The food and service is actually a 5 star. The garlic shrimp was actually good. And the lady who took our order was very nice and efficient. However, the price was kinda high. I think the garlic shrimp was $27 plus tax and service charge. There were only 5 shrimps. So it was like $6 a shrimp. It's obviously much better than regular plate lunches but I feel like Oahus north shore shrimp trucks like Romys and Giovani is just as good at a lower price. In fact, they have more sauce than you can mix with the rice to make it more ono.

I stopped by here 2 days ago by myself for lunch. My father and I had been seeing the sights of West Maui when lunchtime snuck up on us. So I fired up Yelp and found Joey's Kitchen Napili. It's located in the Napili Plaza strip mall right off the Honoapiilani Highway. Originally I was going to order in person but the line was moving pretty slow. So while I was standing there I placed an online order for the garlic chicken, which quoted me 30 minutes. The inside of Joey's Kitchen is on the smaller side with most of the space taken up by tables along with a bar. After ordering I walked around for about 20 minutes before heading back. My food ended up being ready around the 25 minute mark, which beat the original estimate. The menu described my garlic chicken as rice flour and egg coated chicken breast pieces deep fried with sriracha aioli and sweet soy glaze, served with white rice and macaroni salad. Once I got back to the car I dug in. The chicken here felt more like thighs and was cooked really well. It had a nice crispy exterior while the inside stayed juicy. The sweet soy glaze brought a salty flavor while the sriracha aioli added creaminess along with a little kick and some nice umami. Unfortunately about halfway through I started to feel like the chicken was too salty for my taste. I still ate about three quarters of it but couldn't quite finish. The rice was fine but nothing special while the mac salad was actually pretty good and one of the better ones I had on this trip. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While the salt level got to be a bit much, I did enjoy the meal overall and would be interested in trying more of their menu.

    Pork Adobo

PORK ADOBO was my favorite and completely worth it!! So buttery and flavorful probably the best I have had. GARLIC CHICKEN was good but seemed over hyped to me and not very garlic forward. They don't skip on PORTIONS or QUALITY here which was so refreshing. The other dishes looked so good! Seems like a great local FAMILY OWNED VIBE. The cocktail drinks looked very fun! Would go back on the next trip to try something new.

We came here on a Friday night and it actually wasn't too crowded. You place your order at the cashier on the right then find seating (half the tables are communal). We got the kale salad, fish tacos and the pork adobo. All of it was good--kale salad was really big, slightly too much dressing for us but still good. The tacos had a lot of fish which we really liked, but were a little bit wet at the bottom so the tortillas fell apart midway thru and got a bit messy. The pork adobo was very good and tender too. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

The pork adobo fried rice at Joey's Kitchen is an absolute flavor heavy-hitter, perfectly balancing the savory, vinegary punch of the adobo with high-quality, tender pork. The vibe is classic, open-air Maui casual--relaxed, unpretentious, and exactly where you want to be after a day in the sun. Even with the steady flow of people, the service is remarkably sharp, getting that massive, steaming plate out to the table in record time.

One of our go-to stops in Maui, we ordered here multiple times throughout our week stay. I definitely recommend calling ahead though. Everything is made fresh to order, so it can take up to 30 minutes, but you can taste the quality of care in the food. We ordered the Garlic Chicken with rice and mac salad. The chicken was crispy, seasoned and salted well, and paired perfectly with their house-made sauce that had a nice kick. The mac salad was creamy and comforting. The only miss was the rice, which was a bit mushy and slightly overcooked both times. We also got the Crispy Pork Belly, super crispy on the outside, though the pieces were on the fattier side (great if that's your preference). It came with an acidic sauce that helped cut through the richness, plus a fresh tomato salad that balanced everything out nicely. Overall, solid flavors and generous portions that fill you up. Freshly made food takes a little patience, but it's completely worth stopping by Joey's.

It was very busy when we got there around 6:30 pm on Friday. It's a small restaurant with lots of noise and a few tables inside. It was pretty hot and humid inside, and the smell reminded me of the small homes in rural South Korea. By the time we got to the host to order, she said it would take 45 minutes to get our food, which makes sense since it was so busy -- with a line out the door. We said it was fine, grabbed our number, the stopped by the market near the restaurant to grab some snacks for the weekend. When we got back, we were able to grab a seat near the door. It had a funny booth where you needed to scoot the table to get seated. We ordered the garlic chicken and pork adobo fried rice with a Sprite: The garlic chicken came out first. I give it a 2/5. It's a breaded chicken with spicy mayo and some sort of soy-based sauce on top. It was not very good and not saucy enough (like a typical orange or sesame chicken). If you like Korean fried chicken or typically well-coated Asian fried chickens, skip this one. The host came to us around 7:30 pm and delivered the Pork Adobo fried rice. There was a little miscommunication about whether or not they had any remaining servings left for the night. Despite the miscommunication, the fried rice was the standout item of the night for us. It had a nice, well-rounded smoky taste and tasty pork bites in every scoop! I would definitely recommend this one for anyone. We had a little mix up with one of our dishes, so it wasn't the smoothest of experiences. They also tend to run out of dishes if you get there too late. Seating was manageable as most tables were turned over within the two hours we were there. Nonetheless, if you get here in time and order right, it's a decent Maui eating experience.

Came here for a light lunch since we had dinner reservations later in the day. We shared an order of their garlic chicken which came with Mac salad and white rice. My husband also likes to try their local beer so he ordered the talk Story Pale Ale which he enjoyed as well. Wish I had the chance to try something else during my stay in Maui in but there were just too many places I wanted to try !

