I started off with a drink IN A CERAMIC PIG. Like, what could be better?? Hubs and I shared a fantastic nacho plate for our lunch, then asked about a dessert menu. Our server said there was only one option, but it was great. She did not exaggerate. It was a sweet Hawaiian bread, fried, with some more sweetness (glaze?) and nuts. So. Good. The blonde waitress was the rudest person ive experience in a long time. Never going to this place again. Made a reservation for 6. Hostess took us to a table that seats 4. I told her we need more chairs so she said it would be a bit longer which was fine. Ordered two mahi mahi entrees and a kids burger. Food was ok. Kids burger was dry with no sauce provided other than hot sauce. The fish was ok. I was helping feed my son and the waitress comes by and tries to take my plate away. I told her I was still working on it and she put it down and walked away. We asked to order ice cream. Waited about 20-30 mins and she never came back to bring the dessert. Finally we asked her again and she brought it out. We asked for the bill when the ice cream finally came out and again we waited probably another 10 mins before she brought the check. When we were ready to pay, she scanned our card and waited while we selected tip. We said we would pay tip in cash. This rude waitress stood by us waiting for us to hand her the cash tip. WHO DOES THAT!!! This lady was so rude and I would highly recommend finding another place to eat because there are so many better options. Fantastic location with a view of the beach. This Mexican fusion spot has indoor and outdoor seating, I recommend making reservations so you get a good table with a view. My daughter and I sat outside on the patio right around sunset time so we had beautiful lighting, the ambiance couldn't be better. Daughter ordered the fish tacos - three smallish fish tacos on soft tortillas came out with a side of chips and salsa. Unfortunately it wasn't very filling and for $26.75 you wouldn't think you would be hungry afterwards but unfortunately that was the case. I wasn't terribly hungry and got the ceviche stack for $19.75. Definitely more of an appetizer, but it hit the spot - very fresh ingredients. Our hipster server had somewhat of a cocky attitude. I asked if one of their fish dishes was fresh or frozen, and he responded like "duh of course it's fresh." Coco Deck also has a secret menu, when I asked him what that a was about, his response was "well it's a secret menu." Gee thanks! That is so helpful, dude, I don't need your condescending attitude. As far as food on our trip, this honestly might be one of my favorite spots we've been to yet. Walked in with no reservation on a Saturday evening and the two ladies working the front were super lovely and got us seated quickly. The nachos and chips and dip are stellar, incredible queso and guac and the seasoning on the chips brought it up a notch. My only critique would be that for the price of the chips and dip you would think it would be a larger portion! Or at least the chips would be refillable. But alas no. I ordered the southwestern salad with birria for my main. I thought the flavor combo was excellent. Perfect even amount of everything and the meat was flavorful and juicy. Only critiques I have is that it was a bit too salty and again for the price the portion could have been larger. Someone I dined with ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and was a bite disappointed. I tried a bit and found it to be dissatisfyingly unspicy and a the chicken wasn't the greatest. Our service was pretty splendid. Friendly, attentive, and helpful. As far as atmosphere goes, it's decent. I personally don't love going out to eat with a bunch of TVs blaring in my face so maybe take that into consideration. I have to edit this review and add a star because after being to other places in the area and trying Mai Tai's, I have to say Cocos has the best ones by far. The food was ok but the service was great! We weren't impressed with the fish tacos or the poke donut because the fish was weirdly shaped like it was manufactured. It was our first time trying Coco Deck. It was very good. I was wavering between a four and a five. The appetizer we had was the poke Donut. We also had the Brussels sprout Caesar salad and the big bowl with Mahi. The kids had the chicken fingers and burger. I would say it was all very good but didn't quite make it to the amazing level. They have homemade hot sauces that they bring to the table, which are mild, medium, and hot, but be careful, even the mild is quite spicy. We had a Mai Tai cocktail, which was good but very heavy on the pineapple flavor. All in all, it was a very good meal, and I would come back and try more of their menu. read more

