Great Yelp rating swayed our decision to try this little spot.

Nice surprise! Stumbled on this Venezuelan restaurant at the opposite side of The Fish Market, waiting for the market to open. I snapped pictures of the menu and convinced the family to give it a try last night. Good decision! It also helped to see 4.8 Yelp rating. I enjoyed my beef Pabellon and the yucca fries we shared. Daughters had the carne asada and Reina Pepiada. They fought a little over the pepiada, which turned out to be both their favorites. Husband liked his Camarones. We will be back!

I saw this place on Yelp and it attracted me because it's 100% gluten free. My husband is gluten free and it's always a struggle finding spots for him to eat at. While we are here on vacation, we will be coming back another time for sure. Yesterday we stopped by and ordered carne asada arepas with yuca fries on the side and hibiscus tea for our drink. Let me just say, this meal HIT the spot! The arepa was delicious! The meat was tender and they give a lot for the price! The combo of meat with mozzarella and tomato is just top tier! The yuca fries were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The hibiscus tea was perfectly tart and unsweetened. Will literally come back to either order the same thing or try something new! I'm sure everything here is 10/10! Miss Arepa's is the best even if you're not gluten free!! The service was wonderful and the workers were very sweet. Can't recommend this place enough!

AWESOME!!! We arrived at Miss Arepa, a cute Venezuelan establishment in a strip mall on Lower Honoapiilani Road, past Kaanapali, around 9:30 a.m. We drove thru a rainstorm from Makawao to try their food. Unfortunately, lunch didn't start until 11 a.m. So me and my significant other sat outside deciding what to do for 1-1/2 hours... The waitress came out and told us the cook said they could make our order if we'd wait a little longer! How thoughtful!!! The food was ready in less than 15 minutes, piping hot, and we paid and were on our way back to Makawao thru the pouring rain by 10:30 a.m.! AMAZING!!! What great customer service, amazing food, and a wonderful day, despite the rainstorm! Definitely worth the drive and effort finding Miss Arepa! Woo hoo!

On our first night in Maui, we were looking for some highly rated local spots and decided to try Miss Arepa. We had heard a lot about their famous arepas, but after reading a few reviews mentioning that they can get very stuffed and messy, we decided to try their bowls instead. I ordered the bowl with chipotle chicken, and my husband ordered the same bowl but added hongos (garlic mushrooms) as extra protein on the side. We also got their coconut mango slushie to go with it. The place itself is small but really cute, with a few tables both inside and outside. It has a casual, laid-back island vibe, and the staff were very courteous and welcoming. The food came out hot and fresh, and at first glance the portion looked a little small. But once you start mixing everything together, you realize it's actually quite filling and well-balanced. The bowls were packed with layers of flavor and ingredients. They also gave us two sauces--a creamy green sauce and a spicy red/orange sauce. Both were fantastic and really elevated the dish. The chipotle chicken was especially good--juicy, flavorful, and nicely spicy. The coconut mango slushie was honestly a perfect match for the meal. It was refreshing, tropical, and exactly what you want in the Maui weather. Overall, it was a great first meal on the island. Delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. If you're in Maui and looking for something casual but flavorful, Miss Arepa is definitely worth a visit.

I found this when searching best food in Maui so we decided to give it a try. Just as other reviews have said, it is a refreshing change of pace from tacos and fish dishes on the island. We ordered the Pabellon and wanted the Reina Pepiada but that one was out so we did La Mexicana instead. The food came out pretty quickly and very hot. The arepas are very juicy and more of a fork situation than what we thought it would be. It was actually hard to eat all together and the masa bread encasing was not my favorite alone so I used it as a chip and it was a bit better. The fillings and sauces they give you to add were both fantastic. The beef and chicken were well seasoned and full of flavor. The cilantro sauce was so creamy and flavorful; and the chipotle was a nice deep heat that was really punchy with flavor. Definitely filling and a decent price point. Overall, great service, good food, and nice change of pace.

Sooo delicious! We came for breakfast and had their ham and cheese arepa and the tuna salad arepa. The standout was the two sauces that were served with the arepas. My favorite was the spicy chipotle sauce--I added some sauce to every bite. The arepas were hot and an amazing texture.

