We are big fans of Manuela's and have tried some of their locations and let me just say we have yet to have a better Malasada than theirs. These little gems of deliciousness are so good it's our first stop after leaving the airport. We have been to the location on the big island many times, love the family that works so hard to prepare the orders and are so friendly and remember the regulars. This was our first time at this location in Maui and as always our first stop from the airport, Sabrina works this location friendly and ready to serve you. There are a variety of malasada on their menu but we always go for the original with sugar sprinkles on. When they come out and handed to you they are hot and soft and really you can't eat just one. I have tried some of the filled Malasadas with the traditional Hawaiian filling and Nutella filling, both are just as good but you just can't beat the traditional. Not sure why they'd call what're basically fried bread Malasadas. We got 3 of them, and all three tasted like Navajo fried bread. In fact, that's what y'all should call your place Maui Fried Bread. For the real thing, you gotta go to Oahu. read more

Maybe I have high expectations of malasadas due to being a Leonards customer for the last decade. These malasadas don't even come close to comparison. For a dozen Manuela Malasadas, it states $25. They also charge you $1.50 to $2 for every single filling so basically 12 filled malasadas is like $50. So not worth the price for some fried dough with watered down filling, that felt like you were eating a grease ball. Will not be coming back. Sorry. Just my honest opinion. read more

The service was awful. The lady who helped me was a total Karen and was just rude to me with a smile. The malasadas are dense and don't have enough filling, and the filling isn't very good. We tried a bunch of flavors and the Nutella was the only good one. Also, it's 25$ for a dozen WITHOUT FILLING and an extra 1$ to 2$ for filling. So the price you see is not the price you pay. We paid so much money for the most disappointing malasadas, definitely not worth the stop. If you've had Leonard's, you know what's good, and this isn't good. read more

The wait is worth it! Parking is tight at this location so you could park over at Costco and walk over easily. Expensive, dry, bland malasada's. Confusing Ai menu and a Karen behind the register. I don't understand why the ratings are so high.

This spot had so many flavors it was hard to choose. We opted for a 12 count for 4 people. We ordered, ube 2x, mango, Ferrero Rocher 2x, banana cream, lilikoi cheesecake, guava, Bavarian cream, dubai chocolate, & PB&J. The lady who took our order was really nice and friendly! I have been a customer of Manuela since when their food truck was located across from Costco. We visited the Kihei location twice this week and they were temporarily closed each time; dough still rising and other excuses. A true waste of time and mileage. Parking was easier at the current location. The previous purchase we made was below expectation too. They did not follow our request for no sugar on top of the malasadas. I found another bakery located down the road at Sugar Beach and they take on-line orders. No more drama. read more

I like plain malasadas so I ordered powdered ones. Sorry to compare, but nothing like Leonard's. Only one was cooked well enough to eat because the other two were doughy/gummy. It's super convenient too -- it's right next to the airport, so whether you just landed or you're heading out, you have to stop by. The service is quick, everything is made to order, and the malasadas come out super fresh, hot, and with the perfect texture. They have SO many flavors -- ube, coconut, pineapple, chocolate, anything you can think of -- and every single one is delicious. Well... A raging rainstorm is apparently the best time to come get Malasadas here, as there was zero line and it only took seven minutes! And... they were stupid delicious. Exactly what I expect out of a malasada. I had the li hing with the lilikoi filling. My child had cinnamon and sugar with Nutella and then we had one plain coated in sugar. The filling was delicious, but I also enjoyed the plain one coated and sugar because it was hot and squishy and fabulous. Wish I had some hot coffee to enjoy with it. We sat in our car right there and power ate them. The only downside was having to drive to a gas station afterward (with an awning) to get out and brush myself off from all the sugar. The reviews are correct. This place is banging. Would I happily wait an hour? Hard no. Hahaha but if you're going to do that, go down the block to Thai Me Up first, and get some cashew chicken and eat that while you wait. A very delicious food truck excursion was had. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I can't resist this time! Sabrina was absolutely LOVELY and helped us a lot with deciding what flavors would taste best (and let us sample a lot!). She was such a pleasure to talk to and you can tell she genuinely cares about the quality of her products and the customers experience. She was attentive and very communicative about the wait times which were reasonable considering they were made to order. We got the lilikoi cheesecake, ube cheesecake, s'mores, cookies and cream, and haupia chocolate fillings. All of them so warm, pillowy, and delicious!!! Will be back. Thank you so so much Sabrina. AMAZING! I had been wanting to try this spot for so long but my time off never seemed to align with their schedule. Very well worth the wait. These had to be the best Malasadas I have ever had. We got the crème'brulee, peach, and cookie butter. All of them knocked it out of the park but if I had to choose one It would be the creme b. Enjoying these immediately is the way to go, but if it takes a few hours and (or a day) to get to them they still hold together wonderfully!! Aside from the malasadas, Sabrina was the sweetest and took great care of both myself and my 2 year old. I'll probably be back once a week now that I've finally got to try this place. read more
