Famous restaurant but left a lot to be desired. First of all, while we were on time, we waited 45 min until after our reservation to get seated. Though they did provide us free champagne. Second, while the restaurant and hotel grounds are gorgeous, the food was subpar. For a Wolfgang restaurant I expected top notch food. Instead, I would have rather gone to a nice steakhouse in CA for the same price we paid. The salmon roll could have easily been from Whole Foods. The steak was good, but not overly impressive and my wife's fish was forgettable. While it was a beautiful property, we will not be back. We would have rather stayed at our hotel and gotten room service. read more

Spago is our special place. My husband and I celebrated our wedding here three years ago, and we've returned every year since for our anniversary. It has become part of our story, and every visit continues to feel just as meaningful and memorable as the first. The setting is absolutely stunning. Between the beautifully designed interior and the outdoor seating overlooking the beach in front of the Four Seasons, it creates one of the most romantic date-night settings on Maui. The food never misses the mark. We started with an English pea soup that was exquisitely seasoned and beautifully balanced. I followed with the Broiled Miso Marinated Walu, tender, delicate, mildly sweet, served with sesame sauce and crisp cucumbers that added the perfect contrast. The rack of lamb was juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly. Dessert was unforgettable: the "Spikey Lemon" calamansi cake with yuzu curd and crunchy meringue, plus freshly baked donuts that arrived crispy, warm, and drenched in a divine chocolate sauce. Pure heaven. But what truly sets Spago apart, and what makes each visit unique, is the front-of-house staff. Over the years we've been lucky enough to be served by both Jeb and Mikayla. Jeb was also our waiter on our wedding night, which made seeing him again feel especially meaningful. He has a rare gift: he makes guests feel genuinely special. His knowledge of the menu is remarkable, he reads the flow of a meal perfectly, and he is charming, funny, and effortlessly attentive without ever being overbearing. What keeps us coming back isn't just the food or the atmosphere. it's the impeccable hospitality. One moment we'll never forget: on our wedding night, after I mentioned I was Austrian, Jeb surprised us with a Kaiserschmarrn. It was unexpected, thoughtful, and one of those gestures that instantly lets you know you're more than just another table. You're valued. I wish that a six star review was possible! We visited this Spago outpost one year ago, and knew we had to again enjoy all it has to offer. The ambiance is fine dining in a casual, laid-back manner. We enjoyed a great caviar service, terrific appetizers, wonderful entrees, the establishment's signature bread service, and a superb dessert. The wine selections were likewise fantastic. Do yourself a favor and ask for David to be your server; he is the model by which all servers should be judged. It was great to reconnect with him. Wolfgang Puck and his son, Byron, were there, and both visited our table and engaged us in memorable conversation. If you have but one fine dining experience in Maui, make it Spago. Spago felt more like a lovely dinner spot than a destination for celebrating a special occasion, as our anniversary wasn't acknowledged during the meal by our main server. We had been quite spoiled at the Fairmont restaurants and at Ferraro's, where we were given wonderful sunset-view tables and where our anniversary was warmly acknowledged. At Spago, we were seated three rows back near the bar. Fair enough--only so many tables can have prime placement--but unlike Ferraro's, there was no acknowledgment of our anniversary at all. No "Happy Anniversary," and no sense that it had been noted. I assumed I must have left it off the reservation, as there was no recognition during service. The only mention came from Vicky, the assistant server, who remarked on how unusual 31 years of marriage is and asked our secret. That was appreciated, but it was the extent of it. Our main server was professional but somewhat perfunctory and not especially warm. Vicky, on the other hand, was friendly and genuinely pleasant. On the food side, there were some bright spots. I enjoyed the Guava Lava--a lemon, coconut, and pineapple cocktail that drinks like dessert. The bread platter was a highlight: onion sourdough focaccia, Samoan rolls, and wheat-and-thyme flatbread crisps served with butter, yuzu, and baba ghanoush. I also enjoyed the macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi, which was well prepared. For dessert, we ordered the Lemon Zinger. Only ten are made each night due to the labor involved. It was light, refreshing, and nicely done. "Happy Anniversary" was written in chocolate on the plate--there, we were finally celebrated, Spago-style, thanks to Vicky. Over the last four decades, I've had the pleasure of dining at many of the finest restaurants in the world. But I have never experienced an evening quite like this one. Food