Crispy Calamari

OMG I found my happy spot. Was searching for a scenic place for happy hour. Located in the Kapalua area just north of Lahaina, parking is easy and the views are breathtaking. Expect to wait to be seated for happy hour which runs at an early 2:00 - 4:45. I came by myself since daughter wanted to hang out at the beach, which is also walking distance. There is a waiting area in the back while you wait for a table. I sat back there for a while but then checked in the main dining area and lo and behold, a high table opened up. I recommend sitting here for a better view of the ocean. Beer on draft for happy hour is an affordable $7 and features local ales. I got the Kona Light Blonde Ale which went well with the poke nachos ($14) and calamari ($9) that I ordered. The poke nachos consisted of three chips topped with fresh poke. So don't expect nachos in the classic sense! The calamari was a bit more substantial with a furikake crust. Sea House restaurant lived up to being a happy hour indeed.

While in Maui celebrating one of my favorite humans, he chose Sea House Restaurant. He's not afraid to uber to eat well! Day two we ventured! The Sea House delivers one of the most effortlessly beautiful dining experiences on Maui. Set right on Napili Bay, the open‑air setting gives you sweeping ocean views and that calm, breezy atmosphere that makes every meal feel like a moment. The ambiance alone while looking right into the ocean is breathtaking. Service is friendly in that effortless Maui way: warm, relaxed, and genuinely attentive. You feel taken care of. So much beauty yet just 3 stars? Yes, we may have ordered the wrong items. Let's get into it! Calamari- We thought they were cheese sticks. We learned that it's a different part of the squid, it's the body part! Known in Hawaii and served as such! Who knew! Mahi Mahi Sandwich-blackened mahi on a brioche bun. Mine was chewy, super chewy I almost thought they brought me chicken. Did not like at all! Crab Club- He chose this because we love crab and maybe we should have known we are spoiled living in DC-Maryland-VA, he ate it but I didn't get any ooohs or ahhhhs from him and he never reviewed the place, so yeah no bueno. Our drinks were just okay, I'd come back to try more items and possibly at dinner or breakfast because that is what they are known for!

update next day: We had guests come for an afternoon snorkel and then happy hour here. This is really the best appetizers, so the 6 of us ordered one of each most of the menu. it's a short menu. Worked out great , we all shared. Lots of laughter , we ate on the patio facing the sea. Mahalo

I hope this place stays here forever because I will always be coming back. Liza is a great bartender and JP is a legit bar manager. Always takes care of what needs taking care of.

Napili was not the first beach I visited on this day but it was the beach I was at when realizing that part of the lunch we'd planned to pack had not been packed. Lucky for me that Sea House Restaurant was a short stroll across the sands of Napili. Sitting like a beacon, inviting you to end your day here, Sea House Restaurant is a place you can walk into sandy. I did, was told there'd be a wait for a table, and went out to a back patio to wait. Soon I was summoned: "we have seats at the bar". At first I was saddened, thinking I wanted a table, then sat at the bar only to realize it was the best seating in the place. Just look at that view. Happy hour here is good, as is service. We enjoyed: * Poke Nachos ($14) * Caesar Salad ($8) * Hurricane Fries ($7) * Mai Tais, and Aloha Bites (cocktails, $12 apiece) * Lahaina Haze IPA ($7) There's actually parking here, for those not just wandering over from the beach. If you find yourself in the Napili area at happy hour (2-4:45) don't leave it to chance: request a seat at the bar.

Corned Beef Hash

Sea House serves up a great Corned Beef Hash and Eggs dish for breakfast. It had very well prepared homemade shredded corned beef with some chucks and flavorful fat. This was one of my favorite meals on this vacation to Maui. Service was excellent and the view even more so. We sat inside the open-air dining room looking out over a beach, the ocean topped by a colorful rainbow. Paradise.

Happy hour 2-4:45 for late lunchers. Appetizers size food and drink menu View is awesome in the shade. Quick service. Relaxing ambiance. There is parking for the restaurant too. E ordered poke nacho, smash burger slider and hurricane fries. Small portion but juicy and yummy. Fries are a little bit too salty. Don't pass up the opportunity if you around Kapalua, Napili around the time

Wonderful dinner! Had reservations and we were seated outside. Beautiful setting overlooking the water. Dianne was our server and she was attentive and personable. Had a few drinks: the Sea House Old Fashioned and Sea House Spritz were excellent Food was amazing--- very fresh and hard to choose. Lots of local fish choices... Ordered the scampi style mushrooms ( "shareables") , the special that night ( scallops, shrimp, and ?( I forgot), and macadamia nut crusted kanpachi with an incredible sauce... No dessert for us. Prices were reasonable. Truly an amazing dinner. Highly recommend.

