crunchy CRISPY PORK BELLY LOCO MOCO

BEST MEAL we've had on the island! Our group randomly stopped by and ordered the crunchy moco and that was truly the best decision we made the entire trip. The crunchy moco is made with a really delicious garlic rice and extra crispy pork belly. Definitely a creative twist on loco moco that makes it so much better! We also tried their spicy garlic shrimp, which is fried in a light batter and a delightful dish.

    Shrimp chow fun

Noodles are important in many cuisines around the world, for good reason: they're comforting, satisfying, easy to prepare (whether simple or fancy), and delicious. A favorite local noodle dish, chow fun, is one of my "barometer" items to order the first time I go to a place, because how well they make it can be a good indicator of their food quality overall. So when I was near Da Soriano Grindz at lunchtime the other day, I had to try their shrimp chow fun. It did not disappoint: noodles cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful shrimp and veggies, and a mouth watering sauce to complete the dish. It was one of those dishes you almost can't stop eating, but you kinda hate to finish it because then you won't have any more....till next time, that is! Their menu features a wide range of Filipino specialties as well as local faves. Service is prompt and friendly. There's a shaded seating area with plenty of space if you want to eat there, or you can take your treats to go. This small food truck pod can be easy to miss but you should definitely check it out.

Originally based in Lahaina, Da Soriano Grindz relocated to Wailuku after the fires, then moved to Kahului at the Da Tambayan Corner food truck lot, which they proudly own and operate. They are one of my go-to spots at the food truck lot which has a variety of other options. Specializing in Filipino and local-style comfort food, their menu has plenty to choose from--and so far, everything I've tried has been pretty solid. If you have decision fatigue and can't decide, you can build your own grindz and pick two starches and two entrees of your choice. My personal favorite plate lunch? The marinated calamansi pork belly plate which comes with diced onions and tomatoes (a must!). It's perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with that zesty-salty-sweet flavor combo that keeps me coming back for more. I've also tried their garlic shrimp plate, which my son enjoyed (always a good sign), and the salmon dynamite, which truly hit the spot. It's a great option when you're in the mood for fish. Generous portions, flavorful sauces, and mac salad round out each plate. The food is consistently tasty, and the staff is friendly, which makes for a good experience during my visits. Whether you're already a fan of Filipino flavors or just looking to try something new, I'd definitely recommend giving Da Soriano Grindz a try.

Had the most amazing Filipino food. This is one of the best garlic fried shrimp I've ever had.

Had the most amazing Pilipino food at a local food truck stop. This was the most unique flavored fried garlic shrimp I've ever had! It's a must try.

We wanted to see if there was any Filipino food in Maui and this popped up in our search. We got the Adobo fried rice, pancit, and kare kare. Nothing out of the ordinary. No complaints! Food was good. Fairly priced. This is a food truck btw, and is parked with other food trucks that make this food hall area. very spacious for groups and families.

Glad to have a chance to visit their new spot in Kahului! Miss them on the westside but glad they're open again. This might be my favorite food truck park to date. It definitely has a vibe. Pic doesn't do it justice, it was way too sunny. But there are hanging flowers, table decorations and a selfie wall. Great spot! Parking can be tough if it's busy but definitely worth a stop in. Lots of shade in the seating area.

As someone who is married to a Filipino, proud of the Filipino food I can make, and have had authentic Filipino food from family and the Philippines.... I can say... I never knew adobo could be that good. That was outstanding. The pancit was also great and our toddler ate it up. I did not care for the pork belly calamansi, but I look forward to going back and enjoying more items from their menu. We got this on our way to the airport on our way out. We are going back in a year and I think we will go here first (after our Costco trip of course!)

I finally got my partner to try Da Soriano Grindz... and he ended up going every single day until I told him to stop! That's how good it is! The food is packed with flavor, super satisfying, and honestly hard to resist once you get a taste. We'll definitely be seeing them regularly, maybe monthly, or let's be real... probably weekly! Highly recommend if you haven't tried them yet.

Compared to other food in Maui like Da Kitchen or Tin Roof, this place is way better... I'll give it a 5 star given Maui's tame food scene - half pancit and half salad is must get. it gives the plate a well-rounded balance! - Kalbi has good flavor. Tasted fresh. - Garlic shrimp is non-traditional (it's lightly battered and deep fried fyi), but it was still good. - mochiko chicken. Was decent, not freshly fried - calamansi pork. Flavor wise was decent. But just know that this is sautéed pork belly slices, - it is not roasted or crispy pork. It's soft, not crunchy.

