They packed it up very nicely for us and we brought it back to our room at the Hyatt. Included where all the condiments, napkins, chopsticks, plastic silverware. We arrived in Hana in late afternoon and this food truck was recommended by a local. They had a long list of items on their menu including noodles, curry and salads. We got Pad See Ew and pumpkin curry with fish. The food portion was big. Pad see ew was freshly cooked and nicely seasoned. Pumpkin curry came with a generous portion of pumpkin and fish slices. The fish was not fresh though, as I could tell from the texture that it was frozen. There were a few outdoor benches for dinning a small parking lot. Overall, I'd give a five star for portion and taste but freshness of fish can be improved. read more

The food truck scene in the village of Hana is a marvel of its own. As a matter of fact, it is the place to eat and unquestionably beats the restaurants in the area. Thus, leave it to a Thai family to open up a truck that is beloved by tourists and locals alike. While many tackle the menu by ordering a Pad Thai, a true and tried classic beloved on the USA, there are certainly more exciting options the list. Coconut crusted local mahi is phenomenal. The sampler plate is really the way to go here. Great vegetables, pickled and fresh come on the side. Ae's Thai Kitchen is located in an area with other food trucks. There is plenty of outdoor seating but not much shade. The bay is about a 5 minute drive which may be a better place to eat since I didn't notice any restrooms in this location either. The food was delicious and the portions are sizable (which is a good thing imo)! I'm happy with their vegan options! I got drunken noodles and veggie egg rolls which were both good! The egg rolls were crunchy and flavorful. I wish they put tofu or some plant based meat with their vegan options because then it is just vegetables and noodles. THE BEST Shrimp Tom Yum I've had this far in my life! My husband agreed too! This broth was INSANE! Still thinking about it 2 day after leaving Hana. Haven't been able to find another like it on the island. I ordered it at a level 5 spice and it was spicy hut could finish. My husband's Pad Thai was also very delicious and flavorful. Hana is lucky to have a few great Thai food spots, and this is definitely one of them. My friends who live in Hana recommended it and I'm always down for Thai! I opted for the Pumpkin Red Curry with Chicken and wow-- it was SO good. It was spicy, had tons of vegetables, chicken and pumpkin chunks! I would literally drive to Hana to have it again! It came in a much larger bowl than I expected. They are right in town in a little food truck pod area with ample parking and seating. We went at night so they had cute lighting and it was a great pitstop after a long day at the beach! My boyfriend had the Pad See Ew, which he said was ok, hence the 4 stars. Came here after my road to hana trip. Theres a lot of food places, but if you want a bang for your buck, I would suggest this place. The area has a lot of bugs and limited seating. I got the pad thai (veggies) for $12-$14 (i forgot exactly but around there) and I got a lot portion wise. Probably fit for 2 meals. I really liked the way it tasted but my friends said that it didnt taste like pad thai at all. Maybe its because I got it without meat? Service was quick. Portion was good. Doing the road to Hana tour and this spot was suggested when we got to Hana Town, so of course we had to stop by. The parking lot is small and has a HUGE dip on both sides, so be careful and enter either diagonally or just slowly. Our smaller Sudan definitely scraped at the bottom. Ae's had three different trucks, one Thai, one American/burgers and hotdogs, one tacos. We opted for the Thai option for something new and different. My girlfriend got their Mahi and I got the pork belly. We like to get different things to share. It was good and super flavorful but be prepared to drink some water. The use of fish sauce was evident and it was delicious, however, the food made us incredibly thirsty. I would absolutely go back and get more food from here, it was so good, but maybe wait till you have some water nearby. My pork belly was perfect but the Mahi came with some chilis I accidentally ate, thinking it was one of the many bell peppers mixed it, I guzzled down even more water. Oops. They don't joke about their peppers. The portion sizes are huge. They're pretty famous here from what I can tell, the line was significantly longer than the rest of the trucks around and I highly recommend trying if you're in the area. read more

There are two food truck courts in Hana town practically across from each other just off Hana Hwy a short walk from the Hana Maui Resort. One of the more popular trucks is Ae's Thai. The family loves Thai so it was a natural choice. There was a special of crispy pork and papaya salad which I chose. This was a winner! The pork had a crisp shell and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The salad was refreshing and the dressing that came with it was amazing. It came with a very large scoop of rice. My wife and I were able to share this. We of course ordered our standards of pad see ew and pad Thai. No complaints on the pad see ew but the pad Thai was lacking sauce as there was a clump of noodles that had none. That was the one dish not finished. Prices seem decent for the amount of food packed into the plates. Would go again if I craved Thai. read more