The restaurant at Napoli Beach resort has amazing views. The food was al quite good all around. The poke nachos were a bit heavy on the seaweed salad but otherwise a hit. My son wolfed his corn dog. My mom was happy with her beet salad.

Sweet Potato Frittata with Sriracha sauce

Saturday brunch at the bar watching the waves crash into Napili Bay, made even better with great service. We always get the bennies and hubs kept the tradition going with their basic bennie with ham and hollandaise. I decided to try something different as I always order the veggie bennie, so I chose the sweet potato frittata in a sriracha sauce. It looks a little like a layered lasagna but with egg, cheese and sweet potato instead. The sauce was odd though, hence the star off. The chipotle hollandaise is great on the bennies, but this sriracha sauce was too sweet, almost like a dessert, without much of a hit of chilli. It tasted like an overly sweet spaghetti sauce with a dash of sriracha. Not my fave. But the frittata was delish with plenty of Molokai sweet purple potato which I enjoy. Hubs bennie was classic and like magic it disappeared! The veggie bennie used to be $15 but it has gone up to $17 recently, but you still get Kamaaina rates if you have a HI license. I really like this local restaurant on Napili Bay, especially brunch or happy hour at the bar.

Went to try this restaurant after seeing the happy hour advertised on maui happy hour app. I walked in and was ignored by hostess staff when I asked where to check in for a table. Our less than enthusiastic waiter took our orders but returned quickly with our drinks. If I knew how small and over priced the poke "nachos" were, I would've never ordered them. The "nachos" are three wonton chips topped with a few pieces of fish and loads of seaweed salad and other less expensive ingredients. The taste of the nachos were quite good but I believe it is really bad false advertisement calling them nachos. The hurricane fries were topped with very little ingredients and needed a lot more sauce/furikake. The sliders were decent and the only thing of decent size. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone look for a substantial snack unless they are there strictly for the views and drinks.

Great spot to pop in for a drink or bite off the beach! The ladies enjoyed a few drinks during happy hour at the bar while the boys continued hanging at the beach; We sat at the end of the bar outside and had great views of the beach! Service was quick and friendly.

First, our server Charlene was fun and friendly and provided excellent service. We sat outside oceanfront and it was beautiful. The fresh fish special (Monchong) and the lamb were both exceptional. However, we almost left at the beginning because the hostess and manager were extremely rude and unwelcoming. They wouldn't let us wait for our table in the bar (yelled at us like we were children), but instead anyone waiting for their table was corralled out to the back area to wait without drink service and no one back there was happy about it. . The only reason we didn't leave was because it was our first night here and we were too tired to go anyplace else. Thankfully the rest of the night was great but how many people have left the restaurant because of the highly unwelcoming greeting for a $200-300 dinner?

Our waiter took our order, never brought my wife's glass of wine; then after we had waited 25 minutes without getting anything, he stopped by to ask us how things were going so far. We were baffled: "We haven't received any food or drinks yet." Another 10 minutes later, he showed up again, apologized and said the restaurant's manager had said their order-entry system had gone down and that our order would be one of the first to go in w/the tech running again. Then another 25 minutes passed, other tables got their food, and we sat empty-handed. Two of our party finally complained to multiple staff; our waiter said to calm down and that our food would be ready in another 10 minutes (seriously?); and very soon thereafter, our food finally arrived. No apologies from the restaurant, no follow-up on why the order took another half-hour after their system was allegedly running again, no sign of our appetizers or wine. We were OK w/those last details because after waiting more than an hour, we were ready to leave. Our order finally arrived more than an hour after we had placed it, and the food was fine. After the meal, I asked three employees if I could speak with the manager; each was evasive or said he's hard to reach. Finally, our waiter claimed (no idea whether this is true) that they had no more kitchen staff, the owner was cooking all the food, and the restaurant was due to close in the next few days. That was in late December 2025, so if Kitchen 5315 is still open in 2026, save yourself the misery and avoid this restaurant!

