My beautiful girlfriend enjoying the Ae's burger

The Ae's burger was pretty good and the fries were excellent, plus you cant beat the location. Beautiful spot

We arrived in Hana in late afternoon and this food truck was recommended by a local. They had a long list of items on their menu including noodles, curry and salads. We got Pad See Ew and pumpkin curry with fish. The food portion was big. Pad see ew was freshly cooked and nicely seasoned. Pumpkin curry came with a generous portion of pumpkin and fish slices. The fish was not fresh though, as I could tell from the texture that it was frozen. There were a few outdoor benches for dinning a small parking lot. Overall, I'd give a five star for portion and taste but freshness of fish can be improved.

Combo - coconut mahi mahi, fried pork belly, papaya salad, rice
Daniel L.

Giant portions but taste was okay. Fried foods (pork belly and mahi mahi) were overcooked and chewy, papaya salad needed more citrus and spice, and drunken noodle also needed more spice. It's probably a good enough Americanized Thai flavors. Also, eating outside the truck is impossible given the thousand flies.

Ae's Thai Kitchen is located in an area with other food trucks. There is plenty of outdoor seating but not much shade. The bay is about a 5 minute drive which may be a better place to eat since I didn't notice any restrooms in this location either. The food was delicious and the portions are sizable (which is a good thing imo)! I'm happy with their vegan options! I got drunken noodles and veggie egg rolls which were both good! The egg rolls were crunchy and flavorful. I wish they put tofu or some plant based meat with their vegan options because then it is just vegetables and noodles. Still a good place if you are craving Thai Food in Hana!

No ! A big No ! we had a few different things from the food carts in the pod and were still hungry and decided to get the pad Thai from them. It's hard to get a Pad Thai wrong especially if you are a Thai restaurant and I cant begin to tell , how bad this one was . Portion sizes are huge and pricing was ok and hence the three stars , but If I am in the area again ,I am going to have to skip this one .

The garlic mahi mahi was perfect- I don't know how they did the garlic, but it needs no additional condiments or anything. It's just perfect. The texture is perfect, the quantity is perfect. Highly recommend.

Delicious Shrimp Tom Yum and Pad Thai

THE BEST Shrimp Tom Yum I've had this far in my life! My husband agreed too! This broth was INSANE! Still thinking about it 2 day after leaving Hana. Haven't been able to find another like it on the island. I ordered it at a level 5 spice and it was spicy hut could finish. My husband's Pad Thai was also very delicious and flavorful. If you're in Hana, this place is a must visit! We will forever remember this overall experience.

Had a simple pad thai and pad see ew when I had to go to Hana! A lot of places were closed but thankfully they were open and feeding the people that day. Really filling plates! - Miguel Morales Photography

Conveniently located in a little food truck pod with parking/seating

Hana is lucky to have a few great Thai food spots, and this is definitely one of them. My friends who live in Hana recommended it and I'm always down for Thai! I opted for the Pumpkin Red Curry with Chicken and wow-- it was SO good. It was spicy, had tons of vegetables, chicken and pumpkin chunks! I would literally drive to Hana to have it again! It came in a much larger bowl than I expected. They are right in town in a little food truck pod area with ample parking and seating. We went at night so they had cute lighting and it was a great pitstop after a long day at the beach! My boyfriend had the Pad See Ew, which he said was ok, hence the 4 stars. I will definitely be back to try more next trip out there!

Be sure to watch for the sign as you approach - we drove by the first time and came back to make it into the parking lot. The person taking orders was helpful and warned us right away that they were out of curry. The person who makes it measures from her heart, won't share her recipe, and was out shopping. We shared the fried rice with chicken and some spring rolls. It was all so delicious, and fun to sit on the deck and watch the road and town while relaxing after the crazy road. My real praise starts a couple hours later. As we made it to our next stop, I remember that I had never taken my bag off the back of the chair back at the restaurant! I called as soon as we had a phone signal again, and the gentleman who answered the phone assured me right away that he'd seen it and was keeping it safe. I told him we'd be back for it the next day, and he told me what time he'd be there. Luckily for me, hubs drove back alone the next day (he loves the road, and it's more fun for him without me panicking from the passenger seat). The man at the restaurant said he'd tried to get our attention as we left, and again when we drove by after visiting the shore! I was so grateful to have my stuff back, and be able to board our plane the next day with my id. P.S. - the food and service was 5 stars even if they hadn't helped with my mix up later!

As we found with our visit, despite the rundown look to some, it is definitely worth a stop. After perusing some of the other shops (grabbed some awesome baked coconut candy!) initially although Jen's food looked quite good, I was holding out to get my greasy spoon fix in at the shrimp truck back in Kahului. However, as we climbed into the car, the delicious smell emanating from the shack was just too much to overcome. So we climbed back out and grabbed some delicious shrimp pad Thai. As you can expect the operation is pretty no-frills. However, nothing helps to cap off a long day of winding through the Hana Highway like some greasy spoon Thai food. As for the food itself, it was pretty delicious and the shrimp were fresh and tasty. So take a stop at Jen's to stretch your legs and get your Thai fix in.

I haven't had pad Thai in Thailand (yet), growing up in Los Angeles eating in Thai town, Alhambra/Monterey park china towns, San Francisco/Manhattan china towns... I have to say this pad Thai was so delicious! It wasn't the ambience or fact that I was in vacation- my wife and I Jen's food was simply the best Thai cooking we've had in a while! Will definitely be back in the future trips!

Well no bad guys ever showed up, and the hucksterism was pretty low key. The excitement was not to be had either but it was obvious that these trucks are feeding a lot of people. If they were only able to lower their prices even a little they could be feeding even more but I guess their overhead is probably pretty high even for a parked truck. Anyway I was expecting a bit lower price scale, but it is what it is. So .. For fifteen bucks plus tax and tips I got the seared salmon. The fish was nicely cooked, I enjoyed it. The vegetables were pretty meh but did help bring more of the sauce to the palate. Yes, the sauce was good, right on the verge of too much soy, but they did a good job keeping it balanced. The salmon portion size was small, but not insultingly tiny. Could have been a bit larger for the $15, the value is not there only if you compare to what you make at home, otherwise it's probably disappointedly normal. When you get your six inch diameter bowl you will see what I mean. The heap of rice made for good entertainment feeding the chickens. You're discouraged from feeding them so I just sat the bowl down behind the coffee guys trailer and watched them pig out. It is not exactly "Fast" food here, they are actually cooking the meal while you wait. I had my order in 12 minutes though, exactly how long she said it would take.

We got there about 1.5 hours before they closed and once we arrived, it took a while for someone to come out from the back. We then realized they were getting many to-go pick up orders back to back so it seemed like business was booming for them. Eventually, our server did hand us the menus with the specials for the day. It's a very small restaurant with very limited seating indoors but we were the only patrons so it didn't feel crammed. There's $5 parking directly in front or you can park a bit farther away for some free spots. For starters we split the spring rolls, pretty good nothing extraordinary. I got the Tom Yum soup with chicken and my partner got the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. Honestly, we could've gotten away with splitting the second meal because the serving was way bigger than we expected. Nonetheless, the soup was delicious and had so many different vegetables in it that I lost track. What I enjoyed most about the fried rice was it contained browned cashews and I think that really sold it for me. I like crunchy textures like nuts and i feel that it balanced out the usual softness of the shrimp. It seems like a lot of people don't dine in, rather they just come to pick up their food and head out. Either way, I'd recommend trying it out if you like Thai Food. They had many specials going on and a good variety to choose from.
