The food here is great. Literally a great amount of flavor and even the cashier's customer service is great! This review is solely on the execution of our orders because my boyfriend and I have been here a few times and have had mess ups on three orders in a row. I'm not sure if "No Mac" is unheard of but apparently that means "Extra" here? Lol. I'm not a fan of the Mac so I like to order a side of veggies in substitution for it. However, on three different occasions have I gotten Mac instead of veggies. And we even paid the extra charge for extra veggies and somehow only got 5 pieces of broccoli. It's unfortunate that this keeps on happening and we get home (because only take out is offered) with a screwed up order that we're paying money on. At the end of the day, I still enjoy the food. I just thought that this would help slow the kitchen down because on each occasion that this has happened, it's been pretty slow and to take into consideration what people are actually paying for. read more

Positives- all staff wearing masks and following best practices with line spacing and social distancing for take out orders. Not all restaurants in the area even having servers wear masks. Fairly fast moving line and servers were nice, both when taking order by phone and when checking out. Quick to have order ready. Good portions on their regular size plate lunches. Negatives- not the best Hawaiian food I've had. Rice was cooked well, but mac salad was peppery and not very tasty. No shredded veggies. Maybe some Kewpie mayo would help? I've been going to HT for close to 20 years. The food is similar, quality has diminished a little I'd say. I usually go once a month or so. The thing that's changed is the service and the way they do business. At the Coburg location there's a girl at the counter that's not cut out for the restaurant business, I'll leave it at that. They didn't have teriyaki in containers the last few times I've been, but I saw them selling bottles of the teriyaki. Maybe it's a cost cutting measure? They used to include 2 containers with your meal. They no longer take food orders over the phone and I heard the phone ringing off the hook while in the store while the same uninspired counter employee sat at the front counter doing nothing. I have to think they're losing business with less tech savvy folks. The Coburg store always seems dirty. Prices have increased, but prices have increased everywhere. My concern is people will stop going and they close down. HT is a great Eugene institution and I hope they can get their act together. read more

What I tried the Huli Huli chicken and it was very well done. The flavors were very nice and my taste buds very much appreciated that.

This is our go to place for takeout because it's close, good portion sizes, and the food isn't gross when getting it to-go. We always order over the phone prior and the food is always ready. I love how they have the option to switch out for veggies instead of rice. read more

My dad called in an order over the phone on his way home. When he went to pick it up, the lady who was working told him it was grubhub and he didn't have to pay so I guess a free meal? She was so extremely rude to him and correcting him saying he ordered it online though grubhub but he 100% did not. He said he had to pay various times and she acted like he was an idiot. I've never written a review in my life, but I had to leave one here. My review isn't about the food. I've always loved it. But the service today (6/24) was terrible. The cashier was Prynce W. The ordering was fine, but while I was waiting for my order, Prynce started talking to one of the cooks while my food sat next to them ready to go. I watched them and waited for a few minutes, hoping they'd see the food. Eventually I got it. Then I asked for extra teriyaki, and Prynce grabbed a few and practically tossed them at me, like they didn't even care. I was so irritated and upset. I drove to this location the other day, even though I am closer to the River rd drive up location because the other location has had way to many hit, and misses. With those being more misses that hits as of late. I did carry out here, and did notice they have some tables set up outside for those who want to dine there. That being said there are not very many, and you can't dine inside. I called my order in before arriving, so I didn't have a wait. The food was ready as soon as I showed up. I ordered two of the chicken salads, and a number 3. The number 3 was for our out of town friend who has never had HTC before. Now my driving time to get home was probably 12-15 mins. The food was still good, and definitely worth the drive compared to what it has been at the River rd location. Our friend really liked his number 3, and he took his left overs home with him. Next time I am craving some Hawaiian Time I will have to make the drive again, because the River road one hasn't been settling well with either one of us. Not sure why this is not rated higher but this is so delicious! Its a chain, yes, but it is a local chain. It was fresh and the sauce they used was perfect! My husband absolutely loves this place, grew up enjoying the huli huli chicken. Me, on the other hand? Not so much favorite. Not the worst. Definitely not my first choice. We always get the huli huli chicken here, which I find excessively salty. This is probably why my husband loves it, since he loves salt like Buddy the Elf loves sugar. Come to think of it, he likes sugar as much as Buddy too. The mac salad is the only mac salad my husband will eat, but it's too creamy, too much mayo in it. If you haven't heard me talk about Hawaii enough, let me tell you how it seems to have followed me on vacation too! Imagine my surprise to find an authentic Hawaiian eatery in Oregon! I ordered the kahlua pork and the Lau Lau chicken, both served as a plate lunch with mac salad and rice. Unfortunately the pork was not served in the traditional style with cabbage. Had it been, it would have suffused the smoky flavour and brought out the nuances in the pig. One small thing.. Why no Haupia? Haupia is the definitive Hawaiian dessert. Had the Kalua Pork Sandwhich. It took 15 minutes to make, which for the traffic, was pretty fast. Holy crap though, the Sandwhich was so salty! I couldn't finish it. The bread was dry. The only good thing was the spoonful of macaroni salad that came with it. My friends who came with me had the teriyaki steak and a veggie plate. It took the restaurant 45 minutes to make, and each friend had more bad than good to say about their dishes, on top of being cold. I wouldn't recommend and won't come back. My Huli huli chickin was absolutely busting! I came in ordered and get my food in about 4 minutes. Exceptional! I experienced Nori for the first time ever and it really got me going. So I eat a lot of teriyaki and am new to the area. I was thrilled when my coworker mentioned they had teriyaki chicken so I decided to try it. Let's say I was pretty disappointed. Chicken- the chicken tasted great but there was enough for maybe a toddler to eat. I got the ref size. Sides- It comes with a ton of rice and that's mainly what you're paying for. Veggies- I got the meal thatcones with veggies and am not a fan of Mac salad so I got extra veggies and paid the extra. Big mistake. They are flavorless and not fully cooked. Overall for over $10 I won't be back and won't recommend to others. I feel they could make this food much better for the price. Had this food catered at my job. The "4" was meat and rice and the "7" was veggies and rice. I wanted both so I had to take 2 separate meal boxes... would have liked a meat/veg/rice option. Im commenting due to the hazardous and unsafe working environment the employees are dealing with. On 7/29 I entered the building which was hotter inside than outside. The temperature outside was 92 degrees at 830pm. Staff had the doors open and it was still stifling. Upon speaking to the staff and commenting how hot it was I was told they have had to deal with this heat for 3 months. They are paid minimum wage. That's disgusting and incredibly irresponsible to let staff work in this environment, I cannot imagine how the cook staff must feel. It is the job of employment the maintain a safe work environment. Per US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, the recommended temperature is under 76 degrees. I will absolutely be following up on this matter. By the way, the lovely lady I talk to, still did her job with a smile and positive energy, regardless of her employer not doing their job. She deserves 5 stars.