Extremely Disappointing Experience, Especially for a Montage Property!…read more We dined at Cane & Canoe last Monday Jan 5th and unfortunately had one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had--particularly given the prestige of the Montage brand. We planned this dinner carefully. Reservations were made well in advance, originally through our hotel (The Ritz-Carlton), and I personally spoke with Cane & Canoe twice beforehand to ensure everything was correct. The reservation confusion began before we even arrived in Hawaii. On Thursday, the restaurant called to confirm a Saturday reservation, which we never had--we were arriving Sunday and had booked Monday. I immediately called back, asked them to cancel Saturday, reconfirm Monday for three people (2 adults & 1 toddler), noted that it was two birthdays (my husband and my young son), and requested a high chair. Despite this, I received confirmation text for both reservations on Monday morning and had now 2 reservation on Monday a party of 2 and a party of 3, I received a call for confirmation, which I then clarified everything one more time before arrival. When we arrived for our Monday dinner at 5:30pm: * There was no acknowledgment of the birthdays * There was no high chair available, and it took quite some time for staff to locate one * The service was inattentive from the start Our server (his name on his name tag was Juan, however went by John, or Steve--I honestly don't recall) appeared disengaged and uninterested in being there. Rather than focusing on service, he spent time telling us what wasn't available: * Several menu items were "out" * A wine my husband ordered was unavailable * He claimed there was a pineapple shortage across the island, which was baffling given that our hotel had plenty of pineapple available all week This constant emphasis on scarcity set a negative tone and felt unnecessary. More importantly, service was extremely lacking. Our water and wine glasses sat empty. No one checked on us. We had to flag down other staff for assistance. There was no effort to make the evening special--or even pleasant. This wasn't just "bad service"; it actively impacted what was meant to be a birthday celebration for my husband and son. We are frequent Montage guests at other properties, and this was our first time in this part of Maui. While we were not staying at the Montage Maui, we chose Cane & Canoe expecting the level of hospitality the brand is known for. What we experienced was shockingly below standard. After dinner, I went to the concierge to share the experience. They apologized but could not do much beyond that and suggested I speak with management (I didn't have a desire at that time to spend more time on the negative), but instead I told them I would write a review! For the price point, the brand reputation, and the expectations that come with a Montage property, this restaurant falls incredibly short. The food itself was unremarkable--but the lack of service and care was the real issue. I would not return to Cane & Canoe, would not recommend it, and honestly would think twice about staying at the Montage Maui in the future based on this experience alone. Extremely disappointing.

My cousins ordered cocktails and our server was so kind to let them know if they weren't happy with it, they could exchange it which they did. The first course of delicious appetizers was the Caesar salad with anchovies and the Kahuku Sweet Corn Agnolotti with Keahole lobster! That was so buttery delicious and small enough to make you want more! The homemade taro rolls with butter, oil and honey was a nice accompaniment. Our second course was just right portion wise and savory. My cousin even said he was full, which never happens since he loves to eat! We enjoyed the 48-hour Wagyu Prime Rib which was so tender and easily cut with a butter knife. Yummy dollops of potato purée and broccolini were beautifully placed around the meat. My other cousin enjoyed his Shrimp Scampi with fresh house made tagliatelle, capers, Kula tomato and basil. The dessert course was a great way to end our meal. I got the Pineapple Upside Down cake with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream, biscotti crumble and Kula Rum Caramel. My cousin's panna cotta was made with local Maui Kuia Chocolate and chantilly cream with a tuile that had light sprinkle of black pepper. Overall, a wonderful experience and only $79 for the 3 courses! We will definitely be back.

It was expensive, but to be expected. I went with the double fish entree and it escapes me what two fish, but it truly was delicious and maybe the best meal on my limited trip to Maui. The ube bread was dough and delicious smothered in their compounded butter. The cocktail was good. It was busy at the bar but not to bad for the main dinning. I checked in and we were seated right away. The girl asked us to follow her to our seats seemed to be looking at the open tables and decided to put us in the middle of the room at a 4 person table. I saw that the entire section with booths was empty. I asked her if we could get a booth and she said "well those are for booked people." uhm I booked a reservation. She waited a second and walked back to the reception desk. Soon she came back and sat us at a booth which was a table for 2. So weird. Our server was really nice and laid back. He knelt down and told us the specials. SO as far as service it was very good. My wife wasn't very hungry so she was looking for a small dish. She got the Caesar salad and it was good. She also got the Parmesan Risotto. It was actually a side dish. When it came out it was tomato based and didn't have any parmesan on it. I asked the server and he said it was infused with lobster sauce. which wasn't want she wanted. He asked to take it away but my wife said no and didn't want to bother with it. I really think it was the risotto that was connected to a special dish and not the side. I started out with the steamed clams. They were good flavor and I liked the sauce with it but some of the clams didn't open which is bad. they were a nice size to. Next was the pork chop wrapped in bacon. It was cooked and tasted ok. I just expected more from this place. The server came back and was apologizing about my wife's risotto and offered to take care of the dessert . So we got the chocolate lava cake. It was really chocolaty. This place was just ok.
