My sister was visiting and we wanted something low key. Stopped by right before closing on a Friday night. I can be a creature of habit so we decided to try Bistro Gourmandise for something different. The woman that helped us was so helpful and friendly. We were both debating and she gave her honest feedback. I wish I got her name and the receipt only says cashier. I ordered the salad with salmon and my sister ordered a crepe with chicken. I crave salmon once in a while so it was nice to see on the menu; We both enjoyed our meals and had leftovers. She raved the next day about how good hers was as leftovers. They have tables right next to the truck too. It's tucked between Bistro Gourmandise and the Thai truck. It was quiet and chill when we were there. Definitely depends on what's going on in Cannery. Sometimes there's entertainment. Definitely an easy spot to add to the rotation for a quick and easy bite for there or takeout. read more

Delicious crepe. This time I tried the pistachio hazelnut sweet crepe. I love how their crepe has a good chewy texture, definitely done right. Can't go wrong with pistachio and hazelnut/nutella combo for any dessert! $20 for this is kinda steep though. I can see it being $15 or $16 for a thin crepe, and not even got whipped cream on top, not sure about $20... but I guess that's the Maui price. read more

One of the food trucks in the new food court in Lahaina's Cannery Mall, and a little different from the norm for Maui. Free parking outside, nice chairs and AC inside, and a number of trucks to choose from, with more on the way. I decided to try Bistro Gourmandise because there were no customers so it was going to be a quick lunch. I ordered the Margharita with cheese, baby tomatoes and basil in a buckwheat crepe. It was ready in 6 minutes and was accompanied with a side of green salad with dressing. I found the buckwheat a little overwhelming and would have preferred the normal crepe however that is just a personal preference. There are a number of drinks to choose from too. Unfortunately they don't offer a Kamaaina discount, they are catering to tourists only. Update: Thank you for explaining why you aren't offering a Kamaaina discount, I hope your business does well and you can reconsider it at a later date. Very nice food truck inside the Cannery Mall, another great option for lunch, afternoon, and dinner in Lahaina! The crêpes were delicious! I had a smoked salmon one which was exquisite, it came with a lovely mixed green salad on the side.The savory crêpes are made with buckwheat flour which is the proper way, gives them a delicious, delicate, hearty flavor. I then had a sugar butter lemon crêpe, which was to die for, the dough was so light and delicious, might have to go back tomorrow, I am obsessed! I was too excited, and did not take pics, but will add some to my review next time I go! The owners are super friendly and used to work in the best restaurants in France and around the world! The owners are so full of Aloha. We arrived just before 7P, when they close. but said he'd be happy to serve us. The French-training of the owners is evident. I had the chicken and mushroom savory crepe and the berry crepe for dessert. SO ONOLICIOIS! While the pricing is a little more than I expected, the rent is pretty high at the Cannery so I didn't mind spending a few more dollars. I was told by a local to give this place a try. I LOVE crepes! However I was soooo disappointed in the service and though the crepe quality was good it was so covered in what can only describe as commercial jam squeezed from a bottle that it was hard to enjoy it. I had to scrape so much off just to be able to enjoy it at all. The biggest disappointment however was the truly deplorable service. After waiting several minutes for the staff to notice me I placed my order (and left a tip expecting good service) I was told it would be about 5 minutes so I just stepped around to front of the truck to wait for them to call me. I waited patiently. I could see the girls working through the open windows and I was visible to them the entire time. After seeing another customer come up and buy a drink I decided to walk back to the window where I ordered only to see my crepe sitting there on the counter for I have no idea how long which means that other customers were lingering over my food while they ordered and paid. My crepe was barely warm. Still the girls never even looked up. They weren't busy at all so I'm not sure what they'd excuse is for providing such disappointing service!!! Sad! read more

Highlight of the food in Maui. Honestly as much as we loved Hawaii, it is so hard to find good food spots. This is definitely the best food we had during our trip. Such a refreshing stop and sitting area after spending all day on the beach. Food choices are amazing, so many options. My wife and I both tried a savory and sweet crepe and it hit the spot! The chef is amazing and knows his stuff! You can tell these are authentic French crepes as soon as you take a bite and totally worth the cost ( honestly surprised it doesn't cost more!) The chef's story is so epic: growing up in France, learning how to bake French pastries in the best Parisian restaurants , to moving to the US with almost nothing, and then after starting a life in Hawaii he nearly died in the Lahaina fire. He is the kindest person we met on our trip and I am so happy to see him and other Hawaiians restarting their life after such a tragedy. This is resilience at its finest! If you don't check out this place then you really missed out! We might go back to Maui just for the crepes. read more
