Quite possibly one of the most underrated food trucks. Don't sleep on this one folks! AbiKi's is one of the few Caribbean food options on the island and I think the only option in Kihei. They've got that hot and spicy Caribbean flavor infused into dishes like empanadas, nachos, curry and oxtail stew (available on Fridays and Saturdays only), and more. My husband spontaneously ordered the chimichurri burger one day and while I didn't know what to expect at first, man that burger was mighty delicious! The beef patty is topped with chimichurri sauce and paired with lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, cheddar cheese, chimichurri aoili on a brioche bun. It's burger heaven! Flavorful and moist, it was devoured in no time. It also comes with sweet potato fries and a side of sauce. I don't know if the sauce is for the fries or the burger, but it pairs extremely well with both. Just give your burger a little dip -- SO good. I should have ordered the curry chicken, it's something special about Guyanese curry. Instead I ordered the oxtails which for me were to soupy to sweet from the carrots and the tomatoes and added sugar possibly. It looked and tasted more like beef stew. The rice and peas was flakey with a hint of sweetness, for me it was the star of my meal. The sorrel (which is a flower drink similar to hibiscus) Was sweetened nicely it wasn't as thick and rich and gingery as other Caribbean islands would make it but it was refreshing and it was great as a mixer for my rum. I really wanted to 5 star this since food was great and worker was really friendly and professional, however, I couldn't. Reason for downgrade was the fact that she was there by herself and took 35 min to get me my burger, while worth it that day, it wouldn't be acceptable on a day where time was a constraint. Well, sadly I didn't take a picture. I stopped in this past weekend and opted for this truck amongst the crowd. I was a little hesitant because I didn't look up reviews and being so far from the Caribbean was a hint a caution. But let me tell you what, this truck delivered. Abiki was such a kind, generous woman. Her aura was matched by the food. I opted for the special of chicken curry. The chicken included two very large drums, a thigh and several small potatoes. I chose the rice and beans as the side component. The spice was perfectly balanced. Just enough to be present, but not overpowering for a standard guest. I'm obsessed with spice, so it was fortunate that the plate came with a small cup of a fantastic sauce. It seemed to be more habanero driven, but I cannot be too sure of that. The chicken was absolute perfection. The potatoes fell apart as I chewed them and I think I'm going to dream about them for many years. After looking at pictures of their food I really wanted to try their oxtail stew but they only served it on certain days of the week. We were helped by a nice young lady with dark hair. We arrived at the food truck around 6pm and all the plates we were thinking of getting were sold out which was a bummer. We ordered the mixed (veggie and meat) empanada plate which comes with 3 empanadas and sauce. It was so flavorful and juicy I wish my bf and I ordered a plate of our own instead of having to share. The empanadas has a curry flavor and the outer part has a slight crisp and flakiness. We loved this dish and would totally order it again. One thing that bothered us was that when we ordered water bottles the worker was handling food prior to giving me the water and there was oil all over the bottle. I stopped by here this past Sunday night with my wife for dinner. We had seen this grouping of food trucks a couple of days prior and so decided to check it out. As we usually do at a place like this, my wife and I decided to split food from a number of different places. One of those places happened to be Abikis Caribbean Flavors. This food truck happened to be a little food trailer and there was a single lady working it and she was wearing a mask. The first item that I tried to order was the plantain nachos with chicken but the lady working there informed me that she was out of 3 of the main ingredients for it. So I pivoted and instead ordered the chicken meal and chose the pineapple glaze as my sauce for it. Within about 10 minutes or ordering I had my food and was sitting at a table to eat it. My meal consisted of 3 chicken thighs topped with the pineapple glaze on top of a bed of coconut and beans rice with a side salad next to it. I first dug into the side salad which consisted of spinach and tomato and some other lettuce. It was nice to be eating greens and the dressing that came with it was nice. After that I tried the chicken thighs and thought that they were juicy and I loved the pineapple glaze on top of them. While eating those I also tried the rice which was definitely quite dense. I didn't get much coconut flavor from it as I ate it with the beans but my wife said when eaten without the beans that you could taste the coconut. Still it wasn't bad and was guaranteed to help fill you up if you were still hungry after the chicken and salad. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I am sad I was not able to order the plantain chips, what we did order was good and I would like to try more of Abikis food! read more

Hands down the best oxtails I have ever had. I order oxtails whenever I see it on a menu and until now the champ was Puerta Sagua in South Beach Miami but the oxtail stew here is simply spectacular!
