I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't for me. Waited 3.5 hours on a Tuesday morning (from 6:30am-10am, their croissants were sold out so we bought 4 of the cinnamon rolls & a box of cookies. The cookies are delicious, I love that they put pistachios in it & it's not overly sweet, they were my favorite. The cinnamon rolls unfortunately fell short for me. There was something about them that just didn't "wow" me enough to be believing the hype. However, I'm still glad that I tried it. & to each their own.

    Cinnamon roll!

If you don't feel like reading my whole review, here's the short version... the hype is real and worth the trip! My wife's sister, who just moved away from Hawaii told us about this place. She told us we had to come here. She made sure to mention to carve out a couple hours of the day, because we'll be waiting in line. As you can see pictures from other people's reviews, that's definitely the case. We took an Uber over there, and as soon as we got in the car and the driver mentioned the address he said, are y'all ready to wait?!?! I think we got there around 10 AM and the line was already long! We knew we would have to be very patient this day. Luckily it wasn't super hot outside so that helped with the waiting process. They did have someone come around and offer coffee and water to purchase while we waited in line. I thought that was pretty smart under the circumstances that everyone has to deal with while waiting here. After probably a 2 hour wait... we finally got in! They have other options of things to eat. Scones, croissants and things like that. We were there for the star player... the cinnamon roll! These things are huge! My wife and I said since we waited so long, we might as well get two and enjoy one of them for later. I never envisioned myself waiting two hours for a cinnamon roll, or any other type of treats, but this was well worth it. We wanted to have one while it was fresh out the oven, so we found a bench to sit at around a bus stop. It was so soft, pretty much melted in your mouth. The icing was tasty. It was so fresh, it's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. I'm sure spending two hours of your time being in Maui you don't want to sit in line waiting on something like a cinnamon roll, trust me I felt the same way. After doing this, I WILL do it again the next time I'm there! Next time, I would be there first thing in the morning and waiting in line before they open up, that way I'll have time for other activities around the island that I have planned for the day. The wait is worth it, and I highly suggest this place!

So! Was it worth it? After 2.5 hours wait, we made it. Come early if you wanna get some cookies or croissants, they ran out quick. They were very nice, before the shop open they walk around offering folks for ordering coffee or water, they also offer umbrella to beat the heat and chairs to sit down. Coffee is a bit pricey but well, you don't wanna lose your spot. We got there at 7:35, got in at 10:20, by then most of the stuff outside the rolls are gone. Now the final answer if it is worth the wait, i would say yes!! The rolls were crispy and the cream omg, the bomb i think they added condensed milk as i can taste it. I'm glad i got two.

Yes! If only you could smell this!

Thanks to a fellow Yelper, I learned the trick of going later in the morning. I hardly waited five minutes. And I know some people show up long before they open and wait in line for hours. It does look fun to be part of the community waiting together and being on their daily Facebook video. But... I was good with the short wait. And....what a de-licious cinnamon roll. I only got one to share between three of us. I had to stop myself from eating more than my share! Lovely friendly service too! I'm a fan!

The biggest cinnamon rolls!!! We checked Papi's at 10 but there was still quite a line so we got coffee and came back at 11 and the line was much shorter. We luckily snagged a parking spot next to it, but there was only one left. We waited around 10-15 minutes. Everything was sold out except the cinnamon rolls. We got one for $12 and it was huge! We were going to save half but it was so good we finished almost all of it. Super big, flavorful, I just wish there was a bit more cinnamon flavor.

Do not let the long wait times you read about deter you from going here! We arrived at 6am, the line at that point was long but manageable. From the time we got in line to the time we were inside and got our Cinnamon Rolls was 3 hours and 10 min. It went fast because you become friends with everyone around you. I heard not one complaint from anyone standing in line. The owners are the sweetest people you will meet. The first bite made the waiting worth it. The Cinnamon Rolls was the best I have ever had. We also tried the pineapple scone which was moist and not too sweet and the Portuguese Sausage Croissant which was so buttery and flaky. I cannot rave enough of this place. We will be back every time we visit the island!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news for those who don't like to wait in line, but the line is totally worth it. I honestly did not want to stand around in line for a cinnamon roll, which are not my favorite (so I thought it wouldn't blow my mind) but I'm really glad my boyfriend convinced me to wait. We were in line for ~40 minutes at 9:40 AM on a Monday. There's plenty of coffee places nearby (including Papi's own coffee service) to help pass the time. I can't emphasize enough how fantastic this cinnamon roll was... served right out of the oven, so warm, with an excellent crunch around all the edges but still warm and gooey on the inside. It's pretty big so can serve 3-4 (we had leftovers)

The big question, is it worth the wait? Well, the lines speak for themselves. YES, Papi's is worth it. Even if you wait 3 hours. These massive cinnamon rolls are soft, fluffy and full of cinnamon sugar and love. Smothered in their frosting and wow, chefs kiss! They were a bit low on other items, but we did have a ham croissant which was also delicious. It's a small shop and only a handful of people fit inside at a time. So be prepared to spend most of your wait out in the sun. Bring water!!

