    Korean Chicken Plate
    Emmanuel R.

After a long ride doing the "Road to Hāna" guide, we stopped here to look around at the food trucks. After debating what to get, I stopped by here. The look of the truck was distinct from the rest, this one was all black, while others had colors to it. After eating poke the previous day, I was craving some chicken. What caught my attention of the Korean chicken, and that it had the house made sauce, which I love to try out a restaurant's unique food/food item. Ordered it, took a few minutes, and got the food out. The plate came with a scoop of rice, macaroni salad, chicken, sauce, and rice under the chicken to soak up the sauce. It was the best food I've had here during my vacation. The chicken was crispy but not dry, the sauce complimented it, while not overpowering the flavor of the chicken. The macaroni salad and rice were delicious. I couldn't finish it all, so I took the rest to go. Even after a few hours and it being cold, the chicken was still crispy and tasty. For the price of $20, it was a definitely worth it for the taste and the amount that you get. If I ever come back to Hāna, I am definitely going to return here.

Combo plate with shrimp and fish. I already ate some:) Great portion.

Delicious! Really fresh tasting fish and shrimp. I could use a touch more salt/flavor, but I always feel that way ha. Sauces were great and Mac salad was good too. Friendly service.

Reasonably priced, easy for two people to share. Food truck located in a park with several other food trucks around. I felt the portion sizes were good enough, but could've used a little bit more rice to eat with the plentiful tuna they gave. They do take credit card without fee Unfortunately no service or Wi-Fi available. Some of the other food trucks in the area charge for credit card use or require cash. They also don't have any water except bottled water for purchase. I suppose are capitalizing on the heat and lack of other resources in the area. The other downside was there a lot of flies and bugs around the tables meant for eating so it was not an enjoyable experience to eat outside and we took our food back to the car.

Really good. Stopped here after 4pm on a Sunday, so glad that there were still some food options available. They were out of the lau lau pork, which I was sad about but the panko shrimp and Korean chicken were good. The dipping sauce was a sweet chili which was good. Some of the rice was on the soggy side but I liked the Mac salad a lot --not too heavy. Really big portion, and came out pretty quick.

SHOCKED by how good this was! Their Korean chicken is really hard to beat, one of my favorite stops in Maui, and happens to be in one of the smallest towns. Can't recommend enough!

Korean chicken and Panko breaded fish is a must! The lady who took our order was very friendly and helpful. I am so glad we stopped at this truck on our route, best food so far this trip

    The best of the trucks!

Took a guided tour of the road to Hanna and was told that there would be a variety of food trucks to sample for lunch. So the expectation was standard average tourist fare on a food truck. Captain Sam's had several fresh options. My wife had the fish and chips fresh catch of the day perfectly battered and fried with very light and crispy. French fries. The perfect lunch. I opted to have my first taste of authentic lau-lau, which is pork wrapped in tarot leaves. And paired that in a combination plate with some Korean style chicken. Everything was phenomenal. Amazingly fresh, tasty and no doubt made with love. When you find yourself on the road to Hana, you need to stop at Captain Sam's.

Perfect bite to eat along the Hana Highway. My family got 2 of the tuna poke bowls and it was delicious! The workers also answered my questions about the food, and overall enjoyed my meal :)

    Smoked Pork

Seriously the most delicious pork we have ever tasted! The smoked pork was BOMB and the pulled pork had a delicious flavor. Large meat portions with rice and macaroni salad. We were full and happy after the long drive to Hana... highly recommend!

Captain Sams (Yes he really is Boat Captain and Fisherman) food truck with its distinctive Black and Sliver color combination Serves some really great food. I had the Spicy Ahi Poke Wanton Nachos they must try. My partner had the Pork Lau Lau she said it was very tender and tasty. Today Ms Katie Ann was take orders and making menu suggestions. For about five dollars extra you could make your lunch order a combo platter. Its good way to sample some of the local flavors. Captain Sam's not only provides great food, but it represents a younger group of local entrepreneurs that wanna provide a living for themselves to stay in Hana in raise families and I'm so happy to support them.

It's huge portions of yummy good ... fish Chicken, pork and local favorite "Ahi Poke Nachos... Happy eats yall!!!!

We got here at 9 when it first started and this place was packed. We couldn't even find parking nearby, so we parked up the street and took a walk down to the back park. Started if with the vendors they're selling arts and crafts, so many to choose from. They had a lot of food to to choose from something different at the tents. Then we sat under the tent and enjoyed the entertainment. Then the rain came it poured for a bit so many people came under the tent. It was a fun and exciting day. People are very friendly here. I needed a bowl for my dog to drink water and a nice guy gave me a bowl from his booth. I was very grateful

This was my first visit to the Taro Fest but definitely not my last…read more It takes place at Hana Ball Park. Parking is challenging but not impossible. The event runs from 9a-5p. There's entertainment, arts & crafts, a sort of mini-trade show, and of course food! The main star of the show is the taro. They have demonstrations on how the plant is prepared in many ways for food. FOOD: Taro Seafood Chowder Similar to a squid luau dish. Lightly flavored with a coconut-based soup, luau leaves, chunks of taro, shredded chicken, potatoes and carrots. Needed more salt IMO. Pokē Balls Chunks of unsalted ahi pokē wrapped in a cake noodle and deep fried. Drizzled with a mild wasabi cream sauce (even I could handle it being a wasabi hater) and orange-colored cream sauce. Had it not been for the cream drizzles, it would've been flavorless. Maybe if the ahi was seasoned it would've tasted better. Or even use tako instead of ahi. A bit pricey at $10 for 2 balls. Apple Snails Similar to escargots, they're farmed from the taro patch. I was so excited to eat this again as I haven't eaten them in years. Again, the preparation was very light on flavor. I believe they sautéed them just in its natural broth because there was no flavor other than the snail and earthy taro patch flavor. It was delish but wish I had some garlic-shoyu mixture to dip them in. There are tons of other foods to try, but I like to try things I can't get everywhere. TIP: Bring an umbrella because Hana can bake you during the day, as well as some salt and shoyu as the sodium content at most food booths are very, very low.
