We went around 730pm on a Sunday, and there was quite the line out the door! You order at the counter, get a number, then find a table and wait for your food. Popular place! But the vibe is beachy and laid back with surf board tables and smiling helpful staff. It was about 25-30 minutes from when we joined the line until we got our food. My husband loves the fish tacos! As a vegetarian, he convinced me to try the tofu veggie tacos when they explained all the toppings were the same as the fish tacos minus the fish. We also got fries and a side green salad with pineapple mango vinegarette (yum!). Other vegetarian options include onion rings, taco bowl, taco mountain, impossible burger, coleslaw, mac salad, rice. I wasn't sure what to expect with these Hawaiian tacos (I've had some bad tofu tacos elsewhere) but these were amazing!! I tried to take notes to see if I could recreate these at home! My guesses: The tofu is fried and maybe in a chipotle sauce. With tomato onion jalapeño cilantro lime salsa, topped with the cabbage slaw (coconut milk, mayo, sugar, lemon, ginger), diced tomato and then with a mango salsa that has cilantro/lime, cheese in a white corn tortilla. Just delicious! My husband's fish tacos looked exactly the safe except had fish instead of tofu. The order comes as two tacos. Looking forward to returning! It's in a plaza so plenty of parking. Also family friendly. There was also outdoor seating (did not take a photo of it).

Friendly service, nice spacious dining area, you order first and then choose a table We came in thinking we would just get a tiny bite of the fish tacos to try before heading to the beach but ended up getting fish and chips and a cider as well LOL both great, the fish and chips were a little too salty for my taste but my friends loved it. Really good fresh fish overall

Came to this place right before closing and we heard good reviews online so we decided to check it out. We got their coconut shrimp with fries, fish tacos, and kalua pork. We really liked the fish tacos, it was huge and super flavorful. The kalua pork was pretty good too and I liked the sides. However the shrimp was just okay and not worth the price. It was $18 for 6 pieces and shrimp and some fries gurrrl. Definitely felt scammed lmaoo, save your money guys ~

A Maui Staple That Never Fails! We've been coming to Coconuts Fish Cafe for years, and even under new management, it's still the same incredible quality and flavors we love. The new decor is super cute and keeps the vibes high! There was a happy hour but I think that was just a welcome back ole friends discount. Everyone was having a great time there. I had the ono fish sandwich with the wasabi aioli--absolutely delicious with just the right amount of kick. My husband dove straight into the coconut shrimp and loved every bite. It's also a total win for families; my kiddos were happy with the classics like the burger and mac n cheese. The setup is super easy: you order right when you walk in, grab your own condiments, and they have fountain sodas ready to go. It's the perfect, low-key spot for a fantastic lunch. You have to stop by! No alcohol but I heard you can bring your own if you want.

I wanted to try some place new but the restaurants I went to were closed. We ended up at Coconuts. My wife had the fish tacos and I had the chicken. The food came out pretty quickly. My wife really liked her tacos. I thought my chicken was just ok. Too much batter compared to the chicken. It came with a barbecue sauce. I also got coleslaw with it which had a strange taste to it. The coconut shrimp was pretty generic tasting. There was plenty of seating inside and outside.

Recommended by a friend, we decided to give it a try on the way to happy hour. We ordered online for pickup - took about 10 minutes from the time of the order. Was hot and ready when we arrived. The staff was friendly and prompt in getting me the order and gave us plenty of napkins for the messy deliciousness. The tacos are AMAZING! People in reviews say that one plate (2 tacos) is enough to share so we trusted and ordered one plate. The menu says there are over 17 ingredients in the tacos, and there is also an option to make it a mountain for $2 extra. These are already a mountain! The tacos pack a punch of flavor. The fish is perfectly salted, seasoned, flaky, juicy, and plump. The rest adds so much complexity without taking anything away. They are perfect. Not overdone at all. Nothing seems excessive at all. 10/10 will be one of my go to tacos and will be returning again

We came here on our last night in Maui and are glad we didn't miss this on our trip. It was almost empty on a Saturday evening but got more crowded by the time we left around 8 pm. The servers were super sweet and helpful in making recommendations. We got the coconut shrimp, fish tacos and fish and chips--all delicious. My favorite was definitely the fish tacos, which were HUGE and packed with tender fish. The fries on the fish and chips were also great. Would definitely stop by again next time we visit Maui!

