Stopped for lunch, tried crispy fish sandwich, coconut shrimp, shoyu poke, and shave ice. No beer but we brought our own and they were explicitly cool with that. Fried seafood and fries were great, poke and shave ices fine but nothing special. Service was friendly and quick. Would be happy to eat there again sometime. read more

Da Fish Shack - Magi Mahi fish sandwich. Great tasting fries. - Food Trucks Near Me - Hana, Hawaii

This little truck is one of my favorites. I am a sucker for a good fish plate. Not only do these guys do fish really well, the burgers are some of the best on Maui. They always friendly and the service is fast for fresh food. I got the ono plate with a sweet chili sauce and the green beans were just right. They always give good portion sizes. The burgers always come with fries and they do just as good with the fries perfectly crisp. The prices are also some of the most reasonable around and it is family run business. I love supporting them cause they always consistently friendly and cranking out some good food. Highly reccomend these guys. I will be going back. read more

Da Fish Shack - Ono fish plate with sweet chili sauce and, kimchi, green beans and sticky white rice. - Food Trucks Near Me - Hana, Hawaii

3.5/5 stars. This is a food truck in Hana. I got the Island Mix Grill ($23), which had seared fish, 3 pieces of coconut shrimp, rice, and broccoli. The fish was a generous piece, but it was on the drier side. The coconut shrimp was hot, fresh, and crispy, and it was lightly battered. I personally don't like coconut flavor, but it was still pretty good. The broccoli had such a great flavor - loved the sweet sauce, but there was not much broccoli in the dish. Rice was on the soggy side. Overall, a solid lunch. read more

We stopped at Da Fish Shack for lunch after a dizzying drive on the Hana highway. It is a food truck located in an easily accessible lot on to the Hana hwy. After checking the other food trucks, about 4 or 5, that share the lot with Da Fish Shack, I walked back to this one because I love fish and wanted to try the seared fish (ahi) plate on the menu, and also because of the friendly and warm aloha welcome I received when I approached this food truck the first time and asked questions about their menu which was answered unhurriedly and politely. The grilled ahi was very good - well seasoned, tender and a good portion, without the $$$$ price tag of restaurants in the town of Hana. I also enjoyed the homemade chili and pineapple sauce, and vegetable that came with my ahi. The owner also gave me a nice size sample of poke which was really fresh and delicious too! We ate at a covered picnic table which is clean and provided shade from the sun. I should mention it is an outdoor seating so keep your food covered to keep flies off your plate. A minor nuisance. Also, if you need a bathroom break, there are public restrooms in the beach located 15 minutes from this food trucks stop. Make this your stop after the Hana heavy drive and help support small local businesses! It is a good thing! read more

OMG if you're in Hana, you must try this spot, the best fresh caught fish and the tartar sauce is amazing. I went and got a Cajun style to split and that was amazing too! The service is very friendly and the ambiance is not bad for a food truck lot. They had decent parking too :) read more

This was our lunch stop on the road to Hana tour and we made the right decision! Our tour guide recommended ordering here and taking the food down the road a bit where there are tables with a view of the water. The poke bowl and seared fish were delicious and hit all the right flavor notes. We only had to wait for one other person in front of us which worked out in our favor. Highly recommend this spot if you want to avoid the huli huli chicken stop that most people will choose. read more

Great food. Reasonable prices (relative to Maui). Quick service. Covered seating. Really enjoyed this place for a quick lunch in Hāna.

Fish was freshly caught as per the nice lady at the counter. Have had better fish tacos in the island.

Uncle was standing on a bridge handing flyers to cars so we decided to stop and WOW the fish katsu was heavenly! The wasabi sauce was addicting! read more

Lots of food trucks around but stopping here did not disappoint. I ordered the shrimp po boy, the spicy poke bowl, and 1 shrimp taco and1 fish taco (you can have one of each). The shrimp po boy was our favorite! Shrimp tacos second. The shrimp tasted so fresh. Poke is hard to rate because there's great poke everywhere but this one was good, although I think the other food on their menu is better. Spicy with the wasabi sauce. Anyway.. if you stop here get the shrimp po boy! we also tried their mango lemonade YUM! They prefer cash btw, but do accept card. Parking lot makes parking easy, or you can park right in front. Also tables to sit at. There's a pizza food truck in the same lot, too. read more

