At the ANTIOCH, CA store I prepaid a large toolbox just before covid19. It took a little longer than usual. Covid19 really held things up. When it came in I was emailed and called. They said"your toolbox is in whenever you're able to come in, it's here and up front waiting for you. As I stood in line I was greeted by the manager. "SHE" had called to have someone bring it out to my car. As the associate got to my car he realized how heavy it was. The MANAGER LADY was right there and asked me to step aside. She helped get the toolbox in my suv like it was nothing, and without scratching my car. I was VERY IMPRESSED.. people who work there (not all) but some bad apples take rude to a whole another level. Let me give you an example. This one time I went there to get an outdoor table umbrella. I go to the back where I see one bold mustache older man working there so I ask him for one. He brings me clearly used opened looking one. I said excuse me sir can you get me a new one? He looks at me and says: why? What's wrong with this one? That stunned me so I'm thinking what should I say.. right then there was an older customer who was standing beside me and he turned to this worker and says: he (talking about me) wants a new one, this one is open. Now the mustache worker says let me show you and pulls the umbrella out and thank you Jesus for that random customer, and the umbrella falls apart and is missing half the stem. The mustache bold man shamelessly walks back to the warehouse to get me a new freaking umbrella and as if nothing had happened. This is a clear example of an older man being dumb and rude and thinking he has the right to treat younger men like that but God made him look like a total fool that day. Okay today I went there to get a socket a specific kind for my motorcycle. I go in and I see one guy at the register busy okay I go towards socket isle that I know approximately and I see another big fat younger worker walking towards me so I go towards him and I say excuse me brother can I ask you a question a favor? Pull my iPhone with images of the bolt on my motorcycle and I have my own caliper that I brought and I describe what I'm looking for he brushes me off says we don't have that... I go what? You don't have sockets? Then he goes ohh wasn't sure what you needed but sockets are isle so and so. What a fool... okay I go to isle of sockets but they literally have hundreds of them and I just need one least expensive so I want someone to help me because I'm slow and they work there and so I go back to the cashier and say excuse me brother can you help me when you finish? I will wait.. now the young fat worker comes back and says l will help you. I said are you sure? He said yes he was off already that's why he wasn't able to help me but he will now. You sure? Suddenly another older slimmer worker calls me from the side and says I will help you sir.. sir? That's nice, I'm happy... I follow the guy. Explain everything. I said it's faster if I get some help I leave soon win win. He and I both looking now for the socket suddenly I find something not quite but close to what I'm looking for and the worker says you see you can do this "sh!t" yourself if you want to.. hmm I said I sure can but I like to delegate when I can... he goes ohh I'm the king of delegating. I go, sometimes it's better to ask for help rather than try to figure out everything by yourself. It saves everyone's time. He agreed but he was hella rude and trashy. This place employes very nice people as well but it also employees complete jerks too. Some customers are crazy too. It's a scary place that's why I almost never go there but when I do it's 50 50 chance you'll be treated like trash. One time years ago I was driving out of their parking lot and there was an older man standing by his pickup truck. Horrible customer service!!! I drove a long distance to pick up a few of their sale items. Unlike the Elk Grove store, this site was hiding their sale items through the store. It felt like a savager hunt! After a long search to find the sale item, I was disappointed to find they were out of stock! Almost all of the items I was looking for were out of stock! Really?!? Trying to get help from the staff was an even worse experience. They would not help you find the item, but instead would tell you where you could find it. Once I got to the location, the items were out of stock. Really?!? They had no clue. Another item was listed on the email for sale under $ 10. But when you pressed the link the item it's coupon wasn't listed. So I asked to speak to the manager for help. I was told they had no manager, but there was a supervisor. While I was waiting for the supervisor, the cashier had called her. The cashier started talking shit about me while I was standing there! The supervisor was not much help either snd was extremely rude! It was such a frustrating experience, I called their head quarter and waited on the phone of 45 minutes before a customer service representative was available. I like to write good reviews but this place has yet to earn one. This is the third time I've been in and the second time they were rude so I'll find another place to come in to get tools when I need them. For starters, I walked in and asked if they could help me find anything and the two gentlemen working acted like it was an inconvenience for me to come in (and weren't wearing their masks properly!!). The tools last for many years; I kid you not. Ok, they are not the Ultra High End tools for the Professional, nor are the prices crazy high. Order was placed on 6/22/20. After repeated attempts to get a ship date, I finally cancelled this order on JULY 11th! They STILL take my money and shipped it TWO WEEKS after I cancelled it! I am now left with the inconvenience of lugging this large, heavy item to the store to return it! After all of this run around I my shopping days are done at Harbor Freight. I never dreamed I'd be a Do It Yourself addict. Yet here I am. Since moving into our new house a month ago, I've been to Harbor Freight several times. Their prices on most things are ridiculously low, cheaper than the competitors. The secret? They sell mostly store brands like Pittsburgh and Chicago Electric and pass the savings onto you. Despite the brand names, that stuff is all made overseas, usually in China (but you'll be hard pressed to find stuff NOT made in China these days). No, you won't find brands like Craftsman, DeWalt, Stanley and Bosch here. For something like a drill with moving parts, I prefer to go with well-known brands. But for hand tools, Harbor Freight is just fine, and their lifetime warranty on hand tools makes it even sweeter! Finally, despite their prices already being so low, I get tons of coupons in the mail for 25% off any one item and a free item with or without an accompanying purchase. Only one free item per customer per day, though. So far I've gotten two utility scissors, a tape measure, flashlight, screwdriver set and a tarp for free. Maybe that's the biggest reason why I've come in so many times! read more

