This was a great serve your self place! The food is great for a fast service type place. As a family we had the Cubano Classico, Havana Q and Ropa Vieja. The latter had amazing seasoning and well made! That was the best item. For dessert we got a cortadito which was well made. The crema from the espresso was well made and had the right amount of milk to cut it. I would recommend this place if you want faster service but still a great product. I really haven't yet found this place to be as "really good" as others attest. I have been here two other times before, but never left a review. Lunchtime today and they didn't have any potato balls ready. "They'll be done in an hour". Really? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to order something else. The Cubano sandwich was underwhelming as it just didn't seem to have enough mustard. I even deconstructed it to see if there was any on the bread. Yup! Just not enough or something. Good thing I ordered the black beans and rice to help fill the flavor gap. I was really hoping for the potato balls to fill that gap. "Let me have a couple ham croquettes" I said. "Sorry, we don't make those anymore". Sheesh. The other sandwich that was ordered was the Ropa Vieja sandwich. The other person with me said it was really good; however that person not being from around here, ordered the Cuban Grill Brisket Sandwich and didn't know what he was really ordering as he has never eaten at a Cuban restaurant before. I was hesitant to find another place to eat after walking inside and seeing the deli counter to order, but I'm really glad we stuck with it and ate here! The food was outstanding and reasonably priced for the portions. We ordered the loaded yuca fries, which were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with flavorful Cuban pork and cheese. I got a chicken mojo empanada and it may have been the best empanada I've ever had. I cut it in half with the intention of sharing with my husband, but it was so good, I didn't share. I ordered the Cuban shredded beef bowl as my meal and it was a large portion. White rice, black beans, and the shredded pork mixture were all in the bowl as well as a sweet plantain. My friend got the shredded beef dish, but honestly, the portion size seemed similar between the two, just that the bowl had everything combined. Sure, the dish may have had more food, but it was hard to tell. Food came out fairly quickly after ordering. They also have a wine and beer bar as well as happy hour specials on drinks from 2-5pm Monday through Friday. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. The only downside is that they were out of some menu items, like steak and the potato balls, that we tried to order. Shredded brisket meat with egg scramble. This also came with beans and a few pieces of buttered toast. As usual the wait can be long as the place is typically full of customers. The ambiance is nice and homey with ample seating indoors and out. Service can be a bit slow and when I asked for a pecan sweet bread warmed, they forgot to give it to us and I had to request for it. When it arrived it wasn't warmed like we asked. Server must of been overwhelmed. I typically like the desserts here but that day my dessert seemed somewhat stale and dense. Perhaps it would've tasted better if I actually got it warmed. Overall this is our go to place when in Temecula, one less than ideal dessert will not sway us from coming back. I don't really like plantains. That's the only knock on this place. I don't like any plantains so it's not their fault at all. This place is delicious. My boss and I ate lunch here and it was amazing. Know what I do love? Empanadas. And their empanadas are fantastic! Just the right crisp on the inside, hot and delicious in the inside. I've had empanadas in MX (I know, I know...) and homemade - these are the best I've ever had. Only other issue isn't really their fault either and it's being located in Old Town. Parking is nuts and it's crowded but great overall vibe to the place, fits right in with the rest of Old Town Temecula. This is the place to go for authentic Cuban food (just delicious in general really) in the area.
