Came to this place right before closing and we heard good reviews online so we decided to check it out. We got their coconut shrimp with fries, fish tacos, and kalua pork. We really liked the fish tacos, it was huge and super flavorful. The kalua pork was pretty good too and I liked the sides. However the shrimp was just okay and not worth the price. It was $18 for 6 pieces and shrimp and some fries gurrrl. Definitely felt scammed lmaoo, save your money guys ~

Fish and tarter sauce were great. The French fries were the worst I've ever had. Soggy, no crisp at all, just a terrible display. How can you put fries onto a plate that are that bad I will never understand. I won't go back, Disappointed honestly. One and done I'm embarassed for them, talk about botching a simple task. Who does this, tells you alot about a place RESPONSE: what are you talking about. I picked it up I was sitting in the parking lot and ate in my truck so no you didn't accurately dig into it. One star now, nothing was crispy about these things I promise you

We came here on our last night in Maui and are glad we didn't miss this on our trip. It was almost empty on a Saturday evening but got more crowded by the time we left around 8 pm. The servers were super sweet and helpful in making recommendations. We got the coconut shrimp, fish tacos and fish and chips--all delicious. My favorite was definitely the fish tacos, which were HUGE and packed with tender fish. The fries on the fish and chips were also great. Would definitely stop by again next time we visit Maui!

I wanted to try some place new but the restaurants I went to were closed. We ended up at Coconuts. My wife had the fish tacos and I had the chicken. The food came out pretty quickly. My wife really liked her tacos. I thought my chicken was just ok. Too much batter compared to the chicken. It came with a barbecue sauce. I also got coleslaw with it which had a strange taste to it. The coconut shrimp was pretty generic tasting. There was plenty of seating inside and outside.

Recommended by a friend, we decided to give it a try on the way to happy hour. We ordered online for pickup - took about 10 minutes from the time of the order. Was hot and ready when we arrived. The staff was friendly and prompt in getting me the order and gave us plenty of napkins for the messy deliciousness. The tacos are AMAZING! People in reviews say that one plate (2 tacos) is enough to share so we trusted and ordered one plate. The menu says there are over 17 ingredients in the tacos, and there is also an option to make it a mountain for $2 extra. These are already a mountain! The tacos pack a punch of flavor. The fish is perfectly salted, seasoned, flaky, juicy, and plump. The rest adds so much complexity without taking anything away. They are perfect. Not overdone at all. Nothing seems excessive at all. 10/10 will be one of my go to tacos and will be returning again

Best Fish Tacos on the island! You get two tacos with each order and they are packed with flavor. The fish was cooked well. The slaw adds a crunch and creaminess that's not too much with a hint of dill. And arguably the star, the mango salsa. So fresh and balances out the taco perfectly! We were only on kihei for the day and already had lunch plans but I made sure to make room for an order of fish tacos! Overall 4.6/5

Coconuts was an easy walk from our hotel in Kihei. Walking into the restaurant, we found it to be bright, clean and airy with fun surf board shaped tables. The place head a warm local vibe and the staff was super friendly. We walked up to the counter while starting at the large easy to read menus, but we knew what we wanted.... The infamous fish tacos. We chose 2 orders of the fish tacos and picked a table. The orders arrived quickly. The tacos were loaded with lots of fish and we're beautifully garnish with tomatoes and mango. Biting into the tacos you could taste the delicious fresh ingredients and the freshly grilled dish. The tacos were warm and the fish was tender and juicy. As I had told the staff on the way out...these are the best fish tacos on the island!

When we first walked in, we were greeted by their friendly server. We couldn't decide on what to get but she was very patient with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. My wife ordered the fish tacos, which comes with a variety of 17 different ingredients, and I ordered the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips. While waiting for our order, we explored the restaurant. It was a nice, chill vibe. There was a shelf that had a variety of sauces. There were pepper, salt, Tobasco, Cholula, mustard, Heinz Malt Vinegar, soy sauce, and an unlabeled bottle of hot sauce. I went straight for that hot sauce and was glad I did. The fish and chips were good without the sauce but the hot sauce added a nice touch. My wife enjoyed the fish tacos as well. There were so many flavors that meshed well together. Overall, we enjoyed both of our dishes. Come by and check it out for yourself!