Well I'm surprised I haven't left a review a few years ago!! Papi's never disappoints! Watching them grow every year is awesome and if you haven't been here before then you're missing out and I suggest fitting them into your schedule!! A few tips... wake up early hit the line at 5am trust me if you show up at 6am you might as well bring an umbrella and chair because the line goes down the block and they open at 7. A Fresh cup of coffee and a amazing cinnamon roll sitting watching the ocean can't beat it!! Let's also. It for get they have Pizza too !!

I heard about this from Yelp's Top 100 list and then from multiple friends that come to Maui often. The line is no joke - waited 45 minutes in the rain. The smell wafting out of the window was heavenly and the rolls themselves once we got to the door were insane! A whole clamshell to go container size. People were ordering by the half or whole dozen and getting them in pizza boxes. Food: The rolls were super fresh, soft, and delicious. The Portuguese sausage roll was also super yummy and my personal favorite as more of a savory fan.

Definitely worth the wait and hype! The most fluffy airy cinnamon rolls! Also had their tropical scone soooo yummy! Got there around 7:30 waited for about an hr and a half. Staff were very friendly! Most of the wait is outside so take a hat. Parking is limited so had to find street parking.

This is the line at 8am for cinnamon rolls. OMG

I can't say anything about this business except that they are always busy. Day and night. Day for the cinnamon rolls and night for their pizzas.

Cinnamon roll is huge and very buttery and soft. The frosting on top is delicious
    Tammie B.

Snagged one of the "famous" cinnamon rolls and it was ok but I definitely wouldn't wait for hours to get one like a lot of people do. The cinnamon roll was super fresh, but could have used a little more cinnamon. The frosting on top was delicious and the size of the roll was huge (plenty to share).

Well they had me at Bakery, great small establishment filled with fresh baked goods packed full of flavor. Some seating inside but essentially a grab and go place. Staff is very friendly and helpful, offering free samples as you peruse the cases filled with both sweet and savory treats as well as mini cakes. Decided to pick up a few sweet items and went with the cinnamon rolls, the coffee cake and the bread pudding. The savory case was filled with house made empanadas of various proteins and vegetables, they looked amazing but figured will have to return for those since we were heading out for the day and had no way to keep them until we got back to the resort. The cinnamon roll was very good, the perfect amount of sweetness combined with cream cheese to make the ultimate icing, and it's not drenched in icing so the ratio of dough to icing was spot on. They are good sized so you could actually share it and still feel like you weren't shorted of deliciousness. The coffee cake was prepared with blueberries and had a streusel type topping, cake was light and flavorful. The bread pudding was tasty, dense and not too sweet, we tried a few bites but will enjoy it more when we get back to our resort and can warm it up a bit. All and all it was a great find in a quiet little beachfront neighborhood. Great place to pick up fresh bakery to have with your coffee in the morning's while taking in the fresh ocean air and the sounds of the waves bringing that Maui zen. Well done Pau Bakery, I will be back to try your savory empanadas next Mangiamo e dulce tutti. Ciao

It has quickly become a staple for us on the island, and we were excited to share a relaxed meal here with family. The atmosphere was wonderfully welcoming and comfortable, setting the perfect stage for a great dinner together. We started our meal with a few appetizers to share: the Ricotta Montata, the Focaccia Gonfia, and the Polpette. All of them were very good, and pairing the smooth whipped ricotta with the warm, fluffy focaccia was a perfect combination. For the entrees, my dad and my husband both ordered the Lasagna. It's a classic staple they are known for, and it was just as good as usual. My mom got the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, which I've had before and really enjoyed, and it was delicious. I decided to try a new item from their summer menu called "Don't Call Me Alfredo." The gnocchi was light and pillowy, and the Parmigiano Reggiano cream sauce completely hit the spot. To finish the night, we ordered the Sorbetto del Giorno to share, which happened to be lilikoi. It was so refreshing and flavorful. Word of advice: don't sleep on their gelatos and sorbettos because they have always been a hit for us. Overall, Sale Pepe remains hands down my favorite restaurant in Maui. The consistent quality makes it a definitive must-try, and we will absolutely be back on our next trip.