Florentina is amazing. Her joyful attitude is infectious!! Thank you for such a pleasant dining experience :) This was my first time trying an arepa and I really liked it. I ordered the Camarones (shrimp sautéed in garlic with tomato and bell pepper, with the chipotle sauce on the side) the pieces of shrimp were HUGE and the arepa was filled to the top with them. I loved that. Sometimes in the states, I find that some restaurants skimp on the filling - but not here!! The garlic/tomato/bell pepper sauce was really good as well. Warning, it does get a bit messy w the garlic oil. But definitely worth it I also ordered the yuca fries and they were amazing as well. Super crispy outside, creamy on the inside - EXACTLY like how it's described on the menu There are seats to sit inside and out. My food came out super quick. They also offer free ice cold water, which I think is a super nice touch considering it is a beach side restaurant and people are probably dying from the heat

Great restaurant option if you want something different from all of the (also fantastic) Hawaiian food on the island. Miss Arepa is a Venezuelan restaurant specializing in arepas. They had a variety of arepas, from plant based options to meat options. The employee that recommended one arepa per person so we got the carne asada and la sifrina arepa. Portions are generous and they load the arepas up with all of the fillings. I asked for the employee's recommendation for a side and she recommended the tajadas (sweet fried plantains). Everything came out fresh and and food was very hot. We absolutely loved the arepas and the tajadas were a nice side that we were glad to try, albeit a bit oily that made it hard to finish. Again, we loved that everything came out really fresh, packed with flavor, and would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the Lahaina area. Parking lot is a bit small and shared with several other establishments. There is indoor seating as well as a few tables outside. When we arrived for lunch, all outdoor tables were taken and the inside area was packed with both customers dining in and customers trying to order.

The creamy sauces were delicious in everything

The owner was very friendly and expressive, she chatted with us brurefly and took our order right away. We ordered Hawaiian & pabellon arepas, Yuka fries and hibiscus tea with no sugar. Everything tasted good, I especially like the Yuka fries and the pabellon arepa. The Yuka fries was serving pipping hot and it was so good with the creamy sauce, while the roasted beef, cheese and Pantene combo in the arepa tasted delicious. I personally find the salsa in the Hawaiian arepa a bit soggy, and wish my hibiscus tea has added sugar in it. But my husband likes it with no sugar so that's that! Overall, Miss Arepa is a very charming shop with delicious Venezuela food. We would recommend it if you want to try something different.

This is a local spot known for its arepas and empanadas. It was busy and rightfully so because the food was phenomenal. I got the chicken empanadas. They were tasty - delicious and crispy- packed with well seasoned chicken, we also had arepas, yucca fries ( cooked to crispy perfection) and the dessert Mandocas (this was a bit plantain based for my liking but my dad gobbled them right up). The fries and the empanadas with the cream sauce were my favorite- delightful! People here were nice there was parking out front . The restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating but they did have tables and chairs outside.

Food: 5 - Had the Arepa Carne Asada. Wow! I hate to say this, but it's my first time eating Venezuela food, I'll be on the look out for more, Flavors are on point! Their garlic and chipotle sauce they give you on the side, I can eat that on everything. First time having Yuca fries, I've been missing out! Way better than regular potatoes. Next time I come here, this is my first stop. The restaurant is super cute clean and they play their countries music, I love it. The ladies that work there all really friendly and sweet.

We came by Miss Arepa while we are on vacation. It's located a small plaza with ample parking in the lot. We went on a Saturday late afternoon and it wasn't busy. Cute decor and atmosphere with indoor seating. I got the Pabellon ($14)- black beans, queso fresco, shredded beef, and sweet plantain. It was loaded! The garlic sauce came on the side. It was super delicious and filling. The shredded beef was tender and flavorful and the other ingredients complemented each other well. I also got the Frozen Mango Cocado drink and it was so refreshing! Highly recommend!

    Hawaiian pork arepa. Gluten free.

I have many food allergies. It sucks and is hard to find safe and yummy food on vacation. Miss Arepa has entered the chat! This is a 100% gluten free restaurant. That alone gave me so much comfort. The staff was also very knowledgeable and helpful. They helped me pick the safest option for me. (I can't eat gluten, dairy or garlic). I tried their Hawaiian pork arepa and was blown away away. So delicious. I don't eat pork often, it's not my first choice or meat but this was soooo good I would definitely order again and recommend to anyone.

