    Tripas Tacos
    Smaly K.

I was excited when I saw they had tripas tacos. I love tripas, so had to try it out here in Hawaii. I got their Tripas plate and Watermelon Juice. Unfortunately, the tripas were not as good as I usually have them. The texture wasn't good, and not easy to chew. Probably would have been better if it was cooked differently or longer. I didn't enjoy it too much, and didn't finish it. I did enjoy the Watermelon Juice though.

My half eaten tostadas. Yum yum

Absolutely amazing Mexican food! It reminded me of my ex's mother's cooking, she's from Mexico and made the best homemade Mexican dishes I've ever had. This taco truck comes very close to her level. Because of my food sensitivities, I could only try the tostadas, but I wish I could sample more to give a better review. My husband had a burrito and a couple of tostadas, and he loved both. The Mexican rice is so light and fluffy with just the right mix of seasoning, not over powering at all. Husband said it reminded him of the Mexican food back in California. We'll definitely be coming back here until we leave Maui! I did ask if the horchata was homemade or prepackaged, she said homemade! Little too sweet for my liking, but I'm sure it's fine for others.

Took my son to Maui for his birthday. We really wanted to try new restaurants while we were here... or so we thought... we ended up surviving solely off of Taco Aztecas and shaved ice for the rest of the trip. We are planning a trip back to Maui specifically to be able to eat here again... it is that good.

2 tacos, beans and rice for $19??? These prices are out of control!
    Kyle H.

Prices are out of control! $19 for 2 tacos, beans and rice is robbery. I mean, I can see more of the plate than the lunch.

While I understand the island is expensive I asked if they had a veggie taco and they said yes. What I got was sautéed onions and green peppers on a tortilla for $6.25 over $7 with tip and tax for a singular "taco". No alterations were made to this order and no additional toppings were offered. Just plain onions and peppers.

Love the Carne Asada nachos so much thats all I get when I go. I will have to make sure the next time I'm on the island I will order something else. So good fully loaded nachos except I don't get beans. Yummmmmmmy

Gave this new truck a try in Kihei, surprising delicious. Most Mexican places on Maui aren't quite as "authentic" as they claim to be in my opinion, but I will say this food truck is pretty authentic. I grew up in Vegas where Mexican culture is big, so I've had authentic Mexican food. The staff are very friendly & the food is really tasty. I got carne asada tostadas, which were my fav & birria tacos that came with consomé. It is pricey for just two tacos that comes with rice & beans, but that's the thing about living in hawaii you pay more than most. Their meals should include more tacos in each meal & more filling because honestly two isn't much they are pretty small. But overall I really enjoyed this place, they have a lot of potential!

Veg/vegan reviewer: Loved the wet burrito we had here. It was filling and sooo yummy. Trust me this is the best burrito you will find in Maui! Also, the lady was so welcoming. Coming back for dinner here

Fly from Oahu to try this food truck on a weekend getaway. Food is amazing, hospitality is 5 star and you can never go wrong with ending the delicious food with a warm fresh churro! Def worth the try!!

I'll still support the place, but to really love supporting them even more, I have some friendly recommendations. I love the char on the meat, the salsas are great and were given to me cold (great sign! As unbelievable as it may seem, this simple step is missed in a lot of places!), the beans and rice with the sasoun like abuela used to make- chef's kiss! and even better than Ono tacos in Kahului in my opinion, and their beans and rice are pretty fly). The pollo and asada, one day has more flavor than the next. Some days, no salt at all. So if you bring a guest, just pack some limes and salt just in case, so they'll believe you when you say this place is awesome. Problem solved. Additionally, the comment about the fatty inedible bits of steak- yes, I have experienced it also, that is an anomaly that the chef should be able to catch. That's not ok and will turn a lot of people off from the food, please quality control or let the butcher know so you guys are getting value. Sometimes I know those fatty cartridge chunks can contribute to flavor because of the oils, but that can be done in a separate process and removed before plating with that primo asada. First visit I loved the carne asada tacos. Quality is very hard to find here on Maui, and once you find it, consistency even harder, but I really like this place so I'm coming back and bringing more folks. The marinade and seasoning was on point that first time. The second time, the beans and rice had wayyy more flavor than the chicken and the steak, just being real. I look forward to trying more. I bring guests here and they say the same things. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and I know food can be hard work, just iron out your processes so they're firme every time, make sure everyone working follows the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and people will remember it for sure, the potential for even more greatness is definitely there, no one else is making tacos like this! just needs attention to detail. Also.. not to end on a bad note, but I've gotta say it- you -always- should provide or offer silverware to customers, and napkins. That's only proper form. The service and kindness of the young man taking orders is impeccable, he is kind and personable to people and you can tell he was raised with respect , has dignity and kindness for others. Well done! This is rare also and people notice. What a good bruddah! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. I live with constant pain. I don't always wanna cook, shop, marinate, and all the steps it takes to make an epic meal, unless I'm cooking for a lot of people I love. I can tell you're spreading the love with your food, I hope my honesty isn't harsh, I really want everyone to eat well and I want businesses to do amazingly. Gracias!

We ordered a basket of Chips and Salsa with a Side of Queso and annihilated that throughout the meal. I got myself a Zero Proof Guavalajara (Guava Margarita) and Mom got the $5 Margarita Special. Our waitress Geo was so friendly and checked up on us quite frequently & recommended the Drink Special to my mom. She also mentioned since it's Tuesday, they had $5 Taco Specials! They were full house inside so we enjoyed our meal outside which was nice to enjoy more relaxing vibes. Dad got the Pescado (Fish) Taco Plate which was Opakapaka and he annihilated 2 out of the 3. There was a chipotle crema on top and he said the Fish was nice and crispy since it was battered with tempura. It's definitely a good portion with 3 enchiladas with lettuce, radish slices, crema on top and a side of Rice with corn and carrots throughout and Creamy Pinto Beans! To finish our meal, we scored the last slice of the Strawberry Vanilla Tres Leches Cake! Perfectly soaked with the three milks, a little dash of strawberry jam on top and light strawberry whipped cream topping and filling. Geo said the last piece was the largest! Upon entering the restaurant, we enjoyed hearing upbeat music and hubby and I were warmly greeted by an employee named Josh. Hubby informed the employee about his but allergy and the employee said the restaurant was but free except the peanut sauce in one of the menu items. After reviewing the menu, I decided to try their Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl with nozzarella sticks and hubby ordered their pulled pork fries. In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The pulled pork fries had the perfect balance of tenderness through the well seasoned pulled pork served on top of crunchy French fries. Since we at inside the restaurant, we appreciated Josh regularly checking in to ask how we were enjoying our meal as well as providing suggestions for other places in the area with vegan or plant based food options. We enjoyed the food, conversation and good vibes with Josh so much that we returned the next day. During our second visit, I ordered a chicken gyro and a crème brûlée which hubby ordered the BRB burger with fries, a side on onion rings, and a slice of avocado toast. Considering we were crunched for time, we took our food to go and similar to our first visit, the food was phenomenal. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet. Given Josh's positive energy as well as creative and delicious food, if you are vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious, I suggest you walk, not run to Earth Aloha Eats.
