Fresh food! Cooked my steak perfectly. Small portions but very tasty. The desserts weren't the best. However I would recommend them.

This coffee shop is located in a small plaza with a pizza place, taco spot, and Merriman's. The plaza itself has plenty of parking even when it's on the busier side on a weekend morning, so it's not hard to find a spot. Inside the cafe, there's a retail section that sells clothing and small goods, and a separate side to place your order and sit and enjoy your drink. The interior is bright and welcoming with a minimalist vibe, and even when we visited on a weekend morning, it was easy to find seating either indoors or outdoors. Service was wonderful -- we were helped promptly by staff, and my drink came out quickly. I got the black sesame latte with a chocolate chip cookie. I thought my drink was perfect, as the flavor of the black sesame was nutty, pleasant, and just the right amount of sweetness paired with the espresso. The cookie was on the softer/puffier side, and although it's not my preferred texture, it wasn't too bad! To sum up, I really enjoyed dropping by to get coffee here, and I feel like the quality of the drinks at Surf Camp is consistent across their different locations. I'll definitely come back if I ever find myself on Big Island for another trip!

We ordered the americanos, and they were so good -- smooth, bold, and not overly bitter. Just a clean, rich espresso flavor done right. You can tell they care about the quality of their beans and how they pull their shots. They do have a small, simple menu, which I think adds to the charm of a small town. A handful of espresso drinks, teas, and a few breakfast options like bagels and warm pastries. Not a huge selection, but everything feels intentional and well made -- quality over quantity. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has that laid-back Maui vibe where you can sit, sip, and just enjoy the moment. If you're in Paia and need a solid coffee spot without the big chain feel, Story Maui is definitely worth stopping by.

She actually remodeling to be able to do even more. We also had a nibble of her macadamia nut spread and macadamia nut butter on some locally made sourdough bread (6/5). It was all so good. We look forward to coming back again.

Chicken we ordered had no grill marks like before and the chicken was placed on top as one piece. Very little lettuce, and the shell it came in was smaller. Really sad to see. I know everyone is cutting corners and making concessions to make a profit but this was not a meal sized portion. We've enjoyed fish and chips, sliders, tacos, burgers, salads prior to the changes. For old time sake I ordered a Mai Tai. I was surprised a lime wedge replaced the pineapple and cherry skewer I enjoyed. Staff is friendly and host was very nice. Music at 6 pm is fun. We love watching the sunset, musicians playing and sometimes a gracious hula dancer. It can be busy, long waits for dinner. I really hope Huggo's on the Rocks can retain its special charm.

We were only $20 short of reaching the $300 spending requirement for the free gifts, which should speak to how frequently we visited and how much money we spent at this store. Despite being repeat customers, every visit was met with the same poor customer service. All of the cashiers who helped us were rude, curt, and could not even acknowledge the smallest greetings. The customer service was so unpleasant that it was not worth the experience. The food is not amazing, the prices are not great, and the only thing this place has is convenience--nothing more to offer. In one instance, I got a burger and a black milk tea with boba. I specifically told the cashier that I wanted boba, but she did not ring it up. When I inquired about the missing boba, a young employee addressed the matter with the cashier. They talked, and I said that if it cost more, I could pay for it. She rang up the boba with zero acknowledgment of her mistake. Nothing came out of her mouth. Complete silence. In another instance, I asked a cashier what the gifts were if we reached $300 in purchases. She did not say a word. She simply reached for a card with images of the gifts and placed it on the opposite side of where I was standing. She said nothing. I asked if those were the gifts, and she said yes. She then pulled out her phone while I looked at the card, and I simply said, "Okay, thank you." These are just a few examples of the many disturbing encounters we had with all of the cashiers. While on vacation in a tourist area, this is not the type of conduct or customer service one expects to experience. It was disturbing, and we dreaded going there despite the convenience.
