The PU PU's are tasty and priced well for the location. The wings are some of the best I have had. Had an order each visit. The Noodle dish with Veggies was also very tasty. We were staying at the Westin Resort so it was an easy Happy Hour walk from the pool; or evening walk across from our room. There are those who serve well and those who are simply present. John who works the restaurant and pool area is a very friendly person who enjoys his work and interacts well with the Publics. The Hosting is slow and somewhat unorganized and the time from seating to server's approach is spotty. We ate there three time this week . One evening two Happy Hours. The offerings for Happy hour could be far more inclusive particularly with a needed addition of Well drinks and or Standard Cocktails . The restaurant is located in the Westin Kaanapali South hotel and is open air nestled between the hotel buildings and the swimming pool. You can hear waterfalls from the garden and see many people walking by in their bathing suits. Our server Joel was very polite and helpful. My Tropical Monkey cocktail was very refreshing. My wife liked her catch of the day which was mahi mahi generously portioned and very savory. It's my mama's birthday month, so we wanted to start it off right with breakfast at Auntie's Kitchen. Then of course a little shopping afterwards at Whaler's Village since we're in the area. Although this might surprise you but this was actually our first time to Auntie's Kitchen too. So I really had no idea on what to expect. The view however, Auntie's Kitchen is located in a relaxed, poolside setting at the Westin Resort. The open air restaurant view of the beautiful landscaping is definitely giving off vacation vibes. I love being surrounded by greenery. Seeing the birds sun bathing, dragonflies hovering around the water fall & the fish just chasing each other around. It's such a relaxing & welcoming setting. Even all the diners seem to be enjoying themselves. As their waiter makes his way around the restaurant checking on each table. Even the guests passing by either just finished eating or heading to grab a bite are in a friendly mood. Smiling & greeting other guests as they pass by. As we casually make are way over to the hostess stand, without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The restaurant was only about 1/3 packed when we arrived for breakfast. So I definitely appreciated the VIP treatment when getting seated at an instagram worthy table. Although all the tables have a nice view of the grounds. With too many delicious choices to choose from the Avocado Toast won my pick. With smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, cotija cheese, radish, egg, micro greens & chili oil. It sounded delicious, when it arrived it was almost too pretty to eat. Except I was so ready to eat I practically stuffed my face. I was just so happy & if you're an avocado toast fan too. You'll get to experience that same happiness high after your first bite too. My mama ordered the Eggs Benedict, it's one of her favorite things to order & she absolutely loved the breakfast potatoes. Also shoutout to the guys working for making our breakfast outing an enjoyable one. Great customer service & positive encounters like these makes going out fun. Dinner the other night was good vs great. I enjoyed my Caesar salad with fresh grilled fish and my husband had the ribs and thought they were just ok. My son had the hamburger and also thought it was ok so they only got a three star for dinner this time. But for breakfast... they no longer have the buffet which we were disappointed but after seeing the menu and getting our food, they hit a five for us. I ordered loco moco and it was wonderful. Nice light gravy and sweet onions. A bit of furikaki in the rice and two eggs and two hamburger patties. Hubby had the avocado toast and it was beautiful and tasty. I was trying to get her attention she's looking at me - the back of the house staff clearly see me waving her down and they even told her the customer is waving at you and pointing at me to her and she's just ignoring me and doesn't even come near me so then I go up to her to the other side of restaurant and say I really need a highchair for my baby, she stated you need to get your server to help you. I responded with I haven't seen my server in 20 or so minutes can you please help me and she's like I don't like children so I don't like to do the stuff. then after I was done eating again my server had like five or six tables so he was busy. The food is good, nothing too special, but the convenience of the location being at our hotel made it an easy place to grab a bite for breakfast. It's an open outdoor space with views of the pool and the ocean. There is also a bar, which you can walk up to get takeaway drinks for poolside or enjoy while at the bar or a restaurant table. We came here hoping for a good meal, but unfortunately, it was a MAJOR letdown. The prime rib and koala chicken were both awful--cold and flavorless. For the price ($116 we expected way more. We ate here on our last day to get a quick breakfast before we