Best Fish Tacos on the island! You get two tacos with each order and they are packed with flavor. The fish was cooked well. The slaw adds a crunch and creaminess that's not too much with a hint of dill. And arguably the star, the mango salsa. So fresh and balances out the taco perfectly! We were only on kihei for the day and already had lunch plans but I made sure to make room for an order of fish tacos! Overall 4.6/5

Coconuts was an easy walk from our hotel in Kihei. Walking into the restaurant, we found it to be bright, clean and airy with fun surf board shaped tables. The place head a warm local vibe and the staff was super friendly. We walked up to the counter while starting at the large easy to read menus, but we knew what we wanted.... The infamous fish tacos. We chose 2 orders of the fish tacos and picked a table. The orders arrived quickly. The tacos were loaded with lots of fish and we're beautifully garnish with tomatoes and mango. Biting into the tacos you could taste the delicious fresh ingredients and the freshly grilled dish. The tacos were warm and the fish was tender and juicy. As I had told the staff on the way out...these are the best fish tacos on the island!

When we first walked in, we were greeted by their friendly server. We couldn't decide on what to get but she was very patient with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. My wife ordered the fish tacos, which comes with a variety of 17 different ingredients, and I ordered the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips. While waiting for our order, we explored the restaurant. It was a nice, chill vibe. There was a shelf that had a variety of sauces. There were pepper, salt, Tobasco, Cholula, mustard, Heinz Malt Vinegar, soy sauce, and an unlabeled bottle of hot sauce. I went straight for that hot sauce and was glad I did. The fish and chips were good without the sauce but the hot sauce added a nice touch. My wife enjoyed the fish tacos as well. There were so many flavors that meshed well together. Overall, we enjoyed both of our dishes. Come by and check it out for yourself!

We visited Coconut's Fish Cafe at the Azeka Shopping Center on December 4th, 2025 around 6:00 PM, and honestly, we had a really nice time. The place was clean the moment we walked in -- tables, floors, everything looked well taken care of. It has a simple, relaxed island vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. The service was quick, and the staff kept things moving smoothly even with a steady flow of people coming in. Our food came out faster than we expected, which was great. We tried the Coconut Shrimp, the Kalua Pork Plate, and the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi Plate, along with Aloha Maid juice, guava nectar, and a soft drink. Everything tasted fresh but lacking in the taste the portions were good, and the flavors were light and easy to enjoy. Overall, we walked out happy. It's a clean spot with fast service, decent flavors, and a laid-back feel a solid choice for a casual dinner in Kihei.

Food we tried: 1) Fish tacos. Their fish tacos are actually better or at least on par with some I've had in San Diego. They advertise that their fish tacos have 17 different ingredients. Mine even had a very small amount of avocado! Their cole slaw is particularly delicious. 2) Coconut shrimp. Their coconut shrimp appetizer was lightly battered and the sauce had a nice mango flavor. The batter certainly had a coconut flavor to it. It was not too oily and not too heavily battered. 3) Spicy ahi poke. I also tried their spicy ahi poke appetizer and it was very nicely flavored (albeit pricey even for Hawaii). Nicely decorated, casual place. Free water cups. They bring the food to you but that's it for service. Great spot right across from the a very nice sandy beach. We left full with our two orders of fish tacos and two appetizers (for 2 people).

Upon entering the restaurant, we enjoyed hearing upbeat music and hubby and I were warmly greeted by an employee named Josh. Hubby informed the employee about his but allergy and the employee said the restaurant was but free except the peanut sauce in one of the menu items. After reviewing the menu, I decided to try their Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl with nozzarella sticks and hubby ordered their pulled pork fries. In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The pulled pork fries had the perfect balance of tenderness through the well seasoned pulled pork served on top of crunchy French fries. Since we at inside the restaurant, we appreciated Josh regularly checking in to ask how we were enjoying our meal as well as providing suggestions for other places in the area with vegan or plant based food options. We enjoyed the food, conversation and good vibes with Josh so much that we returned the next day. During our second visit, I ordered a chicken gyro and a crème brûlée which hubby ordered the BRB burger with fries, a side on onion rings, and a slice of avocado toast. Considering we were crunched for time, we took our food to go and similar to our first visit, the food was phenomenal. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet.
