    Tripas Tacos
    Smaly K.

I was excited when I saw they had tripas tacos. I love tripas, so had to try it out here in Hawaii. I got their Tripas plate and Watermelon Juice. Unfortunately, the tripas were not as good as I usually have them. The texture wasn't good, and not easy to chew. Probably would have been better if it was cooked differently or longer. I didn't enjoy it too much, and didn't finish it. I did enjoy the Watermelon Juice though.

My half eaten tostadas. Yum yum

Absolutely amazing Mexican food! It reminded me of my ex's mother's cooking, she's from Mexico and made the best homemade Mexican dishes I've ever had. This taco truck comes very close to her level. Because of my food sensitivities, I could only try the tostadas, but I wish I could sample more to give a better review. My husband had a burrito and a couple of tostadas, and he loved both. The Mexican rice is so light and fluffy with just the right mix of seasoning, not over powering at all. Husband said it reminded him of the Mexican food back in California. We'll definitely be coming back here until we leave Maui! I did ask if the horchata was homemade or prepackaged, she said homemade! Little too sweet for my liking, but I'm sure it's fine for others.

Took my son to Maui for his birthday. We really wanted to try new restaurants while we were here... or so we thought... we ended up surviving solely off of Taco Aztecas and shaved ice for the rest of the trip. We are planning a trip back to Maui specifically to be able to eat here again... it is that good.

2 tacos, beans and rice for $19??? These prices are out of control!
    Kyle H.

Prices are out of control! $19 for 2 tacos, beans and rice is robbery. I mean, I can see more of the plate than the lunch.

While I understand the island is expensive I asked if they had a veggie taco and they said yes. What I got was sautéed onions and green peppers on a tortilla for $6.25 over $7 with tip and tax for a singular "taco". No alterations were made to this order and no additional toppings were offered. Just plain onions and peppers.

Love the Carne Asada nachos so much thats all I get when I go. I will have to make sure the next time I'm on the island I will order something else. So good fully loaded nachos except I don't get beans. Yummmmmmmy

Gave this new truck a try in Kihei, surprising delicious. Most Mexican places on Maui aren't quite as "authentic" as they claim to be in my opinion, but I will say this food truck is pretty authentic. I grew up in Vegas where Mexican culture is big, so I've had authentic Mexican food. The staff are very friendly & the food is really tasty. I got carne asada tostadas, which were my fav & birria tacos that came with consomé. It is pricey for just two tacos that comes with rice & beans, but that's the thing about living in hawaii you pay more than most. Their meals should include more tacos in each meal & more filling because honestly two isn't much they are pretty small. But overall I really enjoyed this place, they have a lot of potential!

Veg/vegan reviewer: Loved the wet burrito we had here. It was filling and sooo yummy. Trust me this is the best burrito you will find in Maui! Also, the lady was so welcoming. Coming back for dinner here

Fly from Oahu to try this food truck on a weekend getaway. Food is amazing, hospitality is 5 star and you can never go wrong with ending the delicious food with a warm fresh churro! Def worth the try!!

The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

The flavors were ok, but everything leaned a bit too smoky for me which was a little unexpected and the cabbage overwhelmed the burrito more than it complimented them. That said, I still really appreciate what this spot is all about. Everything is made to order, from tacos and mulitas to quesadillas and their Sunday-only barbacoa (get there early if you want to try it--it's first come, first served!). What keeps me rooting for them is that they're a non-profit and proceeds go toward supporting the children and youth of local churches. So even if my meal wasn't as memorable this time, I'm still happy to support a business that's doing good in the community. Would I go back? Upon entering the restaurant, we enjoyed hearing upbeat music and hubby and I were warmly greeted by an employee named Josh. Hubby informed the employee about his but allergy and the employee said the restaurant was but free except the peanut sauce in one of the menu items. After reviewing the menu, I decided to try their Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl with nozzarella sticks and hubby ordered their pulled pork fries. In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The pulled pork fries had the perfect balance of tenderness through the well seasoned pulled pork served on top of crunchy French fries. Since we at inside the restaurant, we appreciated Josh regularly checking in to ask how we were enjoying our meal as well as providing suggestions for other places in the area with vegan or plant based food options. We enjoyed the food, conversation and good vibes with Josh so much that we returned the next day. During our second visit, I ordered a chicken gyro and a crème brûlée which hubby ordered the BRB burger with fries, a side on onion rings, and a slice of avocado toast. Considering we were crunched for time, we took our food to go and similar to our first visit, the food was phenomenal. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet. Given Josh's positive energy as well as creative and delicious food, if you are vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious, I suggest you walk, not run to Earth Aloha Eats.