Da Fish Shack was on my must-try list during our stay in Hana but be aware not to be dependent on their hours on Yelp. Luckily we came for lunch right after our Pipiwai Trail hike vs. for dinner as originally planned since they were closing earlier than their hours on Yelp. Ahi poke bowl was solid although I found the ahi katsu too dry and needed more sauce. Portion size, it was satisfying lunch but would've been too small for dinner which is probably why they do close early. Their lemonade comes from the stand next to it but after they fulfilled it, it was just left on the counter until we asked for it at the truck with our order and they pointed next door. By then, it was a warm. read more

This place was the perfect spot for our family to stop in Hāna. Kids had bacon cheeseburgers with fries, my wife had the chicken katsu, and I had a Cajun fish sandwich with fries. The fries are perfect and crispy and served with a cup of ketchup. The chicken katsu was cooked perfect and served with a teriyaki and siracha sauce. The Cajun fish sandwich was perfectly grilled and served with a light cole slaw, grilled onion, tomato, tartar sauce, and a chipotle sauce! The kids loved the burgers, and both the burger and sandwich were served on a perfectly soft bun. We also saw fish and chips and other dishes going out, and the service was positive and fast! Very impressed to see a place have such a wide menu and serve at that speed. They also have Hawaiian ice to finish the meal! read more

Foods Aiight. Service.... Well leaves room for improvement lol. There are many food trucks in this area fyi. The food was fresh and the catch of the day was Ono. It is a very meaty fish (similar texture as chicken). We got the fish and chips and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was very tasty. I appreciate that the food was freshly caught. read more

Found this food truck amongst other food trucks during our winding trip on Hana. We were starving! I chose the fish tacos which were fine, but I have to admit I still would rather have a fish taco from Rubio's. I'm sure Da Fish Shack is probably healthier. My daughter ordered the fish and chips which is what I actually wanted, but they only had one left and my daughter got it. That looked so crispy and yummy and golden!! The fries were plentiful and yummy as well. The guys in the truck provided excellent customer service. Free parking. Plenty of places to sit. read more

We were looking for Huli Huli Chicken and gave up when we found Da Fish Shack (it turns out that we did not go far enough). Other than the less than friendly service (OUCH!), this was worth the stop and evidenced by the locals eating there. The poke bowl is one of the best that I have EVER had - super fresh and rich fish with some of the most incredibly fresh wasabi. The fish plate was a little dry, but the pineapple salsa made the plate worth it. The rice and broccoli were nice accompaniments. LO enjoyed her veggie eggrolls and DH enjoyed his crispy fish sandwich. You get to eat on positively filthy picnic tables outside under a metal shade. But, it is worth it for that poke bowl. read more

I finally got to try one of the food trucks in Kulamalu lot and I chose this one. While everything on the menu sounded yummy, I definitely wanted to try something fishy. I had the mahi fish burger and was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked and was juicy and flavorful. My friend had the spicy shrimp plate and absolutely loved it. Make no mistake, it was spicy. Fantastic coconut shrimp and fast, friendly service! If I ever return to Hana I will visit this food truck again.

I've eaten at the location upcountry about 50 times. The owners and staff is very friendly and food is prepared quickly which is great when I'm working. I need something healthy and delicious yet fast. The sandwiches are incredible grilled or fried fish sandwich. The fries are super addicting. You can't go wrong with any of the specials. Ahi BLT and Cajun wrap or favorites and if he has poke you have to get it! It'll be the best Poké bowl you've ever had. It's fresh Ahi that he catches and prepares it himself. Highly recommend Da fish shack! read more

Don't waste your time and money on this spot. Costumer service 0, food - 0! Rude and unprofessional.

