Our experience dining at Honu Oceanside was nothing but top notch from start to finish! Incredible service from the kind staff, and the appetizers, entrees and desserts were all beyond delicious. Our group all ordered something different so we could share. For apps, we tried the ahi poke, burrata mozzarella, and spanish octopus. For entrees we ordered the peppercorn filet, herb jidori chicken, fresh fish dore style, diver scallops, and the lobster mac & cheese. It was impossible to choose a favorite. Each bite was just as amazing as the last. Be sure to save room for dessert! My favorite was the butterscotch pot de crème, with the chocolate mouse cake as a close second. Incredible experience! We had an incredible dinner at Honu Oceanside!! We started with the Ahi Bruschetta - it was so good I forgot to get a picture haha! For our meals, I got the Short Ribs which seriously melted in my mouth. My husband got the lobster mac & cheese, and he loved it. This is a great restaurant, if you're looking for something nice. We had the grilled octopus and soft shell crab for starters. Both dishes had amazing and well-balanced flavors and textures. For entrees, my husband had the scallops, daughter had the fish special (monchong) in lemon beurre blanc sauce, son had lobster mac. They all enjoyed their dishes. I tried the scallops and monchong and they were both great. My cioppino looked amazing when it came; I was so excited for it; however when I took the first bite of the toast with the broth, it was so salty that I almost choked. We dined next door the night before, but after eating at Honu Oceanside I wished we would have eaten here two nights in a row. The food was that good. The staff were attentive and the drinks were amazing! We sat at the bar and ordered the truffle fries to start along with another appetizer but the portion of truffle fries could have fed 4 people. We each had a main dish which afterward we were stuffed. The atmosphere is great, the restaurant has a modern design but you need to make a reservation. They were fully booked when we walked in, luckily we had a resy but the people ahead of us had only booked a 2 top and wanted a 4 top. We came here on my baby moon in 2021 and had to return for my birthday while in town. Love the oceanfront dining, we actually got a little splashed from the waves but it felt great in the heat. We scored an amazing parking spot and beautiful view table to start off on the right foot. We've been coming here for years when pizza was the focus and the interior was rustic, but not since reopening after the fires and WOW! It's gorgeous inside and some of the best service we've had - hostess, waiter, bussers, everyone was excellent. We also loved the food we had. It's upscale and island prices, but well worth it. Everything was tasty and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. They will cork your leftovers for you to take back so don't be shy about getting a bottle. Beautiful restaurant! We chose to get go here on our last night in Hawaii. They sat us outside and we could watch the waves while eating. Gorgeous view.Our waitress was amazing. I made reservations for this place and I think you have to. It is along the beach and they have a very small parking lot. Very few street parking. You will probably park in Cannery Row and walk over like we had to. We checked in and were seated right away. It was pretty much full. Our reservation was just after 5PM on a Sunday. The place is really sharp looking. My wife and I really loved the look of the place. Smart. The view was amazing out side towards the ocean with a few boats out. Stunning view. Our server came over and told us about the specials. He said everything was amazing on the menu. He was super friendly. I was going to get a drink but they don't have Remy here. So I went with an iced tea. The wife started with the clam chowder which was really good. I went for the mushroom soup and it was amazing to. For her main the wife got the Dungeness crab salad. It had so much crab on it and around the plate . She couldn't finish it so I had to . I had a hard time finishing it. SO you know we were stuffed. I got the Cioppino and wow. It was big and packed with seafood. The broth was yummy and all the seafood was fresh. I loved it. This was definitely our best meal on this short trip. Honu! What an amazing dinner in Maui. My husband, was searching for a great whiskey bourbon experience during our trip. Someone recommended your establishment and we gave it a try. It turns out it was an awesome dining experience and he truly enjoyed the flight tasting experience! We made reservations for the dinner. You need to make reservations ahead of time for the restaurant if you plan to eat there. This small cozy restaurant has breathtaking views and the waves cresting against the coast was an amazing