Me and my SO decided to eat food from food trucks this month our first stop is Plantation Plates. Service was good they were friendly and quick everyone was busy. Food well we got: Loco Moco: 9/10 per my SO he said it is pretty good not the traditional way but still good. Lau Lau plate: 7/10 it's good but they literally wrapped it way too much! lol more lu'au leaves than meat my throat is itchy now I guess I'm still looking for the best lau lau plate on the Island. We were driving around and came across Costco so we went there to fill gas in our rental car. It was served with 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, toss salad, Kim Chee with 2 good size pieces of Shoyu Chicken. The person taking my order was very nice, helpful and friendly. Told her about my husband's allergy and she asked questions to make sure all that would be in his plate was okay. He enjoyed his food and thought the chicken was very tasty...I tried the chicken and liked it too! My daughter ordered the Kalua Pig plate. This is our new favorite food truck! The food is so good and the prices are amazing. The workers are very friendly. It's located in the food trucks across from Costco. They are open from 10 am to 8 pm every day. There is seating on picnic tables under a large tent. We've tried several plates and they are all good. This time we got the teriyaki chicken and hamburger steak. The chicken is well-marinated and tasty. The hamburger steak comes smothered in mushrooms, onions, and gravy. So ono! I have been eating here since it was the original Kaleis. Now that is has been passed on to I believe the third owners and is now Plantation Plates. I have to say I am very happy with the new owners. The food quality is excellent and the portions are very generous. I also want to say that the flavors are spot on. this is one of the best local food places on the island. The beef stew is one of my favorites. The fish special is also very good. Usually an Ahi. The Hawaiian plate is a winner and the Lau Lau plate you can't go wrong with.i love how they have fixed up the outside to the way it looks now. It used to be very basic but the new owners have really done a nice job with the plant and other decorations. The service is always fast and friendly and the price point is really good for Maui especially with the portions you get. Located in the food truck park across from Costco. We came straight here after landing at Kahului around 11am to satisfy our craving for some local grinds. We had the beef stew, kahlua pig, and lau lau. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the lau lau, which came with a little portion of ahi poke (the poke was a great complement for the lau lau). The pork in the lau lau was melt in your mouth succulent and the taro leaves were perfectly tender. My uncle Miki's (RIP) lau lau has always been our gold standard but I gotta admit this one gives his a run for his money. Ordered the Kalua Pig plate and the LauLau plate and lemme tell you that that was one of the best Kalua pig plates I've had in a damn long time! The liquid smoke that they added (which i despise) was very little, not overpowering which usually deters me from buying a plate in the first place. The pork was really soft and tender from start to finish. The LauLau plate was just as tender and soft as the kalua pig plate. And the price was right too....Nothing but love here that's for sure!!