I tried to like Harbor Freight, I think maybe they were more special when they were only located in Newark and I felt like it was an adventure to go there. The Steven's Creek location is nice, clean, organized for the most part. They have sales, and they have tools. In fact I've been in here when they have run out of some things on their advertised sales which attests to how popular this place is and what a great location it must be for them. However, I find recently that they have lost their luster for me. I'm always at Barefoot next door so I frequent this harbor freight often, usually in search of good deals on tools I might need one day (i.e. not your standard sets which I usually go with Craftsmen from Sears...) like rotator tools or some special pulleys or whatnot. In the end, the things I buy from here get used once and they break or invariably are inaccurate or don't work. And then I can't bring them back like Sears and Craftsmen and complain to get a new one. I think with tools, you really get what you pay for. I Love this Store . Great Location and the Coupon Freebies Outstanding!!

While I myself usually do not have a hankering to come to tool retailers full of men and DIY moms, I usually accompany my do-it-yourself other half as he navigates the store for cheap tool offerings. While I cannot rate based on the quality of the products, I can rate on customer service. The staff at this location are usually very friendly and not in the "I hate my job and possibly my life" mood. Well, not any that I've encountered at least. Everyone here has been super helpful and pleasant to be around. You might even say they are more help here than at Home Depot, because at Home Depot it appears impossible to reach any associates because the stores are so big. The lady who manned the register today was very nice and sent us off with a smile. This was at 7ish at night on a Saturday evening so I applaud her for smiling and giving friendly vibes. The tools at Harbor Freight are meant to be affordable and are most likely made in China, so don't come here expecting the highest quality products when you're here expecting cheap prices. The nice thing about Harbor Freight is they offer 'free' product coupons from time to time, probably on stuff you don't need but hey, good marketing push! The store sort of reeks of plastic and chemicals so don't stay in there too long or you might get high off of it! And Chromatic Coffee is right next door so you can grab an overpriced cup of hipster joe after browsing the tool selection are HF. read more

I was just on hold for 44 minutes. All I needed was a seal for a 94000 nail gun. Response was, "the only thing we have are the nails". Really. The gun is now a piece of junk. This seems to be a common issue. HFT offers a full 90 warranty, but what the heck good is that if the gun fails on day 91 and I can't get a seal to repair it. Basically I purchased a disposable POS. Last purchase at HFT. Not even close to be worth the money saved on cheap tools. I do have to say, the gun did it's job...until it didn't. I brought my 6 ft level which had lost its bubble into the Los Banos store. At first they questioned where it was really a HF tool because is was orange and labelled Centech. They had never seen one like it. Their current version in labeled Pittsburgh and is painted yellow. Three employees decided it was indeed from HF and brought me a replacement. Love Harbor Freight for the great tools at reasonable prices. Every time I walk in it so hard to leave empty handed. This location is the closest to me. Reason for 1 stars is because the employees in the store nor this store cares about COVID protection for its customers. Seeing so many customers with no mask walking around but no employee stopped them in front as they enter either. One guy even walked up to the cashier with the mask under his chin the employee didn't ask him to put it back up. The line to pay was stretch down one aisle all the way to the back of the store because of only one cashier open. The worst part about this was because the line was so long and everyone was packed into the single aisle without the minimum 6ft separation. No markings on the floor or anything in these long lines. People still continue to pack into this aisle and others still had to walk through to look for items. I had to wait till the line died down first then had to ask the person in back of me to step back while waiting. This store needs to review it's COVID plan for customer! read more

DO NOT waste your time or money. You're better off spending the extra on name brand. Bought a paint sprayer, it didn't work. It was FOR work, so instead of taking the chance on the same one a second time, we figured we'd return it (under the time frame, with receipt, in original box) and go elsewhere for a brand we are familiar with. Yeah....no. You can either put 100% of your purchase price towards an upgrade (that may or may not work), or you can pay a 20% restocking fee (what are they restocking?!) and have the remainder put back on a card. Hmmmm.......so when I return my used, malfunctioning paint sprayer- they're going to charge ME so they can restock it and sell it to YOU? Like I said, just go someplace else. read more

I went to the store in Laurel about a flyer promotion for Sawhorses and explained that I forgot my coupon and the manager there at the time said I would have to pay the full price. Huge selection of quality tools, including automotive stuff. Bright, clean store. Restrooms. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. No attitude or job hater. Coupons out the Ying Yang (in mailers, in store, and email if you sign up). INCREDIBLE return policy. Never have I seen one this generous! You can return something within 90 days as long as you have the receipt, and it doesn't have to be in its original packaging!!! I'm going to repeat this Yelp adoration with all HF's I've been to. Only thing I don't like is that there's no stores in San Francisco or the Peninsula! But there's lack of a lot of practical stores on Peninsula which is another story.