Very fast and open for dinner, huge portions! The menu may seem a bit pricey at first but the portions are fitting for a large appetite or for splitting if you aren't too hungry. The coconut mahi came with fresh green papaya salad and 4 large pieces of mahi. Well this was a food truck, a Thai food truck that we spotted in our soul food trucks in there. You pulling a parking lot in circles right back around to the street and it's got a pretty decent amount of parking. There's about six or seven food trucks and one actual restaurant on the property. I had the vegetarian curry which was mixed vegetables and rice, if it had tofu, would have been much better. It came with Jasmine rice sauteed vegetables in a mild curry and it was pretty good. It very mild though. Usually when I get a curry dish, I want the dish to have a little bite to it. But that's fine. It was different and I also got a Thai tea which pretty much tasted like all the other Thai teas but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The prices are not too bad. This could be a little pricey if you're from the Midwest. Otherwise it's probably around a high end of average. They have many dishes for regular meat eaters and only a limited few for vegetarians. I'm leaving all this food is pretty good. I didn't see anyone frowning up a pushing their plates away when I sit down to eat out at the picnic tables. We arrived in Hana on MLK holiday. Hana in general has a lack of sit down restaurants. Everything closes early in this small jungle town and it's town gets sustained by food trucks. We drove all the way out to Huli Huli chicken by the beach to find out they were closed. We continued into town and saw a group of 4-5 food trucks closed. We got gas at Texaco and went across the street to Hasegawa general store to get snacks as we thought we were out of luck for dinner for the night. The lady in Hasegawa told us to go up the block at a small grocery store and cook for ourselves. We might just have to. We continued on to check into our AirBNB and then decide. We drove just down the block and saw a bunch of food trucks with people!! Ae's Thai Kitchen was one of them! YAY! Filled with happiness that we didn't have to cook in our rental home, we quickly ordered. They were out of the coconut crusted Mahi Mahi so I went with the pork belly stir fry. My hubby ordered the broccoli beef. We also got a Thai iced tea. We were so ready to chow down! The wait was a long time though, almost 30 mins. Pork belly was overly SALTY! The whole dish was way too salty it was actually hard to bear burning on my tongue. Thai iced tea was watered down. Broccoli beef was actually edible and not bad. I know beggars can't be choosers. There's alot of Thai food trucks in maui but this one is the one to try. Pad se ew had decent amount of 鑊氣. If the kids are finishing it up quick, that's telling you it's legit. Coconut crusted mahi had a few bites that were fishy but it's mostly very tasty. The toasted coconut bits really work with the mahi on this one. This place gets lots of good reviews so I'm wondering If we had a "one off" experience. As folks mentioned, this is one food truck in a group of trucks in Hana. There are picnic benches outside and looks like there is one port o potty. The food: we got the shrimp pad Thai and it was VERY salty, inedible salty. I couldn't taste pad Thai, it tasted just like salt. The coconut mahi mahi and papaya slaw were great! BUT the rice was literally uncooked. I finally worked up the nerve to go back to say something about the rice, and the employee admitted that the "new girl" scooped the rice that was cooking instead of the rice that was done. Ok, she gave me a scoop of cooked rice and...it was mushy! Like stuck in a clump mushy. I'm not sure how to screw up plain, white rice, especially if you have a rice cooker. It was about $40 for 2/3 of one of the plates being good and edible. There are not a ton of options in Hana but maybe try something else.... read more

I think out of all the places we ate in Hawaii, this had to be the most "meh". Everything in Hana pretty much closes really soon. At first, I wanted to get Thai food at a sit down restaurant, but the problem was I got carried off standing on the beach and listening to the waves crash so the place that we wanted to go to closed. Thus, took us to this place where there's a lot of food trucks right off the main road. After looking at all of the food trucks, I decided to get food here. I saw the menu and got interested in such a peculiar menu item... the mahi mahi fish and chips. I mean, it's a Thai Kitchen, so what can they do to change a mahi mahi fish and chips? Did they try to do something to change it? Bring in Thai flavors to the normal fish and chips? Nope. The fish and chips was just mahi mahi, which yeah of course, but then the batter itself wasn't the best? It wasn't crispy the whole way, and to be honest I thought it was a loss of opportunity. It was pretty simple. Fish and chips, that's it. Don't know why this was on the menu of a Thai food truck though. I was expecting something different but was disappointed. So I probably would say to either try another food truck, or find elsewhere for dinner. read more

We dined at this place while traveling to Haleakala on the road to Hana. There's a bunch of food trucks in this place with different cuisines with benches spread around. Parking can be a little difficult to get depending on the crowd. The food's decent, we got the chicken pad Thai and a special entree of the day as Mahi Mahi with basil. I asked for a side of fries instead of the full fish and chips and I was charged $10 for a side of fries which I thought was exorbitantly pricey. We were the second people to order food from them that day. We shared the Thai pork rice dish with papaya salad since it seemed like a good deal. It smelled great but tasted just okay. The pork belly was pretty bland without the sauce and the papaya salad had no spice but was very sweet. The young girl who took our order and called when our order was up, wasn't very friendly.