What a great litttle food truck. After a long ride to Hana ( I'm calling it a lesson on defensive road skills) it was a pleasure to have lunch there. With a twist on the Hawaiian food and fast.. I had the shrimp po boy with fries. and my wife had the fish tacos! Took the advice from yelp fans and it did not disappoint read more

Not just a review of Da Fish Shack but if you are making the Road to Hana Da Fish is in a little cluster of tasty food trucks (Lava Tacos, Troy's plate, and Tita's coffee are some of the other options. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast so you can make it out to see your 8th waterfall and 5th near death collision just around the river bend. Anyways back to the food. I had their Ahi dynamite sandwich on a brioche bun with grilled onions, lettuce tomato and a spicy sauce with fries. Delicious. My wife had their fish sandwich a grilled Ono that was just as tasty. With drinks came to about $30 bucks. We walked across the way (20 yards or so) to Lava Tacos and had their Mahi Mahi dip and chips. With homemade hot sauce. It was refreshing especially if squeeze the fresh lime on it. Only ten bucks. Picnic tables as well. Many food options as you head out of the Hana metropolis read more

So after a few months of stalking their Instagram page, i finally got to try their food. Our New Year's Day plans got cancelled so we decided on just a holoholo day. The hubby asked where I wanted to eat at and I told him "lets try that food truck you keep bragging to me about!" Lol. He works upcountry and I work in town so of course he usually gets to enjoy the Upcountry eateries during his lunch hour during the week :) OUR ORDER: Island Mixed Grill with brown rice, Ahi Katsu plate with brown rice and fish and chips. Of course, we did family style and sampled eachothers food. All were great. The island mixed grill fish was mahimahi, the ahi katsu of course was ahi and the fish and chips were fried ono. Everything tasted. great. The fish for each dish was cooked perfectly. LOCATION: Located at the Kulamalu Town Center in the little lot next to Longs. You cant miss it. SERVICE: The ladies working were wearing masks, hand sanitizer was available at the counter and customer service was superb. OVERALL: Great portions, amazing grinds and great customer service. I cant wait to go back. Be sure to follow them on Instagram, wear your masks, wash your hands, sanitize, practice social distancing and check them out. You wont be disappointed. read more

I'll have more of that, thank you. This truck is recommended by the YouTube folks (thanks!), and it sure did hit the spot. We went to Lahaina Fish Co. the previous night, and it was only okay. While their fish was better than most, it didn't have much seafood flavor. Da Fish Shack remedied that for sure. Their fish was flaky, and their shrimp was fresh and "soong" (I'm not sure what the English equivalent is for this canto word). The price point was more than decent, and they offered us free papaya! I would be back for sure if I'm ever in Hana again. read more

We had an excellent lunch at Da Fish Shack. Dining choices in Hana are better before 7 and when it's not raining. There are a number of food trucks in town but they close by 7. We shared a fish mixed plate ($21) with ono, coconut shrimp, rice and veg. The ono was a good size piece of fresh firm fish. The coconut shrimp was crispy and lightly sweet. My only wish was that there was a bit more veg. It was all delicious and perfect sharing size. We also had mango lemonade, which was perfectly sweet tart. read more

Their fish today was Ono and it was 'ono! Lol. My mom and I got the Island Mixed Grill plate. I think their mixed plate changes over time. The coconut shrimp was delicious - you could actually taste the coconut! I will definitely be going back! Looking forward to trying their Caesar with fish (: read more

Super tasty food truck option in Hana. We had the grilled fish burger, which was cooked to perfection. The battered fish had a lovely crisp batter; the fish was a bit drier than the burger but the homemade tartar sauce was loaded with dill, super ono, and made up for any dryness in the fish. The coconut shrimp was an excellent interpretation. Fries were crispy and coleslaw was lightly seasoned and not sweet. All in, a definitely repeatable food truck to visit while driving the R2H. read more

Yum! Super fresh fish, with friendly service upcountry! I'm delighted to have something so good, so close to home. I chose a crispy fish sandwich "as a wrap" because I wanted the crisp, but not the bun. They were happy to accommodate me, which made me happy in return. Excellent customer service goes far. The wrap itself was delicious! Unassuming with some crunchy lettuce, some cheese, and what I think was a wasabi cream... the fish was obviously fresh, and well prepared. I got the crisp I was after, and the potion was substantial. I have nothing negative to say. I look forward to trying out their whole menu! Thanks so much for the great food experience! read more
