I know every place and person will claim they have the best recipe out there, but this was actually so delicious! The texture was moist and fluffy, and the banana flavor was perfect without being too sweet. I had a whole loaf by myself traveling along the Road to Hana without even realizing it! And for it to be nut-free and sugar-free was really impressive to me. While here, I also grabbed a mango smoothie, which wasn't too special - though it wasn't mango season, so I don't blame them - and a couple of Island Dream Bars. If you're an Almond Joy fan, then I highly recommend the Island Dream Bar; it felt like a homemade, better version of an Almond Joy with macadamia nuts, coconut flakes, and chocolate baked into a cookie bar.

The ladies are quite nice, recommended the ginger chew candy and even refill my water bottle. Yup, I was one of those who got the motion sickness. The store offers variety of snacks. We bought their famous banana bread which by the way is by far the best banana bread I ever had. Very moist, it's that good. I mean it's on the sweeter side but that's expected. And it's pricey, also expected. We bought 2 to take home. Put it in the fridge in our hotel room then brought it home. It lasted about 1 week as long as it's in the fridge. Highly recommended for a quick stop on your way to Hana town. Tip: No public restroom here.

Once you reach this stop on your Road to Hana tour, make sure you get one ($10). The loaf is served warm, and man, it is good. You can't, or aren't supposed to, eat it there since there is a sign saying this place is grab-and-go only, so we ate it in the car on our way to the next stop. Between the two of us, it was basically more than half gone. It is not too sweet (in a good way), airy, light, and just really good homemade banana bread. The cashier was really nice and service was really fast. Since it is on the peninsula, the drive is also beautiful with waves crashing into the rocks.

Good range of flavors with lilikoi, chocolate, etc, even a mystery flave!! It is deliciously creamy and you can mix flavours in your cup. You can have a freshly picked coconut opened in front of you island style with a machete. Feel like coconut candy? They have that too. Easy free parking, picnic tables under shady trees and delicious ice cream, what more could you want?

Sometimes, when I stay on west Maui, I think about their treats, so close yet so far. But no longer! 13 days ago, they opened up a truck location, overseen by Matthew himself! There is a coconut glen's now right there by Honoapiilani hwy and Napilihau street! We got the classic coconut and mint chip, which was refreshing. There are tables there under the shade of some Norfolk pines to enjoy a snack. Matthew was super nice and friendly, and sounded excited to get things started at the new location. Now I can have coconut glens whether I'm west in Napili or east towards Hana! Mahalo!

We were debating whether to try another place but I'm very pleased we decided to go with Up in Smoke instead. The portion was reasonable for the price (It's a touristy destination, so don't complain about pricey food. I mean come on, what do you expect?) especially with how much meat was piled on top of the rice. I covered my bowl in the hottest hot sauce they had and I swear it was some of the most delicious hawaiian food I had my entire time on the island. I also got a side of homemade mac and cheese that reminded me of how my mother used to make it. The entire meal only cost me $14 which was a lot better than some of the other trucks on the Hana Highway. Great staff too, they recommend my meal. I bet anything else on their menu would be just as delicious!

But luckily they didn't take the day off that we went. The one lady operating the stand was from Long Island, a few towns over from my hometown, which was surprising that she somehow settle in the middle of nowhere along the Road to Hana. She was very friendly and nice to chat to, all while she was working fast to get the orders churned out. I got the Kalua Pig Taco ($7.00), slow cooked shredded pork on a large tortilla with cheese, beans, homemade salsa, and shredded cabbage. Part of my concern was that everything was sitting in buffet like-trays. Luckily the food was still fresh. The kalua pig was tender and flavorful. The salsa was not very spicy but they did have bottles of BBQ Sauce, Sweet Chili Pepper, and Hot Chili Garlic by the front counter to squeeze on my taco. I love spicy, so I tried the Hot Chili Garlic that did add some good heat to the taco. But overall, I didn't really feel like all the ingredients really meshed well together. Everything was good on its own, but altogether, it didn't really have that wow factor. I also tried the Shrimp Taco ($8.50). The shrimp was firm and not dried out from sitting in the tray. The rest of the ingredients were the same as the Kalua Pork Taco. Again, it just didn't impress. Average shrimp taco that was easily forgotten. Between the two tacos, I would get the Kalua Pig Taco for its Hawaiian authenticity, but if you're lucky enough, go to Island Chef for some delicious Coconut Shrimp. They are unbelievably good.

Maui Fish'n Chips hit the spot and was definitely worth the visit…read more Maui Fish'n Chips is tucked in the corner of a small plaza in Kihei, as most places seem to be. This place has a decent amount of covered seating outside, but no seating inside. The menu is simple, and you order inside. We ordered the Cod Fish with rice, Coconut shrimp, deep fried zucchini, and a side of potato mac salad. The fish and chips were easily the best thing we ate. The fish had outstanding flavor and were battered and fried perfectly. If we only ordered the fish and chips, this place would get an easy 5 stars, no questions asked. Unfortunately, the rest of the food we ate was meh. The coconut shrimp were large and had good coconut flavor, but were overcooked and a little burnt, which altered the overall flavor. But I am guessing if it wasn't burnt, it would have great. I typically love deep fried zucchini, so I was excited to try it here. If didn't meet expectations though (sad face). The zucchini slices were cut very thin, and when deep-fried, I felt like I tasted more of the fried breading than I did the actual zucchini. My wife is a big macaroni and potato salad person, and she was not impressed. She said it had too much mayo and not enough substance.... I was pleased with the service and staff! Everyone that worked there was really nice and helpful. I also appreciate all the seating outside. I also thought it was cool they had a lot of board games for kids to use while we waited for our food. Very unique and solid addition! This place gets a solid 4 stars. If they made little tweaks to the rest of their side dishes, this place could easily be one of the better places to eat in Maui.
