Excellent service Very friendly people Carl and barb are awesome!!!! I will come here for future hardware needs when I'm in the area read more

Just went into Olander for the first time and couldn't recommend this place more. Staff is super friendly and helpful and had what I needed.

Our local Home Depot suggested Olander when they couldn't help me. I was unable to see that the screw had actually broken off inside the door handle. Karl loaned me tools to fix it and I paid nothing. Works great. read more

I have been a customer since the early 2000s and can say that no distributor compares. If you need it, they have it; In the rare event they don't (which has been very uncommon in my experience), they can get it quickly. All the products are of the highest quality: no tool on the wall or fastener on the shelf is anything short of top notch and they have been my exclusive fastener provider for over 20 years. No matter the demand, they meet and exceed quality control standards across the board: a true testament, especially in the semiconductor field. The staff is very knowledgeable and actively works to find the most effective solutions to whatever hardware challenges you present. Karl, Barbara, Dat, and Paul have all been extremely helpful and personable over the years and make every visit a treat. With Olander, you get the mom and pop shop treatment and attention while maintaining the big store selection; That is hard to come by these days. Aside from great staff and quality products, pricing is always competitive (especially compared to those McDonald's guys...sheesh...). On more than one occasion, upon explaining my project demands, they have offered a more cost effective alternative that not only facilitated fabrication, but brought the bottom line down. They very well could have kept spitting out the invoices for things I didn't really need, but they took the time and effort to ensure that what I was getting was what I ACTUALLY needed. That commitment to a customer's success is just one more thing that makes Olander one of the premier distributors in the Bay Area, and I look forward to many more years of working with these fine folks. read more

Karl & Barbara provide the best customer service and Olander always has inventory of the fasteners I need. Please stop by and check them out if you are in the heart of Silicon Valley (Sunnyvale CA)! read more

While Olander is not your typical retail outlet, when I needed a specific, relatively rare part, Olander provided exactly what I needed at the best price, along with great, responsive customer service. I wish I'd known of them before, but certainly won't forget them now. read more

Found out about this place on Yelp. How have I never heard of Olander after all these years. Dat and Carl were very friendly and helpful. I was looking for screws that weren't available anywhere else I had looked locally. They were able to get me sorted immediately. Thanks again to both Dat and Carl. I'll definitely be back and recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Barbara took excellent care of me helping me find a hard to find screw. Great customer service. Left with more impulse items.

I just wanted to convey how wonderful and friendly the staff was and in particular Carl. He graciously analyzed my wife's trekking pole, realized the screw was not available and came up with a solution that allowed it work just fine. And he did it all for free with a charming smile to boot. Thanks a lot Carl. The shop also has an amazing selection of screwdrivers, spanners and obviously every imaginable screw in the world. Thank you - really enjoyed my experience at your store. read more

Olander is my go-to source for hardware that I use in all my products. It's almost always in stock, short lead times if they have to order it, and live the price. The sales and counter folks in Will-call are great. read more

Dat and Carl are fantastic. I went there to figure out a challenging doorknob installation. They were super helpful and patient and knowledgeable. They will be my first stop anytime my place needs anything. read more

Excellent service started when Dat came out to the parking lot to get me because doors were open early. While Dat search inventory for my selection Karl was there with his dog to share a few family stories. Dat found my bolts got them and had me on my way in a few minutes. Great service, the products you cannot find elsewhere, and friendly service even if you don't know what you need for a good price and great value. Thanks Dat and Karl read more

Excellent customer service and very organized staff. Complementary coffee / water / tea for any short wait times. If you need any size or head type for a screw / bolt, they have it, rest assured. If you need hand tools, they have great deals on a variety of brand offerings. Best prices in the area, I will continue giving them my business for the foreseeable future. read more

The counter staff knows their stuff and are very helpful. Their pricing and hardware selection are the best around.

I went to this business, because I need similar screws than I had, just a little shorter. The staff was extremely helpful and were able to identify my screws. While they didn't have any shorter screws in stock (they're extremely hard to find, even on the Internet), they suggested a possible workaround, which worked out well, using some washers. For the tiny amount that I spent on those washers, I feel that I got much, much more than my money's worth in information and suggestions. And all the time the staff was super-friendly, extremely helpful and just a pleasure to interact with. I can highly recommend this business and will certainly go there first for any material for a bigger project. read more

I went to Olander to buy fasteners for the first time the other day. It was one of the best stores I've ever visited. They are super friendly and helpful. Karl, who helped me went way out of his way to make sure I got exactly what I needed. He was patient and knowledgeable. I just can't say enough about what a good experience it was. They have all the things I needed that are impossible to find anywhere else I've looked in Silicon Valley. The prices are very reasonable and they are happy to sell small quantities of anything you don't need a whole box of. Go there next time you need fasteners--you'll be glad you did. read more

Fantastic place. They got everything you need. Staffs are great too. Would recommend if you are looking for specific fasteners!

