Ate at the pool and the food was good. We got a salad and a quesadilla and both were good. The servers were great every day. Service at the bar was fine. A little gruff and more interested in personal conversations with colleagues, but they were still efficient. Their menu for dinner looked interesting and it would probably be a good choice for dinner.

I'm going to rate up but would give a 3.5. Stayed at the Hyatt and for lunch this is one of very few options. Service and food is hit or miss after eating and drinking here for 3 days. It's by the pool, so it's pretty relaxed. Prices aren't horrible. A couple of the servers were great. Not a fan of the poke nachos. Poke was salty and non a generous portion. The tacos (minus the tortilla itself ) were a win. Pork, chicken, or fish. Shout out to Rob for making sure we were happy with drinks

Ambiance is super casual (metallic chairs and tables that feels like a low end cafe) but beautiful views! Food is very overpriced and really not that great/ all fish (kids, tacos) was super dry and overcooked. The only yummy dish from a whole family meal was the daily special ($40-something catch of the day). Everything was super overpriced. I would not go here unless I was in a pinch / had nowhere else to go

Ūmalu (shade cast by a cliff), is befitting bc the pool bar at the Hyatt Regency Maui is well shaded. Jun, David & Robert took great care of me. I love good bartenders. Although the prices are very high, I didn't mind bc the service was so good and I was on vacay. I didn't try the food, but others seemed to be enjoying the menu. I'd come back again, but I would be mindful of what I ordered to minimize the cost.

Stayed at Hyatt Regency for a week and tried poolside and dinner. For dinner, reservations are recommended. It's pretty easy and usually open. Its resort food for resort prices but it does the job and the ambience can't be beat. Service was friendly and attentive. For the service we give it 3.5.

The total amount without discounts was $50 something then you ask for kamaaina discounts so they took out 15% that percentage that they took out went to service charge meaning "tips" so basically kamaaina discounts was only .79 cents hahahahahaha what a rip off. So if you guys are doing takeoutt or dining in, tips are already included, so don't add anymore. Unless they go, of course, an extra mile for you. Loud noise, Nice view, goods selection of foods no doubt!

They have a whole separate vegan menu! It's full Of many plant based options. The food was great. I loved the sauce that came with the vegan fish and chips. Definitely worth a try. So many vegan options to choose from, love that! Great live music and vibes. Service was great as well.

Been here on a couple of occasions. I enjoyed their poke nachos with rice subbed instead (pretty much a poke bowl), mahi mahi tacos, and salad with macadamia nuts and watermelon. Service is friendly. Vibes are sunny and nice. It's a very convenient option if you're at the Hyatt, as they also serve you poolside.

By all means this is not a fancy place. It's the poolside bar and restaurant at the Hyatt Regency. However, the convenience was unbeatable and the food/drinks were pretty good overall. They have daily happy hour from 11am-12pm and 4pm-5pm. Their drinks are good but nothing to rave about. We did appreciate them giving us an extra one for free! The Kalua pork nachos hit the spot for lunch next to the pool and were a good shareable size.

We stopped by here out of convenience during our stay (it was one of the few places playing NFL playoffs with the sound on) and enjoyed it so much we went back 2 more times during our 4 day trip! Nice view of the beach with friendly staff, tasty drinks and great food! The lychee margarita is delicious (and on happy hour twice a day). Gluten free options (including the fries, corn tortillas, gluten free burger buns, and gluten free sandwich bread) even though not explicitly listed on the menu. We will definitely eat here again. The steak sandwich, adult grilled cheese, and burger were all great. I also lovedddd the hurricane fries!

Umalu is located within Hyatt Regency, with a view of the property pool and beach. We were served quickly and our server Maria made sure we had more than enough water. We really enjoyed the truffle fries!

Came to Umalu the first night we arrived to our hotel, and it was one of the restaurant/bars open later. We had a large group of 8 and they were easily able to seat us all together. It had a pretty view of the pool, and during the day the beach as well! Food was pretty good! I got a vegetable stir fry, loved the sauce on it. If I went again I would have gotten the mushroom flat bread because it looked delicious. For a drink I got the mango banana rush, amazing!! Super sweet so you definitely can only have one of them.

We didn't have reservations and upon arriving at the host stand, the female hostess was snobby and did not want to help us and instead, the male host sat us down at a communal table with ottermans for seats. We didn't feel like crouching down to eat so I went back to ask if we could sit at the bar. We moved to the bar and ordered from the bartender; I got the lobster roll and my husband ordered the poke nachos. We realized there was a musician playing and wanted to move closer to the music. So I decided to go back to the host stand and ask if we could get on the list for a table close to the musician. The female host proceeded to snob me WHILE she drinks from her hydroflask. The male host stated to me that since we ordered our food already, we are not allowed to sit on a table since those tables have servers too. He also had an attitude. I asked very nicely and felt that they thought I was interrupting their deep conversations. The male host reluctantly stated that the tables open up after 9:30pm. Management really needs to school these two on how to talk to guests with more respect. This was on 11/14/25, approx. 8pm. As local kama'aina, we expected more but those two failed miserably. After we finished eating our food, we closed out our tab and moved by the musician. Needless to say, we were nicely greeted by a waitress who asked if she can get us anything. This place could be so much more but our experience with the front of the house was enough for us to not return during our trip. On the flip side, the lobster roll was really good whereas the poke nachos was okay. There's so much more dining options within the Westin's vicinity with great service AND food, like Leilani's Beach Bar (at Leilani's on The Beach) so we would not recommend this place BUT if you want a good lobster roll, this is the place to have it.

From the moment we pulled up, the service was seamless--the Complimentary Valet Parking is such a massive plus and started the night on a high note. We're lucky to see Maui's beauty every day, but dining at Son'z, with its incredible view and dreamy atmosphere, really makes us feel like we're living our dream vacation. It's easily one of the most romantic and stunning spots on the island. The highlight of the evening, though, was the hospitality. I was so stoked to run into Maranda at the hostess station--it had been a hot minute and it was so lovely to see a familiar face! The staff truly went above and beyond to make my dad feel celebrated, even bringing out a special birthday dessert (that looked almost too good to eat!) to cap off the night. And the food was absolutely incredible. We started with the Blackened Ahi (that Sake-Mustard Beurre Blanc is everything!) and the Pork & Vegetable Dumplings. For the mains, the Wagyu New York Strip was cooked to perfection, but the 32 oz Tomahawk Rib Eye was the real showstopper--especially paired with the Brandy-Peppercorn and Chimichurri. We didn't sleep on the sides either; the Bacon Mac & Cheese, Broccolini, and those Local Mushrooms & Maui Onions were the perfect complements to the steaks. Mahalo to the entire team at Son'z for making this such a memorable birthday celebration. We will definitely be back! XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

The chicken nuggets we ordered for the kids were dry and honestly, I'd prefer Costco or McDonald's nuggets at that point--especially for $15+. The mac and cheese was just okay, but it also came out cold--another $15+ item. Everything is over $20, which would be fine if the food was worth it. My sliders were bland and also cold--no flavor at all. The only saving grace from the food side were the chicken wings--they were crispy and the sauces (especially the spicy one) were great. But--major shout-out to the bartender, Sean. He was awesome--super friendly, welcoming, and made the vibe a lot better amidst the food disappointment. He deserves 5 stars on his own. Now, the arcade itself? Fantastic for the kids! Great selection of games and prizes. We spent $40 and the kids had a blast, taking home some decent prizes.
