I'm not sure why I've never been here before but the Mrs was very excited to have me try it out. So here we are. The hostess was dressed very elegantly and asked if we had reservations, we did not. No problem, she found us a table readily enough. We were expecting friends to join us and thought the table to be a bit small.... 'Oh no problem, we can seat you here is this acceptable?' Wow Such gracious professionalism and courtesy, the entire staff was like that. Even the table bussers who went around refilling waters and clearing plates had the same level of service. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant with a smile that lit the table. She took our drink and appetizer requests. At one point my friend had switched to a different drink on a refill and the bar made a mistake. She was so gracious about it and corrected it without missing a step. Just awesome service. For an appetizer we started with some calamari. It was very tender, not chewy at all. It came with a spicy Green Goddess dipping sauce that had a bit of heat. The Truffle Fries were done nicely with truffle oil and parmesan sprinkled over all. I found them to be tasty with a nice light outer crisp and not oily. The truffle flavor was a unique taste and went well with the parmesan. The Wagyu Burger on a Brioche Bun was outstanding. The beef flavor was very pronounced and barely needed any seasoning. It came with melted cheese, lettuce, onion and fresh cucumber instead of pickle. The cucumber was sliced extremely thin and brought an aromatic flavor to the burger that was superb, just a very fine and refreshing fragrant flavor of fresh cucumber. The Truffle Fries appetizer was so good I also had it with the Wagyu Burger. The Wagyu Burger itself is cooked with 'pink' or 'no pink'. An interesting choice. The Dulce De Leche cheesecake was creamy, smooth and flavorful with a fantastic caramel drizzle. Fresh thin sliced strawberries were layered on top for an amazing flavor profile with a white chocolate and caramel swirl cheesecake. We visited for quite a while, we were not rushed, the seating was comfortable. Pleasant background music played overhead and the lighting wasn't too dim or intrusively bright.

Amazing food and service, it's so beautiful inside and outside. You can tell that they spent time cooking and plating every dish.

    glare from terrible lighting

We had below average food and service on a quiet summer night. The calamari was too-tiny rings with greasy batter slightly overcooked and paired with a heavy mayo sauce. Pork chop, as others have noted, was covered in a cloying sweet brown gravy and served with runny mashed potatoes and crunchy veg. Salmon was also overpowered by a lemon-butter goo and served with ghastly salty arancini balls - would have been better with plain wild rice. Kitchen here seems in disarray. Old fashioned was also too sweet and lacked proper size single ice ball so even the bar is sloppy. Service was beyond slow, despite only a couple other tables. And although we sat inside the doors were open so we were pestered by flies the whole time. The lighting here is horrific - bare light bulbs at full intensity set very low give it the feeling of a stage.

Happy hour tavern chips. The cheese dip is quite good! - A rectangular white serving plate contains a small cast iron skillet of melted cheese dip garnished with herbs, two small bowls of salsa and sour cream, and a large portion of tortilla chips. The plate is placed on a dark wooden table in a restaurant setting, with some blurred background elements visible.

We visited Gordon Tavern for Happy Hour on a home game day so we expected it to be packed but we were seated right away. The rest of our service was quite slow despite it not actually being that busy but our server was friendly. They really have a good happy hour menu. The food was all pretty good and we got out of there for around $40 for two drinks and 3 happy hour items. I would definitely visit for Happy Hour again (really want to try their pizza).

Very disappointed, won't return. The buffet selection was limited, and Benedict's eggs were poorly prepared. The muffins were so hard that we couldn't cut through them. Our server brought us fresh ones, but unfortunately, the muffins weren't even toasted. We just ate the tops off of them because we were hungry and were saving our appetite for Brunch. Given the price of $50 per person, I expected a much higher standard of food preparation and service. To add to our disappointment, no manager checked in with us to see if we were satisfied, even though our dissatisfaction was evident. Because of these issues, I don't plan to return to your restaurant.

Wow! This food is insanely delicious! As we knew that we would be passing through Eugene yesterday,…read moreI started looking up restaurants. I was enticed by the pictures of fresh salads and wood fired pizzas. We ended up getting a few pizzas, a couple different pastas. They were all so flavorful (not salty) the texture of the gnocchi was so soft and absorbed the flavorful sauce. We were all blown away. We used QR to order, and were advised to order in waves. Drinks first. Everything came out promptly, even though the restaurant was pretty full. The last few days we ate at some incredible restaurants. Cold Springs Tavern in Santa Barbara, Nepenthe in Big Sur, then we come to Osteria DOP and all agreed the food here was unmatched. The best. For driving many hours, I liked that the atmosphere was casual, but it still looked modern and nice.

Their food really does live up to the hype. The pizza has a perfect airy, charred crust with just…read morethe right amount of crispy and chewy. The pasta was a nice al dente and had a good coat of sauce. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, the food came relatively quickly! The restaurant has limited tables, so expect a wait! There are also bar seats and seats that face a wall. There are QR codes at tables to scan and place your order, and the waiters that bring/bus food were super friendly. All and all, Osteria DOP was a great experience! I will be back to try out more items from their menu.

And Track Town Pizza... well, that place doesn't just serve slices it serves time itself. Let me set the scene. I'm posted up at the Hayward Inn, a stone's throw from the sacred ground of Hayward Field. Every visit, no matter how many years pass, there's a ritual: lace up the memories, walk the same streets, and end up right where the legends linger under the warm lights of Track Town Pizza. You walk in, and there he is... Steve Prefontaine... staring down like he never left. Not just a photo more like a reminder. Now here's a little flavor for the soul: Track Town Pizza opened back in the late 1970s, built right in the heartbeat of what folks call "TrackTown USA." It became a hangout for runners, students, dreamers anybody chasing something. And yeah, over the years, plenty of local characters passed through bartenders, staff, regulars who became part of the story. Guys like Steve Fontaine? They weren't just pouring drinks they were part of the era, part of that gritty, analog Eugene vibe. We're talking decades back now roughly 30 to 40 years ago when this place felt like a clubhouse for the track-and-field faithful. But for me, this isn't just history it's personal. When I was younger, I didn't have much... but I could run. And like a lot of kids trying to find their lane in life, I found mine looking up to Prefontaine. The way he pushed, the way he talked "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." That stuck. Still does. So every time I walk into Track Town Pizza, it's not just about grabbing a slice it's like shaking hands with that younger version of myself. The kid who believed grit could take you somewhere. And let me tell you the pizza? Still hits like a victory lap. Old-school, no nonsense, loaded the way it should be. No gimmicks. Just honest, legendary pies that have fed generations of runners and late-night thinkers. So yeah... five stars doesn't even cut it. Because this place isn't just my favorite spot near campus it's a time machine. It's a shrine. It's a reminder that dreams don't die, they just wait for you to come back and visit. And every time I'm in Eugene, I do just that.

Like if the pizza gods held the Olympics and awarded gold medals for cheese, crust, and pure happiness, this place would sweep the podium. The crust? Perfect. The cheese? Glorious. The toppings? A majestic avalanche of deliciousness. One bite and I briefly considered moving to Eugene and building my entire life around being within a 3-minute radius of this pizza. Honestly, if aliens landed tomorrow and demanded to know the pinnacle of human achievement, I'd skip the pyramids and just hand them a slice from Track Town Pizza.
