I stopped by a couple days ago to have a key made, and was shockingly greeted by STORE CLOSING, 50% OFF, EVERYTHING MUST GO signs that were throughout the store. Wasn't able to find anything online referencing the closing, so not entirely sure what's happening. Super small and bare bones hardware store. Not that they don't have anything to choose from, but if you're looking for smaller hard to find items, then skip here and check out another Ace or a Lowe's. Staff is super friendly and always helpful when I go in looking for something. Don't expect to find big inflatables here or a large selection of holiday decorations, but good enough if you want to decorate a desk. Grill section is definitely worth checking out as they have lots of grills, tools, sauces and rubs to choose from. Spray paint, electrical splitters and light bulbs have been my main reason to visit, but I stop by every few weeks just to browse as well since it's so close to home (and Panda Express) read more

I miss Orchard Supply Hardware but this new Ace helps fill that void. Small but well organized with most of what I need and far more friendly and handy than the big box stores a few miles away. Very clean and easy to navigate with a surprisingly diverse stock for a store this size. Their customer service is generally very good--well-staffed and they know their stock. I had one issue where the store staff was clueless and unhelpful but the manager called me and insisted (insisted!) on giving me a gift card to compensate. He was clearly very interested in demonstrating and managing excellent service. read more

I really wanted to like this new store, but right now it needs serious help. If the management doesn't make some changes, I don't see how they can possibly stay open. The main good thing is that it's usually not very busy, and the staff are very helpful. Killer problems: 1. No wifi. I get zero reception in the store. I mentioned this to the staff, and they're like yeah, nobody gets reception here. It absolutely blows my mind that the management would open a store in the heart of the Silicon Valley in this condition, knowing about the problem, but declining to do anything about it. In case it isn't obvious why this matters, DIYers very often need to be able to research in the store to make sure the thing they're getting is going to work. Even pros need to be able to text their boss. And has the management here ever been to Home Depot to see what they have these days? Home Depot has an app that tells you exactly where your item is in the store, how many they have, reviews, etc. I know Ace isn't that cool, but without wifi, they're not even competitive. I can't come to this store for this reason alone. 2. It closes at 7! For a store targeting consumers in a residential neighborhood, that is absurdly early. Home Depot is open until 10 every day except Sunday. Again, in case it isn't obvious, people gotta work. Closing at 7 makes it a really narrow window for most people to get over there. The point of a store like this is convenience, which doesn't work if the store is closed. Less important, but I'll mention it: 3. Something about the design of the parking lot here frequently jams up the driveway, and it can be a bit annoying to get in to park. This seems minor, but the value proposition of this store is getting in quickly without a hassle, and this starts to cut into the only reason that even makes sense to come here. The problem for this store is it's literally a 5 minute drive from Home Depot and Lowes, both of which are better in nearly every way. The variety of stocked products is decent, but obviously much less than those other stores, which means a consumer is taking a risk just coming here. I doubt a pro would waste time trying to come here. The management needed to bring their A game to be competitive, but instead just made a C effort, at best. read more

The manager was extremely helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and took his time to try and find an alternative. He explained to me the different kinds of bolts and went above and beyond. Amazing staff. This must be the cleanest store i've ever been to. Everything is beautifully stored on shelves. The store feels very light. I don't go there feeling like I am in a panic. I am an avid plant buyer and they have a great selection of plants. When my husband and I first went there looking for paint stripper, I saw the plant section and freaked out. My new plant store for sure. The staff treat you so kindly. They are incredible. They are so kind and willing to help. They don't treat you as a transaction to get your money and have you go, they talk with you, laugh with you and are always willing to help. I am so glad that I live near this place. I was greeted at the door and was asked if I needed any help finding anything. I said what I needed and he told me. Then I asked if he could pull apart the plastic garbage can for me, he did, then he carried it up to the front for me. I told him there was so much to look at, that I was getting a cart and looking at everything. I found some nails I've been looking for for years, a good selection on hose nozzles so got one. The store has a big variety of things you need, it's clean and the people are friendly. The prices are better than Home Depot and Lows. I WILL BE BACK! read more

Grand opening! It's located on El Camino in Sunnyvale where Walgreens used to be. The store is clean and tidy. We were there for the weekend festivities and had free popcorn while shopping. We have always loved Ace because of the excellent quality. We no longer have to drive all the way to Campbell. We won the raffle prize and received a Milwaukee drill set. Thank you Ace!! I am so happy this store came to Sunnyvale. They have amazing staff and are always there to help. They are pleased to welcome you to their store and obviously happy to do their job. They are pleasant, friendly and always professional. I'm not out shopping much these days, but feel safe and confident in this store. I'm pleased to spend my dollars in our city of Sunnyvale. They can fuck all the way off. I ordered a pond pump online for same day pick-up. Get an email saying they will notify me when it's ready. Half an hour before they close, I call them and say, "Hi, I ordered a pump for pick up today, and you close in half an hour, wondering what is going on?" Hem haw from employee hear him looklng and realizing there is a pick up order "let me see if we have that hold please" so I hold. Comes back, tells still looking, and to hold again. Comes back again and tells me they dont actually have it in stock. I ask for him to please refund my money, he says no problem, it's taken care of. Did he actually issue my refund? No, he did not. Let's be honest, guys. Never have I ever gone into any Ace Hardware store that is actually busy. I can't recall a time I have gone into that store and there being more than 5 customers max in that store. Yet to busy to check online orders. Just take money with no follow-through. After a super frustrating experience at a 'big box' store I stopped in to see this new store that I have driven by on multiple occasions. Staff are friendly and attentive. Good value and wonderful selection on the items I was looking for. The store is super clean. Plenty of parking. They also had a great selection of gift ideas for graduation/Fathers Day! Very friendly and helpful staff. The store is well organized and clean. Stocked with very commonly useful hardware items. Tried to redeem a 20% coupon that was supposed to be only good at the Homestead store, but the clerk was happy to give me the discount anyway. Glad to have the store close by within walking distance without having to drive to other big box hardware stores. read more