It's so hard to miss this vibrant truck with the cute smiling Arepas flashing a Shaka holding a Venezuela flag, and this newbie is the one to find as you must follow them on Instagram @arepas_hawaii and view their stories for locations feels like an exclusive secret spot. Well I found them in Kaka'ako right beside Milky Way Truck right along side Mother Waldron Park and yes it piqued my curiosity and though I do see on their instagram with menu items including empanadas as well though today it seems to be a selected Arepas seven varieties to be exact (Pollo, Pernil, Carne Asada, Spam, Pabellon and Vegetariana). Arepas are ground corn patties grilled and typically are enjoyed like bread are stuff with various fillings and my Pollo (shredded chicken) was stuffed beyond belief along with queso cheese was so enormous she apologize as it was impossible to close the container lol! The chicken was very moist and flavorful not spicy or loaded with sauce though it's standardly comes with cheese you're able to pile on the toppings by adding extras like more cheese or four types of salsa for +$2...oh my gosh what a fun and generous portions she serves here...it's all love! Was going to order an empanada, 2 drinks and arepa but they said $38. Paid $20 for 2 drinks and 1 empanada instead. Boy o boy did I regret it! $3 for each bottle water?! So that makes the empanada $14?!....lets talk about it! I understand your an arepa truck. But this empanada seems like is made with the same dough as the arepa but just fried. It was so gross and mushy. On top of it the price that was crossed off said $7 under it. I figure, maybe price change is like....$8/$9. Sheesh $14? That's a big difference. Basically paid double. Wasn't even worth it. It was so gross and lacked any flavor. Took me 3 bites to get into the center where the meat filling was. First and last time I'll be eating here!

The location off the beaten path is what originally drew me in. The exterior patio seating with blue umbrellas made me curious. Once I walked inside, I instantly knew the Cuban food was going to hit. Not only did it hit, it exploded into space and I returned 4 times on my vacation and recruited family members to go multiple times as well. On my first solo visit, I was going in to strictly get coffee and then decided to give a main dish a shot which was the traditional cuban. Let me tell you - I wish my husband was with me as the portions here are out of this world. This dish came out on a colorful dish on top of a bamboo board with fruit galore! It looked like a painting that I shouldn't touch but rightfully did. Needless to say, I had a leftover box on day 1. I then returned more times and want to highlight the Monte Castro sandwich which I fortunately or unfortunately split with my husband. Unreal!! It was drizzled in honey, served on the bamboo plate, had double decker bread and a plethora of fruit and some picked veggies on the side. I don't want to say more because I want everyone to go and split this meal with a loved one. It is award winning deserving. For my 3rd visit, I had the papaya bowl and once again - it was fantastic and required a to-go box as well. I'm so sad to know I'll never get to try the tres leche French toast as my vacation is coming to a close and there are so many more items I wanted to try. Castro's knows how to do it and I really think all restaurants should take notes from this establishment. I'll still support the place, but to really love supporting them even more, I have some friendly recommendations. I love the char on the meat, the salsas are great and were given to me cold (great sign! As unbelievable as it may seem, this simple step is missed in a lot of places!), the beans and rice with the sasoun like abuela used to make- chef's kiss! and even better than Ono tacos in Kahului in my opinion, and their beans and rice are pretty fly). The pollo and asada, one day has more flavor than the next. Some days, no salt at all. So if you bring a guest, just pack some limes and salt just in case, so they'll believe you when you say this place is awesome. Problem solved. Additionally, the comment about the fatty inedible bits of steak- yes, I have experienced it also, that is an anomaly that the chef should be able to catch. That's not ok and will turn a lot of people off from the food, please quality control or let the butcher know so you guys are getting value. Sometimes I know those fatty cartridge chunks can contribute to flavor because of the oils, but that can be done in a separate process and removed before plating with that primo asada. First visit I loved the carne asada tacos. Quality is very hard to find here on Maui, and once you find it, consistency even harder, but I really like this place so I'm coming back and bringing more folks. The marinade and seasoning was on point that first time. The second time, the beans and rice had wayyy more flavor than the chicken and the steak, just being real. I look forward to trying more. I bring guests here and they say the same things. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and I know food can be hard work, just iron out your processes so they're firme every time, make sure everyone working follows the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and people will remember it for sure, the potential for even more greatness is definitely there, no one else is making tacos like this! just needs attention to detail. Also.. not to end on a bad note, but I've gotta say it- you -always- should provide or offer silverware to customers, and napkins. That's only proper form. The service and kindness of the young man taking orders is impeccable, he is kind and personable to people and you can tell he was raised with respect , has dignity and kindness for others. Well done! This is rare also and people notice. What a good bruddah! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. I live with constant pain. I don't always wanna cook, shop, marinate, and all the steps it takes to make an epic meal, unless I'm cooking for a lot of people I love. I can tell you're spreading the love with your food, I hope my honesty isn't harsh, I really want everyone to eat well and I want businesses to do amazingly. Gracias!