My plate with garlic shrimp, tortang talong, mac salad and green salad
    Kanani T.

Craving satisfied! I'd been wanting tortang talong but not wanting to make it myself lol. They have so many delicious options for plate entree choices. They're so nice and accommodating too! With my rice allergy, I'm always looking for places that have side dish options. I was able to get my plate with mac salad and a great green salad that came with so much jazz on top! I opted for the tortang talong and garlic shrimp and they were both so delicious! Perfectly cooked & seasoned nicely. They even offer a Kama'aina special on Tuesdays (please don't inquire about this special unless you are in fact local). They serve up food quickly and this food truck pod has a great covered seating area for you to enjoy your food! Don't forget to grab a halo halo for dessert!

If you're looking for ono Filipino food with a Hawaiian twist, this food truck is the place to be. Without a doubt, this was the best meal I had on Maui; and for an island offering hundreds of delicious options, that's saying something! I love how creative and varied the menu is. They have some set plate lunches, but you can build your own plate and really customize your order. Highly recommend everything we tried: chicharon kare kare (set menu item), ahi katsu (special menu item), and a side of the garlic butter shrimp. Both plate lunches came with rice and a delicious mac salad. We wanted to order the chicharon bulaklak, but they were out of stock the week I visited which was a bit disappointing. Overall the food was a bit pricy, but the delicious taste and quality made it absolutely worth the money. Located in Da Tambay Corner (Filipino for "the hangout corner"), the cutest food truck park with a lot of other delicious looking options I wish we had space in our bellies to try. Despite the Filipino name, the park is not exclusively for Filipino food- the other trucks offer cuisines from other cultures. It's smaller than other local food truck parks but very aesthetically pleasing. Really enjoyed my time here; it feels really nice to see Filipino representation when I'm not used to seeing much where I live on the mainland. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 5/5 - Service: 5/5

    Katsu plate
    Peter C.

What a gem of a spot in a local food truck area! My wife was craving katsu and Da Soriano Grindz did not disappoint. The katsu is super crispy and dark meat makes it really juicy. Mac salad is ok, I had to add black pepper to give it some flavor. I'd try another side next time. The pancit is super good and tastes like my wife's family made it. They even include a slice of calmansi to squeeze on it so you know it's legit. The roast pork is the star of the show, and it is slow smoked to perfection. The pork is still juicy and the skin is very crispy. The garlic shrimp was ok, and I like that it was peeled. I'd try another protein next time. This is a spot I look forward to coming back to the next time I am in Maui!

Food 5/5!! If your cruise ship docks at Maui for the day and you don't have an excursion, walk from Kahului Cruise Port to the food trucks at 70 Lono Ave, and enjoy Filipino & local food at Da Soriano Grinds (DSG). About 10min walk from the Maui Mall Village, 20min walk from the cruise port.

I loved the decor--so vibrant and colorful, and just a really fun, welcoming place to eat. Now, onto the food. We ordered the crispy pata, which is a fried pork hock that they chop up for you. It came with pickled vegetables, a vinegary dipping sauce, and two scoops of rice. The acidity from the pickles and sauce complemented the rich, greasy pork perfectly--it cut through the heaviness so well that instead of feeling overwhelmed, it honestly made me want to keep eating more. The crispy pata itself was excellent: super crispy skin on the outside, with soft, tender meat inside. The meat on its own wasn't heavily seasoned, so the sauce really did the heavy lifting, but together it worked beautifully. We also ordered the garlic noodles, which were bright green and immediately caught our attention--of course we had to try them. And wow. They were delicious. The garlic was incredibly fragrant, and the noodles were cooked perfectly--not mushy, not underdone. Fair warning: this dish is very oily, but absolutely worth the calories. Service was great as well. Our waiter was very attentive and kept refilling our water without us having to ask. Overall, this was a great experience all around. Highly recommend, would definitely come back, and it's absolutely deserving of 5 stars.

His most recent venture that has been renamed Joey's Kitchen Kahului Balai Pata showcases his Filipino heritage. It may be what we ordered, but the food is definitely heavier than what you would get at his former Macadangdang.

