I loveee Leekam , especially since its hard to find good food upcountry. Outdoor seating (not alot) I usually take my food to go. Uncles service is the best and foods always bomb! Go right nowww #supportlocal

Ohhhh Leekam... where u stay??? Your schedule is so limited and not conducive to my Maui visiting schedule. I was lucky enough to catch him up at Kulamalu food truck park by Longs... I asked the cashier in Longs who I should try first and without skipping a beat she named Leekam. I listened and walked over to place my order. I was small kine confused because everything kinda look the same. And is. Just slightly different. That is genius Chineeee marketing skills! I wanted the Mochiko Chicken plate but he was all out... it's the local favorite. So I ordered the Katsu Typhoon. Not gonna lie. I have an iron stomach but when you name something Typhoon, I was kinda worried. He makes it to order so the lady in front of me was waiting longtime and she had four plates! Hmmmnnnn he must be worth waiting for...?! I placed my order and got to talking with him. I told him I grew up Maui but live O'ahu and he kinda perked up! He's from Kaneohe side... Kokokahi like my family! Damn I love these little connections... also learned he worked at Seabury Hall's kitchen and then opened his food truck. Grandkids keep him busy this the limited hours and schedule... Awww a family man! Gotta respect that. Ok, food review time. Was 'ono. Plain and simple. I felt like a construction worker eating my way through this plate lunch. The serving size is generous and loving. I feel the love that went into squirting the sauces ontop the katsu... artful! Mix 'um up... no be shame... put everything in 'um! Go for broke (that's what is should be named). Leekam... keep up the awesome cooking and just know the community needs more of you!

Located in the Upcountry lot by Longs Kulamalu. There are several trucks up there, but this one satisfies all your local plate lunch needs. I've been following them on Instagram for a while, so during my most recent trip up there, I made it a mission to stop. We were quickly greeted by the very nice owner & told us to let him know of we had any questions. So many plate lunch options but the one that caught my eye was the Kilauea mochiko. I remembered seeing it on IG, so I was sold. The person with me went with the 2x2x2 loco moco. Didn't wait long till our food was ready. I guess it had been a while since I had been up there as now there are quite a few tables to sit & enjoy your food. Opened mine up to find my chicken over crinkle fries!!! Yessss, I couldn't have been more excited as it said that plates come with rice & mac which I didn't want so it was a nice surprise. The sauce over it was so yummy, a kochujang aioli similar to sriracha mayo but on the little sweeter side, just enough to balance the sweet of the chicken. There was enough sauce over it to enjoy the fries dipped in it too. Chicken was so crisp & still soft on the inside. The loco moco was just as yummy. Perfect ratio of everything, hence the 2x2x2. Meat was very flavorful with the egg cooked perfectly. Leekam, I've been having cravings! Will have to make another trip up there soon!

Leekam lunchwagon is a true gem, nestled upcountry at longs. Best local food, and ALWAYS quality since it's the owner makes each and every plate himself. Got a combo plate, hurricane katsu and ahi katsu. Hit the spot. Loco moco and katsu curry are also favorites of mine. Go visit him, you won't regret it!

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

The spam brussel sprouts were amazing and such a fun, unexpected combo. Our absolute favorites were the ahi bao and the pork tots, both were standout, crave worthy dishes. We visited last May, so some of the items were seasonal, which just makes it even more exciting to go back and see what's new. Great service, great vibes, and really creative food. If you see this truck, do not skip it.

Well no bad guys ever showed up, and the hucksterism was pretty low key. The excitement was not to be had either but it was obvious that these trucks are feeding a lot of people. If they were only able to lower their prices even a little they could be feeding even more but I guess their overhead is probably pretty high even for a parked truck. Anyway I was expecting a bit lower price scale, but it is what it is. So .. For fifteen bucks plus tax and tips I got the seared salmon. The fish was nicely cooked, I enjoyed it. The vegetables were pretty meh but did help bring more of the sauce to the palate. Yes, the sauce was good, right on the verge of too much soy, but they did a good job keeping it balanced. The salmon portion size was small, but not insultingly tiny. Could have been a bit larger for the $15, the value is not there only if you compare to what you make at home, otherwise it's probably disappointedly normal. When you get your six inch diameter bowl you will see what I mean. The heap of rice made for good entertainment feeding the chickens. You're discouraged from feeding them so I just sat the bowl down behind the coffee guys trailer and watched them pig out. It is not exactly "Fast" food here, they are actually cooking the meal while you wait. I had my order in 12 minutes though, exactly how long she said it would take.

Not like a garden you walk through with different plants and flowers. They have lots of things, though. There was a yoga session happening in the middle lawn area. They have a butterfly area, even though the butterflies were somewhere else. There is an aging tortoise, I forget his name. There are also different businesses in the buildings, like a spa and a salon. There are different small vendors with their booths and several food trucks; although, some were not open in the morning and the Thai food truck had all their items sold out on their menu already. The prices were even more pricier than the food trucks at Maui Food Trucks. One vendor had hand crafted desserts for $20/piece! I admired from afar, haha. Everything is advertised as "farm to table" maybe justifying their prices. We shared an acai bowl and it was mid. The the peanut butter was just scraped on the side of the bowl. Our typical acai bowls at least put the peanut/almond butter in the middle like any other topping so you can get an even bite with everything. But the dallop of peanut butter just on the side, it was like we ordered peanut butter on the side of our acai bowl. It was weird. I bet it's more alive at night with more food trucks open and live music. We came and saw and didn't come back. I can see how it can be great for families with toddlers running around, giving them a safe space to burn their energy. Until then, this probably won't be the top of our list.
