I eat here once a month. As a vendor at the resort's popup artisan fair for the guests, the deli is convenient, and excellent. Staff is genuinely friendly and efficient. The menu is full of breakfast and all-day sandwiches, fresh and prepared fruit, all kinds of coffee choices smoothies, etc. The portions are huge. Plenty of sweet treats too. Big variety of bottled drinks, packaged snacks, with as many locally sourced as possible. read more

Disappointing and Overpriced: A Captive Audience Deserves Better. When you're staying at a hotel with very limited lunch options, you naturally hope the few available spots will step it up. Unfortunately, this deli completely misses the mark, capitalizing on a captive audience while delivering subpar food at embarrassingly overpriced rates. The menu options are incredibly limited, and what they actually serve feels like an afterthought: * The Sandwiches & "Flatbreads": The sandwiches are noticeably dried out, as if they've been sitting in a cooler for days. Meanwhile, the "flatbreads" are a joke--they look like a minor step up from a childhood Lunchable. * The "Salads": Calling these salads is a stretch. They are $16 for a box of plain leaves with hardly any other ingredients, and they include zero protein at that price point. It is incredibly frustrating to pay premium hotel prices for food that lacks basic effort and freshness. If you are going to trap guests with limited choices, at least offer something decent. This place seriously needs to step it. read more

Minus the shocking expensive prices, this was so good! I asked if I could get an egg and cheese sandwich in a croissant. It was so good. Minus the fact it cost me $13 for this sandwich. I really did enjoy it. 5/5 for my sandwich. Small coffee/ deli shop in Fairmount orchid hotel in Kona. Mocha coffee was okay. Service was 3/5 since they charged me so much just asking if they change the bread choice. read more

Small, casual set up, quick service, good sandwiches. Staff was friendly and helpful, plus you can use cost towards validation for parking (gotta spend $50, save your receipts). Loved the tuna, liked the ham and Gruyère. read more

Good tasty made to order, bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was very good, portions are very big, 2 people can eat off them, also had the the Turkey sandwich for lunch also very good, stacked high and definitely shareable. Again high prices of $16.00 for a bacon egg and cheese, and $18.00 for a turkey sandwich. read more

Cute little shop in the middle of the Fairmont lawn. A great place to buy an iconic rainbow shave ice for a ocean front photo. How does it taste? Not that great to me: just artificial syrup & ice. But who cares, it looks beautiful, and so Hawaiian. read more

A deli located in the Fairmont Orchid. Prices are a bit inflated because it's in the hotel. Got a black coffee and a hot cocoa and both were pretty decent. Nothing special but it gets the job done. read more

Just don't. We had an awful sandwich. Couldn't finish it. Just wish there were better options at the hotel. An expensively bad sando. Just pass..... read more

Ordered the açaí bowl. It's the featured pic on their profile and looks amazing. I'll post a pic so you can see... pretty sure it had been sitting in their display cooler for days. It looked like it had rot bubbles. $14. It was gross do not recommend. read more

Very convenient and thought everything we had from here was good. They also have the best banana bread I've ever had! Sent my husband there every morning for a slice. Very nice staff too! read more

Located at the Fairmont Orchid. Typically priced for its location which is a little pricey. The food is good with decent portions. Multiple items available for breakfast, lunch and snacks. It's walk up counter service style with tables outside by the pool area. read more

Possibly the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Newman's own frozen pizza is better. But I guess I should kind of expect it ordering pizza in Hawaii. The only thing worse then the pizza was the price at 24$. They call this a Margherita pizza but it's just a cheese pie with tomatoes slices on it. Not cooked enough, horrible cheese, dough that tastes and feels like pita bread. ‍ read more

Brown's Deli - Margherita pizza - Delis Near Me - Kohala Coast, Hawaii

Brown's Deli is located right next to the pool. They open up pretty early (6:30 am) which is nice for the early birds who want coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The customer service is good but meh, everything else was mediocre. Of course, everything is overpriced at this resort but I expected better quality food and coffee. I've had the turkey sandwich (3.5/5), veggie wrap (3/5), California roll (2/5), chocolate chip cookie (3/5), and the iced vanilla latte (3/5). Nothing special really. They did have a good special on their tumblers and coffee commuter cups. If you purchased one for $20, your coffee and tea would be discounted if you go back for drinks and you would get the flavored syrup at no charge. The customer service was pretty good and if you purchase something, you have the option to charge it to your room. There are some picnic tables right outside near the pool but no seating area in the deli. Overall an alright spot to get coffee and quick grub. The food quality can be improved but I can't complain too much-if I'm at Brown's Deli, I'm at the beautiful Fairmont Orchid. read more

Good for a quick cuppa coffee and drinks. The banana bread and blueberry muffin are delicious. Staff is super friendly!

Decent deli food, priced a bit high but that's expected if you're in a 5 star hotel! Not too many options for vegetarian/vegan except the Buddha salad, oats, açaí bowl and fruit bowl. Good options for meat eaters. We had the malasadas, which are absolutely delicious. The Buddha salad is ok, my husband loved the breakfast burrito, but the breakfast sandwich was cold and not properly toasted. The açaí bowl is ok, so is the fruit bowl. Bagel and cream cheese with a coffee makes a great breakfast! read more

Overpriced for the quality. I understand resort pricing but the usually comes with higher quality product.

paid $19 for this tuna sandwich (which I expected since it's the fairmont) but I was hoping there would be more tuna for the price. Cute deli, lots of options including alcohol and ice cream. Service was great! read more

Still love Browns-- another shout out to Robert and Maria and others who have reliably engaged us about our lives and experiences. Minus one star as really missing the California Roll that was on the menu for years as well as the fresh fruit smoothies. Can't wait to head back soon. read more

Great deli, Of course, it's in the Fairmont Hotel, it better be great, and it is..if your looking for a bargain, don't come here.

