The service was amazing, my server was super attentive and made me feel really welcomed even though I was dining by myself. Oh my and the view, it was such a beautiful day! I ordered the Creole pasta, scallop sliders, and the cast iron cornbread, and everything was so good. The Creole pasta had the perfect amount of spice and flavor without being too heavy. The scallop sliders were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. And the cast iron cornbread... warm, buttery, slightly sweet, and served in the skillet, definitely a must order. Tonight we visited Tommy Bahama, a restaurant we make a point to visit at least once every time we're on the Big Island or Maui. Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect. read more

My Chilean Sea Bass and my wife's Spaghetti Squash were both terrific. The waitstaff seemed very happy to be there. It's pretty easy to find. We love this spot in Wailea. It is located in the shopping center- easy to get to from my hotels. We love walking over for happy hour. They have great deals on their drinks, fish tacos and sliders. 1/24/26 OmG! One of the best lunches I have ever had! Ironically we were in the area to go to another spot but we were 1 minute too late (literally). So we decided to hit Tommy Bahama. And I am so glad we did. My friend raved about the Crab-Avocado Salad but then we spotted the Waygu Beef Dip, and with our bartender's ( John) suggestion we split the 2. A great decision! The Waygu Beef Dip was excellent! Tender, juicy and full of flavor on a nice toasted Roll, served with a Horseradish Cream that really complemented the sandwich. I was a little disappointed that the Fries were of the frozen variety and were not even seasoned. The Crab-Avocado Salad was fantastic! Very simplistic but delicious. Tender Lump Crab paired with Avocado, Feta, Red Onion, Greens and a rather tasty Lime Vinaigrette. I fully recommend this place for some seriously tasty eats! read more

Tommy's never disappoints. The staff is always exceptional and the seafood is as fresh as it gets. The deck was shaded and airy. We had two of the specials and both were great. We started off with the crab bisque and some chips with salsa and guacamole. My daughter had the Parmesan crusted Sanibel chicken and I had the seafood nasi goreng with the grilled lobster tail. Everything was cooked perfectly and was brought out to the table hot. We also had some of their lobster spring rolls. Also very good. These restaurants are quite consistent across the country. The five large coconut shrimp were absolutely plump, golden, crispy, and bursting with sweet coconut flavor, truly some of the best coconut shrimp you can find. I understand why they refer to it as world famous. The Chilean sea bass was perfection, buttery, flawlessly cooked, and served over a fragrant bed of almond rice. The bok choy, mushrooms, and red peppers were incredibly fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor, creating a beautiful, harmonious explosion of taste with every bite. They put a nice shade to prevent too much sun from hitting guests. Food was delicious! My friend and I got 2 Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos that had lime sour cream and chipotle aioli. They give you a couple chips with their delicious salsa. I could've loved a tad bit more chips and salsa to be honest. Our other friend enjoyed her Ahi Tuna Cobb Salad with Shoyu egg, Pork Belly, Snap peas and pickled daikon and carrots. Each dish ranged from $26 for the Tacos and $30 for the Ahi Tuna Cobb. I enjoyed my Pain Killer drink which is a zero proof drink they had on their old menu. I believe it was coconut cream with maybe pineapple juice and a sprinkle of nutmeg or cardamom. We all shared the Malt Chocolate Pie in the end. Get a smaller portion for $10 or the full size for $14. We got the full size and split it evenly between us 3 which was just enough. It had yummy chocolate cookie crust and some toffee bits on top and a chocolate pudding center! This was such an amazing surprise. Who knew Tommy Bahama clothing store had a restaurant???? Well, they do and it's a vibe. Not hip or trendy vibe, it's an old rich white people inland vibe. It was cool. We decided on this restaurant because of the baby back ribs. The reviews were positive and I wanted them. What also was a surprise was the crab cakes and the scallops sliders. They were so good. You got to order them when you go. Really, the crab cakes were one of the best I ever had. Service was also great too!!!!! We will definitely return on our next visit. Had an amazing lunch at TB the other day. We enjoyed the ahi poke starter and a couple of Caymus white wine blends. The ahi was delightfully fresh and Greg our server was the best. Went there for a father's day dinner and I was impressed. It's the first time if I was asked if I had any food allergies (shellfish). I ordered the sticky ribs and asparagus and my husband got the calamari katsu. When we were delivered or orders both the front house manager and server came to our table and informed us that there may be some cross contamination with the ribs. I love Tommy Bahamas! Every server I've had here has been incredible and the food and drinks are incredible. The only thing that has truly tainted my desire to want to come and dine here are the rude hostesses. I live on island and don't come often, but the last 2-3 times I've visited, I've had horrible service and hospitality from the hostess stand. No greeting, no warmth. More so annoyance people are walking up to ask them questions. I brought my family who were visiting and we ended up deciding to visit a different restaurant because of the cold and rude service. The "One" Star starts when you walk in the door, the restaurant is mostly empty and without saying hello, how are you, they act as if we are a burden. Then their friends walk in and they are so nice to them and tell them they can sit wherever they want. Then after a wait for no reason, they sit us in the direct sun, the only seat in the sun that is scorching hot. We ask if we can move over a couple tables that are empty and the say we will have to go back and wait a few more minutes. To the Manager, you need to fire the two at the hostess stand, they are useless and unfriendly. Their job is to greet you, be welcoming and get you seated as soon as possible. I have wanted to dislike this restaurant since I first heard about it. What is the appeal in a restaurant that is connected to a fashion brand marketed to men going through mid-life crises? Or at least men who don't have good fashion sense to begin with. Here's the thing though: Tommy Bahama Restaurant, at least the Maui location, is awfully good. The highs are high and even the misses are not that bad. One of their signatures appetizers is the coconut shrimp. These are big, juicy, generally well prepared shrimp, coated in a light batter, and complemented nicely with a heaping portion of slaw. The blue crab and avocado salad was also a pleasant surprise on my last trip in. While the dishes are relatively expensive, they don't cheat you on portion size; there was almost as much crab and avocado in the salad as there was lettuce. Tommy's also has a daily happy hour, which starts on the early side from 2-5pm. It's really a nice place to go and grab a cocktail. Mai Tais are ubiquitous in Maui, but the ones at Tommy's are both strong and delicious. The beer selection leaves something to be desired, but they at least do have a few offerings from the Maui Brew Co. I also had especially great service at the bar my last couple of times in. The Shops at Wailea are very nice and worth crusing through in general. If you are already planning a trip through the Shops, Tommy's is well worth a stop, especially at HH. read more