left. As soon as we saw the host, things seemed off. She was very rude and short. That's fine, you're a host. After the server took our order, I went to ask if I should grab a plate for the buffet. She then asked me if I was dining at the restaurant and if I wanted that breakfast I needed to take a seat and order... I then had to show the person who just took my order minuets before where I was sitting. I understand you can't remember who's eating in the restaurant or not. It's just very concerning that that is the first response to a question. I asked the host before as well and she was just as rude as the first interaction. This is really all small things but it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth after you eat. Maybe the food is overpriced but I can get over that if I'm treated well. I have a hard time paying a premium price for food with poor service. The management team needs to train the employees on how to interact with guess properly. I shouldn't feel like I'm a burden for asking questions. Don't eat here, just go off property and get a better breakfast for a better cost with better service. read more

The best things I had was the Acai Bowl with Papaya. Honestly, if I could eat papaya every single day I would. I've never had the Acai Bowl before visiting Maui this year. I have eaten there twice and have NOT had a good experience. The staff I have encountered definitely don't have the Hawaiian warmth or even friendliness that everyone deserves and expects. . The bar tender that helped me this morning with my take out breakfast was not friendly at all, actually very cold, but sure was engaging with the next customer. The contrast in his engagement was very obvious. The bar tender was Caucasian, as was the other customer, I am Asian. Is there a pattern here? I strongly suspect that there is. Some of the best food I have ever had. It's not usually normal that a hotel restaurant has amazing food--but this was so good! Me and my friends loved the Kalua pork quesadilla and the poke bowl (spicy or not). We loved ordering poolside as our favorite waiter would ring us up often, my trip was a while ago so I forgot his name but he gave us an on the house piña and always chatted us up! Hitting up another joint in Kaanapali by the resorts. Wifey and I got the Shoyu and spicy poke, the tag alongs got a plant based burger and kids cheese burger. Shoyu Poke was the winner over my spicy poke entree. The kimchi was soooo good on both dishes. Had some of the French fries which were frenchy and fry-eee. Went for Happy Hour (3pm-5pm) and also got the "spicy" edamame and some Mai Tai's. Nice spot wasn't overly busy and had good service. Open patio covered seating like most resort style restaurants. We decided to stop here for lunch after the beach since it was convenient as we were staying at the Westin Villas. We ordered the stack wagyu burger and the chicken sandwich. My burger was pretty good - average and overpriced in my opinion. I did enjoy the fries! The service was okay, not great. It took awhile for someone to seat us even though the employees kept looking at us and there were barely any diners when we arrived. Our server was friendly but it was pretty slow. Vacation is a time for us to pamper ourselves. Staying at the Westin Ka'anapali ocean villas We were looking for this to be a pampering experience. I'll save the hotel as a separate review. In this one I want to focus on the properties restaurant, auntie's kitchen. My partner and I wanted to have a little lunch and decided to eat on property. The covered outdoor ambience of auntie's kitchen was very nice, and the servers are very friendly. But for a late lunch when you're spending $70 You want to have something that is of quality, value, flavor ,and freshness. This place seems to be all about profit. I ordered a chicken sandwich and a piece of chicken was a quarter inch thick or less on a small hamburger bun. There was literally a tablespoon of avocado on it because I had asked for the avocado which cost two dollars extra . I've had better chicken sandwiches at McDonald's, and Wendy's. No, I'm being serious! And with Tax, the sandwich was $30. My partner ordered an Ahi Niçoise salad ( also $30) the greens and garnish to the salad. We're very nice, but I suppose the star was to be the six slices of seared Aji on the top. My partner put on the dressing and ate some of the salad and three of the pieces of Ahi. I did not put any dressing on the piece that I tried when he offered it to me and was overcome by the smell of rank fish. I let him smell it and we did not eat anymore of it. We told the server about it who said OK thanks for letting me know. We're flying back to LA tonight and I certainly hope that food poison doesn't come a knocking.!! Stayed here for 10 days and frequented this place daily. Bartenders were awesome and polite. The food was really good. One night the special was Lasagna? Im Italian and had to try it. Oh my god! I told the waitress to tell the chef it was some of the best lasagna Ive ever had. Multiple layers of pasta with great meat sauce! Good beers on tap too! read more
