    Loco moco
    Lam B.

Amidst the nearby food trucks, we were pulled in by their relatively cheaper loco moco. Thankfully we made in time at 4:30PM as their last order. Their times appeared variable as they closed the kitchen when they ran out of ingredients. The owner talked to us tersely and kept saying that he couldn't hear us and that he only had so much food left that he could give us. This was reflected in their lack of mac salad which was replaced by salad and corn. Food took about 15 minutes to complete and we took claim to a nearby picnic table while we waited. =ORDERED= They also had a small selection of condiments near the front of the truck. Sriracha, soy sauce and mustard were amongst the few. *Loco Moco: two patties and two eggs on a bed of rice coated in gravy. The patties were more well done than preferred but they were still hearty. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were buttery. Beautifully golden and gooey. The rice was on the softer side with I preferred. Gravy was average and mild tasting. Overall the loco moco was on par if not better than the other ones in the area. Notably the price was cheaper so I would stop by here if they're open. Customer service could use some work but at least the food quality was good.

I have been waiting to review this place. I probably ate at 10 food trucks on Maui and Oahu on my trip and Joel's was hands down the best truck I visited. I hadn't read a review- no cell service and I was just hungry and they happened to be open. What a lucky coincidence! Here's what I had: Loco moco- best I had and I tried this dish at 4 different food trucks. Hands down, this dish melted my knees! Rice prepared perfect, that gravy-ohhh that gravy. The beef patty was seasoned to perfection! 5 of 5 stars! Garlic shrimp and steak- I expected good shrimp but what I got what next level flavor! Ever eat something and a little tear comes out of the corner of your eye because it's so good? Well call me a cry baby because this dish had me in happy tears. Visit this truck and enjoy my friends!

I absolutely LOVE food trucks, and as my first real dinner in Maui, I was very pleased with Joel's! Located in a small food truck stop area in Hana, Joel's was one of the options to choose from, and it features beef, chicken, and shrimp. I ordered the beef teriyaki and garlic chili shrimp combo and went to go sit at one of the tables in the middle (might want to bring your own sanitizer or more napkins since other folks eat there with nobody really cleaning those tables). The food was fantastic. The beef teriyaki was quite sweet, and the shrimp was a little more chili-forward than garlic, but what really got me were the sides. Enough rice to pair with the meats (way better than just a scoop or two like other places), addicting corn with hella butter, and some of the best mac salad I have had. The portions were pretty nice, and I ended up taking a little bit back to the hotel to eat later. Overall very convenient being in Hana, a great and filling meal, and a nice way to kick off my stay in Maui!

Stopped by here while we were In Hana. It was the only food truck open at the time we were there. So we decided to go for it. Super nice and kind staff members. We ordered the garlic shrimp platter and the classic loco moco. The garlic shrimp was good, very fresh shrimp and cooked perfectly. Lots of flavor too. There was something about the white rice it was on too, I just kept eating! It was our first time having the loco moco. My husband enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm usually not a fan of gravy so I didn't have much of it. But it tasted pretty good in my opinoin. Great place to get plate lunch if you're in Hana!

Well, Braddah's / Huli Huli were both closed. Pranee's reviews on mosquitos scared me, so...here we are. A-Ok! Pros: Korean Chicken Friendly service Cons: Beef teriyaki Overall, too salty for me. I prefer light on the salt and sauces. I did a half/half, but you're better off with the Korean Chicken. $10-$13 if I recall. Nothing special here. Checked off my list and done.

Shrimp @ Teri beef combo! Absolutely delicious.

Ate here a couple times & both times it was delicious. The portions always leave me with some leftovers. The food always has great flavor.

Chow's is one of the few food trucks located off the Road to Hana. I decided to stop here because there aren't very many food places. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate which came with rice, corn, and macaroni salad. Nothing really stood out. There wasn't enough garlic in the shrimp. This is probably because I've had Giovanni's in Oahu and Geste in Maui. Staff is very friendly. I'd only possibly come back when I'm driving the Road to Hana.

