First time visiting Happy Fish while on vacay in Maui and WOW, this place is awesome -- especially for a late night bite!! We unfortunately left it to 8:30pm to find a dinner place (had a full day) and many places were closing soon. I came upon Happy Fish during my research and looked at the menu, everything sounded good. Upon arrival it was ~9pm and they close at 11pm, so still have a few hours. It was actually kinda busy for 9pm. Folks at the bar and a few tables. It was seat yourself though so we grabbed a spot and our waiter came within a couple minutes to greet us and bring waters. I already knew what I wanted: TROPICAL MAHI RICE BOWL: mahi filet over a bed of rice with slaw, mango salsa, poblano sauce, sour cream, cilantro & lime. The mahi was grilled and delicious!! I asked for a side of hot sauce and that completed the dish. Absolute !! The service was really great, I enjoyed Michael and his conversation. He was so interesting and definitely made the experience 5 for us. The other thing I really appreciated about Happy Fish is that they didn't bust your wallet. The prices were competitive and because of that, I'll definitely be back. I saw they have a happy hour menu too 9-11pm, I'm going to try that before I leave along with black light bingo Wednesday nights!! More fun to come and I'll def be telling all my friends and family who come to Maui to hit up Happy Fish. Amazing service, bomb food, great prices, and awesome vibe. Can't ask for anything more!!

Great food and service, gets busy with locals vs tourists. Clean restrooms and outdoor seating.

This is a great place off the beaten path for drinks and game watching. Tip order at the bar for the best service. There's more TVs than servers so you'll always be able to watch football!

The name of this place sounded like a poke spot to me but it's really not and fish is actually featured in less than half of the menu. Lots of nice versions of bar favorites. Come during one of their two happy hours (I think it was 9-12 and 5-11pm) It's a nice spot with a breezy and private covered outdoor patio adjacent to a dining area and bar that opens to outside. It's in a strip mall but this spot is really nice. It feels neighborhoody, other groups were clearly a broad range of local residents. This would be a nice place to hang and chill after work, plus they're open til midnight. Non happy hour drinks were fairly priced. Food was good. My fish tacos with mahi were excellent, served with a great pickly slaw. Fish and chips were crisp and piping hot with a decent tartar. The fries were excellent! Come here for a good mix of residents and tourists eating fairly priced dependable meals. Check out my photos for more info. Good spot!

Best server even tho she was slammed made it fun. Best Mai Tai. Cutest bathroom. Yummy shrimp tacos and garlic fries. Bomb happy hour.

Game Day Taco bag special

Pretty good spot to watch some football and grab a couple drinks. Wouldn't recommend the food though. They have a number of tvs and had all the games playing with audio for the featured game. Theres some patio seating too with visibility to the tvs. Buffalo cheese chicken sliders were decent. Toasted, with light blue cheese. The poke bowl was dry, and they don't have any good sauces for it, so that was disappointing. The loaded tail gate taco bag, which is a game day special was awful. Says it comes with waygu beef but it was really just a few dry ground beef crumbs and a few other toppings in a smalll fritos bag. Can't believe they charge $15 for it. The spicy margarita and espresso martini were delicious, and they have a good draft beer selection. The espresso tasted fresh. The service was a little slow but our server did check in occasionally for a water refill.

I really enjoyed this spot. The hotel we stayed at didn't offer the best food. So glad we found this spot. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. The waitress was helpful and kind. The restaurant was clean and very nice. TVs everywhere. Would definitely go again.

Stopped here on our way back from Lahaina based on a recommendation from a local. The food and drinks were priced very well compared to other restaurants and the fish tacos were amazing! Calamari was just okay but don't sleep on the tacos, they had Wahoo (ono) and Mahi available, we both went with the Wahoo.

We spent our last night in Maui and had the best meal of the week. We ate at a couple of the big and popular trendy restaurants and we were not impressed by the ok & over priced food. We were happy to find a smaller local place with great servers (Claire) and delicious food and prices that you would find back home. My SMASH burger was so good, and my husband loved his fish tacos (0no). Very nice ambiance in the restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a great choice to end our vacation with "Happy Fish". No parking fees either!

Happy Fish Football Crowd

Happy Fish! Happy Customer! The shrimp tacos were amazing! The staff navigated around my gluten allergy and changed a shrimp bowl to a couple of oversized and most tasty shrimp tacos. Excellent! This was during the Indiana vs Miami NCAA National football championship game...and staff was running the entire time with this festive and Indiana -supporting crowd! Top level of staff and customer service!

Amazing food and service!! Best steak tacos on the island and the mango salsa and fresh chips are some the best I've ever had. Can't believe I've been coming to Maui for so many years. I've never found this place. If you love tacos, it's a must stop.

This is such a cute bar and restaurant! It says sports bar, and while it does have tons of TVs, I would say it's actually a really cute restaurant that would be great with friends or for date night. Do not skip on the Shaka shrimp appetizer!! It is the best thing on the menu - we almost ordered it twice! The fish tacos and smash burger were also phenomenal. Cocktails were delicious (try the POG foam!! OMG it's delish) They have a great happy hour on food and drinks. Staff was super friendly and awesome! We will be back!

