Upon a recommendation, we stood in a very long line for 3, yes 3 hours for two cinnamon rolls! They were delicious, stupendous, gooey, soft & chewy, and very huge! Two were more than plenty for two mornings for two hungry Maui lovers. Never had sore knees until standing for 3 straight hours! We were headed to the beach when my cousin decided to make a pit stop at this cinnamon roll place. We got there on a Monday just after 11:00 a.m. and walked right in! There were two people in line ahead of us. My cousin was surprised because she had seen videos of the long lines of people waiting in line for them to open in the morning. Was excited to try this place after seeing on social media while planning a trip for our 10th anniversary and it didn't disappoint. We had a friend go 2 weeks ago who recommended we get there early around 6ish and that was some amazing advice. Got there an around 6:30am, later than we had initially planned but it worked out. Between the two of us, we couldn't even finish 1. Which ended up being nice because they still warm up in the micro pretty well. The ham and cheese croissant was a pleasant surprise. Ended up being really good. My wife isn't usually a ham person, but she said it was like hand carved ham you'd have at Christmas. Cookies were okay. I usually prefer a fluffier soft cookie. Usually when we visit Hawaii and I want cookies , we usually are on Oahu and my go to there is Cookie Corner. Service was great. While waiting, they'll come out and take coffee orders. Only thing was their espresso machine was down that day but was still able to get iced coffee. And once they open, they keep it pretty efficient to keep the line moving. Overall, having to wait for an hour for the croissant and cinnamon rolls was worth it. Probably wouldn't do the cookies again. I've seen some other reviews saying they had to wait 2-3 hours, which is pushing it. I dunno if I'd be willing to do that. Papi Ohana was absolutely worth the early morning adventure! I drove about 45 minutes on a Thursday morning, arrived around 6:30 a.m., and waited close to two hours to get their famous cinnamon rolls. The wait might sound long, but the experience made it worthwhile. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They genuinely appreciated when customers took photos and videos and were so much fun to interact with--they really embrace social media and make everyone feel at home. Amazing! My visit was back in 2024, and I absolutely love how much this business is still striving I can't believe I forgot to post about our visit. Huge line around 6:30am but worth the wait. Since it was our last morning in Maui I didn't buy too much but had regrets not to bring extra home to share with the kids. Is it good? Yes. Is it "stand-in-line-forever" good? Not for me. I'm just past the stage of chasing hype, but based on the crowds wrapping around the corner, I'm clearly in the minority. The cinnamon rolls, though, are the real deal: soft, gooey, draped in glaze and yet somehow isn't overyly sweet, and when they're warm they just melt in your mouth. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't for me. Waited 3.5 hours on a Tuesday morning (from 6:30am-10am, their croissants were sold out so we bought 4 of the cinnamon rolls & a box of cookies. If you don't feel like reading my whole review, here's the short version... the hype is real and worth the trip! My wife's sister, who just moved away from Hawaii told us about this place. She told us we had to come here. She made sure to mention to carve out a couple hours of the day, because we'll be waiting in line. We took an Uber over there, and as soon as we got in the car and the driver mentioned the address he said, are y'all ready to wait?!?! I think we got there around 10 AM and the line was already long! We knew we would have to be very patient this day. Luckily it wasn't super hot outside so that helped with the waiting process. They did have someone come around and offer coffee and water to purchase while we waited in line. I thought that was pretty smart under the circumstances that everyone has to deal with while waiting here. After probably a 2 hour wait... we finally got in! They have other options of things to eat. Scones, croissants and things like that. We were there for the star player... the cinnamon roll! These things are huge! My wife and I said since we waited so long, we might as well get two and enjoy one of them for later. I never envisioned myself waiting two hours for a cinnamon roll, or any other type of treats, but this was well worth it. We wanted to have one while it was fresh out the oven, so we found a bench to sit at around a bus stop. It was so soft, pretty much melted in your mouth. The icing was tasty. It was so fresh, it's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. We were in line for ~40 minutes at 9:40 AM on a Monday. There's plenty of coffee places nearby (including Papi's own coffee service) to help pass the time. We had 2 separate pickups, one for my brother and one for his in laws, 4 pizzas in total. I think all together we had vegetarian, pineapple/pepperoni, Hawaiian and vegetarian plus pepperoni. Everyone from the kids to grandpa enjoyed the pizza and dare I say it might even be better as cold leftovers? Crust isn't heavy so it's easy to want to grab another slice. I heard about this from Yelp's Top 100 list and then from multiple friends that come to Maui often. The line is no joke - waited 45 minutes in the rain. The smell wafting out of the window was heavenly and the rolls themselves once we got to the door were insane! A whole clamshell to go container size. So! Was it worth it? After 2.5 hours wait, we made it. Come early if you wanna get some cookies or croissants, they ran out quick. Ok! My husband waited in that line the see the hype! Short review, he was able to snag a couple for us and it was like hawaiian rolls with light cinnamon and the frosting isnt overly sweet which i like. Super fluffy, amazing with my coffee. Now that we tried it, would we wait multiple hours again? Probably not. (I'm not a line person so if you are, by all means keep coming!) Oh my goodness! This is the best cinnamon roll I have EVER eaten. My only complaint is that I live in Arizona- I want to grab a flight just to come eat here again! Visiting a friend in Lahaina, so at my friends recommendation, our group and I stopped by to grab breakfast before a fun day. The pasty itself was buttery and flaky, and there was a very good amount of filling inside the pastry. No skimping on the spam! The cinnamon roll is everything I was looking for, and it's also huge (bigger than my face!). No part of the roll is dry, and the dough is soft. The frosting is indulgent without being heavy, and the cinnamon filling is pleasantly spiced without being overly sweet. Don't get me wrong, though- this cinnamon roll is RICH- in the best way! One thing I will say is that I am not kidding that these are huge- unless you're looking to enter a food coma, these rolls are definitely sharing size. We went to Papi's Ohana 3 times this trip. We did a 5am wake up call for cinnamon rolls, cookies and scones for one visit, pizza for another and lastly strolled in at 11am another day to grab more scones and cinnamon rolls. Must haves: The mango and pineapple scones are amazing. Our 3rd trip in was just to get scones, because I couldn't stop talking about them! I liked to put them in our fridge, and just break off pieces as I walked by. I swear they are even better and more flavorful the next day! The cookies are so good! My son called them the best he has had, and is wanting us to try and recreate them when we get home. They come in a box cold, and 10 seconds in a microwave really brings them to life! I'm certainly not going to dispute their claim that their Cinnamon Rolls are the best in Maui, what I had was excellent. It was a large sweet spiral, mostly soft, perfect color. Once we returned to where we were staying the two rolls we bought were devoured as the compliments flew. Being able to buy these was not so easy. Papi's Ohana is an old building with a small, tight, parking lot and no other obvious parking spots nearby. We ended up just being dropped off and while we stood in line one of us took the car somewhere else and drove back once we had our treats. There was a line, fairly long, but the wait wasn't so bad as we anticipated the prize at the end. We were greeted with an Aloha and a smile when we reached the register to place our order. Having a cinnamon roll from Papi's Ohana was a great Maui experience. read more