I'd like to say straight away that the food was delicious. I ordered halo halo, beef short ribs, and the adobo fried rice. Both were really good and possibly the best adobo fried rice in all islands I've had. I would 100% eat here again despite the ok rating. With that out of the way, why this is a three is because of the wait. I came in for a takeout order. One group ordered ahead of me for dine in, another group came after me for a takeout order as well, a few minutes after I ordered. The dine in group got their food quick. The group that ordered after me got their order before me. I waited about 30 minutes total. I waited 5 to 10 minutes more for my order after the group who ordered takeout after me walked out with their order. The buzzer I had never rang and the lady who took my order thought it buzzed a long time ago. The food is definitely good here but the wait was a killer especially for fried rice and braised short ribs. I would say the kitchen dropped the ball with just my order.

We needed to go next door to the Napili Market and after checking out their menu decided to stop in at Joey's for breakfast. I got the Local Breakfast, as a tourist I don't really know what locals eat but I liked this one. It came with a couple of eggs, spam, Portuguese sausage, and a scoop of white rice. That spam was salty and flavorful and it reminded me of meals my mother served so many decades ago. Nowadays spam is forbidden by my wife and doctor, that made it especially good. They have a few tables inside and out, we opted to sit at a counter facing the kitchen and got into a nice conversation with the staff. This was a nice morning stop on a beautiful Maui day.

Another great find on Yelp, we love eating at local type restaurants. This was a home run! Cute, very clean restaurant in a strip mall. There was plenty of parking . We were greeted and the server made some great suggestions. The grilled fish tacos were plentiful. They were very tasty and a large portion. Definitely would order again. The pork fried rice was a hit! My hubbie said it was the best he has ever had. We plan to go back one more time while we are in Maui. We came back for the fried rice one more time before leaving. I ordered the grilled fish ( ono) sandwich. It was excellent, great flavor and very tender . If you are on the West side of Maui, this is a must eat place, twice!!

Joey's Kitchen is a Hawaiian-inspired Filipino restaurant located in the Kapalua area of Maui. It's located in a plaza with ample parking and minutes from the beach. The namesake is Chef Joey Macadangdang who opened up another location in the Kahului area near the airport. We ordered a ton of food for 10 people: lumpia, kale caesar salad, garlic chicken, crispy pork belly, pork adobo, pork adobo fried rice, pata, and garlic kauai shrimp. Out of all this food, what I really liked were the pork adobo fried rice and the garlic chicken. What I thought was good were the pata, crispy pork belly, and pork adobo. What I thought was okay were the lumpia, salad, and garlic shrimp. Note that they're closed Sundays and Mondays. We walked around the adjacent Napili Market while we waited but it wasn't a long wait at all. Big shoutout to Joey's Kitchen for bringing out all our food fast even for a big order at the last minute.

Islay Time cocktail is especially amazing.
    Liz A.

Brilliant food, best cocktails we've had on the island. If you like peat at all, ask for the Isley Time. Invented by the bartender, Iz, it is one of the best cocktails I've had. The vibe is lovely, dine in or take away, eat indoors or outdoors. Accessibility parking right in front.

Yes they do. Their menu is online. There is also a wonderful vegan place next door called Aa roots

Do they take reservations or advance wait list? Our hotel is about 15 minute drive so take out would probably be cold by the time we get back. Glad this location is still open. Sad about Macadangdang.

They dont take reservations, nor is there a waitlist. They have communal table seating and order at the counter. We just made it a point to be there when they opened, and we didn't have to wait.

Will the restaurant be open on Thanksgiving day for take out?

We ate at their Napili location twice in October. Excellent food, drinks and service. All other locations still remain closed. Have no idea about Thanksgiving take out. I would suggest you call the Napili location. If they do I doubt it will be the… Read more

There was a line of people trying to make reservations also so book before or earlier. We arrived a few minutes early for the reservation and our table was ready. The restaurant is much bigger than I thought. Large covered dining area plus the dining on the newly renovated and extra large deck over looking the pool. Evening time was dark inside but the table lights were bright enough at the table and added the nice ambiance. Our server was so friendly and patient and I saw that she was on top of every request and order from all the tables in her section. Amazing skills! We ordered the white lotus mocktail, a OJ, kids Mac and cheese, curry dusted calamari, Korean seafood pancakes, pork belly bao, Rainbow and Shrimp Tempura rolls, and the blackened tuna roll. The dishes and sushi rolls are generous portions and we didn't understand or were starving. We ordered too much for the table. Even the kids Mac and cheese came in this huge bowl enough for two kids. All the sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. They were topped with this wasabi tobiko. I've never had anything like that, and I wished I had more to top other dishes. The Korea seafood pancakes were really crispy on the outside and light and doughy on the inside with the seafood. The sauce on top was great. If they had called this seafood hush puppies, I would have been happy with the order. Each piece was ginormous but didn't have much green onions. I was expecting the pancakes to have a lot more green onions. The pork belly bao buns had a nice pickled salad on top. The buns were not very fluffy but serviceable. The dish was ok. The curry dusted calamari was also just ok. Calamari was fried well and crispy. The curry dust was just not the flavor we liked. And it came with these grape halves around which didn't really go well with the calamari or flavor in my opinion. I think if we ever come back, we'll stick with the sushi menu.