Captive customers and ok food. Prices are what you would expect. My son enjoyed the PB&J several times. Pizzas are shamefully small--imagine if a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza was married and had a wee baby pizza. Best part is it comes in a large pizza box - comical. read more

Prices are steep but it's a resort so it's expected. This deli is right by the pool so it was convenient to walk out from my room to grab a bite to eat. There weren't very many lunch options for non-meat eaters. I got the tuna sandwich which was $16 but it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Kim chi (?) flavored pickle in it, as it elevated the sandwich and made it different from other tuna sandwiches. I wanted to try the banana bread but only the gluten-free one was left. The shop also sells souvenirs, Hawaiian bottled teas, and taro chips. read more

Brown's was a convenient spot to get a bite to eat or snack while hanging at the pool or beach on the grounds of the Fairmont Orchid Hotel. Too convenient, especially if you are a guest here and could say those six magic words: "I'll charge it to the room" Salads, sandwiches, yogurt, espresso drinks, chips, fruit, sodas, water, juice, sushi rolls, pastries, etc. I especially liked their pressed Cuban-style sandwiches; large and tasty. I wasn't so crazy about their California rolls, which were not meaty enough for me. Prices were highish, of course. But for the convenience and location, pretty reasonable. read more

About as straight forward as a hotel associated deli can be. Limited menu and they make it to order. Biggest poke portion I've had in a while. Rest of the party had ham sandwiches and fruit salads and were happy. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. read more

Great spot to grab a relatively inexpensive breakfast before enjoying the resort (or going off the resort). We enjoyed the coffee, iced green tea, and the egg sandwich. Other food items, especially the sweet ones, looked delicious, but all we did was look! Service is friendly, though the length of your wait seems a bit inconsistent. Overall, way better than spending $30+ a person for the sit down breakfast. read more

Everything about this place is "so so" (like another Yelper mentioned). Despite the ridiculously high prices, the staff is very friendly, and I actually enjoyed the Grilled Local Veggie Wrap. Some of the other items were more "deli style" and definitely not worth the pricing. The desserts are actually pretty tasty! The chocolate-dipped strawberries were delicious. A semi-decent place to grab a snack while you're at the Fairmont Orchid. read more

Brown's Deli - Local Grilled Veggie Wrap with Pesto - Delis Near Me - Kohala Coast, Hawaii

This place is such a great option if you are staying at the Fairmont Orchid and don't eat a lot for breakfast or don't want to spend $30 per person. We had the ham/egg/cheese croissant sandwich and so good. Especially what you get for the price right on the beach. read more

This place is a glorified coffee shop, sort of like a step up from a Starbucks. They have great hours, opening early in the morning and staying open until 5 PM. My husband and I appreciated that they were open at 6 AM on the first morning of our stay, when we got up extremely early due to a poor adjustment to the time difference. Most things are pre-packaged and pre-prepared, then just heated up. It's a grab-and-go sort of arrangement. They had vegetarian options, which I appreciated, but nothing was particularly good. I ordered a smoothie, only to find it was made of sugary concentrate rather than fresh fruit. I ordered a pizza, only to find that heating it up just led to me receiving an order of melted cheese with some crust buried beneath. It's very expensive (for what it is) and there's nothing here you can't get from a grocery store or a coffee shop. By our second day, we learned to order room service instead. read more

Decent quick bites and relatives inexpensive in comparison to everything else at the Fairmont. The quiche isn't the best as it had more of a custard texture rather than a quiche. I had the ham, egg, and cheese crossiant and a strawberry/banana/mango smoothie this morning. The crossiant was delicious....very buttery with a good portion of fresh sliced ham and folded egg. Part of the Fairmont Orchid, we ate here for lunch while hanging by the pool then the next day I grabbed a muffin for breakfast. For lunch, had the carved ham and cheddar sandwich with garlic aioli. Served warm and it was delicious and pretty reasonable for a resort, $10. For breakfast, had a simple blueberry muffin which was phenomenal. It was served hot and the blueberries were so fresh they tasted like they were picked earlier that morning. Convenient and somewhat reasonable, you won't be disappointed. read more

Probably the most reasonable place to eat at the Fairmont, besides the bar upstairs at happy hour. Made a pretty good croissant sandwich, but nothing fantastic. You can get a refillable thermos for either hot or iced coffee for $25, and it's totally worth it if you're going to be there for awhile. I was excited for the iced coffee, but the top wouldn't fit on the cup, and kept spilling coffee all over my hand as I walked. Decent food, but nothing special. Good for takeaway or a picnic on the beach. read more

This is the poolside deli at the Fairmont Orchid resort. If you are a guest there, it is a fun and yummy way to have breakfast in the morning. Wander over to the deli, grab some food, then walk 25 steps to a poolside (or beachside) lounge chair and enjoy. Favorite item -- it would have to be the dark chocolate cake w/Macadamia nuts. (Look up "Decadent" on WikiPedia, and you'll see a photo of it!) Their banana bread is also outstanding (ask to have it heated -- goes great with the coffee). Their croissant breakfast sandwiches are also very tasty (personally, I enjoyed these more than the non-croissant ones.) Finally, be sure to say Hello to the Barista, a really friendly guy who was born in Hawaii before it became a state. (He also makes a killer mocha!) read more