This happened to be all of our first time eating at a Tommy Bahamas. We were hoping that it wasn't going to be to crowded because of the holiday weekend...not crowded at all. We all thought that the service was great. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner too, which happened to come out rather quickly. We were seated outside and there was live music..you could still have a normal conversation without having to yell across the table. We've been coming here routinely since before Covid. So I'm sorry to say that I doubt we will be coming back. The service was lacking once they realized we were probably not going to be ordering any more food than the chips and guacamole we started with. Yes, my husband and I were in deep conversation. No, neither the bar or restaurant was busy, though it was picking up when we left. And here is where my biggest problem lies: though we were asked if we wanted another drink while still enjoying our chips and though I probably would have gotten another, I was not given the opportunity because no one ever checked back again. So, we put the credit card in the cup, the server took it and ran the card and gave my husband the billfold. Without a word. No "thank you", or "have a nice evening". Nothing. And when we left, the two standing at the hostess station at least said good bye and thank you (although one had to strain to hear and I even added "what?"), I told them it would have been nice if our server had done the same. They looked confused so as we were continuing out the door I explained our server was not as gracious. They looked at me like I had 3 heads. Given the foods is not the best and the drinks are expensive, I believe we will be trying the more lively competition downstairs. I had a nice waitress who was attentive and helpful. I started with the BUNGALOW salad: Baby Greens, Roasted Almonds, Macadamia Nuts, Feta, Mango Salsa, Dried Blueberries, Crispy Pepitas, Vine-Ripe Tomatoes, Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette. This was a large portion for a salad and it was very tasty. Loved all the toppings and feta. Flavorful dressing. A nice start to my meal. For my entree, I had the THAI SHRIMP & SCALLOPS: Lemongrass, Coconut Curry Reduction, Grilled Asparagus, Roasted Carrots, Almond Rice. I have had this before and its always a favorite.
