Within 20 minutes, there were groups of patrons waiting for a table. It got really crowded inside. We ordered sashimi (came with hamachi, salmon, tuna), New York strip kushiyaki, and the black cod. The beef tasted very high quality, and the fish was so fresh. The sashimi pieces were quite generous too. The black cod is slightly on the sweeter side for me but still enjoyable and so melt-in-your mouth tender. The staff was very busy, and they looked understaffed. The space is a bit small, so it can fill up quickly. It's definitely worth trying though! High quality food without the high prices. Glad we were able to make it here during our vacation.

The meal and setting were both fantastic! We asked for a sunset view table when we booked, and they gave us a prime table on the edge of the grass. Keep in mind there aren't really any traditional indoor tables, so pretty much every table has the ocean view. It's just that some tables are closer to the ocean. We started out with some cocktails. While my wife didn't love the Mai Tai they made, I had a couple of great ones including a smoked old fashioned. The kids liked the fresh juices they ordered. Our appetizers were the pull-apart bread (which was great with the lava salt butter), and the lion's mane tempura mushrooms. I can't recall having tried lion's mane mushrooms before, but they were excellent. They were very meaty also. We also ordered the famous garlic fried rice, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I eat a lot of fried rice, and this was one of my favorite versions. I loved the crispy parts, and it was surprisingly spicy. They were able to make a half portion also. Please note it has fish flakes already mixed in, so this dish cannot be made vegetarian. For entrees, I had the fresh catch of the day (mahi mahi). The dish was fantastic, and the best mahi mahi dish I've ever had (and much better than the one I had at Monkeypod). My wife had the cabbage and tofu dish, and she said it was tasty. They also have a kids' (keiki) menu, and my kids enjoyed their rice dishes. I think the only part of the meal I didn't love the was the dessert. It was a lilikoi chocolate mousse, and it was nothing special. The price was definitely very high (even by Hawaii standards), but I didn't regret it. The service was awesome, and the sunset views were glorious. At sunset, you will see a bunch of diners going to the grass area for photo ops. This was my favorite meal of our Hawaii vacation.

Paired with their incredible butter, it's a stellar start to the meal. * Kushi Oysters: These came pre-dressed with a seaweed topping. While I usually prefer dressing my own oysters (or having a standard vinaigrette on the side to compare), these were still wonderfully briny and delicious. * The Famous Garlic Fried Rice: It's good, and we completely finished it, though it wasn't the absolute best fried rice I've ever had. However, the presentation is genius ... it's double-plated, which kept it steaming hot throughout the entire meal. * The Beef Tenderloin: Cooked to an absolute perfect medium-rare, served with a sweet, savory glaze and very yummy broccoli. * The Ahi Kasuyaki: The absolute star of the night!
