    #3. Huli Huli Chicken

Out traveling to Eugene and decide to eat here. The service was great, our food was fresh and YUMMY! I've eaten other locations in town and this restaurant is the best one. Thank you

Mauna Loa Chicken (tastes like teriyaki chicken)

SHAME ON YOU!! Return trip to Eugene and was craving Hawaiian plate lunch. I came across this place and my heart skipped a beat and I thought I could get some comfort food. Shameful that they would call themselves "Hawaiian" because there was nothing Hawaiian about it. Sure they served kalua pig, offered mac salad and scoops of rice with the meal, but that was it. We ordered Huli Huli chicken & the Mauna Loa chicken. Firstly, Huli Huli means to slowly turn--roasted/grilled chicken--should be whole pieces or maybe served on skewers. I'm not sure what I got, but it wasn't huli huli like I am used to having. This should be renamed Teriyaki Chicken! Next was their Mauna Loa Volcano Chicken--supposed to be sweet with a little spicy?? NOT!! The 2 chicken dishes both looked and tasted like teriyaki chicken, but to make matters worse, they didn't even care to differentiate the 2 because to them it is probably all the same--like teriyaki chicken. The mac salad was okay, but classic Hawaiian mac salad has some carrots in it...this had nothing. Bigger disappointment is there was no beef offerings or seafood and only offered kalua pig. No teri beef, kalbi, garlic shrimp or chicken katsu. I can understand not offering saimin (ramen), but to not offer the basic loco-moco, a Hawaiian standard is terrible. Let's not even talk about their failure to provide any kind of SPAM on the menu or ANY KIND of musubi. Please remove any reference to Hawaii, Hawaiian or Hawaiian plate lunch from your business name and offerings because clearly you are not. Selling Hawaiian Sun drinks is not a saving grace. If this is a franchise, then ALL your franchises have got it wrong--there is ZERO authenticity and consider adding quotes around the name "Hawaiian" because it seems more of an attempt to make Hawaiian-like food without any authenticity.

Felt super hungry after work, so I wanted something super filling and with a huge portion. So glad I came here! The place was under renovation, so the tables were put away. However, the staff was super nice. The flavor of the beef was soooo good! It was really filling and I couldn't finish it, so I kept it for my next meal. It was 2 meals in one haha, and for what it cost the return ratio was high! Would go again!! 10/10 recommend

I ordered my food in advance over their website (a bit outdated but worked alright), and it was ready within about 20 minutes. After tip, I ended up paying 15 dollars for the combination plate of rice, Mac salad, the Mauna Loa chicken, and the Huli Huli chicken. Before other charges, it is 11.95. I feel that I could have maybe gotten some more food for the price, but it was pretty good! It's okay Hawaiian good for Eugene, but the overall service was great! Very friendly servers.

They have beef back on the menu. It's good. I think the Loren style garlic beef is better than the teriyaki.

One of our good friends is Hawaiian and therefore quite opinionated on the subject. Finding authentic and delicious Hawaiian food is a legit challenge. We walked up to the truck and were immediately greeted by the cashier. He was friendly and helpful. The first thing I noticed was his accent. He sounded exactly like the Hawaiian friend I mentioned earlier. So I thought this was a good sign. Both him and the other employee who gave us our food were super friendly and kind. That vibe and energy always makes me smile. My husband ordered the garlic chicken and I ordered teriyaki beef. They only had three options on the menu, and the third being pulled pork. Both plates came with rice and macaroni salad. Everything was delicious. Portions seemed a tad small for the price, but I really didn't care. I was full, and it was delicious. I text our friend about this business, and he said it is hands down THE best Hawaiian food in town. Which I definitely agree with. It is a small family run business, and I love it. Our friend said they've scaled back to only doing events like the spring game where we found them and catering, which makes me super sad. Because I would totally go out of my way to visit them and eat there again. I'd become a regular real quick. Despite the fact they only do events and catering, if you find them at an event you're attending, give them a try! It is so worth it. You'll thank me, I promise. Review 29 of 2025.

Cute and casual spot with picnic tables and booths inside. They had Bob Ross painting on TV. I got the mixed place so I could try two things and I got the lava chicken and garlic shrimp. The lava chicken was just spicy enough and the garlic shrimp was plump and delicious. Their mac salad offered a nice balance to the spicy chicken. My only critique of my entire experience was that the rice under my shrimp was a tad greasy and they could have drained the shrimp a little better? My husband got the ribs. They had great flavor and the coconut-lime slaw was fascinating. I expected it to have some coconut in it or something for the coconut flavor but there was actually coconut milk in the dressing and it made for a nice palate cleanser after the spicy and savory ribs and noodles. This place is pretty far from us but it was worth the drive across town and I want to try more things on their menu next time. We'll be back!

The Katsu crust was super crunchy and held up well to the deliciously spicy katsu sauce and the juice from the slaw without ever getting soggy. The fish was nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough katsu sauce and I had to request more. My wife tried the Pork Bulgogi plate. It was very flavorful and tasty but the meat was so full of fat and gristle it was hard to eat. She tossed half the meat, that's why I took off the 5th star from this review. Accessibility is definitely an area that could use some attention. The restrooms were also located outside and, unfortunately, were quite dingy and in need of a thorough cleaning. For lunch, we ordered the fish and chips special, crab cakes, and clam chowder. The clam chowder was the biggest disappointment-there was very little seafood and it was mostly potatoes. The crab cakes were also far too salty. I understand that crab cakes are often seasoned aggressively, but these crossed into territory that made them difficult to enjoy. The fish and chips ended up being the saving grace of the meal: crispy, flavorful, and easily the best dish we ordered. We also shared a kombucha, which was refreshing and paired nicely with lunch. Pricing was reasonable, but for me the food quality and execution didn't quite justify the reputation. Parking was also challenging, especially during the busy lunch rush. Overall, it was an average experience with a few bright spots, but there's definitely room for improvement