The parking lot was almost full but we managed to find a spot by the front door. Upon entering the store, the grocery section is to the left with a good selection of Filipino food & a produce section. To the right is the take out line & a few tables if you want to dine in. The line was pretty long but it moved fast. There are several friendly ladies behind the counter that quickly served up your plate. Most of the entrees had signs on them. They have such a nice spread to choose from. Prices are reasonable & they don't skimp on the quantity. I had a 2-entree plate for $15.99. 1 entree is $10.99, 3-entree is $19.99. All plates come with rice or pancit, or you can do half & half. I got the half & half with pork adobo & teriyaki chicken. The plate was yummy The pancit had 2 different noodles, the clear & the regular pancit noodles. There was an ample amount of veggies and shiitake mushrooms. The pork adobo had good flavor & well seasoned. Not too many fatty pieces & very tender. It didn't have as much as a vinergry taste but still was good. The teriyaki chicken was well flavored with a little sweetness, not overly dry, tasty as well. There was so much food, it's definitely a shareable plate or leftovers for a couple of days. They also have several soups & the entrees can be purchased a la carte. Overall, this place is worth going to. Don't let the long line fool you. This is a place to get some delicious Filipino food at reasonable prices, plates full of food, friendly & quick service. Support local @

Wow. My husband missed out as he waited in the car, he could have grab all his favorites Filipino goods! I looked around and browsed the grocery products before I get to the hot food/take out selection as I know I will be buying me some foods. What I like about Paradise Supermart is the items are organized, there are tons of products. What I don't like is most items has no prices or sign, even the produce. It will have to be a surprise or ask at the register. The prices are on high side but hey we need Filipino goods no matter the cost. The huge bag of wing bean caught my eyes, never seen them grown so huge before, no prices, when I ask the staff, it was $6.99! Pricey, on Oahu they cost $2-$3 per bag. The hot food selection, wow! This is my favorites! So many selections to choose from and even desserts galore! I got the 1 entree plate to try $9.99, for 2 items = $14.99, the difference in entree choices is $5. kinda steep. I wanted to try the chicken adobo and noodles. If the food is good, I would be back for my Filipino fix on Maui. Also got banana lumpia and a huge piece of the fried pork belly. We ate the food that night when we got back to Oahu and the verdict, chicken thighs were used which chicken wasn't tender, more hard to chew. I never tried adobo in thighs before & missing the adobo sauce, I like to add that to my rice. The noodles were good, I like that it comes with mix of canton and bihon noodles, just how my in-laws would make it. The fried roast pork, I loved! I will be back for more of this fried crispy goodness, I chopped the pork in to pieces and saved in freezer to use in my Sari Sari soup or add to ramen noodles. All in all, despite the chicken adobo, Paradise Supermart is a great place for all your Filipino goods, sweets, grocery stop, here on Maui!! & Oh., BTW if you wanted to enjoy the Filipino foods right away, there are few tables too .

BEST FILIPINO FOOD ON THE ISLAND!…read more During my 1 week stay at Maui I probably came here about 5 times. I went here right after getting off the airport to get some quick comfort food before checking in to my stay in Kīhei and Tagpuan happened to be on the way. I ordered the chicken Inasal and pork lumpia and from those two simple dishes I could tell that this place was legit. IMO that inasal's definitely better than Mang Inasal back in PI and much better than the Inasal I've had in the Bay Area so hopefully that hypes it up enough. Kept coming back almost every single day till I left to go back to the mainland. In that time I also had the grilled liempo (pork belly), crispy pork belly, and longanisa sliders - all excellent dishes. Really love the sauce selections they use for their dishes too - pretty good balance of acid to cut the fat making the dishes feel not too heavy. The food truck is currently nestled in what seems to be an auto shop lot. There's a nice clean bathroom access via the auto shop near the food truck itself. Lots of parking, a few benches to eat at, and of course, really good food. The couple that run Tagpuan are incredibly kind and hard working people. It is a bit spicy so just be aware. So worth it. Lots of flavor and plenty poke to chip ratio. We also ordered the chicken Inasal since our kid would eat it. She's picky but ate plenty chicken. It has a very nice charred smoky flavor and still super tender and moist. We need to try the other items for sure so we will 100% be back. We got to meet the owners Rocky and Maine? Their menu rotates throughout the week, but you can follow them on social media for the latest info on their menu and their opening hours. Lastly, I believe the parking next to the building will be going away soon, but the Wailuku parking garage is now open and is right behind this building, making it easily accessible. The first two hours are free. All in all, highly recommend T-Ann-J!
