I'd love to say I was ladylike and ate this meal with some degree of restraint, but I cleared the whole plate. It was so good! The coleslaw was refreshing and tangy. The fried plantains were perfectly golden brown with the right balance of sweet and savory. The rice and peas with tofu was divine and deeply appreciated, especially because I don't often see vegetarian Caribbean fare. Finally, the sorrel (hibiscus) drink was a delicious, sweet, and flavorful way to cap off the meal.
Abiki's never disappoints! Especially their fries!!! They also really know how to marinate their chicken and their fish. Definitely a solid spot. The people working there always have the best energy as well.
I should have ordered the curry chicken, it's something special about Guyanese curry. Instead I ordered the oxtails which for me were to soupy to sweet from the carrots and the tomatoes and added sugar possibly. It looked and tasted more like beef stew. The rice and peas was flakey with a hint of sweetness, for me it was the star of my meal. The sorrel (which is a flower drink similar to hibiscus) Was sweetened nicely it wasn't as thick and rich and gingery as other Caribbean islands would make it but it was refreshing and it was great as a mixer for my rum. They were out of the Empanadas and plantain fries I was so disappointed. I would say for sure get you the curry chicken.
Second time giving this food truck a try and this time we were satisfied. Friendly service at the window and they take both cash or card. There are seatings and tables available in the area. It is outdoors so keep in mind the weather if you plan to eat there. We ordered 2 Chimichurri Burgers which were delicious and not overly spicy. Great choice and juicy. We will go back for this again when we have a chance.
I had the Cali-Fiesta salad with Ahi and it was delicious, fresh, the greens were crisp and the mango was ripe and added the perfect sweetness. $19.95 seems pricey, but it was a good value for the portion. The service was quick and friendly. The tables had chicken poop, but put down your napkins and you're fine. Not the food carts issue. Baby chicks running around were adorable.
Fantastic local food truck! My husband and I both got the grilled fish with pineapple sauce. Great portions and prices. The plantains are out of this world. Don't sleep on the cole slaw either- it's excellent. Highly recommend!

Went to AbiKi's again this week and ordered the Chipotle Pork Platter. The food here is delicious. The pork was tender and piled on top of rice and beans with a side of slaw and yummy fried plantains. Every time was cooked and seasoned perfectly! I still plan on going back to try the plantain fries and other menu items. The portions are generous and I made two meals out of this one platter. AbiKi's is my favorite food truck!

Stopped food truck cluster in kihei with the fams. I felt like trying someplace different so I ordered from AbiKi's. I'm pretty glad I did. Worker was friendly, courteous and cheerful despite multitasking since she was alone. I ordered the jerk burger. Something completely different from anything else at the cluster. It was really good. Cooked to prefect wellness (medium), and wonderfully seasoned with the jerk seasoning. Some heat but not too much. Covered with a tropical sauce and salad. Messy but oh so good. Served with fries. I really wanted to 5 star this since food was great and worker was really friendly and professional, however, I couldn't. Reason for downgrade was the fact that she was there by herself and took 35 min to get me my burger, while worth it that day, it wouldn't be acceptable on a day where time was a constraint. I hope that a solo shift there is not the norm because I truly want to upgrade this review.
SO MUCH FLAVOR. We were on the island and in the mood for something fun to eat when we happened to go by the Kihei food truck spot and we ended up here. We had the avocado papaya salad, jerk fries and the rice N Beans. They were all so flavorful. The owner is so nice and walks you through your options. This is a great sport for vegetarians and I seriously envy all the options that meat eaters have. Whatever you do, get the jerk sauce, it packs so much flavor and the rice n beans again, so much flavor. Everything was fresh keeping with the island. Mangos, jerk sauce and fries - my god, they've ruined regular fries for me and I can't possibly fly to Maui just to satisfy that hankering now can I?

We were excited to try a Caribbean cuisine food truck because it is very different than what Maui usually offers. After looking at pictures of their food I really wanted to try their oxtail stew but they only served it on certain days of the week. We were helped by a nice young lady with dark hair. We arrived at the food truck around 6pm and all the plates we were thinking of getting were sold out which was a bummer. We ordered the mixed (veggie and meat) empanada plate which comes with 3 empanadas and sauce. It was so flavorful and juicy I wish my bf and I ordered a plate of our own instead of having to share. The empanadas has a curry flavor and the outer part has a slight crisp and flakiness. We loved this dish and would totally order it again. One thing that bothered us was that when we ordered water bottles the worker was handling food prior to giving me the water and there was oil all over the bottle. Overall I would come back again and I will order my own plate of empanadas because they are too delicious to share!