was amazing! The staff were not. The 3 stars Is only to reflect the treatment from Staff. The 2 young front desk workers were very unwelcoming. Tried to prove we had no reservation. Said they found it but it was for 3 days later, and currently had no space. We obviously see a lot of tables available. I showed my phone confirmation, but they said we are now 8 mins too late. Did another reservation in front of their faces. They didn't expect another available spot, so they made me wait an additional 15 mins longer than my new reservation time. The waiter - David with the Shirley temple curls was decent AFTER realizing we actually had money to spend. I noticed we didn't fit the color of the restaurant... after people in the restaurant saying how we looked so Hawaiian / local, fees like they sure try to keep our look out. Ugly America displayed in my favorite Chef's restaurant. We'll continue visiting other Wolfgang locations, but this one is definitely a prejudice feeling spot. Definitely ruined my night. We had a great experience at Spago's. Yeah, it was expensive dinner and I know most folks won't want to use their dollars for $100 bottles of wine (low end) and $95 plates. This is definitely an experience for a special occasion. We saved money to have this dinner because it was important to us. We paid the cost of four dinner dates. It was worth it for us. No photo for our appetizer. I forgot about it. Our steak and fish dinners were amazing. We received three desserts. Two were complimentary and one we purchased. Service was top tier. A great restaurant option if you want to celebrate a special occasion when you're in Maui. I made reservation a month in advance with a special request and got front seating with the best view of the sunset. It was sunny at first so I had to wear shades while eating and it was a really hot since it's outdoor seating but then everything got better once the sun is setting down. The food was really good, and the size was decent. I ordered the Thai curry, the pork chop, the bao bun (by accident since the server misheard what I wanted), the chocolate soufflé and a couple cocktails drink. The foods took some time to make but I'm not complaining since you get to enjoy the beautiful view. The server was pretty nice and friendly. All the foods were on the pricier range but you're there for the experience, the view and the atmosphere. The valet parking was free, which is nice since it is a high end restaurant. They had a prix fixe menu which was very good. I think for the price and portions very good gets 4* though part of me wants to give 5* because of the service and ambiance. A true 4.5 I guess. OH MY GOD. I want to take one star from every other five star review I have ever done and give it to this night, this place, this food. Very special night because we got married that afternoon on a beach only a few minutes away. Our waiter was fantastic. He knew why we were there, learned our names, offered the "verbal specials," brought us a little free champagne. I ordered the DUO, which was Akamai (most lean) and Otoro (most fatty) parts of the tuna sashimi style. This was absolutely amazing. Freshest seafood I have ever eaten. My wife got the Puna chicken for a main and the Gnocci for an app. Even the bread service was great. Then, and only then, will I tell you about the very best, most tender, most flavorful piece of steak of my life - no joke. It was on the menu as "New York Steak" which I found confusing so I asked the waiter what primal it was. It was the strip but cut like a loin!!! I was a little worried when it came sliced, and I could not tell the temperature, but that must have been some light sauce applied. It was perfect medium rare. Thus, for visitors to Maui and especially those from California, Spago is a familiar sight. Located in the Four Seasons hotel where the first season of White Lotus was filmed, there is certainly plenty of fun of enjoying this location whether visiting the hotel or staying in it. When it comes to Spago Maui, it is certainly a much less formal version of its sister restaurant in California and presents a tropical vibe. It is not focused on multi course dining experiences or meticulous details, while the service is relaxed, albeit friendly while still being attentive. Presentation of dishes is also simple, while portions are fairly generous. Spago Maui is not about pushing the boundaries of creativity, but rather focuses on pleasure of food. Thus, it is important to arrive to Spago with the right expectations that this is not a dining experience that would typically land any Michelin stars, but is more centric around comforting dishes in a tropical atmosphere. Dishes like Asian style steamed fish with bok choy are remarkably satisfying. Curried catch of the day is amazing. Rolls are constructed attentively. Pavlova was sadly extremely over-sweetened, so maybe skip the dessert. The wine list is impressive with an amazing sommelier on site from Wolfgang Puck's sister restaurant in Vegas. We were looking forward to our dinner at Spago tonight, but the experiance left us with a lot to be desired. The main issue lies with the