I gave Joel's a 4 star rating. Reason is, is because they do not have Thier own tent and set of tables and chairs. We had to sit in front of another food truck. BUT!!! I must say the Korean chicken is the best Korean chicken I ever ate on Maui! Yes these guys are only located in Hana but this plate will make me want to to go back plus visit family. The Garlic Shrimp was little bit on the sweet side but the spicy was good. If it weren't sweet then I think I'd eat it again cause that garlicky buttery oil on the rice would be bomb!! Roast Pork was very good and tender. I love it when the fat edges was a little bit fried or crisp. Gave it the home cooking look. Worth our drive and what is locals call, kanak attack!

    Dat Korean Chicken gooood good.

My new year was spent in Hana camping, and if you know anything about me you know I'm not well versed in the realms of roughing it. Sooo naturally I didn't pack nearly enough food. Chow's was the one place that totally saved my butt, being that finding places to eat in Hana on a budget can be extremely unpredictable. One morning my man and I split a Loco Moco, and holy ono it was. Dare I even say the b e s t we have ever had?? On our last night in Hana we were sure to stop at Chow's before they closed at 4pm. I ordered the Korean Chicken (HELLA BOMB) with my man ordering his go-to Teri Beef Plate. What really wowed me about Chow's, besides the incredible food, was their customer service. The young man and woman running the truck were so sweet. They chatted with us and asked all about our traveling adventures. But what put them over the fricken top, was that a couple came flying into the parking lot (after 4) in dire search of food. Being my nosey self, I obviously listened in . The two working in the food truck were more than happy to serve this couple, despite the fact that they had closed 15 minutes prior. THAT, people, is the definition of aloha. They didn't make the people feel as if they were an inconvenience at all, they were more than happy to accommodate. We need more Chow's in our lives. Thank you, for setting a standard for other food trucks & restaurants! We appreciate you.

Price is reasonable. Portion is quite big. We ordered Loco Moco. The made the food by order, so it was fresh. Loco moco was $10 per plate. We brought it to Pipiwai Trail head and ate there as our lunch. It was still pretty warm when we got there. Taste was good

After a half day in the car driving through Hana Highway, we were all quite hungry. Honestly, we found Chow Wagon by accident since we originally wanted to get local organic fruits from the fruit stand in front of Chow Wagon. After asking the workers at the fruit stand on where to have lunch, they recommended Chow Wagon, which was conveniently located behind them. This place is a mom and pop shop food truck making yummy food. The hubby and I had the two catch of the day specials, sauteed Ono and Mahi-Mahi with the lemon caper sauce! Both were delicious although the ono was a bit overcooked. The plate came with 2 scoops of rice, a choice of macaroni or tossed salad, and corn. The godfather resorted for the cheeseburger, and he said that it was quite good too. Please note that the godfather likes everything! Note that you can call in your order if you're in a rush. After lunch, our dessert was the fresh fruit from the fruit stand, so it was a memorable lunch in Hana. If you're in this part of paradise and you see a Chevron station, don't blink since you'll probably miss it. Check it out!

Pics are from a year ago on our trip to Maui. So good that I remember it today. This man cooks like my mom who grew up from Hawaii cooks. It was nostalgic. Chow is super friendly and man is his food tasty. I remember that Korean fried chicken and loco moco like it was yesterday. The food was savory and a reward for the long drive to Hana.

Be sure to watch for the sign as you approach - we drove by the first time and came back to make it into the parking lot. The person taking orders was helpful and warned us right away that they were out of curry. The person who makes it measures from her heart, won't share her recipe, and was out shopping. We shared the fried rice with chicken and some spring rolls. It was all so delicious, and fun to sit on the deck and watch the road and town while relaxing after the crazy road. My real praise starts a couple hours later. As we made it to our next stop, I remember that I had never taken my bag off the back of the chair back at the restaurant! I called as soon as we had a phone signal again, and the gentleman who answered the phone assured me right away that he'd seen it and was keeping it safe. I told him we'd be back for it the next day, and he told me what time he'd be there. Luckily for me, hubs drove back alone the next day (he loves the road, and it's more fun for him without me panicking from the passenger seat). The man at the restaurant said he'd tried to get our attention as we left, and again when we drove by after visiting the shore! I was so grateful to have my stuff back, and be able to board our plane the next day with my id. P.S. - the food and service was 5 stars even if they hadn't helped with my mix up later!
