck overlooking an impressive river view. The food for dinner and breakfast is also very good. The energetic staff is doing an outstanding job as they become comfortable with building what promises to soon be a gem of Eugene's fine dining. read more

I recently stayed in the hotel here for three days. With the weather storming, I didn't go out much. I had three dinners and two breakfasts here at Sweet Waters. The view through the big picture windows looking out on the river is great and the restaurant's three- tier construction makes great use of it. The cocktails were great. The food was good. The prime rib (fridays and Saturdays) was excellent. Everything else was good and fairly commensurate with price. The service was not so good. The servers are running ragged. They are just under-staffed. Even with everyone pulling 110%, they can't give good service for dinner or breakfast. The management needs to bring on more staff so that the staff can deliver what they're capable of. read more

We have often enjoyed a great view and dinner at Sweet Waters. Thought we would try the happy hour and watch The Masters. Drink was great, no name, and draft pour was great, fries for six bucks did the job. The worst part was the service from the bartender. They never checked in after an hour, after several eye contacts. Seemed to be more engaged in meeting the male customer at the bar, as the bartender voice and conversation was all you could hear. Very disappointing to have such poor customer service from what should be an experienced bartender and exceptional customer service. Due to her poor work performance they've lost a customer. We didn't even get the check we just left cash on the table. Saw her running to the table once she noticed that. Yes we paid in full and a small tip, because that's the right thing to do. Please improve your customer service as a bartender. read more

The absolute worst service! The server did not take our order until we complained that we hadn't seen him for 30 minutes! We had a wonderful dinner celebrating our 45th anniversary! Our server, Shelby was so attentive and friendly. She made our evening very special! I love that she didn't rush us through dinner. We had a 2 hour dinner which is exactly what I like. We had outdoor seating and the view of the river was beautiful and peaceful. Their focaccia is good. It could be improved with an option to have oil & balsamic vinegar instead of butter. Their price for farm-raised salmon is steep. Considering we live in the Pacific Northwest and there is an abundance of fresh salmon available. The wine selection is extensive. We started with a glass of bubbles and then enjoyed a new Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills. Their Sommelier, Jacob is very knowledgeable. The hostess, bartender and servers are all friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner. read more

Had the steak frites and it was good. Service was marginal and the waiter gave us all weird vibes. Not impressed. One in our party ordered grilled Brussel Sprouts and they didn't show up till he was almost done with his steak! Ambience was nice and the place did have a nice feel to it but very loud as the remodel did away with the partitions. Pretty tough when you have a party of four and you have to keep repeating yourself. Also, tables are very close, ala cafeteria-style, so you best like your neighbors! read more

In town for a wedding and found this gem just a few minutes walk along the river from our hotel. Made a reservation but got there 45min early and they seated us in a cute table with a view of the river! Chairs were very comfortable BTW... I had a signature cocktail - the Bourbon Cosmo and it was very good. We switched to Chardonnay for the dinner. It was very nice too! I had the grilled half chicken and my wife had the salmon. Both were delicious. I really liked the mushroom and potatoes that came with the chicken. Our server was very friendly helpful and attentive. So was the manager- he gave us some local bar referrals that were perfect for us! highly recommended! read more

I totally recommend this place. My daughter graduated this week and we were here at some point. The food is delicious, tasty burger and appetizers! Our waitress was very nice and the hostess was great. My wife and I were here in March, the initial service when seated was super slow and the follow up visits also slow. This weeks visit we finished our appetizers before our ordered drinks arrived. This week was graduation week, busy, I get it, but service was the same 3 months ago when the place was almost empty. We've now been back twice -- and honestly, a big reason is Lynda. We first came in for happy hour and loved it so much we returned again for lunch... and still ordered off the happy hour menu because it's that good. There's a nice variety to choose from, not just the usual basics, and everything we've tried has been consistently solid. Lynda is truly what makes it special. She's warm, personable, and genuinely kind -- not forced, just real. She remembers you, checks in without hovering, and makes you feel taken care of in a way that keeps you coming back. Great food, great river view, and standout service. We'll definitely be back again. read more
