Susie is the best chef on the island in my experience. A former chef at Four Seasons, she now single-handedly creates masterpieces with every amazing culinary delight. Everything is fresh, local, and organic, so not only are the dishes incredibly delicious, they are healthier and more nutritious than anything I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Sadly, this Saturday is her last day cooking here for awhile. She will be doing a remodeling project and will be closed indefinitely. Her many regular customers, including myself, are all in mourning. I wish there were a way to capture fantastic flavors here to share. For now, a photo will have to suffice. My daughter who has specific food restrictions discovered a place where the chef/owner Susie could accommodate her food needs. The food is fresh and healthy. One of the best meals we have ever had. She was so kind and customized our order with extra ginger in the chicken bibimbap, fresh seasonal avocados. Everything was full of flavor, fresh and delicious. Excellent place for anyone with allergies - she specifically does not use nuts. Our young children loved the kimchi fried rice which she specifically made non spicy for us. She let the kids pick lillikoi off the vine and gave us a cup of fresh lillikoi to eat. This is one of my favorite all time meals. Let me say, as someone who has lived and spent a ton of time on the big island, I feel so sad that I didn't know this existed until recently. I had a friend visit the island and tell me about it with an urgent insistence that I go. On my visit a few weeks after this conversation, I planned my day around this meal (it has limited hours) and it was SO WORTH IT!! The food was fresh, the lemonade blew me away (and I am not a lemonade gal), and Suzy is just as sweet and wonderful as can be. This place is AMAZING. We drove about an hour from Hilo to get here - after we randomly met two people from Seattle who recommended it! Whatever is on the menu - HAVE IT! It's seasonal, but of course it's Hawai'i so what isn't going to be amazing?! There was only ONE WOMAN cooking and she served us so quickly and it was so fresh!! Wow. This place is so much better than I expected. I have been wanting to try this place for a few months but it was never open when I was in the area. The owner is so nice. She told me she's only open Wednesday-Saturdays 12-6/7pm. Her phone number is on google when you look up this food truck. You can give her a call to preorder or let her know if you're running late and she's willing to make a few more bowls past closing time. As for the food. I had been looking for more authentic korean food on the island and a place to buy kim chi from that's not korean/hawaiian fusion. I'd say this will be as close as you can get to that for bi bim bap. She had radish kim chi, won bok kim chi and cucumber kimchi. What my friend and I got today was more on the fermented side which is generally how I like my kim chi. Her bibimbap sauce was made with gochujang and iykyk. Like the other reviews have said she tries her best to source locally, which I think is amazing because big island produce, meat and fish will be some of the freshest you'll ever taste. We even asked her about where to get lychee from since our favorite local spot wasnt selling them. She called one her local farmer friends if she knew where to get some. My wife and I decided to stop in Honokaa on the way back from a visit to Akaka falls. The town is very charming with lots of nice shops. But the highlight for us was our early dinner at Harmoni Foods. My wife and I shared a beef bimbibap filled with perfectly seasoned beef, black rice, Japanese Okinawa sweet potato (first time I've had that and it was incredible!), carrots, broccolini, pickled vegetables, an overeasy egg and Korean hot sauce. As I come from Southern California where you can get amazing Korean food this was some of the most amazing I've ever had. It was the best meal we've had in the Big Island! And the freshness of the ingredients certainly made the meal not only tasty but healthy. We also had a very refreshing drink to complement the meal which had the combination of calamansi, turmeric with lemonade. The owner, Susie, is the only one working there and she cooks the meal in a red food cart with a pleasant outdoor patio with tables and benches in front of it. She told us she will open a larger restaurant in the near future right behind where the red food cart is now. She was incredibly friendly and very passionate about the food she prepares! This restaurant is so good that if you happen to be taking Highway 19 it's worth the visit or detour to Honokaa just to dine here. It's really that great! read more

We were on our way to hike Waipio and had to stop by Papa'aloa Joe to pick up some of the best coffee on the island. As we walked back to our car, we noticed the cute red food truck that housed Harmoni Foods and knew we had to stop. Suzy was super friendly and made us feel like family. We split the kimchi grilled cheese and it was absolutely delicious! Boyf is a kimchi enthusiast and Suzy gave us samples of her homemade kimchi. We also loved the fermented hot sauce made from daikon kimchi. We didn't want to eat a big meal before our hike but everyone else was enjoying the gorgeous bibimbap bowls and they looked huge and colorful and fresh. Love that she also offers vegan options. We are so happy that we get to taste food here. The owner is passionate about healthy cooking/food and you can taste the passion in her food. My husband ordered a kimchee grill cheese and I ordered a vegan bibimbap. Never know kimchee would taste so good in a grill cheese sandwich! I ordered the vegan bibimbap with tofu. You can order egg instead of tofu as an option. Can't express how happy it makes me feel having a bowl of colorful veggies. The owner has varieties of homemade kimchi and my personal favorite is the cucumber! My husband keep stealing them from my bowl. Last but not least, we both really respect and appreciate how passionate she is toward a healthy eating. Fruits and vegetables are so fresh and tasty here in Hawaii and there should be more food like this instead of fish and chips or coconut shrimps. Wheelchair accessibility: Her restaurant's layout is on a flat surface with plenty of room to move around. Susie also places a chair out on one of the parking spaces for people who need special assistance. She told me she would only source locally, mostly from small farms, and tries to source as many organic ingredients as possible- even though that means higher costs to run the business.