training of the staff. Settling the bill with a gift card became an excruciatingly difficult process. It took three attempts for our server to process the transaction, all without a single apology for the akward drawn out delay that had other diners staring and wondering. We didn't have a car while we were here and while there were many transport services available, it was hard to resist the convenience of the hotel restaurant. The best thing we had was the ahi cones. So fresh and tasty! Probably would have gotten a bunch more of these if I'd known. I got a curry that was on special with Kona lobster. I felt weird about getting Maine lobster in the Pacific but it was the same as Maine lobster, though I did think it was a bit overcooked in the curry. The flavors in the curry were very tasty though. My spouse got a steak, which was fine (he really liked it, but it seemed like any boring steak to me). Highlights for me were the sides: taro hash browns, which were hot, crispy, and delicious! And a mushroom and shishito peppers mix that really hit the spot and added some texture to the meal. Portions were bigger than expected and we were stuffed. Our party enjoyed the Handmade Ricotta Cheese Gnocchi, Bolognese, Bigeye Ahi Poke Cones, Roasted Heirloom Tomato Soup, Pommes Frites, Tomahawk Steak, and cookies. The menu features Californian, Asian fusion, and New American cuisine. It's pricey, this is the Four Seasons after all, but the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience justify the cost. The macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi had decent flavor, but was overcooked and dry. This was my and my fiancé's first visit to Spago and to say we were underwhelmed would be an understatement. Although the service was very good and the atmosphere was nice, the food was very low quality and extremely overpriced. I don't think I'll be visiting any Spago locations in the future and will not be recommending that my friends and associates visit as well. read more

Spago Maui was the perfect choice for a special dinner during vacation. The beachfront views were incredible, it made the entire experience feel extra luxurious. The menu has a great variety of seafood, pasta, and Asian fusion dishes. Our server also let us know of some off-menu items and chef specials. We ordered a number of things and our server arranged them in a way that would be best enjoyed- from starters to small plates to our main course. Just about everything we got was a standout dish, but I especially loved the Hand Cut Tagliatelle Pasta with Local Mushrooms. The complimentary focaccia also deserves a mention. I also *needed* to try Wolfgang Puck's signature smoked salmon pizza topped with Kaluga's Caviar. The NY steak was cooked to a perfect medium and had a yummy homemade steak sauce too. Coming from Las Vegas we have lots of fine dinning choices. Came to this place for a sunset birthday dinner. The drinks were great the appetizers were okay as well as the entrée it took awhile for our food to come out as well. Dessert was atrocious the cake was frozen for a fine dining establishment they should be embarrassed. It was an argument trying to get the server to take it off. It was a $400 cake that not one of us finished they tried to get us to take it home so they could still charge us. Was told it was freshly made right before we showed up the fruit and cream was frozen solid. If you pride yourself on fine dinning and the best of this and that DO NOT FREEZE your desserts. The ambiance was amazing but I've been to a few places here for a fraction of the price that has amazing food and desserts. I would save your money (about $100-$150 per person) and check out other places. read more

The restaurant is inside the Four Season's which is amazing on its own. They offer free valet parking for guests going to their restaurants which is so nice. We were seated right away in the back dinning area just a table away from the windows. It was perfect since it was windy the table by the window had to be switched 3x till two men agreed to sit there. Our waiter was very friendly and told us the specials . My wife had been dying to try his signature salmon pizza. It was amazing and so nice with the roe eggs on top. She loved it to. I had to try the Branzini special a whole fish fried and topped with a fabulous sauce. Everyone around us watched the waiter pour it on the fish. The taste was perfect. I started off with a Japanese whiskey that I never heard of. It was aged 15 years and you could tel. It was smooth going down and I had to have more.the head bartender came back with a small glass and said that I finished off the bottle.He gave it to me for free and said that the 20 and 30 year old were even better. As I finished the one he gave me in a gulp, I had to get the Nextel one. I got the 20 year old and they set up a table just for the pour . It was fabulous and a big pour at that. Unacceptable customer service. The staff member (who identified as living in Hāna) working was extremely rude, hostile and unprofessional toward us, despite our best efforts to remain polite. It's a negative reflection for