This place was so good! The food was different and delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so friendly and helpful with the menu. They totally steered us in the right directions. And...the bartenders were unknowingly neighbors! Def get the coco crusted mahi. I haven't had a cooked fish dish this good in I can't even remember how long. It was so comforting and tasty. I also loved the carnitas big deck bowl. Lots of different components but they were all good separately and all were good together. For apps, the chicken nachos hit the spot. So glad we ordered this. Coco Deck delivered a fantastic lunch experience. Sitting across from the ocean with all the windows open made for a refreshing and relaxed setting. Service was great, and the food was clearly prepared with care. We ordered the mahi fish and chips and the Big Deck Bowl. The bowl included sweet potatoes, house slaw, cauliflower, mushrooms, coconut rice, pickled red onions, chimichurri, and added pulled pork -- colorful, balanced, and full of flavor. The fish and chips featured beer-battered mahi, artichokes, pickled malt mayo, and fries; the artichokes added a nice touch of freshness to the plate, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully executed. With Lahaina still in the early stages of recovery, it's encouraging to see restaurants like this bringing energy back to the area. Had an excellent meal on December 22nd. Michelle was our server. Amazing person, amazing service. She was attentive and kind, without being a helicopter! She guided us expertly through the menu as we are vegans. She did not give us any side eye, but just made sure we were getting things right! We loved the experience. Our group headed to Coco Deck for our last dinner in Maui before we flew home. We had this locally owned restaurant on our list of places we wanted to try and are glad we made it. When we arrived parking was a problem, it appeared there was only a small lot next to the restaurant. We ended up parking at the Safeway just down the street, I don't know if that's typical, it was just what we happened to do. Finally inside and we were ready to eat. I had looked at the menu beforehand and decided to try their Fish & Chips. The table decided a couple of appetizers were in order first, Chips & Dip and a Poke Donut. I had a piece of the donut, didn't really know what I was eating but I liked it. As for the chips & dip, the chips were warm and the generous amount of queso we added to the order was delicious. We went through the chips and asked if we could have more and learned we could for 2.50. Hmmm, I'm used to Mexican restaurants at home giving chips away, but I'm not at home. The Fish & Chips was different than traditional, I liked it. Instead of a couple of battered fillets of Cod or Halibut it was one big thick piece of battered Mahi Mahi. It was firm, a bit dry, and substantial. The chips were great. Called funky chips on the menu, instead of thick cut fries it was a mix of 4 different types of fries, thin, waffle, curly, and sweet potato. Different and clever. I was drinking a Diet Coke and asked for a refill. Because of the surprise with the appetizer chips I asked if the refill was free and learned it wasn't. Back home I can assume fountain drinks are free refills unless stated otherwise on the menu, but I'm not at home. Still, at 6.25 plus tip (7.50) for a Diet Coke, charging a dollar for a refill seemed petty. We had a nice evening. Service was fine, I don't recall any problems, food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and although I didn't pay for the meal, that appeared to go well. I imagined the view had it not been dark when we arrived, and smiled. I will miss the beauty of Maui. read more

Finally got a chance to try Coco Deck. I saw this place last time I was in Maui. It is located in great location near Honu and Mala Tavern. Parking can generally be had at Lahaina Cannery nearby. Restaurant parking is almost non existent. The place is on the larger side for this area so plenty of seating for 2 people or 8. There is a deck that wraps around the property so you can see the ocean across the street. A lot of restaurants in this area are moving more upscale so it's nice to have a place like CD with good eats and good pricing. This food is definitely a slice of different for this area. I would describe it at Mexican and Hawaiian fusion. For example they have a dish called Birria Ramen. I was tempted but wasn't craving soup. Overall, I was mostly impressed by what I had: Crispy Garlic Shrimp: I tried the shrimp by itself. I tried it dipped in the garlic butter. I tried it with the cabbage and sauce. The latter yielded the best bite. Poke Doughnut: What??? I've never had anything like this before. The crispy dough exterior and the poke made for a nice bite. I would preferred maybe a dipping sauce on the side on the side or drizzed on top. But I really I liked this one the best. Oyster Shooters: This one was not to my liking. I mean it looked cool and inviting to eat. I tried shooting the whole thing at once and it was overwhelming. Lol. I mean that is a large shot with lots of liquid and the oyster was on the bigger side. The dish was very tangy and sour. I get what the chef was trying to do here. But I found it too sour. The tanjin rim elevates the sour tang as well. I would of preferred some sweetness to counter the sourness of liquid. Or maybe tone it down some. If you like tangy sour flavor profile this is your jam. The drinks were fine. My Ube lemonade was pretty good once I mixed the cream into the drink. It smoothed out the tartness of the lemonade and brought out the Ube flavor. The watermelon agua Fresca was very good. From hostess to waiter everyone was friendly. Our server Slater was very