sounding experience. We started with a half dozen of oysters it was so fresh, the shave wasabi went so terrific with it. We added the beef tallow truffle fries and it was delicious as well. I ordered the chef specialty fresh fish dish and my husband had an osso bucco. Both were delicious and filled us up. We got a fantastic table right by the water and the view was amazing. Our server Astrid was fantastic! Very welcoming, super nice and helped us order just the right amount of dishes. This restaurant was without question the best restaurant I visited on my trip to Maui. We went back to loved it so much. If you have a gluten allergy they're great at accommodating and they have one of the best gluten free crusts (housemade by the way) we've ever had. The service was the best we received out of any place on the island. The restaurant manager even made rounds, checking on the tables to make sure we were having an excellent evening. We ate at several high profile locations around the island, and this place had some great ambiance. We had an Oceanside table, and watched sea turtles feast on seaweed while we ate. My partner and I were seated at a table on the periphery of the restaurant adjacent to the beach with a stunning view of the achingly beautiful ocean and the lulling sound of the ebb and flow of the waves. The restaurant is modern and elegant and the waitstaff are friendly and very helpful. We ordered a crisp de Blanc champagne to start our evening, which was bright and lovely. Our appetizer selection was the Ahi tuna bruschetta on a delightful flaxseed, toast with amazingly red and delicious heirloom tomatoes, and a wonderful aged balsamic... so delicious! Next we ordered the lobster salad with cucumbers, hearts of palm, tomatoes, avocado, and drizzled with the most delicious vanilla bean vinaigrette. Our main course was the Hawaiian MonChong served on risotto. Probably the best fish dish I have ever had so tender and buttery. Easily one of our favorite meals during our stay in West Maui. The ambiance is clean and inviting. We made a last-minute reservation for dinner and the only thing we could get was a spot at the bar. Ge was the main bartender helping us that evening and she was very friendly and welcoming. Although we were seated at the bar, we really came to eat. We ordered the "ahi bruschetta" (2 pieces), chopped caesar, and truffle fries to share. My husband order the cioppino and I order the fish special -grilled monchong, corn risotto, and shrimp. All the food tasted fresh, clean, and flavorful. I would recommend making a reservation ahead (unlike us) and try to get a nice waterfront window view around sunset. Parking is tough, you will either look for one of the few spots along the dirt road leading up to the restaurant (which can be tricky at night), Lyft or be creative (couple next to us parked at Safeway and then walked) Staff are SO friendly, professional and make you feel welcome from the moment you enter the restaurant. Great view of the water (when it is light out) lively atmosphere. You have the option of sparkling or distilled water, wine by the glass / bottle / full bar and signature drinks. I love pinot griogio - wasn't thrilled with my glass (italian wine) but all good as the food was absolutely amazing!! We started out with the poke bruschetta - the chunks and freshness of the seared poke that just melt in your mouth got us excited for our main course. My husband ordered the cioppino - so much fresh seafood, flavorful base and perfect toast to soak it all up. I had the mahi mahi which was also very moist and flavorful, not over cooked which was placed over a bed of mashed potatoes and veggies with a lemon chardonnay sauce (it was so delicious!!) We were too full (generous portions) for dessert but the tables around us enjoyed shat they ordered - many shared or took home boxes. You can't get more oceanfront than this place! The sunset is beautiful from any table and there are always honus (turtles) swimming by. The food here is delicious and the desserts are out of the world (butterscotch pot de creme is a dream!)! Our family loved the multiple fish options, most of them going with the special of the night. Another delicious meal at Honu, every time we visit has been sublime. We were celebrating the festive season as a family together and the restaurant was full of families and couples enjoying the sunset view, the strong cocktails, and of course the menu and great service. Throughout our meal we had our server, the manager and sub manager all greet us and make sure we were enjoying our meal and that we had everything we needed. We ate too much, but with culinary excellence on offer it is difficult not to! DRINKS Pho cocktail - an unusual savory drink with stages of flavors that hit at different points, short glass adorned with herbs, satisfyingly