Packed safely for the drive out to the beach!

Big fan of Ippy's Hawaiian. Saw an IG post this morning for The Dizzy Pita. We're on the island so we had to check it out! Walk up window with a self serve kiosk with Philip right behind it to answer any menu questions we had. Super friendly as always. Ordering was quick and easy. Philip said we're welcomed to take a seat at Ippy's Hawaiian if we wanted to dine in. But we had plans to watch the sunset. It was all packaged very well. Everything was still warm by the time we got to the beach. My bf got the gyro. Said the crisp veggies were amazing and plenty of meat but lacked sauce. I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was delicious! The toum was sooo good. We also had the fries. They were good but wished it came with a side of Tzatziki or maybe sprinkled with cucumber, tomato, and red onion. Honestly, can't wait to try more!

Chicken Shawarma plate with toum (garlic sauce) $16.95...the sauce was fantastic!

If you are craving Mediterranean food, this place has you covered! They clearly know that absolutely everything is better when covered with the tangy garlicky deliciousness that is toum! The chicken shawarma plate was slathered with it and my tastebuds were happy. The hubs got the beef & lamb plate and it was absolutely delicious as well. It's a take-away spot so there is really no service or ambiance to speak of BUT the same owner has the spot a few doors down (Ippy's Hawaiian BBQ) and they were totally cool with us enjoying our meal in their spacious indoor dining area.

The dizzy fries has Feta, touched, we added the beef & lamb which is very tasty!

"TOUM" is OUTTAH THIS WORLD DELICIOUSLY YUMMY!! "BEEF & LAMB" is SOOO DELICIOUSLY YUMMY! need to taste the rest of the menu like yesterday!! Do yourself a favor if you really love garlic.... get extra Toum, you won't regret dining here!

    Massive Gyro!

Best new restaurant on Hawaii Island! It's as if Poseidon came out of the Pacific and made a Gyro for me himself! The portion size was huge and well worth the $15. The garlic sauce (Taum) was amazing. Service was top notch. Everything we wanted and more. We will be regulars!

Chicken Shawarma and some fancy fries (I forgot the name)

I was so looking forward to dining on delicious BBQ . we had to order our meals as take out online because of young children , so we looked to order at 4:30 pm . so i went online and believe it or not I was incredulous that they were sold out of Every single BBQed Dish pork, chicken, ribs etc I was so disappointed and in disbelief That I called the restaurant and sure enough it was true! shocking for a BBQ RESTAURANT to run out of BBQ! because our hearts were set on having their food , so burgers were ordered by the family and i ordered the ONO grilled with a side of cole slaw and grilled pineapple, and O NO the fish was so tough it was difficult to cut with a knife... it was tastless and chewy ... threw away half of it ! It was not the fresh Ono I expected and love! hopefully this does not happen often !!! I understand that Restaurants have an off night sometimes ... but this was SO SAD !!! in addition there was something (maybe a spice or something on the grill ) on either the fish and/or the pineapple , that I had an allergic reaction to ! my tongue swelled and was extremely uncomfortable!!! I have never had that happen before... it is sad that the cornbread and the coleslaw were the best part if the meal! The burgers were enjoyed so that boosted my score !

One of the best dining experiences we had during our 3-week trip through Hawaii!…read more I had been looking for Mediterranean food through our stays in Oahu and Maui, but wasn't able to find any til we landed here on Big Island. We went during sunset and it was sooooo beautiful. We ordered: * the 3 dips - loved their muhammara!! Plus the bread is so squishy and soft it absorbs the flavors of the dips so well * burrata salad - very refreshing and well seasoned. I believe it's peach or melon served with it, a very nice touch * grilled octopus - loved the tomato(?) sauce it was served with, and the way they grilled was perfection. Reminded me of the octopus I'd have in Kerekennah, a small island off the coast of Tunisia. Fresh & well seasoned. * Cacio e pepe + chicken: really appreciated how they noticed my husband and I were sharing everything, so they had split the pasta into two bowls. Deliciously made, with it had a bit more sauce tho and that the chicken wasnt so dry. * inside out smores: YUMMY. loved the combo of the graham cracker ice cream with the roasted marshmallow and chocolate sauce + inside the marshmelllw too. In all we spent $190 for 2 people including tax and tip (no drinks). Sure a bit on the pricier side, but we had been spending $90-110 for very average or not even good meals across Hawaii anyways, so didn't seem too bad. Parking is free! Valet only, but give your ticket when you get the check to get a 3-hour validation stamp.

We added chicken to it. Drinks were phenomenal as well. -.5 stars since the Smores Deconstructed was wayyyy too sweet. But forgivable as it was probably a kids dish. Next time, probably would the server to avoid the chocolate sauce poured over the dish. Unnecessary and wasteful. But dinner, ambiance, and drinks more than made up for it. Would love to be back.

However, as a vegetarian, I felt like we really just had one option for our entrée. We ended up getting full off starters and sides. The only main we could really do was the mushroom pot pie. It was good and comforting, just not anything super memorable. Lastly, I don't mind spending on a nice meal, but a few things felt a little pricey for what they were. For example, the tomato and blue cheese salad with capers was $25, which felt a little steep for essentially five slices of tomato. That being said, everything tasted very fresh and the quality of ingredients was definitely there. Overall, still a good experience, especially because of the service.

Used to be consistently good, but three months ago and again yesterday--a Tuesday, not a weekend…read morenight, and early evening--there were many more diners than usual so they had to open up the room next door, a former art/antique gallery with 4-5 tables, rather dark and fusty, to seat everyone. One problem was there weren't nearly enough servers, and they hardly ever came into our room. So on our earlier visit, we were there for nearly three hours. There were two of us, both adults, with no special requests or concerns, and we shared a caprese salad, I had a glass of wine, and we each had a pasta entree. Neither of us eats really slowly. AND we had reservations. So...three hours? We sat at a bare table for half an hour before we even got silverware and napkins, but worse, although the salad was good, as usual, our entrees were uncharacteristically bad. In each each case, the pasta was ok, cooked to the right doneness, but the sauce on spaghetti bolognese" was a small amount of marinara sauce sprinkled with a few tablespoons of crumbled ground mystery meat that had no discernible seasoning, not even salt and pepper. We had noticed that the description on the menu had changed from meat sauce to marinara sauce and crumbled Italian sausage, but the meat didn't taste anything like Italian sausage. The spaghetti with meatballs was somewhat better, but the meatballs were overcooked and tough on the outside, and underseasoned. We were hoping for a better meal yesterday, and yes, we had reservations, but after being seated once again at a bare table in the auxiliary room, and waiting for 25 minutes, we were thinking we were going to get lousy service and bad food again, so we left. The only reason I'm giving the restaurant three stars is that in the past, on weekdays, when the restaurant was always, until last night, less crowded, with no overflow room required, the service and the food were much better, at least four stars. I hope the chef and other staff read this and it's a wakeup call...if you can't handle crowds, in the kitchen or in the dining rooms, limit your seating so you can do everything well, like you used to, or your regular customers like us are going to go away.
