Our last night in Maui was the perfect way to celebrate our 45th Anniversary at Duke's! We had a party of 11 (6 adults and 5 kids), and even though the restaurant was packed, Charles and the entire staff were fantastic--especially with the kids. The food took a little longer to arrive, which was completely understandable, and it was absolutely worth the wait! We started with the calamari appetizer--excellent. The guys ordered the Ahi tuna and couldn't stop talking about it. I had the macadamia nut-crusted monchong, and it was hands down the best meal I had all week! A huge thank you to Charles and everyone at Duke's for making our anniversary dinner so memorable. And of course...you can't leave without ordering the Hula Pie. It's an absolute must! read more

We came here on 4th of July. Had a reservation for 13 people. We were seated promptly and our server Dane (I think) was so great and attentive. Mai Tais were just ok, a little too sweet for my liking. We had calamari for appetizer, which was just ok. The calamari is small strip style and seemed a little over cooked. Mains were excellent though. I have the fish tacos and they were great with so much flavor. Everyone in our party either had the fish tacos or the risotto and everyone loved it. Of course we couldn't go to Duke's without having the Hula Pie, which was also so good! We split 3 between the 13 of us and it was the perfect amount. It's an outdoor open air type of feel. Utterly overpriced, even for Maui. Watered down drinks, misleading menus (order "Tacos" get taco). Captive audience so they take advantage of them. Staff is cheery though. Sorry guys...I was not impressed! Food was mediocre and prime rib was bland. Filet was overcooked and just did not meet my expectations. Our server Michael was horrible, and out of it. Didn't take our order until 20 minutes later and then realized he had forgotten about us. Asked how are food was, but he didn't really care. He walked away mid sentence as I was speaking to answer the question he had asked. So rude. And here's the worst part, when he brought our bill, he hovered over our shoulder while we were entering in the tip. Felt so uncomfortable and awkward. Please tell your servers do not do this! When we stay in the area, we always almost come here for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This place is one of our go to for places to eat over the years. Located by the beach and great view at sunset. Breakfast times are not too bad, unless it's the weekend. Lunch is a little busier, but you can still get in with maybe a little wait time. Dinner, is a different story, you must make a reservation. They will be booked up. Food is pretty good here. It's decent, depending on what you get. Service is good. The staff are friendly. Lunch prices are really competitive! Love the ocean front view, the decor, the staff...simple love all of it. This was our first visit to Duke's Beach House, but it won't be our last. Each trip we try to find a new place, this one will be a go to for happy hour and lunch going forward...at least once each visit to Maui. We were celebrating my wife's birthday so they gave us a nice big piece of delicious Kimo's Original Hula Pie after our meal...it was so big we all had plenty and were completely stuffed. We like the ambiance better than the food, but the food is very solid. Service was attentive and friendly while being quick. The patio was closed because of weather and they put down the shades to protect us, but it did make it very dark inside. We stopped into Duke's Beach House for an 11am brunch on a very rainy Maui morning. The weather kept things pretty quiet, and we were seated right away. Service was good overall--friendly and attentive--but nothing especially memorable. We were staying at the Westin and used the guest discount card, which came with a free appetizer. We went with the calamari, and it was a good start to the meal. For our mains, I had the BBQ chicken salad and my wife ordered the fish tacos. Both dishes were tasty and fresh, exactly what you'd hope for at a casual beachside spot. There was a small blip with my salad, but the staff fixed it quickly and without any hassle, which we appreciated. All in all, a solid brunch with good food and a relaxed atmosphere--even on a rainy day. Not quite a standout experience, but definitely a place we'd return to the next time we're on Maui. read more

Amazing! OK, let's start with the food. My husband and I both ordered the barbecue ribs and chicken plate. It was the best meal we had the entire trip. We also had the hula pie which was so good! There was something wrong with my husband's meal and almost immediately Chloe, being the superstar she is, took it back and got him a new one immediately. Then the manager came out and also apologized. This is probably the best service we have had our entire trip and they were so apologetic for something that really wasn't that big of a deal. Before we got to our table, they had a card waiting for us because it's our anniversary and all of the staff members signed it. We will definitely be back. One of our first meals in Maui! We made a reservation for 4 on our first full day and we were seated right away. I would highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time as there were quite a few parties that were waiting. The restaurant is tucked behind a resort so we were able to find guest parking in front of the hotel free of charge. It is located by the water with an amazing beachside view. We ordered the POG and mango slush, both of which were fruity and refreshing. One of the best slushies I've had in awhile. We ordered the rib & chicken plate to share. Both the chicken and ribs were juicy and marinated well. Last but not least, the hula pie was SO DELICIOUS. We had received a complimentary coupon for the hula pie from one of the concierges at the resort, even though we did not stay there! the pie was ice cream with a shave ice texture, making it a perfect treat to end the meal. We were very very satisfied with this meal (+ the free pie!) and got to take a stroll on the beach afterwards too. Would highly recommend this place for the ambiance & food! read more

