Crispy Pork belly
Elizabeth S.

We took night stroll in Kihei road and Yelp Happy Belly food truck . It's an Asian Fusion Buns and rice and wow the food was amazing. Input your order in their screen and pay at the same time . Very convenient. It isn't too busy since it's almost 8pm. So I got their Pulled pork slider with coleslaw, and sauce very tasty. The bun is soft and toasty on top. The Crispy pork bowl is so crispy not too oily . With rice it blended well , cucumber salad makes it refreshing. I would recommend this place for a night out of Kihei food truck experience. Ambiance ... Hawaiian breeze

Staying in Kihei for the weekend and no plans for dinner yet, except for much needed R & R until we leave the hotel to get food. I checked Yelp and came across Maria's photo of the pork belly plate, that looked so good, then I did research on social media, Yelp photos, reading reviews and I am sold! Happy Belly it is! Not knowing where Happy Belly is located, I just know it is near the hotel, but what a bonus, that HB is located at South Maui Garden, I get to explore South Maui Garden before stopping at Happy Belly! Look for the Yellow Happy Belly Food Truck, I spot it right away on our walk around the premises, I already knew what I wanted to get , if paying by cash you place order at the window and credit cards are the self serve kiosk. Ordering was simple, wait was kind of long for food, due to how popular and busy Happy Belly was on a Saturday night. I wish I could order more but we were still full from late lunch & snacking. Happy Belly is your go to for delicious Asian fusion in Kihei, they have variety of slider buns, bao, noodles and rice bowl, made with the freshest ingredients. Although the panang curry with chicken katsu was on my mind to order too, I have to try this next time since I had chicken cutlet for lunch. I went with the pork belly rice plate (14.95) and lobster fried rice (22.95) . We enjoyed our plates back at our room and the verdict, YUMS., super tasty and our belly was for sure happy! My other half mentioned he enjoyed this meal more vs. where we went for lunch. I loved that pork belly, cooked just right, melts in your mouth so tender and with a nice crisp with fat belly. I loved the cucumber salad, I add the sauce from that on to my rice. The lobster fried rice was also so tasty delish! I have nothing bad to say about our meals, except for I am coming back again even if we don't stay at Wailea, I would ask my hubby to take me back here when we visit Maui again. All in all, 5 stars, made our belly happy and full. Check it out, I know your belly will be happy too!

I love happy belly. And I order form here a few times when I'm In the area. My fav is the pork belly with anything. I love their panang curry. It's not spicy at all but u just get the curry flavor. The food come out bey fast and they put the rice and pork belly separate from The curry sauce if u order it to go. Love this place and highly recommend it. Last tome I had friends visiting and I took them here. It was definitely a HIT!! give them a try. Good food and good people. And also, that butterfly lemonade was So good!! Plenty of tables to eat at if u decide to eat the food there. Last time there was someone who was high on meth acting up so I was not going to wait around. One of mY FAV THAI FOOD TRUCKS IN MAUI

Food was delicious and it's in an outdoor food truck court. Typical ambiance. Prices were decent. Be sure to check out the other side. I was happy with the food as it hit the spot for what I was craving. Workers were nice but I didn't hear them call my name so be sure to check if your food is done. You're sitting outdoors and there may be transients checking the trash for food.

This is one of many food truck options. We only had the pork belly bao bun tacos but they were delicious. The pork belly was flavorful and soft. It had a little crunch with the toppings and spice from the fresh jalapeños (which were spicy). We enjoyed them!

Another trip to Maui and four trips to Happy Belly! We ordered a panoply of dishes over the visit. A most favorite are the Ebi sliders. Fresh, crunchy, tender and great flavor. Panang Curry was tasty. We ordered it with the Deep Fried Pork Belly- crunchy and tasty. Ordered the Deep Fried Pork Belly over rice with a delicious sauce - sweet, salty with a little heat. The last day we ordered the Drunken Udon with Shrimp, Ebi Slider, and the Pork Bao Buns. The two new dishes the Udon was super tasty, with texture and excellent vegetables and shrimp. And the Baos... I had to fight my daughter to get a couple of bites. The pickle vegetables added a brightness. Overall obviously another great set of experiences.

Food was average at best, nothing special. Took so long to come out and it was relatively bland. Probably a better spot in that area you should try.

