stopped by after hiking pololū and craving a sweet treat. had to try the lilikoi tart and it was amazing. lilikoi treats are often hit or miss whether they have a true lilikoi flavor but this hit it out of the park. great sour lilikoi flavored and a fun meringue texture on top. owner was so friendly. adorable little bakery with indoor and outdoor seating.

Try at least one of everything. We selected a variety of breads and pastries and I can't say I had a favorite because they were all scrumptious. Arrive early for the soup of the day. Stop in on a Sunday morning to listen to ukuleles & sing along. The owners were so friendly and knowledgeable. The vibe is "stay a while and just enjoy the aloha spirit."

All organic flour used in their baking. Breads, bagels (on Saturday), pastries, muffins, etc. - also they serve breakfast - had shaksuka today and it was excellent!

So ono! Every time I stop there is a wide assortment of delicious goodies and hardy lite meal options too. Coffee is excellent, and local.

This review is why. We bought two cakes, two mousses and two savory breads. I bought the ladybug because I thought it was cute and I do love raspberry. We go to the car, I am so excited to dig in. I grab the ladybug, and take a bite. Wow that was so good. I kept eating it and each bite got better and better. The chocolate mousse surrounds a delicious raspberry middle that has BLUEBERRIES INSIDE! Absolutely divine. There is hardened chocolate to make the design and the crunch adds to the deliciousness. Every bite was delicious and the worst part was when I finished the lady bug I had no more left:(. The raspberry lingered in my mouth and I got to have the delicious taste in my mouth. I wish I bought more. This was so good and if you like raspberry, this will brighten your day like it did mine. I hope anytime I am in the area they are stocked because this is a delightful light treat that fills you up with yummy goodness!! We got the lilikoi and coconut cake. So delicious!! We also got the mango lilikoi mousse round which I believe was the last one! Such a delicious flavor and the cookie on the bottom was perfection. I tried a bite of my brothers jalapeño ham savory breads and it was so good! The next time I went for a bite he ate it all!! Goodness for the whole family. This shop also has a sweet little chicken out front! My whole experience was beyond wonderful I HAD to write a lovely review! I hope to return soon and try other delicious items on their menu!

All the other menu items "looked" good and I ordered a coconut fruit water thinking it would be absolutely loaded with fruits but....it was extremely underwhelming. I think if you're gonna use AI generated photos you should at least make the actual product you hand paying customers, look like the photo. I got a huge cup of coconut water with 3 slices of kiwi, some blueberries and a couple slices of strawberry(she told me it would have pineapple but it didn't which was ironic because right across the malasada truck there's always the people selling fresh pineapple). The Dubai chocolate strawberry cup I tried on a different occasion was delicious but honestly that's an item that isn't complicated to make so I wasn't surprised. I also wanted an Açaí bowl but sadly they didn't have that available so I can't say much. Y'all should ditch the fancy drinks. Just sell water and canned juice along side with the real money makers, the MALASADAS. Also ditch the AI menu because at this point it's just false advertising for the photos to look so perfect and the product so underwhelming.

In the meantime, I ordered 3 specialty drinks: toasted coconut hot chocolate, chocolate chai latte, Mauka Trail mocha (with non-dairy Mac nut milk), and a Kona Coffee & chocolate gelato milk shake. Every beverage was delicious! The young lady, who made them was very sweet, friendly, and soft spoken. The young lady helping my brother with the sweets was also very nice & friendly. The interior was really cute with a section dedicated to keiki (children). There were tables and a seating area with couches and a little gift shop displaying colorful artwork by local artists all illuminated by interesting lighting. We definitely want to return before we leave to try their gelato. But, we will also pick up more desserts because their baked goods were truly scrumptious, which included Lilikoi pie, flourless chocolate cake, a variety of cannolis, cookies, and Ricotta pound cake. We were on a sugar high but that's vacation in Hawaii for you! Aloha!

Hilo's best kept secret tho I can't keep it a secret any longer!…read more FIrst stumbled upon Baumkuchen Farms 16 months ago when I visited the Big Island from Oahu... scouting where I would like to bring my college reunion group. They were gathering from places like Taiwan , Canada, the continental USA so betcha I wanted to show them only the best! Finding anything outside of downtown Hilo can be a challenge as WIFI gets a little sketch. Baumkuchen Farms is easy to find as they are marked on most Hilo (paper) maps. From the phone calls I made to the first welcome from Danielle who was on site to greet us on our scouting trip we felt welcomed. Danielle met us in the parking lot and guided us to the meeting place of the tour. She gave us a brief overview and showed us the bakery, the bathroom, the gift shop, before escorting us to "the hale" the meeting place under shade. Marcus, proprietor of the Farm with wife Maria, further told us about the rich history of the Baumkuchen estate as well as the products they baked and sold. Loved the tour of the farm where we saw vanilla beans growing in greenhouse, jurassic looking fruit trees and beautiful royal palms. A year later returned with my college friends who were absolutely impressed with the operation. We purchased baumkuchen cake, flavored cooking rock salts, other treats and of course ICE COLD drinks (in fact grabbed a few of these before the tour and after). And we enjoyed the tasty samples. In fact, have since seen these delectable morsels of Baumkuchen at Neiman Marcus in Honolulu at much higher price..! Still, nice to know where I can get more when I run out. Or, will have to take another trip to Hilo and Baumkuchen Farms! Thank you Maria, Marcus, Danielle for your hospitality. Visiting Baumkuchen at the Farm or Hilo Farmers Market is always a highlight on my Hilo trips!
