Amazing spam masubis (especially the jalepeno ones!) and pretty good malasadas! They only had vanilla and chocolate malasadas by 7:30am! Be ready to wait in line, but everything is homemade there!

Sugar Beach is just down the road from many of the hotels and great beaches in Kihei. This little local bakery has some wonderful bakery items including malasadas. If you're looking for malasadas, I feel they have some of the best to be found on Maui! Deliciously sweet and soft with a creamy filling; it's hard to stop eating them. In fact, I found myself going back there every few days to get my fix of velvety dulcitude. My advice, buy a box with your +1, find a spot on a bench and give your taste buds a delightful infusion of of one of Hawaii's infamous treats while you watch the chickens and enjoy the outside Hawaiian weather.

I love coming here for the malasadas as well as the spicy spam musubi. There is usually a line but it moves fast. I come pretty early and parking is not an issue then. If you can find a spot in the parking lot, you can try parking across the street by the beach. Whenever I'm staying in wailea, this is one of my first stops for the yummy goods! Coffee wasn't bad but it's really the malasadas that rock my boat here! My fav ones are coconut and ube. Cant wait to come back when I'm in Maui next year!

It was our last day and we went to get malasadas for breakfast before our hike. It was our first time trying malasadas and we thoroughly enjoyed them all. Each malasadas was $2.75 and we chose ube, passion fruit, and coconut. There was a good dough to cream ratio and can be quite filling. The dough was light with a denser middle. They remind me of the donuts from i'm donut but less fluffy. It's a small little bake shop located right next to Ululani's Shaved Ice on the left. They sell malasadas, pies (which were quite expensive - more than Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop), and drinks (matcha latte, etc). You can see the malasadas right on the counter when you walk in. The lady was nice and told us which ones were popular. I think if they sold more flavors it would be a hit like matcha since they already serve matcha drinks or any other ingredients they already have on hand.

Popular as there was a line to enter but definitely worth it if you're a sweet treat lover. They had a wide variety of options including merch for sale. The malasadas were so fresh and delicious, my favorite was the coconut. We ended up visiting 2x during our stay!

Sugar Beach Bake Shop is located in a small plaza, sharing a parking lot with the Farmer's Market, ABC Store, and Ululani's. There are known for their malasadas, coffee, and other baked goods. We went around 7:30 AM and there was already a line. Be sure to get there early before the malasadas sell out! We ordered a coconut malasada, ube malasada, and a coffee. All of them were delicious. I especially enjoyed the ube one, so definitely give that one a try. Now onto the hidden surprise (well, at least for me)! This place also sells spam musubis! I love eating spam musubis and I always have to try one wherever we go. I noticed they had musubis in the back warmer and I knew I had to get one. I got the spicy musubi and it was probably the best musubi I've had on this trip. If you like spicy, then this is a definite must try! The jalapeño inside the musubi gives it a good kick. After eating it, I got back in like to order a few more for the road. Overall, I highly recommend trying this place. Come get their popular malasadas and coffee, but don't forget to try their spicy musubi!

Best pie on Maui. While you are waiting for shaved ice stop in. Customer service is excellent! Busy parking lot with assertive chickens. Only open till two so be on time!

    Refrigerated pastry case (8/29/25)

We had a bagful of fresh, delicious malasadas back in July 2015. No such luck on 8/29/25. These plain or filled doughy treats are available between 6 - 10am, but sometimes one can luck out midday day. Parking lot and outdoor seating is shared with ABC Store and a popular shave ice spot, so can be a bit busy. Enticing pastry case and well curated gifts/souvenirs are also available. We did end up buying a lemon bar and a pineapple, orange, and guava (POG) tart. Tasty, however it is ideal to eat them same day as purchased. Before heading to the Kahului Airport, we detoured again on 9/2/25 and scored on some chocolate filled malasadas. We ate these with local chickens walking around nearby. I also bought a Tshirt. I enjoyed talking briefly with the proprietor. Expedient, efficient customer service on both occasions. Business has been around in Kihei since 2014, good longevity.

We wanted to come here for the malassadas. We got there at 12:30 and I got the last 3. So if you want them make sure you are there by 10am. I scored 1 ube and 2 coconut. Both were delicious! They had an amazing variety of desserts from brownies, personal pies, and macaroons! I was happily surprised to see individual quiche pies as well! We picked up a quiche that had kimchi and Portuguese sausage. It was SO good. We also got a POG tart and coconut cream pie. The ladies that work there were very sweet. Parking is in a lot and its limited. Outdoor seating only. Is it worth the drive?...yes

    Coconut and Lillikoi stuffies

Next to the Ululani's shave ice is the Sugar Beach Bake Shop. Since it's lunch time, they had limited choices. We saw the stuffies, like the cream puff and wanted to give it a try. We tried the coconut and lilikoi flavor. The outside of the stuffies is like donut and the filling is like custard. This is perfect if you have it with a cup of tea of coffee. A very nice treat.

We love this bake shop. It's located across the street from our condo, so we visit it often while we're in Kihei. They have a large selection of sweet and savory treats. If you get there early you can buy some Malasadas, but really with any of the pastries it's a good idea to check them out in the morning. By afternoon everything is pretty much picked over. Their personal pies are delicious including the Chocolate Banana which was our favorite. It's a favorite place for getting early morning coffee and a pastry, so you'll see lines if you go too early!! If you like baked goods, stop in this place. You won't be disappointed.

Good spot for a Malasada and a coffee! They also sell teas, other food items, & other sundries to take home. The ube was delicious, my kids liked it too! Good customer service! I only docked a star because by 1pm you could tell it wasn't super fresh. Maybe they could offer to warm it a tad? Not sure if anything can be done about that!

The food tasted good but portions were small for the price. The yogurt and granola was very plain as well as the waffle special. We may come back to try dinner but breakfast was a little expensive. Maybe try other options on the menu.

We shared a 12-inch pizza adding our favorites to our sides. I had artichokes and mushrooms on my side; hubby had pepperoni, mushrooms, onions. We had arugula over the whole pizza. I love thin crust especially when it's crispy which this one was except on part of the bottom. It was tasty but there were very few mushrooms on either side, and very little sauce. The pepperoni was tasty and not at all greasy. There were adequate artichokes, onions and arugula. The outside area was clean and comfortable. The staff was attentive, and helpful. It's located off the main streets, but parking at the door. Also, the Friends of Maui Library Bookstore is just a few steps away, a plus! The pizza was good except for part of the bottom being soggy. When we return to the island we may try again.