Garlic noodle was my favorite, with the fried chicken bao being my second favorite. 10/10 would recommend

I decided to try Happy Belly on a whim a couple of months ago as I wanted to try something different. Their Asian fusion menu incorporates Thai, Chinese, local favorites, and more to create an interestingly unique combination of dishes. From bao buns to sliders to udon drunken noodles, there's something for everyone. I have tried a handful of dishes and so far, I have loved every single one. * The pork belly rice bowl is a Thai style, crispy pork belly that is cooked to perfection. The thin coat of flour gives it a nice crispy outer layer and the meat is just so tender and delicious! It comes with a sweet chili sauce that I like to dip the pork in for that extra dose of flavor. * The udon drunken noodle comes with a handful of protein choices. So far I've tried the shrimp and crispy pork belly and both pair very well with the noodles. It's stir fried with veggies and has the perfect amount of spice. * The katsu panang curry is a fusion dish based on the locally loved chicken katsu curry dish. The katsu served over a bed of rice and topped with onions, bell peppers, peas, and carrots. Panang curry sauce is served on the side and is meant to be poured over the whole dish. This dish is the absolute winner here for me! I'm so glad my other half decided to try this dish because I fell in love at first bite. The katsu is perfectly friend and wow, I've never had panang curry before and I don't think I'd want it any other way now. SO GOOD! I can see why this dish is their best seller. No one else does it and I highly recommend it! Their slogan is "happiness is a full belly" and I truly agree. My belly is always happy when I have a meal here! Everything is packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice for me (for those that love spicy, probably want to ask for Thai spicy, haha). Everything seems to be made fresh to order and they give you buzzer while waiting. Don't sleep on this food truck. They're banging out quality dishes at reasonable prices!

Wow. Just wow. Honestly, easily my most favorite take out meal I've EVER had. The freshness of the shrimp, down to the presentation and flavor. Amazing. I'm bummed I only found this truck the last 2 days of my trip. Had I discovered it sooner I probably would've eaten here every day for either lunch or dinner. I definitely had it the last 2 days. Once for dinner, and once for lunch today. I will keep supporting this small business each time I return to the island.

Garlic Noodles w Pork Belly

Happy Belly might have been my favorite meal from my entire trip to Maui - seriously, so good. We ordered the Lobster Fried Rice, Pork Belly Bao, Garlic Noodles with Pork Belly, and the Drunken Udon with Shrimp - and every single dish was a hit. The flavors were bold, perfectly balanced, and packed with umami. The Pork Belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the noodles (both garlic and udon) were absolutely addictive. And that Lobster Fried Rice? Just next level. You can't go wrong with anything from this food truck. This place has such a fun, laid-back vibe, but the food is on definitely up there with the upscale spots. Don't skip it - Happy Belly definitely lives up to the name.

I had Thai-Railway Fried Rice, which has diced, cooked NY steak chunks, in a bed of brown rice, as well as peas, carrots, scallions, Maui onions (yum!), with an egg over easy on top, with toasted onions. I dialed the spicyness at "medium". It was *perfect*! My wife had Pad Thai with chicken, and she left it at the default spicyness (medium), which ended up being too hot for her, but she soldiered on nevertheless enjoying the wonderful flavor. Perhaps because of the noodles and curry, the spiciness of the Pad Thai seemed much stronger than the Thai-Railway fried rice dish. Of course, we had leftovers and I'll probably end up eating hers, and she'll eat mine. The service was prompt, and the girl waiting on the tables was courteous, with a beautiful smile. The restaurant is deceptively roomy, seeming to be smaller from the outside, but once inside, it was quiet, clean, with comfortable chairs, clean tables, and large windows to enjoy some of Kihei's views (like today's gentle rain). As with most things these day on Maui, where everything comes in a shipping container, food costs are very noticable. Our meal, including thai ice tea and a soda, with a coconut ice-cream to finish it was about $44/person. Not cheap, but also not as bad as, say, Tommy Bahamas.

It has become part of our story, and every visit continues to feel just as meaningful and memorable as the first. The setting is absolutely stunning. Between the beautifully designed interior and the outdoor seating overlooking the beach in front of the Four Seasons, it creates one of the most romantic date-night settings on Maui. The food never misses the mark. We started with an English pea soup that was exquisitely seasoned and beautifully balanced. I followed with the Broiled Miso Marinated Walu, tender, delicate, mildly sweet, served with sesame sauce and crisp cucumbers that added the perfect contrast. The rack of lamb was juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly. Dessert was unforgettable: the "Spikey Lemon" calamansi cake with yuzu curd and crunchy meringue, plus freshly baked donuts that arrived crispy, warm, and drenched in a divine chocolate sauce. Pure heaven. But what truly sets Spago apart, and what makes each visit unique, is the front-of-house staff. Over the years we've been lucky enough to be served by both Jeb and Mikayla. Jeb was also our waiter on our wedding night, which made seeing him again feel especially meaningful. He has a rare gift: he makes guests feel genuinely special. His knowledge of the menu is remarkable, he reads the flow of a meal perfectly, and he is charming, funny, and effortlessly attentive without ever being overbearing. What keeps us coming back isn't just the food or the atmosphere. it's the impeccable hospitality. One moment we'll never forget: on our wedding night, after I mentioned I was Austrian, Jeb surprised us with a Kaiserschmarrn. It was unexpected, thoughtful, and one of those gestures that instantly lets you know you're more than just another table. You're valued. Thank you to the front-of-house staff, thank you to the kitchen, and thank you, Wolfgang Puck, for creating a place that has become such an important part of our lives. We'll keep coming back.