both the restaurant and directly on the hotel's brand reputation overseeing it. In all my years, I've never felt compelled to complain about an employee's behavior until today. Management at this restaurant and hotel urgently needs to address staff misconduct and behavior. First time trying a Wolfgang puck restaurant, definitely met expectations. Beautiful location inside the four seasons, we had fun walking around and enjoying the property after dinner. I recommend walking down by the fountains on the lower level and visiting the parrot. Our table was in a beautiful corner with two windows facing the ocean. Dinner itself was wonderful. Started with the Tagliatelle, which may have been my favorite part of the meal. Perfectly done and so flavorful, but not too rich. Also loved the Maui onion bread to start, was definitely a favorite at the table. For entrées, We had the pork shank and the puna chicken. The chicken was delicious, especially the potato purée! Incredible dining experience. The staff was super professional and friendly. The food was exquisite. We tried the California roll, House-made ricotta Gnocchi and the chicken. All was increíble. For dessert we also had the chocolate soufflé which was delicious. Our server also brought us a small treat with a candle and happy birthday since we were celebrating my birthday. They also had amazing house sourdough and onion bread with butter for every table. This restaurant at the Four Seasons was amazing and I would definitely come again. Hands down the best service I've ever had! Ryan, our back-end server, absolutely crushed it. He took such amazing care of us!!! Attentive, kind, and on top of everything. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does. Ryan is an absolute gem and deserves a fat raise, a bonus, and maybe even his own holiday. What a wonderful experience to dine here, not just for the food, the ambiance, the views, the atmosphere... we had wonderful hospitality from Jeb and Vicki. Both were so attentive and detail-oriented to what we ordered, and having it split on two plates after I mentioned we ate a very late lunch and were not too hungry at that time. Super understanding and still wanted us to enjoy some goodies! I must say that while we enjoyed everything we ordered, it's hard to pick a favorite, because each item was great in their own way! But for sure this place can open their own patisserie! Their bread combo is divine! And the butters are like little pieces of art to add to it! Very delicious~ love the coconut milk rolls that taste like the essence of Maui! Not sweet or coy, no artificial sweetness....it was love at first whiff! Not pictured here is the Hamachi Tostada ~ this was 10/10 for freshness and flavor! I don't enjoy fish unless I'm in Maui , and Spago makes this appetizer heavenly! This is our 2nd time dine in at this spago location. Service is always outstanding. We book a reservation via open table. They reached back if we are there to celebrate any special occasion, which we were. Our reservation was at 5:15pm originally, and we stopped by around 4pm and asked if we can pushed a bit, so we got 5:30pm because the next one will be at 7:45pm. So we got seated more in the open air area like a patio still with solid awning of course. Beautiful view. But it becomes windy very fast when the sun set and dark. We ordered: Seafood red thai coconut curry w rice - delicious but in the sweeter side Grilled Colorado lamb - nicely seasoned. Sesame crusted asparagus- nice Hand cut tagliatelle pasta with local mushroom - my fav, perfect taste, lightly seasoned and small portion For drink: Crackling Rosie cocktail- not a fan, kinda aour sour Stop dragon my heart around - ok Island in the sun - yum Complimentary onion foccacia bread, sour dough sliced and butter. Saturday dinner here at the Four Seasons in Wailea. We were staying right down the street at the Waldorf. You are able to come for dinner without staying at the Four Seasons - so that is good. We valeted our car and walked in. The reviews were strong enough to warrant coming here - and with a reservation we were sat quickly. We were sat on the outdoor deck area and placed a drink order. In addition to the drinks, we shared a tomato soup and a California roll. The sour was very good - creamy and rich- seasoned really well. The roll was pretty standard - wouldn't recommend it other than just a placeholder in keeping hunger at bay before the entree comes. For my entree, I ordered the NY strip steak - medium. As far as steaks go - this was good. Had a good flavor- although the vegetables with it weren't very fresh. For dessert I ordered the chocolate soufflé. This was very good. Rich, fluffy, and came with whipped cream, chocolate ganache, and a scoop of vanilla gelato. Overall - a solid meal. Would recommend while staying in Maui. read more

So few Nationwide restaurants are able to keep up the high standards throughout the country. Spago is one that excels. The staff is very knowledgeable and not suggesting items based on muscle memory, the restaurant management is the best in the Islands. Thank you Charlie for a look into your amazing wines.