good. Explained the dishes and answered our questions about the food choices. I think that is key at this place due to the uniqueness of the food served here. He did a good job overall. From the moment we entered this restaurant and was graciously greeted by Rob, restaurant manager, who later followed up by coming to the bar asking if "it was as good, or better than expected?" By then, our bartender, Zig had nicely poured a Cadillac Margarita for the Great Gal and their version of Mule on the Beach for me, followed by a Mai Tai shooter,.... as we were dining on a very satisfying ceviche and berria taco, I was able to answer Rob with the response, "even better than that." I came here two nights in a row. That should already tell you everything you need to know. The first night, I ordered the Big Deck Bowl with mahi. The second night, I came back and ordered it again, this time with chicken. Either way, it was outstanding. This thing is a meal-sized masterpiece: hearty, healthy, and bursting with flavor. We're talking complex carbs like sweet potatoes, veggies that actually taste like they were seasoned on purpose, and funghi friends like mushrooms and their house slaw. Add in fragrant coconut rice, a pop of pickled red onions, and chimichurri sauce tying it all together, it's basically a flavor luau in a bowl. It's vibrant, it's delicious, and the portion size is no joke. This isn't one of those dainty "health bowls" where you leave hungrier than when you started. This is a full, satisfying, grown-up meal that doesn't require a snack run afterward. Now, because I like to explore the menu (and test my stomach's limits), the first night I also ordered the birria queso tacos and the fish tacos. Don't get me wrong, they were fine, but compared to the Big Deck Bowl, they didn't wow me. The presentation felt a little meh, and the portions a little light. It's not that they were bad, it's just that the bowl is clearly the Beyoncé here, and the tacos are more like the backup dancers. The space itself has a fun twist of déjà vu. This used to be Duckine, but Cocodeck has transformed it into something brighter, fresher, and more island-cool. Great atmosphere, casual but still polished, with that kind of "hang out and stay a while" vibe. Overall, Cocodeck won me over fast. When you come somewhere twice in two days, you know it's the real deal. If you go, do yourself a favor: skip the backup dancers and order the Big Deck Bowl. Your taste buds will thank you. Bottom line: I came, I ate, I came back, I ate again. And I'd probably do it a third night if I wasn't trying to pretend I have self-control. read more

We really enjoyed this spot, and felt similar to their sister restaurant, Má-la, across the street. It's really good, nice atmosphere and great, friendly service. Got a couple of cocktails, the Coco Bro which is a take on an old Fashioned, and an Alba Cadabra which was a gin-based concoction from their 'Secret Menu.' Both were good, and deceptively spirit driven. I didn't taste the alcohol, but felt it a bit afterward. Food was very good. I got an Oyster Shooter from secret menu, and aguachile was tasty. We HAD to try the Poke Donut which was an overly ambitious offering that just didn't match expectations. It was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. Entrées were a Sweet Potato Tacos with pork and my wife loved it. And I got the Macadamia Crusted Mahi and a side of Coconut Rice. It was a very tasty dish, but it desperately needed the rice because of the watery sauce. With the rice, I very much enjoyed it. I overheard who I am guessing is the owner of the place, chatting at another table about wine, and it sounded like he was extremely adept, so I am thinking it's a good wine list (didn't peruse), and they have local and mainland beers, as well as a few others. Let me tell you about one of my favorite places for happy hour....it was such a great experience we went back the very next day! We tried the southwestern salad, the fish tacos, the queso tacos, the smash burger (made specially by the chef known fondly as the "Kitchen Assassin"). Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, and overall really remarkable. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the service overall was very quick. The location itself is ideal. It sits right across a small road from the ocean, has a variety of TVs for my fellow sports fans, and even has a keiki corner for the littles equipped with a pool table, basketball and a variety of other things to keep everyone in the family occupied. Honestly, it's very open and inviting overall. Most confident 5 stars I've given in a while. If you go, it's worth making a reservation! Enjoy! We stopped by for lunch, after seeing online that they served Birria Ramen here. We found out that they only serve the Ramen after 2p for dinner. So I ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos with Pineapple Cole Slaw and my wife had the Double Smash burger. The food came out quickly and the Tacos were ample and the Pineapple slaw was exceptional. Located right off of Front Street, Coco Deck is a solid restaurant choice for anyone in the Lahaina area. Parking is not good on Front Street so be prepared to park at The Cannery and walk over just like we