Hands down the best food I had on the island. The owner greeted us, and was super kind! He helped us pick what to order -- which was phenomenal, and lets us make some substitutions since we didn't eat one part of the special offered. We got the fried cod special which came with slaw, potato/Mac salad, a drink and then we ordered a side of volcano fries. First, the cook on the cod was great. Super flaky and flavorful! The slaw and Mac salad were what I was expecting from Hawaii, truly delicious and we honestly could eat just bowls of those! The volcano fries were also good with the sauce they came with. The patio outside was great for family seating, and even better, they had an array of kids toys in side to keep my toddler busy. Wish we had more time to go back tbh. Maui Fish'n Chips hit the spot and was definitely worth the visit. Maui Fish'n Chips is tucked in the corner of a small plaza in Kihei, as most places seem to be. This place has a decent amount of covered seating outside, but no seating inside. The menu is simple, and you order inside. We ordered the Cod Fish with rice, Coconut shrimp, deep fried zucchini, and a side of potato mac salad. The fish and chips were easily the best thing we ate. The fish had outstanding flavor and were battered and fried perfectly. If we only ordered the fish and chips, this place would get an easy 5 stars, no questions asked. Unfortunately, the rest of the food we ate was meh. The coconut shrimp were large and had good coconut flavor, but were overcooked and a little burnt, which altered the overall flavor. But I am guessing if it wasn't burnt, it would have great. I typically love deep fried zucchini, so I was excited to try it here. If didn't meet expectations though (sad face). The zucchini slices were cut very thin, and when deep-fried, I felt like I tasted more of the fried breading than I did the actual zucchini. My wife is a big macaroni and potato salad person, and she was not impressed. She said it had too much mayo and not enough substance.... I was pleased with the service and staff! Everyone that worked there was really nice and helpful. I also appreciate all the seating outside. I also thought it was cool they had a lot of board games for kids to use while we waited for our food. Very unique and solid addition! This place gets a solid 4 stars. One of our best meals on Maui and the place we will visit over and over again due to their food, service and value. My biggest regret is not trying this place on day one of our visit! We only discovered them while shopping on our last day which was a blessing and a curse because we only had them once! Anyway, get the combo if you can't choose between shrimp and fish or tow fish. We went with the ono, per recommendation, and the shrimp. Both were delicious! Added the Mac salad which also has potato which was new and interesting. Very good! Maui Fish and Chips is hands-down the best fish and chips we've had in the last three years of visiting Wailea. I can't believe we just came here this year for the first time! The fish is perfectly cooked -- light, crispy batter with fresh, flaky fish inside -- and the fries are always hot and seasoned just right. My family and I think that the fried fish here is better then Paia Fish!!! The Cod and Ono are my favorites!! My husband always gets the chicken teriyaki with rice and absolutely loves it, so there's something for everyone. And don't skip the garlic fries -- they're amazing and addicting. For a place with fish 'n chips in it's name, you'd think that it would actually be delicious. I'm not sure if it was the timing of our visit that led to this outcome, but we visited today during tourist season. We ordered 2 cod with garlic fries. Portion sizes were ok, and the fries had a nice crisp. However, the flavor and texture of the fish was so disappointing. The texture was barely reminiscent of cod - it was dense and dry - not to mention the flavor was completely dependent on the sauce. I've had cod fish and chips at other places, and none of the light, flaky, fish I was familiar with was part of the meal. Additionally, we subbed garlic fries in lieu of regular fries (+$1.50), and it looks like they just placed a tsp jarred minced garlic on the fries. The garlic flavor was basically absent...you'd be better off sticking with the original fries it comes with. I gave 2 stars because of the cashier at the front desk was nice. But with the hype surrounding this place, on top of the price point, and seeing what you get in reality, you'd be better off just going next door to Paia Fish Market. read more

Ono fish n chips were very good. My wife loves fish-n-chips and currently our favorite has been SeaPal Cove in Fort Bragg, Ca. This rivaled SeaPal. These were flavorful, not oily, with moist fish. No picture, ate it already... I also liked their coconut shrimp. I don't get how this place is so highly rated. The food is tasty and comes out fresh. However, two major knocks. First and foremost, the fish servings are way too small. We ordered 5 entrees--different fish (fried, grilled, and tacos). Each fish portion was 3 ounces at most consisting of 2-3 paper thin fillets no bigger than a playing card. We opted for a mix of fries and rice--both decent servings. Second, they force you to buy bottled water. No cups or water station available. The fish tacos were overloaded with coleslaw and a super sweet dressing. Dialed back it had potential. It's fast casual with counter service. But with $20 plus entree prices, the fish portions should be at least 2x. read more

I love the fries. It was nice and crispy. - Mahi tacos: There is a mound of slaw on it which had an interesting flavor. It's not your usual fish taco seasoning or slaw which I appreciated. They are generous with the fish as well. - Mozarella cheese sticks: not my favorite. They use the same batter on these as the fish which I'm not a fan of. But they weren't bad. Searched online for Fish and Chips and this spot was only a few miles from our vacation condo. Went right at opening, 11:30am. Each of us had the Combo - Mahi Mahi and Shrimp, one with regular fries and one with garlic fries, so good. We also added a side of Coleslaw and Onion Rings, both delicious. Perfectly fried with a light, crispy batter and topped with a refreshing coleslaw that added just the right crunch and tang. Simple, delicious, and totally addictive. The owner took our order and was super great about helping us pick out the right things and not over ordering.
