Café Des Amis ended up being one of our only dining options in Paia as we wandered through town late at night while most of the restaurants and shops were already closing down. From the moment we walked in, they greeted us warmly and were incredibly kind and welcoming. Cafe des Amis is on the main thoroughfare in the cute town of Pa'ia. With an outdoor patio vibe, the main seating area is a covered outdoor space with gravel floor. Daughter ordered the Mediterranean crepe which came with vegetables, feta cheese and pesto ($20.50). Unfortunately, it was so salty she couldn't finish it. I got the kalua pork with goat cheese crepe ($20.50) which was delicious. The combination of the habanero salsa offset the creaminess of the goat cheese. Our server, a young man, provided standoffish service and seemed only happy once he presented us the bill with the button to choose a tip option. Otherwise, he wasn't very available. Not sure if I'd go back given other options in the area. read more

After a long day driving at road to Hana, we made a pit stop to Paia to grab some food. We stumbled upon cafe des amis as we were walking along the streets but have also heard that their savory crepes were worth trying so we decided to stop by. The restaurant was tucked away near an ice cream shop, and had outdoor patio seating that was covered. We ordered a savory crepe, which I did really enjoy. The consistency of the crepe resembled almost like a quesadilla. It was cheesy, filling and tasty. I did not enjoy the chicken curry as much. Maybe it was my assumption that the curry would be more like an Indian style curry but I didn't notice as much of the Indian spice that I'm typically used to for this dish. The spices really reminded me of what they'd use in a Mexican dish like in a burrito bowl. We also ordered a peach/raspberry smoothie (not pictured) but it was more tarte than I would usually like. Overall, this restaurant was not a bad find for a quick bite to eat after a long day and the service was quick on a Tuesday afternoon but I probably would only order the savory crepes if I were to come back. read more

This is one of the place you must try when you're in Paia. The ambiance is relaxing and very laid back. You can get crepes and you can get curries and by the way they also makes really phenomenal lattes! I've had the Maui Grass Fed Beef Curry that I quite enjoyed. The beef were tender and you can also ask for two different chutneys which is mango and habanero chutneys. Portion was generous, prices was reasonable and service was friendly. Searching for a restaurant in Paia and stumbled upon this one on Google. It seemed interesting since the cuisine offered a mix between Indian and Mediterranean. Luckily, we arrived during Happy Hour so I took advantage and ordered one of their specialty cocktails--the Lillikoi Margarita. It didn't disappoint. For my meal, I got the Chicken Curry & Rice wrap. I felt that the mango chutney side wasn't needed as it already had a kick on its own. I also ended up asking for more cucumber raita as the side they offered only lasted me half the wrap. The server was nice enough to give me more at no additional charge. I really enjoyed my time here. We sat by the table directly next to the sidewalk so it was a good seat to people watch if you're into that. If i had stayed at Paia longer, I would've gone back to order something else since I left highly satisfied. read more

Love their crepes! We come here for their Breakfast Ham, Egg and Cheese Crepe. It comes with salad and sour cream. My husband and I share and we get the Strawberries and Cream for sweets. Yum! We have also gotten Banana and Chocolate or sub with Nutella. Another great option for sweets. They also have good mochas, iced or hot. There is outdoor seating as well as indoors. Service is good. This tastes like a combination between a curry and a breakfast burrito. The spices make it warming and flavorful while the butternut squash and coconut add creaminess and sweetness. The portion is generous and can be shared between 1-2 people. - vegetable curry bowl (8/10): carrot, cauliflower, and peas in a Tamil curry with a side of rice. This is a hearty and comforting meal. The flavors are similar to the butternut squash curry but this one is slightly less sweet. I personally liked the butternut squash one better but both are very tasty. - vegan crepe (8/10): buckwheat crepe filled with a lentil and tomato stew with sides of salad and hummus. This was a unique take on a crepe as I have not seen other places fill theirs with a stew. While it was a little hard to split, it was a generous portion for one person. The salad adds a pop of freshness and the hummus allows for a creamy relief from the spices. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! This is one of our favorite go to spots on the island. read more

