We went around 10:30am on a Monday and there were still plenty of cinnamon rolls available. Only two items were sold out, the ham and cheese croissant and something else. Staff are super friendly!! The wait is long...bring a chair, book, a friend, and cards. We made friends in line with fellow crazy, cinnamon roll-loving people. I am a self-proclaimed cinnamon roll addict and this one is worth the wait. Even my health-conscious daughter said that these cinnamon rolls were worth the indulgence. We ordered 4 cinnamon rolls and re-heated the leftovers and they were almost as delicious as fresh so don't be shy when you order. The service was kind and efficient. They take your coffee orders while in line to make the waiting more tolerable. We love their playlist and decor as well. All around top-notch experience. I'm certainly not going to dispute their claim that their Cinnamon Rolls are the best in Maui, what I had was excellent. It was a large sweet spiral, mostly soft, perfect color. Once we returned to where we were staying the two rolls we bought were devoured as the compliments flew. Being able to buy these was not so easy. Papi's Ohana is an old building with a small, tight, parking lot and no other obvious parking spots nearby. We ended up just being dropped off and while we stood in line one of us took the car somewhere else and drove back once we had our treats. There was a line, fairly long, but the wait wasn't so bad as we anticipated the prize at the end. We were greeted with an Aloha and a smile when we reached the register to place our order. Everything about the cinnamon roll was so so delicious!!! It is so pillowy soft, gooey icing. EXTRA LARGE!!!!! Serving size is enough for two people I also ordered the sausage and cheese croissant which I was pleasantly surprised about because they use a Portuguese sausage so there's a bite to it. The cheese was also gooey. The croissant itself was super buttery and flaky I was in between the ham&cheese or sausage&cheese croissant and I asked the woman working to decide for me. Her attitude was so pleasant. It really makes the experience that much more amazing, especially since it was early in the morning. I do advise you to go early, maybe before they open so you can get the items you want. Once they sell out, they close I did wait about an hour but I do think it's worth it. This was one of our first stops in Maui! We got there at 6:45 am (the jet lag from east coast really helps!) and as expected, there was a huge line already. We got a cinnamon roll and a Portuguese Sausage crossaint. King David Cinnamon Roll: Be warned- this is not a one person job. More like 4. So you'll need a friend or two! And yes, it was the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. The fact that it was warm and toasty made it so much better. Definitely could have used a little less glaze though. Because the roll was hot the glaze melted into little pockets and some bites were just pure sugary glaze. Portuguese Sausage Crossaint: This was our first time having Portuguese sausage and it tastes like a cross between chorizo and Vietnamese lap cheong. The crossaint itself also somehow had some infused salty sausagey flavor in it which was delicious. Throw some scrambled egg in there and it would have been a 10/10 breakfast crossaint. Couldn't taste the cheese. We waited about an hour, which wasn't even as long as those behind us since by the time it was 7:30 am the line was already down the block! Everyone seemed to be in a positive mood while waiting though! There is a parking lot right next to the shop, but I probably wouldn't even bother if you're planning on coming early when everyone else is. I'm giving three stars because the cinnamon rolls were good and different than my usual cinnamon roll experience. The mango scone tasted like a regular scone to me and I didn't get any mango chunks in mine, so maybe just mango flavor? I feel like this business gets a pass on their operations because they are genuinely kind and good people, but a woman fainted while waiting in line (the owners wife shared that medical emergencies happen often due to waiting so many hours in the heat), so the lack of identifying a better solution is risky in a way that is actually causing harm. A reservation system or some kind of other solution would keep people both well fed and safer. Neighboring businesses said the hack is to arrive at 10 when the initial rush has died down. Though, I did get there at 6:35am on a Thursday and finally got the goods at 8:20am. Was it worth it? I'd say so, but I made sure to try at least a few of their vegetarian options even though it was just 3 of us devouring the items. Cinnamon Roll: fabulous, must get! Tropical Scone: so good, has chunks of pineapple which come through nicely. I wasn't too sure about waiting in line for a cinnamon roll, but I had to give it a try and I'm so glad I did! The line wasn't bad at all on a weekday, only about a 10-minute wait to get in. I got there around 9 a.m., and most of the items were already sold out, but luckily they still had the famous King David's cinnamon roll. It truly lives up to its name it's a king! The size, the flavor, the texture everything was perfect. Fresh out of the oven, soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside with just the right amount of sweetness. We rushed over here after watching the sunrise on Haleakalā. Unfortunately they had special hours this Tuesday and they were closed so I couldn't try what they say are the best cinnamon rolls ever. Yes it really is worth the wait!! People line up more than an hour before this place opens at 7 am and still have wait over an hour. They are open until 2 pm or until they are sold out. Hubby got in line about 9 am and waited one hour and 18 minutes for our cinnamon rolls. Hot and fresh out of the oven; quite possibly the best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted. Ill be honest, I normally don't fall for gimmicks but I was seriously impressed with Papis. We came here twice once at night for pizza and again for the famous Cinnamon bun. 1. Pizza: The pizza was really good! There's literally only one guy cranking out dozens of pizzas so the wait time is a bit long. We ordered on the phone and came at the predicted finish time but still had to wait a little maybe 15 more minutes but it was well worth it! We came the morning before as well around 11 Am and they were completely sold out so we came earlier this time. The line was crazy out the door and we waited about 45mins to 1 hour for it. I honestly don't like Cinnamon buns that much but I felt we needed to give it a try as there was so much demand. 1. Cinnamon bun: Holy crap these are huge. My wife and I ordered two just because we waited in line so long that I felt it wasn't worth just getting one and I ended up bringing one back for my family to try. The Bun is SOOOO GOOD! it's perfectly cooked and not too dry or hard like I feel alot of placed do. It is very soft and gooey. It's not overly cinnamon flavored either. I'd compare it to a really really soft and freshly baked donut that has cinnamon glaze over it. It peals really easily. Easily the best Cinnamon Bun I've ever had. Overall, my wife loved their pizza and I loved their Cinnamon Bun. Is it worth a 1 hour wait? Probably not. The King David, cinnamon roll at Papi's Ohana is the best cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. I've grown up in a family where cinnamon rolls made from scratch are an important tradition. I consider myself an obsessed aficionado in perennial pursuit of the best cinnamon roll I can find. I found it at Poppy's Ohana! It had a hint of flakiness like a French style pastry, but it also had a soft chewy doughy texture as well. It had a nice bold cinnamon taste, and the frosting was not too sweet and not too thick so as to overpower the cinnamon role (like some can). The cookies were also amazing! Mac nut, pistachio and chocolate chip cookies- so so good! The best thing about Papi's Ohana is the team - especially Linda. But wow was the sacrifice of getting up early worth it. Cinnamon roll was the best I ever had. It was croissant like texture inside and the glaze was delicious. Definitely a 5/5, great flavor and texture. My husband and I shared one because they're as big as your face. Ordered a chocolate croissant which was also good and a bag of their ground coffee to enjoy at home. I recommend triple checking their hours and website before you come. We got up at 6am the day before only to get there and find out they were closed.
