Ono Mexican food just steps away from our vacation condo? Yes, please! Found this place on Yelp. Where else? My husband phoned the order in, and the worker was super friendly and helpful. They don't serve chips and salsa, but they include two types of salsa with the birria tacos and the torta we found out. Beware, the red salsa is FIRE hot but delicious! I got the birria torta and the flavors were outstanding. The only word I could think to describe it? Juicy! So tasty! I am picky about steak/carne asada, but I took the chance on the steak and tostones and it was the best meal I've had on Maui. Steak was delicious and the tostones were perfectly crispy. It tasted so good that it didn't need anything else, but the chimichurri was great so I topped it with that anyway. My wife got the birria torta and was in heaven as well. She didn't touch the green sauce on the side because her sandwich was perfection, but I did sneak a taste at the end and it was also exquisite. I didn't catch his name, but the guy working was super nice and hustling in the kitchen all on his own. Stopped by here for dinner before leaving Maui. I ordered 3 vegetarian tacos and the tostones. The tacos were some of the best tacos I've ever had. They were simple but delicious, especially with the spicy red sauce (I love spicy food). The tostones were crispy, fresh, and also great. It's a little out of the way, around the corner in the parking lot next to the old wave machine. They have a cute little dining area inside the chain link fence with a few picnic tables. It's shaded and has lights at night, which is a big plus. They have a ton of birria on their menu (tacos, quesadillas...) as well elote in a cup, empanadas, and more. The one strange thing is that they currently don't have prices listed, but I didn't let that stop me from ordering. I got the birria quesadilla, which turned out to be delicious and HUGE! It was around $17, which seemed very fair for the size. My husband was incredibly jealous after trying a bite, as my food was much tastier than his, and I have enough leftovers for an entire second meal. Joey & his wife were super friendly & shared his family background that led to the cuisine mix. The birria tacos were amazing. Everything you want: crunchy tortilla, tender meat, right amount of cheese & the consume broth was on point. The corn in a cup was sweet & full of flavor. I even got a jarrito de mandarina. We live on Maui and this is our go to spot for the best tacos ever! Anything with birria is amazing! Joey the owner is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and you can tell he knows what he's doing with the quality and consistency he continues to serve every time we visit. His food truck backs up to south Maui gardens and has a nice little shaded place to sit and enjoy your food. Both salsas are delicious, but the red one has some definite heat to it. Hands down best mexican food I've had in Kihei, maybe anywhere, and I've been to Mexico! The guy taking orders and making the food was super nice and the service was rather quick. I got a steak quesadilla and it was gigantic. The tortilla was crispy, the cheese was melty, and the steak was perfect. This spot was the first food truck I saw when I pulled up to this little food truck park. We passed by it and then went to look at all the other trucks. All of the other places had lines and were very common typical food spots you could get about anywhere. We circled back and decided to come here, boy was I glad. This Birria quesadilla is the best quesadilla I've ever had. I asked the owner what the best thing to get on the menu was and he immediately said anything with Birria in it without hesitation. The owner is incredibly friendly and just tasting the food the chef puts his heart and soul in his cooking. Unfortunately, my phone did not eat first... but my plate sure was happy. This food truck was some of the best food I had in Maui. I am well traveled across Mexico and Puerto Rico so I feel like I have lots to compare to. My husband and I ordered a burrito without guacamole, birria tacos with rice and refried beans, and an empanada. The burrito legit weighed 10lbs. The owner was so friendly and patient. He said the order took a little Longer because when he made the burrito for me he forgot and added guacamole, so he remade a brand new one which I appreciated SOOOO much. The burrito was perfectly spicy, perfectly salted, perfectly cilantro-y, and just really delicious. It came with green salsa on the side...also very good. The empanada was hot and perfectly crispy. It came with chimichurri...also delicious. The birria tacos were also very good. Sometimes birria tacos/the consume can be too cinnamon-y for me, but these were not and so I really appreciated that too. Customer service was really great.