Quite possibly one of the most underrated food trucks. Don't sleep on this one folks! AbiKi's is one of the few Caribbean food options on the island and I think the only option in Kihei. They've got that hot and spicy Caribbean flavor infused into dishes like empanadas, nachos, curry and oxtail stew (available on Fridays and Saturdays only), and more. My husband spontaneously ordered the chimichurri burger one day and while I didn't know what to expect at first, man that burger was mighty delicious! The beef patty is topped with chimichurri sauce and paired with lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, cheddar cheese, chimichurri aoili on a brioche bun. It's burger heaven! Flavorful and moist, it was devoured in no time. It also comes with sweet potato fries and a side of sauce. I don't know if the sauce is for the fries or the burger, but it pairs extremely well with both. Just give your burger a little dip -- SO good. All in all, this burger ranks pretty highly in my list of tasty burgers. We'll definitely be back again to try their other Carribean dishes! read more

I don't know what they do to the rice and beans but it's really good, chewy, and fragrant even after reheating it in a microwave. Yummy yummy. I had the tamarind shrimp plate which comes with 8 shrimps on a bed rice the rice, coleslaw, and sweet potato fries. The menu stated that it came with a plantains but I got sweet potato fries when I opened the box. The delicious rice made up for it though. We went back the next day for the oxtail stew and it was probably one of the best meals of the whole 12 day trip. So good that we got another order to go for dinner. Kinda disappointed I wasn't able to try the oxtail since it's available on weekends only :( I got the pork ribs plate with tamarind glaze which were not fall off the bone tender but still delicious. The plantain chips were a bit underdone. It also came with rice and beans which was standard, and coleslaw which seemed a bit out of place? The portion was large and while the food was good, I can't say that it was distinctly caribbean. Bf got the fish and chips but the fish isn't fried, though it was nicely cooked and seasoned. Portion seemed a bit small though. Would come back to try the oxtail/curry, but other menu items are a meh. read more

The best burger of my 51 years was their chimichurri burger. It was tender, unique, and so flavorful! Never had another burger like it. I needed several napkins afterwards. It was so good that we went back a second night to get it again. I want to see if I can duplicate it at home now.The cook there is sweet and helpful. She knows what she's doing. read more
I stopped by here this past Sunday night with my wife for dinner. We had seen this grouping of food trucks a couple of days prior and so decided to check it out. As we usually do at a place like this, my wife and I decided to split food from a number of different places. One of those places happened to be Abikis Caribbean Flavors. This food truck happened to be a little food trailer and there was a single lady working it and she was wearing a mask. The first item that I tried to order was the plantain nachos with chicken but the lady working there informed me that she was out of 3 of the main ingredients for it. So I pivoted and instead ordered the chicken meal and chose the pineapple glaze as my sauce for it. Within about 10 minutes or ordering I had my food and was sitting at a table to eat it. My meal consisted of 3 chicken thighs topped with the pineapple glaze on top of a bed of coconut and beans rice with a side salad next to it. I first dug into the side salad which consisted of spinach and tomato and some other lettuce. It was nice to be eating greens and the dressing that came with it was nice. After that I tried the chicken thighs and thought that they were juicy and I loved the pineapple glaze on top of them. While eating those I also tried the rice which was definitely quite dense. I didn't get much coconut flavor from it as I ate it with the beans but my wife said when eaten without the beans that you could taste the coconut. Still it wasn't bad and was guaranteed to help fill you up if you were still hungry after the chicken and salad. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I am sad I was not able to order the plantain chips, what we did order was good and I would like to try more of Abikis food! read more

I am so happy this food stop opened up. Maui struggles when it comes to food variety and this Caribbean flavor is what we needed! So I ordered the plantain nachos and let me tell you, the flavor was out of this world! The chicken was super juicy and flavorful, the plantains has just enough salt and we're crispy, and the toppings worked so well together. I also got a small plate of the curry chicken and it blew me away. Such an amazing balance of spices. If you are reading this, don't hesitate and give them a try. 4.2/ food trucks galore in a little parking lot in Kihei! AbiKi's is delicious, flavorful, juicy, and filling. We sampled the spicy shrimp platter, the chicken with pineapple sauce, and the jerk burger with sweet potato fries. The man working the truck was really friendly and patient when answering our questions. The shrimp was dressed with a peppery, layered spicy sauce and came with rice and beans, coleslaw, and fried plantains. The chicken platter came with the same assortment of sides and the chicken was very juicy though the pineapple sauce was a little sweet to my taste. The burger was excellent and had wonderful seasoning. Would recommend this place for a nice and inexpensive meal! read more

Ordered online & it was ready on time. We ordered the chimichurri burger with no onions & our side was sweet potato fries. The burger was yummy, the fries were salty & crispy, cooked perfectly in my opinion. The dipping sauce that comes with the fries was really good!almost questioned if the burger was beef because it had a weird texture but none the less it tasted good! read more

Amazing chicken curry and oxtail stew specials on Friday and Saturday only. One bite of each had me thinking I was on an island in the Carribean rather than in Maui. I'd drive to Kihei every weekend just to get these two things. read more