This was our first night in Maui and vibes were high as we were starting our vacation- only to be brought down by the rude, cold, and unhelpful server here. I don't want to publicly shame him so i won't use his name but his initials LS. We had never been here and had recommendations from friends who had given us a gift card on what to order. It turns out that the fish they recommended wasn't there so we were trying to figure out what to order and asking questions and looking for suggestions. LS seemed very bothered by our questions and wasn't helpful, of the attitude- that's a different fish than what we have so I can't help you with your questions. In addition, I'm not a big drinker so I was asking for a visual as to the size of a 6 oz pour compared to a 9 oz pour. His answer- I can't measure it on a water glass. When I said im trying to figure out how much a 9 oz pour is, he rudely and coldly said "it's 3 oz more". You don't say!?! So many rude responses like that, I've actually never had a more rude and unhelpful server. On the positive side, we joked about his rudeness all weekend. For the food- Among the four of us, we ordered four entrées, but three of which were fish and all of the fish was super dry. We asked for extra sauce when we were ordering, but didn't receive it and had to ask for more. The fourth entree was prime rib and our friend enjoyed it. The crab wontons were very unflavorful. It just tasted like cream cheese. The hula pie was good although I prefer hula grills better. The Poke tacos were OK. My husband and his friend enjoyed their Mai tais. The views were nice and thankfully we were so dumbfounded by the servers rudeness that it didn't hit us until later how rude he was. We had the Sautéed Mac Nut & Herb-Crusted Fresh Fish (mahi-mahi) and the banana leaf steam fish (hapu'u hawaiian sea bass) Great flavor and butteriness of the white meat fish and the rice and vegetables went really well with the dishes. We also tried the prime rib that was well seasoned, tender, juicy, and had a good chew. Paird really well with the horseradish. The dessert were DELICIOUS! Definitely try out the creme brûlée which came with three different flavors and the lilikoi pie (kinda more like a tart/cheesecake) but it was VERY GOOD. We have been to Dukes in Waikiki and my bf really wanted to visit Dukes while in Maui. We did not have reservations so we did a walk in. They have open seating for the bar top and bar area. While we were waiting a table actually opened up in the bar so we decided to take it. The bar area offers the bar menu and the full dining menu. I love lava flows and was a bit sad not to see it on the menu. I asked the waitress if they had it and she said they do, but it's not on the menu. My bf ordered a mai tai which he really enjoyed! My lava flow was delicious! Sadly, service just wasn't there... we would've loved to get another drink each, but the waitress never came to check on us. For food we ordered the poke tacos and the pork nachos. The tacos were really good and I would highly recommend. The nachos were good, but over baked. We had pieces that tasted burnt and the cheese was crisp vs gooey. They were hard to eat as they were all stuck together and would easily break due to being overcooked. Overall the food was ok, the place had a great view and great vibe, drinks were good, but it is not worth going out of your way to come and it is overpriced. Stopped in on our first night of vacation! It was the perfect spot to kick off our vacation with yummy drinks and good food and a beautiful view of the ocean. We were seated on the patio overlooking the sunset. As the sun set, they turned on the tikis and live music began, and the ambiance was set! I ordered the furikake ahi steak. It was perfectly seared and plated on rice with a delicious spicy sauce. Our waiter Charles shared that it was his favorite and I was thankful I took his recommendation. We went back again to Duke's Beach House on our last night in Maui. It was crowded on a Monday night. We had a table that was on the path for everyone who was being seated. We did not appreciate that. Again we split a maui sunflower caesar. My husband chose the Seafood risotto. It was very good. I had the Rib and Chicken plate. the ribs were very good, however, the chicken was a bit dry and chewy. The restaurant is right on the beach and I wish we had a better table to enjoy the atmosphere and the live music. We did go back because it was conveniently located at our hotel. On the last night, when I am packing to go home, it is nice to be able to walk to a restaurant and not need to find parking. read more

We were visiting Maui for a family vacation and we decided to eat at this place as it showed it walking distance from our hotel. We didn't have a reservation which was fine because they were able to seat all 4 of us with no problem. They were also very accommodating when I asked if I could place the stroller for my baby somewhere that's not in the way. They were so sweet and nice!! This restaurant is literally right near the beach, you could walk there after you're done eating. Which is what we did and we were able to catch a beautiful sunset! The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh!! I was so impressed with the poke tacos and the food!! But my favorite had to be the dessert!