Cafe De Amis was an oasis in this quaint town. We walked in and were greeted by Ginger whose smile said, "Welcome." We both had coffees. The Americano and Caffe Vanilla were delish. This gauzy gem is filled with green plants swaying in the breeze. I love the music playing in the background which added to the beauty of our meal. I haven't even spoke about the food, yet! We tried a beef crepe and a Greek salad. The crepe was cooked just right and the beef inside tender. The Greek salad was plentiful with a tasty dressing. It was most likely the best Greek salad I've had in many moons. We had a wonderful meal. It was perfect. This was such a gift as I am recovering from a surfing accident where I broke my leg in Maui. Do I recommend this place??? Is the pope catholic???? Of COURSE I do. Not only do I recommend this place but I go out of my way to make sure when any guests come to Maui they come here! I just adore the savory crepes. Specifically the ones that make me feel most truly alive and overwhelmed with joy are the mediterranean veggie, feta, pesto and the pork, salsa ones. The little side salad always throws me for an extra whirlwind of happiness. The happy hour is good and the sweet crepes you can't go wrong. The SITTING is so adorable. Tourist trap. One of the staff members initially snapped at us for asking a question about the seating. Without really listening. I think they may have been overwhelmed from it being busy. Slow service overall but they at least warned us that the the service was going to be slow. Our waiter brought utensils and water to the table and we had to serve ourselves water and place the utensils where they needed to go. I wouldn't really say that we received much service. The guy was nice which I gave the place 2 stars for and the ambiance was great. I ordered the mahi curry and it wasn't good. It was a super grainy off putting texture. It was served with a giant cinnamon stick which was odd. I'm not going to eat a cinnamon stick. My friends were also disappointed with their food. One ordered a chicken wrap and got a beef wrap and the other ordered a chicken curry and was unimpressed. The portions were large so you could share one dish. I walked in at 3:30 when no one was in the restaurant and I stood in the middle, waiting for an employee to take my order or tell me to take a seat somewhere. But every single one of them ignored me for a good 15 minutes. A new customer finally told me that I can grab a seat anywhere and I waited even longer before they brought me a menu. But I watched them bring a menu to the two new tables that walked in well after I did. I finally got to order and by this time it's been a solid 45 minutes before anybody helped me and that's just absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe the service in this place. Waiting 45 minutes for one order is absolutely ridiculous. And then when I went up to go pay for my one drink, some girl gave me a check for over $100 and she was like yeah it's already ready but the things that she's trying to charge me for are not the things that I ordered. read more

We also had Banana toffee caramel crepe and Mango Pineapple smoothie -- just loved it. I would say that it would uplift your mood instantly . The portion meal was perfect for two people. Specializing in crepes and Indian curries, this place is outstanding! Homemade dressing and salsa and chutney. This is a gem in a small town. Greek salad was Good, but the outstanding part was the dressings that were homemade. The lemon tahin dressing is green and looks just like the spicy salsa but obviously is a different sauce altogether and the other one was kind of a balsamic vinegar which was good but the limit the hein is outstanding! The curries are great with the habanero salsa or the chutney. The Kahula pork crepe has some habanero sauce (homemade)on side of it and a served with some sort of whip goat cheese which is outstanding. Desert crepe was chocolate with bananas and toffee sauce with homemade whip cream. Delightful! read more

This place is so great. Shared the Mediterranean platter appetizer, and had the Mahi Mahi curry. I had it with the habanero chutney. Divine combination. It came with the mango chutney but I recommend asking for the habanero chutney if you like spicy food. It is delicious. Also, the flatbread on the platter. Amazing. I could eat a whole plate of that. The food, so many healthy delicious options. I will be back. My friend lives here and she eats here all the time. I can see why. We all had the lilikoi margaritas , so amazing. The crepe also tasted very good but we only gave a three stars because the banana slices were cut to thin. There was barely half a banana in the crepe! It took us getting up and asking for a glass of water to even be acknowledged that we were there. We ordered literally one appetizer plate to share and one crepe and waited over an hour to get the appetizer, it was SHOCKING. We get that the kitchen gets backed up, but it wasn't crowded and honestly, the biggest problem was that the waitress never even came to check in on us, not even once. This young, thin brunette girl was so passive aggressive and rude she should not be in this job. It just created a bad vibe for the whole experience.