Best Mai Tai on Maui!
Mike H.

Just got home from Maui where we found an amazing new restaurant in the Kaanapali Fairway Shops: Happy Fish. This place is a cozy sports bar that offers so much more than you'd expect. An excellent menu with high quality hospitality (our server Cooper was the best, all three visits). A killer Happy Hour menu, try the Shaka Shrimp or the grilled chicken sliders, and the best Mai Tai in Lahaina for just $11.

It was our last night on the resort, so we didn't feel like making the trek out anywhere, so we ordered from here to take back to our room. Got the burger, nachos and a hot dog for the kiddo. My husband saw the nachos as we were walking by the pool earlier and wanted to try, and boy oh boy--these were surprisingly good! I just wished they had more jalapenos but that's my bad for not asking! The burger was also pretty good, juicy meat with all the fixings--again, only wished they gave us fries instead of chips. My kid loved his hot dog (it was all beef!), and his came with some tasty fries. Solid place for some good bar type food and in a pinch!

The food was mediocre at best. Banzai fries looked thrown together in 2 mins and tasted terrible. The chips and salsa were decent, the salsa was blended up tomatoes. The wings were pretty good, the sauce ones not the dry rub. The coconut shrimp was their best meal, perfectly crispy and the sauce was so tasty. Chicken tenders looked like 1-2 day old, my 4yo liked them. The drinks are overpriced for what you get. $20 for a margarita that is 85% ice & 15% drink. My advice is buy your own drinks and take a small cooler and bring your own snacks. Save yourself $200.

I started off with a drink IN A CERAMIC PIG. Like, what could be better?? Hubs and I shared a fantastic nacho plate for our lunch, then asked about a dessert menu. I told her I was still working on it and she put it down and walked away. We asked to order ice cream. Waited about 20-30 mins and she never came back to bring the dessert. Finally we asked her again and she brought it out. We asked for the bill when the ice cream finally came out and again we waited probably another 10 mins before she brought the check. When we were ready to pay, she scanned our card and waited while we selected tip. We said we would pay tip in cash. This rude waitress stood by us waiting for us to hand her the cash tip. WHO DOES THAT!!! This lady was so rude and I would highly recommend finding another place to eat because there are so many better options. Whoever runs this place should really invest in customer service training for their employees...

We didn't have reservations and upon arriving at the host stand, the female hostess was snobby and did not want to help us and instead, the male host sat us down at a communal table with ottermans for seats. We didn't feel like crouching down to eat so I went back to ask if we could sit at the bar. We moved to the bar and ordered from the bartender; I got the lobster roll and my husband ordered the poke nachos. We realized there was a musician playing and wanted to move closer to the music. So I decided to go back to the host stand and ask if we could get on the list for a table close to the musician. The female host proceeded to snob me WHILE she drinks from her hydroflask. The male host stated to me that since we ordered our food already, we are not allowed to sit on a table since those tables have servers too. He also had an attitude. I asked very nicely and felt that they thought I was interrupting their deep conversations. The male host reluctantly stated that the tables open up after 9:30pm. Management really needs to school these two on how to talk to guests with more respect. This was on 11/14/25, approx. 8pm. As local kama'aina, we expected more but those two failed miserably. After we finished eating our food, we closed out our tab and moved by the musician. Needless to say, we were nicely greeted by a waitress who asked if she can get us anything. This place could be so much more but our experience with the front of the house was enough for us to not return during our trip. On the flip side, the lobster roll was really good whereas the poke nachos was okay. There's so much more dining options within the Westin's vicinity with great service AND food, like Leilani's Beach Bar (at Leilani's on The Beach) so we would not recommend this place BUT if you want a good lobster roll, this is the place to have it.

I found this place on line and when we drove over to it from our resort on Kaanapali, my husband pitched a fit because it was in a strip mall and he thought it was going to be terrible. We walked in and it was nicer than I thought it would be. He still wasn't convinced. We went back to the resort and went to one of the hotel restaurants on the beach, his idea of where we should be on our last night - despite the fact that we'd already had oceanfront dining at two other places and were ready to try something different. The rest of us didn't want to be there. My daughter got dress-coded for having a bathing suit top on at the beach (literally oceanfront, outdoors, and part of our resort). I get it, but it just added to the mood. The water they gave us tasted like it came out of a hose. The prices were dumb. We left. Everyone was mad at dad. And hangry. After going back to our room and looking at our options, we decided to go back to the first place (Sergio's) and just get takeout. I ordered a bunch of stuff, we picked it up and brought it back to our room. Everyone - even my husband - agreed the food was amazing and probably the best meal we'd had all week. Bonus that it didn't break the bank. Looking back in my camera roll, I actually did not take photos. Probably because I was mad. You should still go. The reason for my extremely late review is today I was talking to someone about to travel to that area and I told her she might want to look it up. They deserve the rave review.

The chicken was very tender and flavorful and I liked the good amount of pico de gallo on there. Honestly wish I had tried a salad they sounded very scrumptious. The people I was with ordered the pork tacos and the kids taco plate, both looked good and were pretty standard. Service was pretty nice and attentive, ambiance was decent. All in all, wouldn't go out of my way to come back, wouldn't be opposed to it. :)