different and one of my fave's on island Lilikoi lemonade - tart and refreshing Bees Knees - lavender tinted liquid and a honey aftertaste, guaranteed to get you buzzing Alcohol free beer - great to see this on the menu for the non drinkers/nominated drivers who don't want to drink soda all evening. It is becoming a trend and many restaurants are including it on their drinks menu which is fantastic APPETIZERS Mushroom soup - umami creamy goodness with a condensed mushroom taste and a herby oil drizzle to cut the creaminess, served with a sliver of toast. I love mushrooms and this hit the spot and left me craving for more. The toast could have had a bit more salt or flavouring, however it didn't matter as the soup was so yummy Poke - A large serving with purple Molokai sweet potato chips and melt in the mouth fish. Avocado adds a fresh hit. We all really liked this dish, and we live on island so are used to poke, but this dish took it up a notch. Delish Oyster shooters - served in shot glasses on ice, cool and spicy and oh so nicey MAINS Divers Scallops - I looooove this dish, I always tell myself I'm going to order something else when we visit, and always end up ordering it...lol. Melt in the mouth scallops nestled on mashed potato with a mushroom sauce. The scallops are huge, the gravy umami and the mushrooms add an extra texture, the mash soft and comforting. I wonder if they used sweet potato mash it might improve the colour and sweetness of the dish? Braised Veal Ossobuco - a huge dish of creamy polenta adorned with a large amount of veal, including a marrow fork to dig for the gelatinous goodness, veg and a port demi glaze to finish it off. My daughter devoured this with delight, and exclaimed it was one of the best Ossobuco she had tasted Fish of the day - Hubbs dived into the risotto topped with mahi mahi and 2 huge shrimp and surfaced replete and happy We were going to order a dessert to share but realized we just didn't have room, which was a pity as their desserts are deliciously tempting. With Kamaaina discount our meal became more affordable to enjoy a first class culinary treat on a special occasion. The ono special with apple-cider and corn risotto? Ono, it's not on the menu all the time, so go get it tonight. And the service? Justin was more attentive than my therapist, described the dishes in a way that made the mouth water, and never let our water glasses dip below half-full, which is saying something because my husband is a hydro-homie and drinks water like it's going out of fashion. The support staff including Miguel and another fine gentleman (I didn't get his name) cleared our dishes promptly and delivered food as if presenting a fine bottle of wine. 100/10 do recommend. The ahi bruschetta was so good including the amazing 20 year balsamic. It would not be classy to lick the plate but that balsamic was tempting. The pizza was cooked to perfection. Monchong wasn't as moist as hoped for but the extra sauce made it better. We missed the sunset but it would have been beautiful! The staff are really great. You never have to ask for a water refill. They were so on top of everything they actually cleared all the plates while I was still chewing the last bite. Highly and completely recommend this location. The restaurant looks great and is clean and modern with incredible ocean views. We were seated promptly in their covered patio section that is right up against the water. It was a bit sunny so I would recommend sunglasses if you come before the sun sets. I don't recall our server's name but she was excellent. Checked in regularly and was happy to provide recommendations. We started with the truffle fries which were excellent and a good portion. We also had a Caesar salad which was fine. For entrees, I had the filet while my wife went with the scallops on our waitress's recommendation. Both were fantastic and perfectly prepared. For dessert, both the pot de crème and chocolate mousse cake sounded great so we opted for both. I loved them both but would give a slight nod to the pot de crème. OK, we wanted a special dinner for our last night in Maui and we found it! I think the pictures of the view from our table and our drinks, which were the best we've had in Maui on this trip, speak for themselves. Beginning with the hostess, the girl who kept our water glasses full and our server, the service was spot on, nothing left to be desired. We got the Burrata Mozzerella for an appetizer and what a great start! The whole thing was memorable, from the bread, to the fresh mozzarella to the dressing, it was a perfect start. She got the fresh fish special on risotto, which was amazing in taste and preparation and I got the Diver Scallop dish which was outstanding! Fresh scallops on mashed potatoes with Shiitake mushrooms and a delicious sauce, I may have to get this next time.