Olander saved me again! I needed an odd screw and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Olander is definitely a go to place for me.

Olander is an awesome place that solves problems with any mechanical projects that needs specific fasteners!

I have the worst luck buying stuff on eBay sent from China. Nearly everything I've bought has arrived broken or breaks with minimal use. I haven't seemed to learn my lesson, though. Take the case of a bicycle bell that I wanted: the first one arrived cracked, the second one from another seller never came, and the third from yet another seller had a screw that wouldn't screw in. "Screw" you, crappy eBay sellers. Enter Olander Company. Reading the reviews here, I thought if anybody can help me find the right screw (and not make me buy a box of 100), it's Olander. The building was easy to find and parking was ample, but it should be noted that the service area is through an unassuming red door on the side of the building. I wasn't sure, so I first walked through the large door at the front of the building facing the street, and found myself in a sea of office computers (the sales office). A lady kindly told me where to go. The service area is not your typical hardware store. Everything is done over the counter with a service rep. There's some merchandise on display behind the counter, and a large warehouse where more hardware is kept. Both are off limits to customers. Olander seems to specialize in processing large orders, hence the sales office. A nice gal named Annie took a look at my dysfunctional bicycle bell and measured the size of the screw that came with it. I thought I might need a narrower screw, so she went in the back and tried different ones, but they were too loose. Then she noticed that my screw's threading was just barely warped at the end, hard to see but just enough to be problematic. She came back with the same sized screw with a hex head. It screwed in perfectly! She said I could have it at no charge, which was nice since I didn't have cash and there's a $5 minimum for credit card transactions here. But just for good measure, Annie went back into the warehouse and fetched a similar screw with a Phillips head, and let me compare them and decide which one I wanted. I was really impressed at how beyond helpful she was for a cheap part that she didn't even charge me for. Thanks to the great service here, I know I'll come back whether I need just one screw or more parts for a larger job. read more

See all

These guys are experts when it comes to fasteners. I came in looking for a hard to find machine screw. I went to the usual suspect big box stores but they didnt carry what I needed. 5 minutes in Olander and they got what I needed. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly bunch there. read more

Service was excellent. Found a new place to source hardware for my team. Found bolts locally that I was not able to find elsewhere.

What a great place. Needed a 'weird' nut/bolt combo and was really concerned that I wasn't going to be able to complete a project....when I was referred to the Olander Company. Not only did they have what I was in need of, they had so much more. There is a min order - I forget what it was, the min was super reasonable. I think I ended up procuring a handful extras, and glad I did (what a weight lifted off my head.) read more

Needed last minute assistance to repair my boat to meet a customer commitment with a family fishing charter. John went out of his way to find what I needed, provided instructions for installation and arranged an after hour pick up to help me out. A rare and refreshing experience with a great company. Olander came highly recommended by a friend who owns a business manufacturing aircraft parts who uses Olander frequently. read more

Normally I loved doing business with them. Until the one time they got our order wrong. We returned the parts and got the correct ones. Then they charge us a restocking fee, and it's like I'm pretty sure we had placed the order correctly, and even if we hadn't, we gave them right back to you. And we order from you pretty consistently. Why do we need to pay this restocking fee. They essentially wouldn't budge, so they lost a customer today. read more

I was referred here by home depot. The store was well equiped with neat tools, "specialty" fasteners, and kept clean. The young man working there was sedulous and kind. An older man that appeared to have fallen on tough times mentioned how he was spending money he didnt have to make a xmas tree with wires, etc for his grand daughters that they would love. At checkout he took the old mans card gave it back to him and used his own. Didnt mention it to the man and wished him a Merry christmas. He was very helpful and spent a decent chunk of time with myself going through numerous boxes in order to find a screw with long enough threading for my fryer. I highly recommend this place. read more

Really poor service. The service folks have bad attitudes and only excel at "rolling their eyes". If you can wait a day go to McMaster. The only reason for the 2 stars is their selection is good if you can stomach the poor demeanor of the clowns behind the counter. read more

The attention you receive at Olander is second to none. I have come in with all sorts of contraptions that were missing screws, and the guy's behind the counter figured out what would work. Even if you just need to buy one screw, they take all the time necessary to find it for you. They have one of those machines where you take a number and wait for it to be called for your turn for assistance, but I have never seen it in use. I guess I've been lucky and it's never been that crowded where they needed to use it. The entrance is a small door on the right side of their building. Also this is where the parking lot is located. Plenty of parking. They recently celebrated 50 years in business, and have special commemorative shirts for sale. read more