did. When entering the restaurant it looks ocean and modern, both the outside and inside fine options to dine at. We sat on the outside as the sun set and it was great. If it is too bright or windy then can lower a screen in front of your table at request. The menu is solid and pricey although not too diverse and the service was pretty good as well. For food we ordered the assassin burger and hot chicken sando. The burger was good, pretty standard stuff., The fries that come along with it are funky fries which are a combo of classic, curly, and sweet potato fries (tastes better than it sounds). The hot chicken sando was a slight letdown. It was not spicy at all and it began to fall apart in hand due to the sauce and how stacked it was. It was still a good sandwich, just a bit off on the execution. Ultimately the food was still pretty good and the view certainly helped. This is a great dinner spot if you don't mind spending some extra money but if you're keeping an eye on that kind of thing then we'd say to pass for now. read more

ZERO STARS!!!! We wanted to try something different and were excited to try this place after seeing the pictures of their tacos and smash burger. We arrived a little after 2pm. The host sat our party outside and we were given 2 adult menus, 2 kiddie menus and waters. Our "server" (whoever it was supposed to be) never took our order or asked if we were ready to order. Both kids were able to finish their word find, play tic tac toe twice and color their menu. A family got seated behind us and a little while later their server took their order. We thought that maybe she was our server as well, but after she took their order she walked away. Still... No one asked if we ordered or if we were ready to order. We waited for another 5 minutes or so before we decided to leave. As we were walking out, my friend told the host that we were leaving because our server never came around to check in on us. His reply was "Okay... Sorry." Is this how this restaurant treats their guests?! I'd say total wait time was 20+ minutes before we decided to leave. I will always cherish & miss all of my Lahaina Town childhood memories. There was a ton of special occasions spent at Warren & Annabelle's Magic. So when I saw Coco Deck Kitchen + Bar Lahaina was hosting a Tuesday night 4 course culinary experience with David Kuraya for a magical evening. I already knew, I had to go. I figured I'd treat my parents to an early Mother's Day outing. Plus this was all of our first time to experience the show plus the restaurant. My mother & I were both excited about the pre-set meal. We both ordered the Mahi. My father on the other hand wasn't impressed with the menu & was set for ordering a steak. But since it wasn't included he settled with a veggie bowl. (For future shows, I'd recommend having an upgrade option to either add or replace a protein. Since even another gentleman at our table mentioned he was craving chicken.) As for the magic show drink menu. I was impressed, the Alba-Cadabra with gin, lavender, lemon & butterfly pea blossom is absolutely delicious. This must try drink is displayed beautifully & is poured at the table. Plus the Shazam Shot is by far the coolest shot I've ever ordered. With pina colada, charcoal, edible glitter & coco foam. This shot was presented like a pristine miniature drink. Not only was so freaking cute but every drop was mouthwatering. Plus I was mesmerized by the glitter, it was simply magical. As for the Cosmic Cosmo, it was missing that magical wow factor to tie into the show. I'd recommend trying a flame or smoke presentation to not only get the person who ordered it jaw to drop. But also everyone who sees it will be asking what is that & I need one. I noticed David Kuraya making his rounds throughout the restaurant. Doing a meet & greet with each of his guests. This I thought was a very cool way to help make this experience memorable. Plus I didn't realize he has a line of coffee too. Which Kuraya coffee beverages should be offered on the menu. Coco Deck was a fine stop- nothing particularly unforgettable, but a chill, laid-back bar vibe that made for an easy, relaxed meal. We sat on the patio, which was really nice and right across the street from the water, even though it was dark. Service was great the entire time, which is the main reason we're rounding this up to 4 stars. Everyone was friendly, fast, and attentive. Food-wise, everything was good- not amazing, not terrible- just solid. We enjoyed the fish tacos and the fish & chips. The "My Girlfriend Isn't Hungry" add-on was cute and catchy, and the queso tacos were actually pretty good. But the chicken strip in the combo? Sad. Just a basic frozen-and-fried strip that felt like zero effort went into it. I liked the mixed fries concept, but it honestly felt like we got the leftovers- all the tiny, broken pieces at the bottom of the batch. Drinks, however, were good, and pricing felt fair for the area. This restaurant is owned by the same owned of Mala Ocean Tavern across the street, which we almost went to instead. Overall, Coco Deck is a perfectly fine place to grab a casual bite with good service and a great patio. Not the kind of spot you rave about later, but solid enough that we didn't regret stopping by.