Long post: starts with below expectations, and it finishes with highlights…read more We had a highly anticipated dinner last night at Morimoto Maui, and I think that Iron Chef Morimoto would be as disappointed as we were -- if not more so. We opted for the Omakake (Tasting) Menu along with the Wine Pairing for each course. We knew it would be expensive (prices intentionally deleted), but we felt it would be a wonderful experience. We have eaten at Morimoto at Sea on several Holland America Line ships, including our recent cruise on HAL's Nieuw Amsterdam that has a dedicated Morimoto Restaurant mid-ship on deck 11 -- those meals have always been fantastic. Back to last night. Disappointment #1 -- The wine for the first course arrived 5 minutes before Course 1, the Toro Tartare. The wine had lost most of its coolness, and intended flavor and aroma, by time the dish arrived. Disappointment #2 -- The Intermezzo dish, the Sudachi cucumber sorbet was a bit sour. Other intermezzi that I have had were a slightly sweet, perhaps lime or lemon sorbet. AND they typically were paired with a splash of champagne or a sparkling brut (why not include the Morimoto Dream Rosè?) Disappointment #3 -- Course 5, the Surf & Turf, was bad! The very small portion of the Wagyu beef was Medium Well to Well Done and appeared to have been burnt over a flame. When we told our server, his comment was, "That's why I recommended the Japanese A5 Wagyu [at an additional $80 per person!]." Sorry burnt beef if burnt beef, no matter what the price. Training/Expectations seem low: Where do they get their water glasses? On the discount table at Walmart? These two are different styles on the same table; at least our two were the same style, although different from those two. And the dessert spoons -- two different styles given to us. I expect (and I am sure others also do) a much higher standard at this famous Iron Chef restaurant. DELIGHTS: Course 1 - The Toro Tartare was so tasty. We are used to a tartare to be chopped, perhaps even finely chopped, but this one was made into a puree. The toppings (caviar and rice crackers were tasty, and the rice crackers looked like little sweet ice cream toppings. Course 2 - Red Snapper Carpaccio was liked by someone who does not normally like raw fish. The light sauce added a subtle dash of flavor, and we were able to roll the pieces with chop sticks and heat an entire price at once. Course 3 - Lobster Takoyaki. The three "lobster balls" were served warm, and they were very tasty. A large piece of lobster in each roll was a true delight. Course 4 - Sushi. The 5 pieces of nigiri were Chu Toro, Hamachi, Salmon, Campachi, and Big Eye Tuna. There was a light smear of wasabi between the fish and the rice; I had already asked for more (and hotter) wasabi that I mixed with the soy sauce. We brought a few pieces of the sushi back to the condo for a later snack. Course 6 -- the dessert was so-so in my opinion. Sharon liked it, so it was probably just my tastebuds and not the actual dessert. We had planned to go back to Morimoto Maui next week for a special Wagyu and Wine pairing, but based on last night's Wagyu failure, we have cancelled the reservation. I hope that our next dinner at a stateside Morimoto restaurant (probably Morimoto Napa in 4 weeks) is a much better experience for us.

If there is a line, the wait can be lengthy. One day she took my number and texted me when our table was ready (and I killed time at the lobby shops and artisan stands while my husband enjoyed the open air lobby views). The staff are kind, friendly and even offered area activity recommendations. The ocean view is incredible-- it can be enjoyed best on the patio, and from many of the indoor tables. The buffet includes unlimited coffee, tea, juices (love the POG juice), coke products (you can ask for a to go cup on your way out! I recommend asking for ice)-- as well as a made to order omelet. Then there is the entire buffet. As a vegetarian, I had plenty of options. Loved the avocado toast bar-- it was so flavorful! I loved the scones were different flavors each day. I eat eggs, so I sometimes had the scramble, sometimes a veggie omelet (I liked to top it with parmesan cheese from the avocado toast bar). I enjoyed the breakfast potatoes (they changed them up a bit each day), and the variety of salads. They even had a marinaded tofu! The place is kid friendly. There is a parking garage.

Humble Market Kitchen feels like a restaurant that knows it has a captive audience and has stopped trying very hard. The food was uninspired, generic, and significantly overpriced for what was delivered. Nothing was particularly bad, but almost nothing was memorable either. Breakfast was especially underwhelming. Skip the buffet. The eggs were watery and soupy, and the "Hawaiian sausage" turned out to be little more than sliced hot dogs. For a resort of this caliber in a destination known for incredible food, it felt surprisingly low effort. Service was probably the strongest part of the experience, but even that was average at best. I'd call it a 6 out of 10. Friendly enough, but not the level of hospitality you'd expect given the prices and setting. The disconnect is especially noticeable because the Wailea Beach Resort itself is fantastic. We genuinely loved our stay and would absolutely return to the property. That's what makes the restaurant so disappointing. It feels like a business operating inside a great resort rather than an extension of the resort experience. If you're staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and explore the many excellent dining options around Wailea instead. Maui has too many great restaurants to spend your vacation settling for this one.