Try finding a end cap bolt M8 1.25x75 mm anywhere in the South Bay and you will realize why this place get 5*. I needed the said bolt for my motorcycle and I went to at least 5 other shops before someone recommended Olander. Walked up to the counter, the young man there double checked what I wanted, went to the back room and appeared with the bolt. I was in and out in 5 minutes with exactly what I needed. They know their stuff. read more

Zoolander? Sorry, folks. Ben Stiller is nowhere to be found. It's OH-LANDER. Yeah, the service here is so-so sometimes. It just depends on what time you go in, there's usually only two dudes working the counter, so if the place is busy, you'll be waiting for awhile. Like the other reviewers have already noted, this is THE PLACE to get that hard to find metric screw or torx head fastener that nobody else seems to have. They have a nice selection of tools to drool over too as you're waiting for Mr. Slow Pants to ring up your order. read more

need screws, nuts, bolts, standoffs, randoms fasteners on the same day? go here and they usually have it ! I have been going here for about 8 years and service is sometimes awesome, and sometimes crap, but every time I get what I need and thats the most important thing. Their prices are usually better that McMaster (which is awesome) so def give them a try. read more

Great service & selection for most all hardware needs. However, when I need special metric size fasteners I always end up going to a different supplier. read more

Very helpful and completely stocked! I had been hunting for a particular Allen socket head metric crew and finally went into Olander. they were great. they made measurements, and in a matter of moments came out of the back room with exactly the size hardware I was looking for. so, great service and if you have any odd sized fasteners, this place is the place to go. read more

I needed some saddle height adjustment set screws, for a Mustang guitar bridge that were a shorter length but did not know the size. Von went above and beyond and figured out the size set screw and was very meticulous. He was very friendly and helpful with his approach and also solved an issue I was having with the set screws not threading smoothly. If I have any future needs from The Olander Company I would definitely go back to Von for help! read more

The party's over. While my first experience here was stellar, my latest was abysmal. They now have a $5 line item minimum, and $10 purchase total minimum. That means for the three odd torx screws I needed to finish a restoration project, I'd have to cough up $15. No thanks, not doing it. Of course, they're completely free to charge prices like this, but it means I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have been at this business twice already, and on both occasions, there were two sales staff/ front counter people were downright RUDE. The first guy, Eddie, whom helped me on my first trip, was very crabby, grumpy, and seemed unwilling to help. Not the kind of person that would go the extra mile and help you out with a smile. My second trip, it happened again, this time by a guy that went by the name Kai. I showed him a list of what I needed, and very rudely he responded, "No, don't have that one, no no no". When it was time to pay for what I ordered, again, this guy told me rudely to "Go over here", referring to the end of the counter where the credit card reader was located, at the far end of the counter. I gave him my credit card and when he gave it back, he just threw it down in front of me. First of all, I'm a nice guy and in belief, if you treat people nicely, you should be treated in the same utmost respect, especially in customer service. That's what brings your customers back. To those two guys, I say this: Man, if you don't like to help people, then why in the hell are you in that job in the first place. Enough said, if anyone that reads this review doesn't believe me, then just stop by in there one day and you'll see what I "MEAN". Ya, literally speaking, I'm not doing business with those High School dropouts anymore. If you happen to be the Manager of this place, then I suggest you take time to evaluate those guys, because if I were you, I would have fired them long ago. The only thing good about this place is their inventory and they have what you need- the bad thing is getting these goons to go to the back and retrieve it for you. I can train a dog to do that and still the dog would be courteous back to me. The ironic thing is that on the bottom of their sales receipt, it says, "Have a nice day"- go figure read more

Great experience. They a hard to find item in stock that I need right away. I dropped in and I was helped immediately. Would recommend checking in with them if you are in need of hard to find items. read more

Really, really bad service. Got bad attitudes from guys behind the counter; the manager even sounded like he wasn't interested in my business. Schmuck. Good selection of hardware, but nothing I can't get from Fastenal or other shops. The only reason I tried Olander is that my boss liked them and that their location is convenient to ours. Now, I'll gladly wait a day or go farther out of my way, and my company will too. read more

I've been an Olander customer since 1980. They are often not the cheapest alternative but they have most things Now and can offer a lot of technical help. Tony, one of their long-time salespeople, is incredibly knowledgeable and fun to work with as well. Their quality is exceptional. I do miss the somewhat looser and much more flexible Olander of Old (a LOT more stock and choices as well as more flexibility in getting an engineering sample), but I guess everyone has to turn more corporate eventually. Hopefully they can keep their sales staff happy because they are Gold. read more

This place is the best. I have had to come here many a times for bolts for my car and screws for computer stuff. If you need it they pretty much have it when it comes to screws and bolts. They can even cut it to size if the bolt is just a little too long. This place has never failed me yet and I also show up with the oddest sizes of bolts. This place is a little hard to find. It can get a bit slow inside but if you need it you will get it here. read more