We visited Coconut's Fish Cafe at the Azeka Shopping Center on December 4th, 2025 around 6:00 PM, and honestly, we had a really nice time. The place was clean the moment we walked in -- tables, floors, everything looked well taken care of. It has a simple, relaxed island vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. The service was quick, and the staff kept things moving smoothly even with a steady flow of people coming in. Our food came out faster than we expected, which was great. We tried the Coconut Shrimp, the Kalua Pork Plate, and the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi Plate, along with Aloha Maid juice, guava nectar, and a soft drink. Everything tasted fresh but lacking in the taste the portions were good, and the flavors were light and easy to enjoy. Overall, we walked out happy. It's a clean spot with fast service, decent flavors, and a laid-back feel a solid choice for a casual dinner in Kihei.

Yum!! The best fish tacos I've ever had! They're generous with their mango topping, which adds a light & refreshing element. And the fish was beautifully cooked. It's a little pricey (2 tacos for $24), but honestly, pretty worth for Maui prices. This place is a must for me!

Food we tried: 1) Fish tacos. Their fish tacos are actually better or at least on par with some I've had in San Diego. They advertise that their fish tacos have 17 different ingredients. Mine even had a very small amount of avocado! Their cole slaw is particularly delicious. 2) Coconut shrimp. Their coconut shrimp appetizer was lightly battered and the sauce had a nice mango flavor. The batter certainly had a coconut flavor to it. It was not too oily and not too heavily battered. 3) Spicy ahi poke. I also tried their spicy ahi poke appetizer and it was very nicely flavored (albeit pricey even for Hawaii). Nicely decorated, casual place. Free water cups. They bring the food to you but that's it for service. Great spot right across from the a very nice sandy beach. We left full with our two orders of fish tacos and two appetizers (for 2 people).

I'll still support the place, but to really love supporting them even more, I have some friendly recommendations. I love the char on the meat, the salsas are great and were given to me cold (great sign! As unbelievable as it may seem, this simple step is missed in a lot of places!), the beans and rice with the sasoun like abuela used to make- chef's kiss! and even better than Ono tacos in Kahului in my opinion, and their beans and rice are pretty fly). The pollo and asada, one day has more flavor than the next. Some days, no salt at all. So if you bring a guest, just pack some limes and salt just in case, so they'll believe you when you say this place is awesome. Problem solved. Additionally, the comment about the fatty inedible bits of steak- yes, I have experienced it also, that is an anomaly that the chef should be able to catch. That's not ok and will turn a lot of people off from the food, please quality control or let the butcher know so you guys are getting value. Sometimes I know those fatty cartridge chunks can contribute to flavor because of the oils, but that can be done in a separate process and removed before plating with that primo asada. First visit I loved the carne asada tacos. Quality is very hard to find here on Maui, and once you find it, consistency even harder, but I really like this place so I'm coming back and bringing more folks. The marinade and seasoning was on point that first time. The second time, the beans and rice had wayyy more flavor than the chicken and the steak, just being real. I look forward to trying more. I bring guests here and they say the same things. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and I know food can be hard work, just iron out your processes so they're firme every time, make sure everyone working follows the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and people will remember it for sure, the potential for even more greatness is definitely there, no one else is making tacos like this! just needs attention to detail. Also.. not to end on a bad note, but I've gotta say it- you -always- should provide or offer silverware to customers, and napkins. That's only proper form. The service and kindness of the young man taking orders is impeccable, he is kind and personable to people and you can tell he was raised with respect , has dignity and kindness for others. Well done! This is rare also and people notice. What a good bruddah! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. I live with constant pain. I don't always wanna cook, shop, marinate, and all the steps it takes to make an epic meal, unless I'm cooking for a lot of people I love. I can tell you're spreading the love with your food, I hope my honesty isn't harsh, I really want everyone to eat well and I want businesses to do amazingly. Gracias!

In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet.
