Came with one egg fried and corn beef hash. My only complaint was that there were a third of the tables that were empty. Still we had to wait to be seated. Mom got hungry and wanted some Zippy's for lunch. So off we go! Thankfully being the 9th Island in Vegas - we have a number of Zippy's to go to now. It was nice to visit one of the OG ones in Hawaii, one of the first ones off of the island of Oahu too! Kahului Zippy's was sooo busy when it first opened, I remember! And a host station seating diners in more comfortable booths and tables to the other side. I think some items are just slightly more expensive in the full service side? Think the Dennys of Hawaii which my great server agreed to when I told her how excited I was to be there. They have great breakfast all day I think, fried chicken, signature chili(like Nalley's canned only more "Zippy" with seasoning) , and plate lunch style offerings. Some people like their baked goods like malasadas and some cream puff types of things. This isn't the best version ever of these foods but a very reliable quality and portion size at very good prices for Hawai'i. Often more locals than us Haole tourists. We ordered the special Korean fried boneless chicken and rice with a scoop of corn and chili with beans for 13.99$ and I got a large Saimin with char su pork fish cake and choy sum. Wanted to see Jason Momoa's favorite place in Hawaii, so I decided to give Zippy's a try before heading to the airport. I ordered a Chicken Trio: 1 Chicken, Katsu, and Korean Chicken ($20). It was okay. The chicken itself is good, flaky, juicy, and tender. The katsu is good for a grab-and-go style fast food option, but the Korean Chicken was alright. The portion itself is pretty generous, but this place is on the pricier side for takeout. Zippy's itself is quite large. There is a lot of seating and a big parking lot, which was nice. Inside was pretty clean, but nothing special. We ordered online, and it was ready quickly. I also got the lilikoi drink, which was really good. When entertaining out of town family, this is a must go to place for good local service and food. With friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere, it's a great place for a relaxed dinner. Our one problem tonight was one of the orders we placed was wrong. A couple of yummy pancakes is not the same as a Belgian waffle, no matter how good. The affected family member chose to just go with it as the server, Rose, was a really nice lady. We also got the loco moco, the Korean chicken plate, the mini fried noodles, and a vegetable omelet. And I like that they had a full service dine in section and an order at the counter/seat yourself section. We chose to order at the counter, same food but you don't have to tip. I know it's a chain, but you HAVE to visit Zippy's if you're in Maui. Their Loco Moco was the best that we've tried on the island (and we tried a lot). Loco Moco is a sort of "comfort food" that is a hamburger patty on top of a bed of white rice, topped with a fried egg and brown gravy. It's like a hug in a plate/bowl, so you have to get this if you're anywhere in Hawaii, at least once! We even loved it so much that we used TWO of our meals in Maui visiting Zippy's and having Loco Moco. The interior design of Zippy's is very classic, like a grandma's house almost, with beige walls, and cute Hawaiian themed paintings all over. We got the April special which was Korean fried chicken and chili for $14-pretty good deal and a won ton min. For us, the won tun min was the real star. The broth was super clean yet flavorful, and the large had a ton of dumplings in it too! Service was nothing super special, but enough to get what we needed in a timely manner. If you're a tourist like me and want a simple meal this is the place to go! Although it is a little pricey (paid $17) but portions are decent. Of all the times we have visited Hawaii we only tried Zippy's for the first time last year on the Big Island. They are all over Oahu. I was ecstatic when I saw there was 1 location in Maui close to the airport. This was our first meal and it did not disappoint. We got a plate with korean fried chicken and chili with rice. I usually don't eat chili but I do at Zippy's. It is the bomb. Korean fried chicken, bomb. My daughter got a mini chicken katsu and she enjoyed it. Spam, breaded fish, and chili was nothing special but edible. Now the fried chicken I was a disappointed because it seemed like a popular item and thought it would be good but it was very dry and the flavor was lacking. Husband got the Surf Pac. His only had the fried chicken and beef but double serving of it. The portions are big but still expensive but everything here is going to be expensive and while husband did enjoy his food I thought the taste and enjoyment of the food did not match the price tag.
